Honest Impression: Located a few minutes' walk from Shijo Station, this slightly hidden gem offers a cozy atmosphere in a traditional Kyoto townhouse. The main attraction here is the round-shaped taiyaki, priced at ¥230 each with three varieties available: red bean, custard (with Amakusa green tea), and mixed (half red bean, half custard). The texture is fluffy and moist, making it a perfect snack when you're a bit peckish. Not overly sweet, it's easy to enjoy without getting tired of it. Definitely worth a visit!

The location is a bit hard to find but it's a popular place with a waiting line. The atmosphere inside is nice. The staff's hospitality is great, they suggested moving us to a four-person table even though we were just two. The taiyaki is cute and delicious. The staff's taiyaki T-shirts were lovely.

About a 7-minute walk from the municipal subway Karasuma Shijo Station, this shop is located a bit off the main road. You can enjoy eating in or takeout. Inside, soft jazz music plays, creating a very calming atmosphere. Today, I ordered a mixed taiyaki and an iced coffee for 600 yen. The mixed taiyaki had both red bean paste and custard filling, and it was served piping hot. It was the perfect combination with the iced coffee. I had a lovely time in the evening.

Sweet Taiyaki drink set! I went to a Taiyaki and coffee shop in Shijo! Honestly, I thought, is there really a Taiyaki shop in a back alley like this? And there really was, haha. This time I ordered Taiyaki with red bean paste filling! The coffee was iced coffee! The Taiyaki was round in shape. It's cute, isn't it? The outer shell is crispy, and the inside is chewy! The dough has a hint of salt and the red bean paste is sweet. The iced coffee has a refreshing taste with a hint of bitterness, which goes well with the Taiyaki. It was delicious! Thank you for the meal!

This time, the store was full, so I decided to get takeout. When I saw the photos beforehand, I thought it would be smaller, but it was actually about 9cm in diameter and packed full of filling, so it was heavier than it looked and had a good amount of volume. The types of fillings are common, but personally, I recommend the custard! The store is located at the end of a narrow alley with a nice atmosphere, so first-time visitors might get lost. There is a small sign at the entrance of the alley, so be careful not to overlook it and muster up the courage to venture to the back of the alley! Delicious taiyaki and coffee are waiting for you!

Located just a few minutes' walk from Shijo Station on the Kyoto City Subway, this shop is named after coffee and taiyaki (fish-shaped cake filled with sweet red bean paste). It is tucked away in a traditional Kyoto machiya alley, making it a bit hard to find but creating a hidden gem where you can relax. Whether you choose to take out or dine in, be prepared to wait a bit as they carefully bake your order. It's a perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a coffee after a day of exploring the city. [Taiyaki] The taiyaki here is unique with its round shape, featuring a beautifully crispy outer layer that is perfectly cooked. The fish shape and design are also quite charming. The inside batter is fluffy and easy to eat, different from the crispy exterior. You can choose from three fillings: red bean paste, custard (with Amakusa green tea), or a mix. The red bean paste is not too sweet, offering a gentle and satisfying taste. The custard has a subtle sweetness with a hint of green tea, creating a surprisingly delightful combination. Both fillings are generously stuffed inside the taiyaki, making it delicious. Paired with a cold dark roast iced coffee, the elegant sweetness of the taiyaki complements the coffee perfectly. Both the coffee and taiyaki reflect the dedication to quality from Kyoto and Amakusa. The shop also sells cute goods from Amakusa, adding more value to your visit. I definitely want to go back to this place.

I have always wanted to visit a stylish taiyaki shop that my overseas friend discovered during their trip to Kyoto. The round taiyaki is too cute! The shop is hidden in an alley and is like a hidden gem. Once you enter the shop, jazz music is playing. They also sell original merchandise, which is adorable. There are table seats, a courtyard, and a counter. This place offers a small, soothing space. The taiyaki is a mix of red bean paste and custard. The custard has green tea in it, which is unique. The custard has a strong green tea flavor, and the red bean paste is not too sweet but rather subtle. This combination is great! The dough is thick like a pancake with a hint of saltiness. The saltiness of the dough paired with the red bean paste and custard is a perfect match. The coffee is also delicious with a deep roast. This cute and delicious taiyaki shop with a charming atmosphere left me impressed. Thank you for the meal!

Round and cute taiyaki at "Amai Iro Coffee and Taiyaki" in Kyoto! This popular spot offers delicious taiyaki and coffee in the heart of Kyoto. The shop is located in a hidden alley near the bustling Shijo-Karasuma area, just a 2-minute walk from Shijo Station. The character on the sign is inspired by the local hero, Ten Amakusa Shiro. The shop mainly focuses on takeout, but there are also seats available for enjoying your taiyaki with coffee or soda. The taiyaki comes in three flavors: red bean, custard, and a mix of both. The custard recipe was supervised by a renowned pastry chef. Enjoy the unique round taiyaki with a hot cup of coffee for a perfect treat away from the city noise. Don't forget to snap a picture on the bench outside while savoring your taiyaki!

I wandered around in circles before finally finding the shop. It was a cute shop at the end of a narrow alley, with a stylish interior and various miscellaneous goods on display. I bought taiyaki as a gift for my daughter's part-time job, and got one for myself to enjoy on the way back on the Shinkansen train. 😊

A few years ago, I saw this coffee and taiyaki shop on Instagram and I've been wanting to go ever since. It's located about a 2-minute walk from Shijo Subway Station. The shop is tucked away in a back alley off the main street. Thanks to the detailed directions on their website, I was able to find it without getting lost. When I arrived around 1:30 pm, there were only a few customers, one for takeout and one dining in, and it remained quiet during my visit. The highlight of the shop is their round taiyaki! The set with a hot coffee and taiyaki costs ¥500 (tax included). Just look at the scales and fins on this three-dimensional taiyaki, it's like a work of art. The sponge-like batter is light and fluffy, with a crispy, fragrant layer on the outside where it touches the mold. The secret to this beautiful taiyaki is not just the mold from "Marukin Seika," but also the fluffy batter. When you bite into it, you'll find a red bean paste filling in the center, which is my go-to for taiyaki. The coffee was smooth without any bitterness, and it paired well with the red bean taiyaki. The taiyaki costs ¥230, and the coffee costs ¥340, so the set is a great deal. If you plan to dine in, I recommend getting the drink set. The seating consists of about 6 counter seats and one table for 2-4 people. It's a small shop with dim lighting, jazz playing softly in the background, creating a calm atmosphere. The taiyaki was delicious! The unique mold and the three-dimensional finish are impressive. The skill of the staff in achieving this is remarkable. I regret not trying the custard filling, which is said to be a specialty of the shop, maybe next time I'll try both custard and red bean. My next visit to Kyoto is undecided, but I definitely want to revisit this shop. Thank you for the meal! Summary: - You can enjoy a unique round taiyaki with a distinctive mold. - The three-dimensional finish is like a work of art. - The custard filling is a specialty of the shop. - I want to come back and try both custard and red bean fillings.

I have been seeing this place on Google Maps for a while and found it interesting, so I decided to finally visit today. The location is charming, just like its name suggests, a hidden town that reminded me of the old parts of my hometown. It's not because of any historical significance, but simply because it has many small roads. The round taiyaki, rather than the fish-shaped one, is unique to me (is it common in Nishikyo?). It is intricately decorated with flower patterns. Personally, I think it would look more like a taiyaki if it were half-eaten and beautiful. After trying the traditional red bean paste taiyaki, I also tasted the new custard flavor (although in Japan, both are considered the standard taiyaki filling). This was my first time trying a taiyaki with a filling other than red bean paste. I usually don't like mixing Western elements with traditional Japanese food, but I decided to give it a try this time. The custard was quite different from what I expected, with a texture and taste more like pudding. Interestingly, in Japan, pudding is just a small part of British cuisine called "pudding," with the full name being "custard pudding." It was delicious, but it felt a bit strange. I will definitely come back. The place was crowded in the afternoon.

It's a cute shop located deep in an alley, reminiscent of my grandmother's house. I arrived after 2 o'clock. Perhaps because it was a weekday, there were no other customers. They started baking the cute round taiyaki after I placed my order. I ordered the mixed flavor. I also bought some as souvenirs. I ate inside the shop, but the taste was just okay despite its cuteness. There was nothing to praise about the skin, red bean paste, or custard. The shop is cute, so if the taste was better, I might consider going back, but I probably won't go again.

Visited the taiyaki specialty store "Amairo" in the Shijo-Karasuma area. Tried the Custard flavor (¥230). Even though I usually love red bean paste, when I come here, I always go for custard. The sweetness is mild, with a smoothness from the egg, and a distinct green tea flavor. The thickness of the batter is just right. In the world of taiyaki, thin batter is often considered the best, but I don't really like it when it's too thin. Of course, being too thick is also not good. The batter here is chewy and elastic, with a 1:1 ratio of batter to filling. As always, it was delicious. Much better than the famous taiyaki shops in Tokyo.

Today, I went to dinner with Kei and we bought three different taiyaki from Amairo, the shop next to us. Amairo sells round taiyaki based on the recipe of Marukin Seika, a long-established taiyaki shop in Amakusa. Inside the taiyaki, you can choose from three types: red bean paste, custard, or mixed. The taiyaki skin is moist and firm, with a strong presence, and the filling and custard inside are also rich in flavor. It was quite different from the taiyaki I am used to, as it is a heavier type that made my stomach feel full after just one. For those who prefer a heavier and stronger-tasting taiyaki, I recommend Amairo's taiyaki. Today's menu: 2,250 yen for 4 taiyaki, 250 yen each for 3 red bean paste, 3 custard, and 3 mixed.

The taste was not just average but rather unpleasant. I struggled to finish it. I ordered a custard taiyaki, but it was not very sweet and didn't go well with the taiyaki dough. Additionally, for some reason, there was something like matcha inside the custard, which made it taste weird. I couldn't really feel like I was eating a custard taiyaki.

The round taiyaki at Amairo is delicious. The shop is located at the back of a narrow alley and features cute illustrations of Tenmei Shiro. They sell merchandise as well. The taiyaki comes in two flavors: red bean paste and custard. The custard has a cream made with Amakusa green tea leaves, giving it a subtle tea aroma. I tried it in the store. The prices will change from July 1, 2022. I did some research on Instagram before my trip to Kyoto. I got a little lost while following the navigation, but eventually arrived. I was surprised to find such a charming place hidden in the alleyway! I was thinking of getting the traditional sweet red bean paste, but they had a limited edition sweet potato option, so I went with that. The rich flavor paired with coffee was amazing! It was so delicious and really gave me a taste of Kyoto. I wish we had a place like this over here too!

Located in Shimogyo Ward, Amairo Cafe is a hidden gem tucked away in a quiet alley. Their specialty is taiyaki, and this time I tried the mixed filling option. The freshly baked taiyaki comes out piping hot and is served with a charming round shape. It's almost a shame to eat it, but the balance between the subtly sweet red bean paste and smooth custard filling is just perfect. The design of the taiyaki, with its connected head and tail, is quite endearing. They also have a variety of cute merchandise that caught my eye. Overall, it was delicious and I highly recommend it. Thank you for the wonderful meal. Check out my Instagram @k_kazukun for more food adventures.

❤️・・To @amairo.cafe in Kyoto Karasuma, a shop where I've wanted to go for a long time. They serve round and cute taiyaki, which goes perfectly with iced coffee. It's a perfect place for a little break. Just by turning down a street, you get a retro vibe that makes you excited, even if you live in Kyoto. This time, I dined in, but they also offer takeout, making it a great option for food hopping while exploring Kyoto. They have 3 types of taiyaki, and I chose custard and red bean paste this time. There's also a mixed option with both fillings. Taiyaki costs ¥230 each, including tax. The iced coffee set is ¥550 including tax, and the iced coffee with cafe au lait set is ¥600 including tax. When you visit Kyoto, I recommend checking out this lovely shop. 🌸::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::🌸#amairocoffeeandtaiyaki #KyotoCafe #KyotoCafeHopping #KyotoCafeScene #Taiyaki #IcedCoffee #KarasumaCafe #Karasuma #KansaiCafe #KansaiCafeHopping #KyotoSweets #KyotoSweetsHopping #WantToConnectWithSweetsLovers #WantToConnectWithCafeLovers #WantToConnectWithKyotoLovers #LetsGoToKyoto #KyotoExploration #KyotoFoodHopping #foodie #instagood #cafestagram #CappuccinoSanGourmet @amairo.cafe @genic_cafe @genic_sweets @retrip_kyoto_ @retrip_cafe @kyoto_select @8538k
