The other day, when I went to Osaka and Kyoto, on the second morning, I left my accommodation and took a bus to Kinkakuji-michi. From there, I walked to the Deer Garden Temple (Kinkakuji). The purpose, of course, was to see the Golden Pavilion. It was also a request from my 6th grade daughter who was with me. After walking around the temple grounds, as we were about to leave, we noticed a sign that said "Matcha Tea". We decided to stop by a place called "Kinkakuji Fudokama Chasho" where you could enjoy matcha tea. There was an indoor tatami room and an outdoor seating area to choose from, and since the weather was nice, we chose to sit outside. After ordering, our matcha tea and a set of sweets (500 yen including tax) arrived. The sweets were a special treat called "Meigashi Kinkaku" made by a traditional Japanese confectionery shop called Senbon Tamajukken in Kamigyo-ku, Kyoto. This sweet, made with wasanbon sugar, had gold leaf on top, fitting for the Golden Pavilion. Inside, there was a sweet red bean paste with a subtle saltiness. The slightly bitter matcha tea paired well with this elegant sweet. The "Meigashi Kinkaku" was so refined in taste that just being able to try this sweet made having matcha tea here worth it. Enjoying matcha tea while looking at the temple grounds was a short but pleasant experience, allowing us to feel the charm of Kyoto, the ancient capital.

After visiting the Golden Pavilion, I enjoyed a cup of matcha tea. It was a hot day, so I hesitated, but when I saw a sign at the entrance saying they were brewing cold water, I decided to go for it. Although there were seats outside, everyone was sitting in the cool tatami room with a view of the garden. The sweets were delicious, so I bought some as souvenirs from the nearby shop.

I came to Kinkaku-ji with a friend. It's been about 10 years since I last visited. It didn't used to be this shiny back then (laughs). On this day, about 90% of the visitors were foreigners! It was amazing, almost felt like I wasn't in Japan. Despite that, we were able to enjoy a leisurely visit. We decided to take a break at the tea house near the exit. We chose to sit outside to enjoy our matcha (with sweets) for ¥500. Soon, we were served matcha, sweets, and a gold leaf-shaped sweet (which looked like a bird to me). The staff recommended starting with the sweet, so we did. The gold leaf on the sweet was luxurious. With one bite, I could taste the refined sweetness of wasanbon sugar, with a subtle sweet bean paste and a hint of saltiness balancing it perfectly. It was delicious! The unique sweets and matcha refreshed our tired feet. These sweets were also available for purchase as souvenirs. Thank you for the feast.

Kinkaku-ji Fudokama Chasho: A tea house in the grounds of Kinkaku-ji where you can enjoy authentic matcha! The slightly bitter matcha paired with traditional Japanese sweets is incredibly delicious. The matcha is very easy to drink, making it a great choice for first-timers. If you want to enjoy matcha in a charming tea house within Kinkaku-ji, be sure to visit here! #Kinkakuji #KinkakujiRestaurant #KinkakujiFudokamaChasho #MatchaRestaurant #JapaneseSweetsRestaurant #RecommendedRestaurant #February19th

Visited at 1:00 p.m. on February 4, 2023. After eating soba noodles and taking a 3-kilometer round trip walk, I visited Kinkaku-ji Temple for the first time in my life. Inside the temple grounds, I stopped at "Kinkaku-ji Fudo Kama Chasho" and enjoyed a cup of tea. You can get a cup of matcha tea for ¥500, which comes with a bite-sized sweet. The sweet contains sweet bean paste, salted soybeans, and Japanese sugar, all with the temple's stamp and gold leaf. It paired perfectly with the matcha tea. The sweet and tea were delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I visited on a weekday morning in January 2023. It was a snowy day (*'▽'). I enjoyed the snowy Kinkaku-ji Temple. There were a few foreign visitors, but I didn't mind. I just focused on admiring Kinkaku-ji Temple. As it started to get a bit cold, I found a shop. I had matcha tea with sweets (500 yen). The refined taste of wasanbon sugar and the unique flavor of Daikaku-ji natto were delightful. The matcha tea contained a bit of caffeine, which sometimes upsets my stomach. I'm not a big fan of traditional Japanese sweets, as I prefer wine, cream, and butter. But I still enjoyed them. When you think of Kyoto, you think of matcha and traditional Japanese sweets. It was a blissful moment looking outside. I'm glad I came. I'll make an effort to come back again.

The Golden Pavilion, shining so beautifully, exceeded my expectations. The reflection of the building on the water's surface is enchanting. Although visitors cannot enter the Golden Pavilion itself, there is a tea house along the path. I enjoyed a set of matcha tea and sweets for 500 yen outside. Despite the cold, there was a charming atmosphere that lifted my spirits. The matcha tea had a fine and gentle flavor, while the sweets complemented it with a perfect balance of sweetness and saltiness. It was delicious.

I visited Kinkaku-ji temple after a long time and got thirsty, so I came here. I enjoyed the matcha and sweets. The sweets were original tea sweets from Senbon Tamatsukenu in Nishijin, Kyoto. The rich matcha was strangely calming. This kind of time is nice...and all this for 500 yen, it's cheap.

A tea shop near the exit of Kinkaku-ji Temple serves delicious sweets made with Wasanbon sugar, along with matcha tea featuring a drawing of the Golden Pavilion. The service is quick and efficient. Although there is nothing else besides the Golden Pavilion, the autumn leaves are currently at their peak, attracting a large number of foreign visitors, mostly Chinese-speaking, possibly from Taiwan.

I visited Kinkaku-ji (officially named Rokuon-ji) on a school trip to Kyoto, and it had been a while since then. Kinkaku-ji is commonly known as such because of its famous Golden Pavilion. Upon paying the entrance fee, you receive a "bill" that serves as a ticket. Passing through the gate, the golden pavilion shines surprisingly brightly, more so than when I saw it decades ago. I took in the sight of the golden pavilion to my heart's content, then wandered around the grounds for about an hour. Just when I was starting to feel a bit tired, a tea house appeared at the perfect time! The Kyoto-style veranda with scarlet-colored carpeting in the garden had a nice atmosphere. I had "matcha (with sweets)" there. The traditional Japanese sugar confection that came with the matcha was a special confection called "Kinkaku" from Senbon Tamazukuri-ken, with the imprint of Kinkaku and a phoenix in gold leaf, only sold within Kinkaku-ji. The square-shaped sugar confection had red bean paste inside, and the balance of the sweetness of the bean paste and the mild saltiness of the sugar confection was very delicious, with an elegant taste. The bitterness of the matcha was also gentle, making it a perfect match with the confection! \(^o^)/

This is a shop located on the grounds of Kinkaku-ji. The atmosphere of the shop is great, and the staff are very welcoming. It was my first solo trip, and I was able to relax and enjoy delicious matcha and rakugan. It had been a long time since my school trip to Kinkaku-ji, so I was glad to visit places that I couldn't go with a school group. If you have time, I think it's worth stopping by.

After finishing the stroll around Kinkaku-ji, you hear a voice saying, "Would you like some matcha tea?" Under the scorching sun of midsummer, after walking around, you can't help but want to take a break, and this invitation is so tempting (laughs). I was drawn in and took a break (*'▽')◼️The shop has both indoor and terrace seating. The indoor area is a cool tatami room with air conditioning, while the outside has a nice atmosphere with a Japanese vibe, even though it's scorching hot. My mother preferred the outside, so despite the heat, we chose to sit outside. It's hot, but this Japanese-style space somehow feels soothing.◼️The staff are gentle and polite ladies.◼️Crowdedness: A few people on a Saturday before 10 am.◼️Customer demographics: Mostly elderly customers.◼️Menu: Only matcha tea set with Kinkaku (Japanese sweets).◼️Drink menu: I had matcha tea. You can choose between hot and cold.◼️Price: Matcha tea (with sweets) for 500 yen.◼️Service time: Very prompt.↓Impressions↓●Kinkaku with Sanbon sugar. It contains sweet bean paste and salted beans inside. It has a crunchy texture. The combination of saltiness and sweetness is quite delicious. It may be more about the atmosphere, but (laughs) it goes really well with the matcha tea.▼The matcha tea is delicious.Overall, after a tiring stroll around Kinkaku-ji, the sugar, salt, and matcha tea really soothe the body. I felt healed. I recommend taking a break here after visiting Kinkaku-ji (^_-)At the time of posting, the Tabelog score was 3.50, with 54 reviews and 574 saves.

April is indeed still quiet with hardly any school trips. Ah, it's peaceful and nice. The souvenir shop callers are noisy though. My husband and I visited Kinkaku-ji Temple, a place we haven't been to since our school trip days. I remember seeing the shiny golden building, but nothing else. That's because the approach is long and charming, but the only highlights are the front and back views of the temple across the pond. There are some pine trees shaped like sailboats, but it's hard to appreciate from the sitting area, as access is restricted. So, all we could do was walk around and see the temple. By the way, it's a one-way path with no reverse walking allowed. Despite avoiding the souvenir shops, there was nowhere to sit, and we fell into a trap - a bench for tired elderly people. It was a tea ceremony spot. We were served matcha tea and sweets on a red felt mat for 500 yen per person. The sweets were dry, probably for preservation, but the red bean paste inside was good. The gold leaf was a nice touch, fitting for Kinkaku-ji. The matcha was a bit weak, but it was a decent break with some flowers blooming nearby.

Today's visit was to the Kinkakuji Fudo-kama Chasho. Located within the grounds of Kinkakuji, a World Heritage site in Kyoto, Kyoto Prefecture, Kinkakuji Fudo-kama Chasho is a tea house. In 2020, the roof was renovated, adding to the charm of the already picturesque Kinkakuji. After passing by the golden temple, following the path leads to Kinkakuji Fudo-kama Chasho. For 500 yen, visitors can enjoy matcha tea and traditional Japanese sweets. Upon entering the shop, guests sit on tatami mats with red carpets and are served the tea and sweets. The Japanese sweet made with wasanbon sugar and salted soybeans was delicious, with a nice balance of sweetness and saltiness. The matcha tea was not bitter, with a hint of the tea flavor. Overall, the tea house offers a pleasant dining experience in the temple grounds. Thank you for the meal.

In September, I went on a food tour in Kyoto. After exploring various shops in Nishiki Market, I had originally planned to visit restaurants around Kyoto City Hall and Karasuma Oike. However, I ate too much at Nishiki Market and realized that continuing the food tour without a break would be difficult. So, I decided to visit a tourist spot where I could relax for a bit. I took a 40-minute bus ride from Kawaramachi to Kinkaku-ji, which I hadn't visited since my elementary school field trip. Unfortunately, when I arrived, the Golden Pavilion was under roof replacement construction, so I could only see the framework. Despite this, I paid my respects and then enjoyed a cup of matcha at the tea room inside. The matcha set with a tea sweet cost 500 yen, and I chose the cold matcha option. The tea sweet was a special treat called "Kinkaku," only sold within Kinkaku-ji, featuring a picture of the Golden Pavilion with gold leaf, and a refined sweetness from Japanese sugar and red bean paste. Although I couldn't see the Golden Pavilion shining in gold, at least this sweet treat had a golden touch, so I was satisfied. (laughs)

I went sightseeing in Kyoto with my friend. We took a bus to Kinkaku-ji Temple, which my friend wanted to visit. The temple was shining in golden color and looked beautiful. It was a quiet day with few people around. We decided to have matcha tea with sweets inside a building with air conditioning because it was very hot outside. The matcha tea was served cold and tasted delicious. The sweets were not too sweet and very elegant. It was a relaxing experience to enjoy the matcha tea in a cool environment. This was my first time visiting Kinkaku-ji with such few tourists, and it was a peaceful and soothing experience.

Today I visited the Kinkaku-ji Fudo-kama Chasho in the Golden Pavilion. The menu only offers matcha tea with sweets for 500 yen. I sat in the tatami room and waited while looking up the proper way to prepare and drink matcha. The staff placed the tea and sweets on the tatami and then disappeared, so I enjoyed my tea without worrying about the etiquette. I think I might become a matcha enthusiast after this experience at the temple. Thank you for the meal.

In the past article series, there is a place on the grounds of Kinkaku-ji where you can drink matcha. The building is impressive, and you might find yourself sitting up straight without realizing it. Matcha and tea sweets come as a set, and I remember feeling like there was a certain etiquette for drinking matcha, but I couldn't quite recall it. The tea sweets, which I initially thought were just simple sugar candies, turned out to be slightly refined. The atmosphere was nice, and it was a perfect place for a little break.
