Visited on Sunday after 3pm. At this time, they were sold out except for reservations! There were 3 groups of customers who had reserved ahead of us, so we had to wait a bit. Reservations can be made starting from 6pm two days prior. By the time we accessed the website after 6pm, most of the sandwich options were already sold out! Reservations are especially necessary for those looking for sandwiches. The reservation page includes photos and descriptions of the ingredients, making it easier to choose compared to selecting at the store. Avocado and smoked salmon sandwich 480 yen ☆3.5 The bagel dough is firm. The smoky flavor of the salmon is good. Plenty of cream cheese. It's thick, so it was a bit challenging to eat. Broccoli chicken confit croque-monsieur 420 yen ☆4.3 As recommended by the staff, we microwaved it in the paper for 1 minute. It was reheated to a nice texture, with a soft and fluffy dough. Delicious with plenty of fillings - preferred over the bagel sandwich. Hazelnut & maple cheese bagel 291 yen ☆3.6 Reheated in the microwave. Not crispy on the outside, but moist and chewy. Plenty of maple cheese with a gentle sweetness. The flavor of hazelnuts comes through later. Black tea & lemon cheese bagel 291 yen ☆3.4 Nice aroma of tea leaves and refreshing lemon flavor. Tasty, but not as good as the other two. Almond & apple cheese bagel 291 yen ☆3.7 Reheated in the oven. Crispy crust, soft dough. Couldn't taste much of the almonds, but the cream cheese and apple sweetness complement each other well and taste delicious! They provide ice packs and detailed instructions on how to reheat. The illustrations on the paper bag are cute and easy to understand. The staff are very polite and provide excellent service. If I have the chance to visit again, I would definitely go back. Payment is cash only.

I went without a reservation last time and could only buy an English muffin, so this time I made a reservation. (I didn't like English muffins, but it was incredibly delicious.) Reservations are available from 6:00 p.m. two days before, but when I checked the website after 8:00 p.m., the deli sandwiches were sold out. I was late... I was able to make a reservation, and I reserved some sweet sandwiches and bagels. I visited on a sunny Sunday at 3:00 p.m. The shop only had 5 milk cream buns left. I've been into bagels lately, so I wasn't planning on buying the milk cream bun, but since it's from Pomu, I thought it must be delicious and added it. In the end, it was a good buy. Details below. ◾️ Milk cream couldn't resist and took a bite in the car on the way home. The moment I tore it, I knew it was delicious. Fluffy, elegantly sweet, irresistible... The taste dropped after 3 hours of purchase. Still delicious, but I recommend eating it immediately - so delicious! The best milk cream I've ever had. ◾️ Earl Grey cheesecake and yellow peach sandwich I'm not a fan of crispy bagels, but this was incredibly delicious... What is this? Crispy and irresistible even for chewy lovers. Delicious! Pomu is the best! ◾️ Coffee bagel When toasted, a gentle coffee aroma fills the air. Crispy on the outside. The banana and coffee cream filling inside is just the right amount. This is also delicious! I also bought pumpkin bagels and more. Encountered a new deliciousness of bagels.

In the lingering summer heat, pass through the shopping street from the station and turn right at the end. This small restaurant, located on the ground floor of an apartment in a residential area, can only accommodate up to two groups (or maybe two individuals) at a time. I had heard that the owner was a woman, but there was a man at the storefront. There was a woman in the back, so perhaps she is the owner. The bagels, individually wrapped with masking tape indicating the product name, also had the purchased items listed on the receipt. Instructions on how to store and reheat the bagels and muffins were included, showing great attention to detail. From about 10 options, I chose a simple bagel that can withstand freezing as my main item. ◼︎ China Nuts & Orange Cheese Bagel ¥313 (tax included) Orange and cheese, quite an unexpected combination, don't you think? The bagel was filled with orange cheese for about 2/3 of the way. Honestly, I couldn't find the nuts, but the orange cheese was right up my alley and satisfied my taste buds. ◼︎ Whole Wheat Bagel ¥216 (same) Following the instructions provided, I heated it in the microwave for 10 seconds x 4 times and then in the toaster for 3 minutes. Oh! I was able to recreate the crispy crust! The inside was dense and chewy, while the outside was crispy like a baguette. Moreover, it didn't have the typical gritty texture of whole wheat. I've tried various bagels, including imports from overseas, but this one was by far the best! It's amazing how different the taste can be based on how you heat it. ◼︎ English Muffin ¥146 (same) Following the instructions again, I sliced it in half, spread butter, and heated it slowly in a frying pan. It got slightly burnt, but that's part of the charm (^^) Unlike the microwave, taking time to heat it in the pan kept it warm for longer. The surface was crispy, and the inside was fluffy, like a pancake. This kind of texture with an English muffin was a first for me. I drizzled it with maple syrup, and it was delicious, my top pick so far!

In search of delicious bread, I visited this shop as part of my quest to visit top bakeries. When I arrived the other day, it seemed they were closed due to illness, so I'm glad to see them back in business! There was quite a line in front of the shop. The bagels were incredibly delicious! I understand why they are so popular. I would definitely like to visit again if I have the chance!

I made a reservation for August on a Friday and visited for the first time. Reservations can be made from 6:00 pm two days before the business day via the website. In August, the bakery was quiet, so I leisurely went around 6:30 pm, but more than half of the items were already SOLDOUT... I was able to purchase the following 4 items: *Cranberry BB Orange Bagel 117g/313 yen *Macadamia Nuts & Pine Cheese Bagel 126g/313 yen *Grilled Corn Bagel 313 yen *Hazelnut Mango Cheese 122g/313 yen I made a reservation for 1:00-2:00 and there were about five people lined up in front of the store. It's a designated pick-up time, but I was surprised to see people lining up. The store is small, only accommodating 2-3 people, and the checkout process takes quite some time, so it's understandable. There is no shaded area outside the store, so a parasol is essential. You can purchase items if they are still available, but when I went, there were only about 2 sandwiches left. I was advised to eat the Grilled Corn quickly. So, I had it on the same day, and it was incredibly delicious. The thin crust was crispy and fragrant from reheating, and the densely packed crumb had a good texture. It was a very bagel-like bagel. The moist filling was slightly spicy and delicious. I froze the remaining items and had them later, especially the ones with cream cheese were delicious. The mango and pineapple had moist flesh instead of dried fruits, which left a good impression. Despite weighing around 120g, they were light but had a substantial size, providing a great eating experience. Thank you for the meal.

I went around 2:30 PM on a weekday. It was my first time getting off at Nishi-Ogikubo station, and I was excited as I headed to the restaurant. Inside the restaurant, almost everything was sold out at this time...! The only items left were one type of bagel (with raisins, oranges, and gorgonzola) 2 pieces, and spinach English muffins 2 pieces...! It seems they are very popular and sell out quickly! Personally, I'm not a fan of gorgonzola, so this time I tried the spinach English muffin! It had no unpleasant smell of spinach and a subtly gentle sweetness! I had it without reheating, and the texture was very chewy and delicious. I would love to try the bagels with this chewy texture as well! I will definitely go back! Thank you for the meal.

Pom de Terre is only open on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. From 1:00 to 1:45, it's reservation-only. After 1:45, they also serve walk-ins if available, making it quite a challenging place to get into. I happened to remember it while doing a food review nearby, so I decided to line up. I thought I'd only get a few, but I ended up getting a lot. Originally a bistro, it was renovated about 8 years ago and transformed into a takeout bakery specializing in bagels. It's so popular that it's been selected as one of the top 100 shops. The owner and chef is Miyuki Kudo. I'm rooting for her as a fellow woman. The bagels range from 280 to 290 yen, each with a unique flavor and a chewy texture when warmed up. They are mild and gentle in taste without being overly distinctive. While I appreciate the chewiness, I also wish there were more unique flavors like curry. Overall, it's not bad, but I couldn't quite see why it's so popular. Maybe I just don't have a love for bagels. This is an example of how someone without a passion for bagels might feel when visiting a challenging shop like this.

I visited solo on a holiday. About a 10-minute walk from Nishi-Ogikubo Station North Exit, this bagel shop stands in a quiet residential area. The shop is said to be the birthplace of the roll-in bagel, where fillings are rolled into the dough and baked. Awarded as one of the top 100 bread shops from '20 to '22. It was around 2 p.m. on a Sunday. Knowing that they operate only 3 days a week and mainly by reservation, I almost gave up but decided to drop by. To my surprise, there was no line and no other customers, with a wide variety of bagels still in stock. This was quite delightful (∩・∀・∩) Since I hadn't done much research, I carefully examined the options in the shop. Having purchased bread from Robuchon just before, I chose the almond pine cheese and caramel chocolate, both on the sweeter side. As I was leaving, the owner smiled and said, "Thank you for coming in this hot weather." Such words of appreciation are important, right? Yes, it's hot, but I'll walk back to the station! ( ・ㅂ・)و ̑̑ The next morning, I shared them with my family. The almond pine cheese was mildly sweet, with a mellow blend of cheese and the tartness of pine matching refreshingly. On the other hand, the caramel chocolate was distinctly sweet, delivering the expected taste. In the end, I felt that these two balanced each other out quite well in terms of flavor. Not only were the flavors delicious, but what stood out was the crispy exterior and chewy interior texture. You can feel the strong dedication of the owner to their products. Overall, it was satisfying and had a good amount of substance. They offer a variety of sweet options that kids would love, so I'd like to visit with my family next time. Thank you for the meal. I will come again.

Restaurant Name: Pom de Terre
Location: Nishi-Ogikubo
About a 10-minute walk from Bagel Bakery Nishi-Ogikubo Station, you'll find Pom de Terre just a short walk from En-Tsu-Do. It's a good idea to visit both places! Here, in addition to the bagel bakery, there are also very large and thick muffins that caught my eye. I also noticed they had chocolate bagels, so I bought one! The bagel had bits of chocolate throughout and was delicious. They had a variety of cream cheese bagel sandwiches that looked really tasty, and I wanted to buy one, but it was a hot day and I was worried about taking it home, so I couldn't purchase it. It looked so delicious, so I was disappointed. I'm thinking of coming back in colder weather next time.

On Sundays around 2:30 PM, many of the sandwich options were already sold out, so it seems you need to make a reservation to secure your order. The restaurant is small, allowing only up to two groups at a time. The curry bagel, cheese and pepper bagel, whole wheat bagel, and English muffin bagel were all on the firm side, decent but nothing special. The English muffin was incredibly soft and chewy, absolutely delicious. They are only available on Sundays after 2 PM, about a 10-minute walk from Nishi-Ogikubo, making it a bit difficult to visit. However, if given the chance, I would definitely want to purchase them again. Perhaps the experience would be even better if you try their items that require a reservation.

Located about a 10-minute walk from JR Nishi-Ogikubo Station North Exit, just past Shimizuya, this place is on the left. They open at 14:00 (reservations start at 13:00), so it was my first visit this time. I purchased two bagels: the Choco Choco Bagel @302 and the Coffee and Banana Bagel @302. I had them for breakfast the next day. The bagels had a cleaner shape than any I've had before and were also "moist and chewy" lol. The Choco Choco Bagel had a subtle but distinct chocolate flavor. The Coffee and Banana Bagel had just the right amount of sweetness, not too sweet. It was a very delicious bagel shop. I felt it was the best compared to Tekona Bagel Works and Maruichi Bagel. Thank you for the meal.

I have loved this restaurant for 10 years. Due to moving, I haven't been able to visit often, but I recently went back, so I will review it (*'▽'*). The popular bagels at this restaurant sell out quickly, so it's essential to make a reservation if you want to try them! From 13:45, they will also sell without a reservation, but by Sunday before 14:00, I think more than half were already sold out. The bagels at this restaurant are tall, and freshly baked, the crust is super crispy! (I think the bagel on the right in the second photo conveys it well!) Even when cold, re-baking them brings back the crispy crust. The inside dough is chewy and has a nice pull to it. It's very satisfying to eat. If you prefer soft and chewy bagels, including the crust, this might not be for you, but I love this unique type of bagel that other places don't have. There are many sweet options, but they are not overly sweet, which is also nice. I recommend the caramel chocolate and lemon cheese, but it's hard to choose between them, so I think you can't go wrong with your preference ^_^ I should have bought more!!! I will definitely go back!!

Takeout [Tabelog Bread TOKYO Top 100 2022] ■ Plain Bagel ¥205 ■ Choco & Choco ¥302 ■ Hojicha & Azuki Bean Bagel ¥302 ■ Coffee & Banana Cream Bagel ¥302 Among the various types of bread, I was never interested in bagels to begin with and had the impression that they were dry, so they weren't my favorite type of bread. However, after trying the bagels at this store, my concept of bagels changed. I realized that a proper bagel can be so delicious. Located in Nishi-Ogikubo, Suginami-ku, where high-quality bakeries gather, "Pom de Terre" offers bagels and French deli. They are known for introducing bagels to the world and are considered the master of bagels, even referred to as the "pioneer of bagels." I happened to visit the nearby area and decided to stop by. They open at 13:45, and I arrived just 10 minutes before that, with already two people in line. As the opening time approached, more and more customers started lining up. By the way, if you have a reservation, you can enter even before 13:45. I chose four types of bagels from the many options available. The "Plain Bagel" is the basic one. It was incredibly delicious. The chewy texture of the dough, the right amount of saltiness, and a hint of sweetness made it stand out as a dish on its own. In addition, I tried three other varieties with ingredients mixed in. The "Coffee & Banana Cream Bagel" features coffee dough with banana cream filling, and the combination is excellent. The "Hojicha & Azuki Bean" offers a perfect balance of bitterness from hojicha and sweetness from azuki bean. Lastly, the "Choco & Choco" with its bitter chocolate dough and cream delivers classic deliciousness. Thanks to this store, I discovered the charm of bagels. I will definitely visit again.

Sunday, 3:30 PM. I went without a reservation, just on a whim. As expected, the bagels were sold out, and only English muffins were left. I'm not a big fan of English muffins, but since I came all this way, I decided to buy one. Later, an older gentleman behind me bought all the remaining English muffins, so I had high hopes. The next morning, following the shop's recommendation, I toasted it in a pan and ate it. It was incredibly delicious. I've become a fan of English muffins. It was fluffy inside, with a gentle wheat aroma, and super tasty. Next time, I want to try the bagels too. I'll make sure to make a reservation!

I visited Nishi-Ogikubo for the fourth time on my bread shop tour. I called at 1:00 pm this time and asked if I could purchase without a reservation. They said I could buy around 1:45 pm, so I arrived at 1:50 pm on Sunday. I bought three bagels: Jasmine & Lychee Cheese Bagel for 313 yen, Hazelnut, Summer Orange, Lemon, and Orange Bagel for 291 yen, and Chocolate & Chocolate Bagel for 302 yen. They were all chewy, but toasting them a little in the toaster brings out a nice aroma and makes them even more delicious. It's better to make a reservation to ensure you can buy what you like if you have a specific plan. If you decide to go without a reservation, you might not have many choices right after opening. Thank you for the meal.

- Over a dozen varieties out of 100+ recipes are available at the storefront. The bagel's focus is on having a crispy exterior and a chewy interior. A popular spot open on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The top layer features a sweet red bean paste and a sweet summer butter sandwich, while the bottom layer consists of a summer butter bagel sandwich. The dough is quite springy due to the low water content. The owner and chef of the shop is Miyuki Kudo. The bistro opened in 2003, and the owner's classmate from the "Ecole Tsuji" French culinary school, Mr. Matsuo, co-founded the shop together. The owner also has experience at "Lemon Drop" in Kichijoji. Since 2011, the shop has been specializing in bagel takeout. In the past, there were mostly soft types, and few chewy bagels with low water content. The shop is known for its meticulous and warm customer service. Due to constant lines, reservations are recommended for handling complaints. The shop will only be open twice a week in July and August 2023.

Pomme de Terre, marked by the apple sign. Their bagels are crispy on the outside and chewy inside. Today, I tried the lemon & lemon cheese bagel. When lightly toasted, the outside becomes crispy. The chewy texture inside remains, creating a refreshing bagel with a nice lemony acidity.

It was quite a big size and filling, but the filling was a bit lacking and had a strange taste. I didn't purchase it, but the sandwich seemed delicious with plenty of filling. The dough was chewy and the top was crispy and delicious. I recommend making a reservation online. PayPay is not accepted.

Today, I had some free time during the day, so I first stopped by a popular restaurant in Shinjuku and then headed to a shop in Musashikoganei. While on my way, I got off at Nishi-Ogikubo and visited "Pomme de terre" to buy some bread that I had been curious about! The shop is located on the 1st floor of an apartment building, with a simple sign on a wooden-framed glass door giving it a charming atmosphere. When I visited around 1:30 PM today, there was a note saying that for those without reservations, they could enter from 1:45 PM, and when I tried to wait at the waiting area next to the entrance, I was told that waiting there was not allowed, so I returned at the designated time only to find a line of 8 people already formed. The ordering process was done by the staff, and although there were quite a few options to choose from, I decided to purchase the Caramel Chocolate Bagel (291 yen), Cranberry & Orange Cheese Bagel (313 yen), and Blueberry & Blueberry Cheese Bagel (302 yen) that caught my eye. First, I tried the Caramel Chocolate Bagel, and it was delicious! The bagel had a crispy outer layer and a chewy and moist texture inside, with a pleasant aroma of wheat and a well-balanced mix of caramel and chocolate that wasn't overly sweet, making it tasty! The Blueberry & Blueberry Cheese Bagel also had a crispy outer layer that turned crunchy when reheated, and the combination of cream cheese and blueberries was delightful, matching well with the bagel and tasting delicious! The Cranberry & Orange Cheese Bagel had finely chopped cranberries kneaded into the bagel, creating a good essence along with the rich taste and acidity of the orange cheese, making it enjoyable to eat! They provided detailed explanations when making a purchase to ensure that you enjoy it, which was easy to understand and conveyed their love for bagels. The quality of the bagels was high, and it was understandable why they were popular, as I was more than satisfied with my experience! I definitely want to try their bagel sandwiches next time, so now that I know the process, I might make a reservation and go buy them next time!
