Today is Tuesday. The sports gym is closed. After finishing work, I dashed off to "Uchida" in Keisei Tateishi. I had to wait a bit before being seated at a table. I ordered a bottle of beer and simmered dish. It's Kirin Lager beer. The simmered dish has been running out frequently lately, so I'm grateful they still had some left. The small bottles go quickly. I also ordered shochu and oolong tea, minus the plum. Enjoying a pure version. Might as well order some daikon since it was forgotten. Luckily, they still had some left. I seem to be failing at the "vegetable first" approach. But compared to the failures in life in the foreground, it's not a big deal. Time for whiskey. I'll have it straight. Having straight whiskey and shochu with oolong tea. Finally, a mix of whiskey and shochu. A fusion like a Japanese Prince Albert. Delicious. Well, closing time is approaching. Just like in life, I also want to close shop. Only managed to drink one glass of shochu today. Thank you for the meal. After teleworking, it's time for some fun... before heading back to Osaka dropping by my favorite Korean restaurant for today's meal... My love, spicy pork with onions, garlic, and green peppers boiled, with a side of spicy bean sprouts. It was delicious, priced at 1600 yen, or 2000 yen for a hearty portion. Thanks! This day, the restaurant opened before 2 p.m., and when I arrived at 2:10 p.m., the inside was full. There were over 20 people waiting, so I decided to line up at the end and patiently waited while checking the etiquette in advance. Three people in front of the entrance curtain lined up in order, waiting patiently to be called. The turnover gradually increased, but 40 minutes later, I was finally able to enter the restaurant. Inside the dimly lit restaurant, there were counter seats and a long table for solo diners. Luckily, I was seated next to the head chef and immediately ordered a large bottle of beer, motsu stew, raw liver, and they all came out quickly. The motsu stew had a variety of cuts and a rich flavor that is unique compared to other places. The boiled liver and raw liver, though quite boiled, were refreshing when eaten with vinegar. I also ordered plum wine and kashira sauce. The plum wine, a famous drink in the area, was poured generously with plum syrup and was perfect with the motsu yaki. The kashira sauce had large and tender meat with a rich and sweet sauce that was delicious. The atmosphere in the restaurant was quiet, with orders from the staff being clear and audible. The table was not very wide, so empty glasses were quickly removed, but the beer bottles and plates were left stacked for the bill. This time, I tried the raw liver and sauce flavors, and I look forward to trying the salt, vinegar, and various cuts like shiro, guts, fat, nankotsu, etc., next time. The total bill for the large beer for ¥600 and other items for ¥250 each came to ¥1600. It was a valuable experience, and I enjoyed the soothing atmosphere with alcohol and motsu yaki since there were no rowdy drinkers. That sums up my experience.

The prices are extremely cheap, but I remember they were ¥200 last time, so it seems they have increased. I entered at 11:00 am on Saturday. I was worried about getting in because they have super short hours from 10am to 12pm on Saturdays, but luckily I got in without waiting. Orders are taken promptly and efficiently. You need to be able to respond quickly to sudden questions. It can be a bit intimidating if you're not used to izakaya environments. I was quite nervous myself. Ume Wari and Budou Wari are mainly shochu straight. Surprisingly, they are easy to drink. They go well with grilled dishes, making you even more hungry. A place I would like to visit again while it's still open. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the restaurant before 7 o'clock as a typhoon was approaching. I had grilled intestines and liver, white liver, and grilled intestines with miso. It's been a while since I had the white liver, and I was moved by its delicious taste. The grilled intestines also had a great texture. On Thursday at 17:15, there was no wait and I went straight to my seat! There weren't many customers at this time, but the food was delicious! I had one guts and one boiled dish, both with vinegar. I also had small umeshu mixed with beer x2.5. I ordered daikon and ginger simmered in vinegar. Then I had one grape mixed drink. The liver dish was well-cooked and delicious. Overall, it was a great dining experience at Keisei Tateishi.

A renowned restaurant specializing in grilled offal. Finally got to visit during a business trip. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very pleasant and enjoyable. The flavors were simple yet delicious, especially the boiled offal stew. The raw items like tongue, heart, and liver were tasty on their own, but tasted even better with vinegar! The fatty cuts and head were substantial and satisfying. Everything was delicious, but the raw intestines were the best today! Eating and drinking with another person cost less than 5000 yen... What an amazing restaurant!

This time, when I entered the already crowded restaurant, I was really surprised by the long line. It was a sight to see after a long time. However, the wait wasn't that long. Still in the midst of a hectic work period, but today I made a dash for the train after work and finally made it to Kin'yu for the first time in a while. I arrived at Keisei Tachiarai at 18:20, and sure enough, there was a line of about ten people at Kin'yu. After waiting for about 15 minutes, I entered and sat in the corner of the restaurant. The food I had today was just...wow. Unbelievable. The daikon and ginger pickles were excellent, the miso soup had a rich flavor, and the plum wine was perfect. I might not be able to come to Kin'yu again this year, but it was a great meal. Thank you for the meal.

I finished work early and went to the restaurant around 6 pm. There was no line, so I was seated immediately. I ordered two random dishes, simmered dish, and two drinks. It was a rough order, but it was nice to relax and enjoy the meal without worrying about what others may think. It's also nice to take it easy and enjoy a leisurely drink without pretending to know everything.

My original plan for the Obon vacation was as follows: 8/14 Morning: Kyoto -> Hamamatsu - Una-don, game center, hot springs, gyoza - Overnight 8/15 Morning: Hamamatsu -> Tokyo - Shinagawa-don, sushi at Tsukiji, game center, yakitori in Shinbashi, karaoke - Overnight 8/16 Tsukiji Hormone-don, mahjong parlor, "Hormone Jinsei Tarochan" - Tokyo -> Kanazawa - Overnight 8/17 Seafood donburi, white gyoza - Kanazawa -> Kyoto, but Typhoon No. 7 is approaching. It was clear that going from Hamamatsu to Tokyo on 8/15 was impossible. ... Which means a complete revision of the plan. Therefore, on 8/12, I made the decision to leave earlier and depart in the evening on the following day, 8/13, staying in Tokyo for 4 nights until the typhoon passed and then returning to Kyoto. While revising the plans for Tokyo, on the morning of 8/17, I received information that the restaurant Uchida was opening. The source of this information was a regular customer named "Kuroyagi" who always gets information about Uchida here. Kuroyagi is a strong lover of Uchida, so I always rely on him for information. I believe that as long as there is an understanding of what it means to be a regular customer and not interfere with them, everything will work out fine. Of course, there may be objections. However, I firmly believe that this is the most beautiful way. Now, on the morning of 8/17, I met up with an old acquaintance, M, at Tokyo Station, and we had Hormone-don at Tsukiji. Of course, alcohol was strictly prohibited! (^^; - The cost performance was poor, and I wasn't satisfied. After that, we took the Toei Subway Asakusa Line directly to Keisei Tachiai. It was still before 10:30 in the morning, and as expected, no one was queuing yet. So M and I went into a cafe and cooled off with iced tea. When it was 11 o'clock, we left the cafe and went to check, and someone was already queuing, top spot! "Oh, you're the top!" I called out, and that person replied, "I'm number 2" pointing to the ground. There were a fan and a water bottle placed there. (No, isn't that against the rules?) I thought, but the person who was number 2 said, "They seem like a regular customer...," so I followed suit and placed my fan and water bottle before returning to the cafe. I couldn't leave it unattended for a long time, so I finished my iced tea, went to the restroom, got everything ready, and went back to the line around 11:20. I secured the 3rd spot! (At that time, there were already about 7 people in line.) Surprisingly, M said, "I'll wait with you until noon," even though it was her. We met at 8:30 in the morning at Tokyo Station, had breakfast in Tsukiji, then headed to Uchida to queue, and she had to go back to work from 3 p.m.... 8/17 Morning - 4th in line at Uchida restaurant. I established my designated spot "end below the mirrors" and was recognized. Moreover, I was asked if I wanted "Hone" (bone) and "Tsuru" (tripe), and I got them both. I've eaten them before, and it's not like I really wanted to eat them that day, but both Hone and Tsuru were abundant, so I refrained from eating as soon as I entered the store. When the seats were decided, So-san said, "We'll open at 2 p.m., but I'll do my best to open early!" and so we disbanded for a while, returning to the cafe for 30-40 minutes, drinking Royal Milk Tea. The cafe staff said, "You were in line at Uchida!" Bingo! I returned to the shop around 13:40. Ultimately, in the scorching heat, I stood alone.

I lined up around 12:30 on the day when the store opened at 2:00 PM, and it was already the second round. However, it is a highly recommended restaurant worth waiting in line for. There are some rules to follow, but the unique atmosphere inside the restaurant adds to the experience. The grilled offal was delicious, but the raw tongue dish was exquisite.

Visited on a Thursday night. Even though it was just before 7 pm, they were still open! I walked in and applied some alcohol from the dispenser at the entrance and waited for my turn. Only three options left: shiro (intestine), guts, and liver. I was finally allowed in, and I started with umeshu (plum wine) for 250 yen and liver with salt for 250 yen. The place was bustling, with staff all wearing Uchida T-shirts, creating a lively atmosphere. I also tried daikon with ginger and vinegar for 250 yen. Worried if they still had T-shirts left since I could only see a few, I continued to order shiro intestine well-done for 250 yen and a second umeshu for 250 yen. When it was time to pay, I asked for a T-shirt and luckily, they still had some left! I got a medium-sized Uchida T-shirt for 3,500 yen. I will be wearing this Uchida T-shirt until summer ends. Long time no see, Uchita-san. As expected, the simmered dishes were the best. They might be my favorite. I wonder if the heart, liver, and white cow stomach were also in the lineup. We stayed for about an hour, enjoying the atmosphere and all the dishes were delicious. Thank you for the feast.

Visited around 11 AM on a Saturday and there was already a line of about 10 people. They only had shiro (whitebait) and simmered dishes left, but that's what I came for so I decided to wait in line. Despite warnings that it might run out soon, I continued to wait. Managed to get inside around 11:30 AM. It had been a while since I had a traditional Japanese hot pot meal. Luckily, they still had both shiro and simmered dishes available. I ordered plum wine, grilled shiro with vinegar, and simmered dish. Drinking plum wine in a bright setting felt a bit guilty but enjoyable. The simmered dish ran out quickly. As the end of the plum wine was nearing, I ordered the last piece of grilled shiro. The staff asked if it was okay even though it was the last one, and I gladly accepted it. I moved to a different seat as another customer was waiting. Ordered a second round of plum wine. A regular customer mentioned that the last piece of shiro was precious. The system seemed to be that the second half of the plum wine would be priced at 100 yen. The total bill came to 1,100 yen. I gave two 1,000 yen bills, and received change, which left me feeling a bit regretful. Next time, I'll plan ahead for my visit. Thank you for the meal.

Visited the famous butcher shop in Tateshina before 7:00 PM on Friday. Managed to get in just in time, with a wait of about 10 minutes for a party of 3. Started off with a large bottle of beer for ¥600, although it was more like a medium-sized bottle. Tried the simmered offal for ¥250 first. It was tasty, but was it worth the wait? Next, we ordered the grilled offal, with 2 skewers of Guts and 2 skewers of Lean Meat for ¥250 each, seasoned with salt. The Guts were cooked perfectly, with a great texture. The Lean Meat had no odor and was easy to eat. The atmosphere was certainly something, but it would be better if we could take our time to enjoy the food. There are plenty of other great places to enjoy delicious offal.

Today, I visited Uchida, known as the holy land of grilled beef intestines. It took me about 50 minutes by train from my home, a bit of a journey. I read on various websites that this place can be tough for first-timers, so I made sure to do my research before going. When I arrived around 5 p.m., the place was packed. There were about five people waiting. But the turnover seemed fast, and I was able to enter the restaurant in less than 10 minutes. First, I tried the traditional parts like liver, tongue, and head. The grilled beef intestines here are delicious no matter which part you eat. And the price is amazing, with 2 skewers for 250 yen. Both the sauce and salt were tasty, but the boiled skewers, served raw, were exceptionally delicious. They were well-seasoned, and I highly recommend the liver skewers. As for the service, the middle-aged man was very kind and helpful, even to a first-timer like me. However, the younger guy was a bit blunt and intimidating. The atmosphere was not as harsh as I expected, so it's a casual place to visit. Let's not be swayed by the information we find online.
