2. What is Yatai Ramen Shunyacchan?
Yatai Ramen Shunyacchan in Takao opened on February 16, 2021. It is a popular shop often featured on TV and YouTube that I have been curious about for a while. According to a video from "Nippon Television NEWS," the founder of Shunyacchan is the owner of Takao's "Charcoal-grilled Meat Goshichi." Due to the pandemic, the sales at the yakiniku restaurant decreased significantly, leading to a crisis. As a result, the owner decided to open a yatai ramen, which he had wanted to do for a long time. The yatai is handmade by the owner's father, who is a carpenter. The location utilizes the parking space of "Delicatessen Bakery & Cafe Inakoppe," also owned by the owner. The preparation is done at the yakiniku restaurant, allowing for the use of high-quality ingredients. The ramen recipe was taught by the now-closed Hachioji Ramen famous shop "Kamiya." The name of the shop, Shunyacchan, is derived from the owner's name, Toshiya Ochiai. As of July 10, 2023, Yatai Ramen Shunyacchan has a Tabelog rating of 3.37, Ramen DB score of 80.259 points, and Google Map rating of 3.9.
3. How to get to Yatai Ramen Shunyacchan and its business hours
Address: 1277-8 Umezawacho, Hachioji, Tokyo 193-0845
About a 3-minute walk from Keio Takao Station South Exit. It is also convenient to use JR Takao Station via Keio Takao Station. You can see the Keio Takao Line running above Shunyacchan from the shop. When you turn right on the street, you will see the yatai. The atmosphere of Takao Shunyacchan's yatai is very welcoming. The shop in the back is "Delicatessen Bakery & Cafe Inakoppe." When I arrived around 7 p.m. on a Saturday, it was not crowded, but there was a line when I left. It seems to be a very popular shop.

4. Menu and atmosphere of Yatai Ramen Shunyacchan
The menu includes Ramen for 750 yen and Char Siu Ramen for 950 yen. I ordered the Char Siu Ramen as the Char Siu seems to be popular. It is clearly stated that there are no additives or chemical seasonings. That's amazing. The table condiments are pepper and vinegar. You can see the owner working from a distance. There was a noodle box labeled "Tamura Noodles." This is from Tamura Shoten. The outdoor setting gives a very open feeling. The large parasol on the seat adds to the nice atmosphere.
5. Char Siu Ramen I had at Yatai Ramen Shunyacchan
Wow. The Char Siu Ramen looks impressive, including the Char Siu. It doesn't look like typical yatai ramen. Toppings include seaweed, menma, komatsuna, and the Hachioji Ramen staple, onions. There are four nicely colored slices of Char Siu. The soup has a "gentle" taste that everyone would say is nice. The soy sauce kick is mild. It has a good balance of animal and fish flavors without feeling lacking. However, you don't feel a deep umami flavor much. The straight thin noodles are neatly arranged. They are slightly firm. The noodles are delicious, even though the interaction with the soup is not strong due to the gentle taste of the soup. The komatsuna is crisp. The seasoned menma is crunchy and delicious.
