Town Chinese restaurants are trending, and every time I see them in the media, my desire to go there increases. I made my first visit to Junkarou, which has been selected as one of the top 100 Chinese restaurants. I made a reservation for my visit! The appearance and atmosphere are just like a typical town Chinese restaurant, with a traditional feel and a round table for one group. The menu is in Japanese and Chinese. It's worth noting that once you order a menu item, you cannot order it again (you can, but you will be advised not to, so it's better to order the necessary amount for your group at the beginning). There was no explanation provided, but maybe it's an unspoken agreement due to being busy?
We ordered the following dishes: pan-fried dumplings, stir-fried pork and bell peppers, steamed chicken with Sichuan sesame chili sauce, mapo tofu Sichuan style with five ingredients fried rice, shark fin simmered in broth (2 pieces), crab omelette spring rolls, fried chicken, jellyfish and cucumber, shrimp chili, and water spinach. We also ordered some other dishes, but I forgot their names haha. When you order this much, it wouldn't be surprising if they gave you a strange look when you try to order a second time haha. However, all the dishes were delicious and the portions were about 2.5 servings per person, so it's cost-effective. Dishes with Sichuan style in their name are quite spicy and have a strong ethnic flavor, so be careful if you're not a fan of spicy food! On the other hand, if you like it, I recommend it! The spiciness goes well with alcohol, and even without alcohol, the rice goes well with the rich flavor. Adding more dumplings got me scolded haha, but the dumplings are so delicious with the meat juice! It's just right to order about 2 servings per person at the beginning!!
The spring rolls were probably cut for convenience, but when you cut spring rolls, the texture becomes unpleasant.. That was disappointing, but the filling inside was delicious, so it was forgivable haha. There is no bias, but all the staff were Chinese! There may be cultural differences, but the informal polite language and lack of response may make you slightly anxious when ordering, but there were no issues at all! Thank you for the meal!
