Popular bakery nationwide, Tamaki-tei. Arrived on Sunday at 8:55, the on-site parking lot was full, but there are many parking lots nearby. About 10 people were waiting in line. "Dandan France" for 270 yen - A sandwich with black beans from Tamba Sasayama and condensed milk cream, providing a perfect balance of sweetness from the moist black beans and the combination with condensed milk cream is a classic. "Curry Bread" for 270 yen - Original curry made with beef, red wine, honey, and spices, simmered for a long time. The juicy beef and spicy curry had a strong umami flavor. "Cream Bread" for 230 yen - Original custard cream made with chilled butter from Takanashi Dairy, fresh cream, and vanilla from Madagascar, with plenty of fluffy custard cream! "Tamaki-tei Original Cream Bread" for 260 yen - Custard cream made with chilled butter from Takanashi Dairy, fresh cream, and vanilla from Madagascar, with a hint of fresh cream flavor in this cream bread. "Croissant Tamaki" for 240 yen - Croissant made with Hokkaido butter, with a crispy texture on the surface and a delicious buttery flavor in this large croissant. All the bread items are larger in size and may look ordinary, but they are delicious with a strong wheat flavor when eaten. Not just hard bread, but also a casual and approachable feeling, making it easy to purchase.

When I visited Byodoin Temple last year, it was closed. A 3-day weekend system? They must put a lot of effort into careful preparation! I was looking forward to it, so I was shocked! I was disappointed at that time. This time in Kyoto, just before heading home, I planned to stop by this shop in Uji and then return to Tokyo. I planned to visit in the afternoon, and I didn't want to be shocked again if there was nothing, so I called in advance and was told that I could make a reservation for bread. I reserved a baguette and headed there with peace of mind. The parking lot was crowded, and there seemed to be several parking lots for the shop, but I didn't know the area. I asked the security guard in front of the shop and managed to park somehow. There was also a long line in front of the shop. There are many people here just to visit this shop! The turnover is good, so we were able to enter without much waiting. Inside the shop, there is a line along the bread shelf. There are plenty of bread varieties. However, if you don't pick them up on the spot, you might not be able to get them later. I wanted to try the Knead in Yurakucho, but I couldn't find it on the shelf, which was disappointing. I bought the baguette I had reserved, a bread with chestnut, a cream bread, a cream croissant, and a burnt bread. The cream bread tastes the same as the one at Knead. Delicious, I feel like I got a good deal. Especially the cream croissant is exquisite. The bread with chestnut didn't look very eye-catching, but when you take a bite, it's delicious! This chestnut is delicious! (^∇^) It goes well with the hard bread dough. The dough has a strong pull characteristic of high hydration, with a strong wheat flavor. If it's a seasonal item, it's a must-buy right now. I should have bought more. I regret it. Burnt bread = rusk. It's crispy like a snack. Slightly caramel-flavored and sweet. It's satisfying to eat, and it's also delicious! I will reheat and eat the baguette at home. The crust is slightly thick, the crumb has a good size of bubbles, making it easy to eat, and the wheat flavor is perfect. It's great! Whether it's the shop's bread, sweet bread, or hard bread, they all have a strong pull, a good chew, and they're delicious! It was worth stopping by. Very satisfied. It's delicious. Thank you for the meal.

【Listed in the Top 100 Restaurants in 2022】 A renowned bakery in Uji, no, in Kyoto. The free parking lot has plenty of spaces, so we arrived by car around 11:30 on a Sunday. There was no line outside, so we entered the store quickly. We were able to smoothly make our purchases after entering. We bought 7 items including the recommended chocolate croissant. The chocolate croissant had a crispy texture that made it enjoyable with the chocolate and cream. It was a refrigerated product, which added to its excellence. The other items were also of high quality, and what's surprising is the variety available. It seems like you would need to visit at least 5 times to try everything. I definitely want to come back again.

Today, I stopped by here on the way to Lake Biwa. I've been wanting to come here because I heard there's always a long line. Finally, I made it. They have a wide variety of deli bread, including Kyoto specialties like green onion and tea bread. I would like to come back when I'm in the area again. Thank you.

This popular bakery, ranked 9th nationwide on Tabelog, made me buy bread even though I skipped lunch. I originally planned to get just one Bacon Hearth, but at the register, they said there's a limit of 2 per family. I couldn't resist after seeing the display. I ate it right away. The crispy pie crust filled with fresh custard should be a hit. My favorite Bacon Hearth has chunky bacon inside, seasoned heavily with pepper. Delicious.

I can't decide and end up buying too much every time because there are so many types to choose from... I spend about 5000 yen each time just on bread, but I have no regrets because they are all delicious. It's a shop I love so much that I always want to visit when I come to Kyoto.

Popular restaurant in Uji, Kyoto. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is also lovely. - Tandan France 270 yen You can clearly taste the flavor of wheat. Plenty of black beans. - Chestnut Hojicha Melon Pan 270 yen Two large chestnuts. Very filling. - Green Onion and Gouda Cheese 290 yen Reheated in a toaster, the rice cracker was crispy and great volume and cost performance. - Mizuna and Pastrami Beef Sandwich The pastrami beef had a nice kick. Tasted delicious with a strong mustard flavor. - Walnut Anpan Renmilk (No photo) 260 yen Crispy texture. Will definitely come back. All relatively reasonable prices, which is one of the reasons to visit often. Thank you for the meal ☺️

Tamaki-tei @ Obaku. * Peach Croissant ▶︎ 450 yen * Hojicha Bread Three-Layer ▶︎ 310 yen * Nagasaki Melon Pan ▶︎ 240 yen * Green Onion and Gouda Cheese Bread ▶︎ 290 yen * Knyahne ▶︎ 250 yen all excluding tax. A bakery in Obaku that I've always wanted to visit. I arrived on a weekday just after 10 o'clock, and was able to enter the store with hardly any waiting time. There were about 15 people inside the store. It was great to have plenty of parking spaces! Knyahne, limited to 2 per family, has cream added on the spot, making the dough crispy and crunchy. I bought it and ate it right in front of the store. The Peach Croissant is a limited-time item, limited to 3 per family. It features a lightly lemon-scented peach, plenty of custard cream, white chocolate, and walnuts. I was pleasantly surprised by the various ingredients, not just peach and cream. Good combination. The downside is that it's difficult to take away as it is a refrigerated product. The Hojicha Three-Layer features hojicha dough with sweet bean paste, chestnuts, and condensed milk. It's sweeter than expected because of the sweet bean paste and condensed milk. It feels like an evolved version of anpan! The hojicha flavor is subtle, and the chestnut is light. When the Nagasaki Melon Pan is toasted before eating, the sugar and cookie dough become crispy, providing an excellent texture. Butter is thoroughly soaked inside. The Green Onion and Gouda Cheese Bread has a strong cheese and green onion flavor, offering a satisfying taste. It's made with French bread dough and topped with breadcrumbs for a crispy texture. It's recommended to reheat it! The small piece of bread shoe (French bread dough with diced bacon and potatoes) was delicious with a hint of basil. There were too many types of bread to choose from, so I want to go back again! #Tamaki-tei #UjiBakery #KyotoBakery #YuzuBakeryCommunity

I visited the bakery "Tamaki Tei" in Uji, Kyoto. The nearest station is Oubaku Station on the JR Nara Line. It is a peaceful town with few pedestrians and lots of greenery. Despite my doubts, I walked about 7 minutes wondering if Kyoto's number one bakery with long lines really existed. When I arrived around 7:30 am due to traveling from a distance, there was already a line of about 50 to 60 people, even in the scorching heat and early morning. The bakery is truly popular! I waited for over an hour to enter. The store is spacious and filled with unique and delicious bread that can only be found there. The items I took out this time were: Croissant - ¥240, Peach Croissant - ¥450, Baked Berry Cheesecake - ¥350. The croissant with two types of dough, one using Campagne dough, has a crispy surface but when you bite into it, you can taste the butter and wheat flavors from within, making it flavorful and highlighting the deliciousness of the two doughs. The Peach Croissant, though its size and appearance may not convey it, is quite substantial! The weight when held hints at the combination of peach and cream inside. It is an irresistible croissant with flavorful dough, fresh and juicy peach, and plenty of cream. The Baked Berry Cheesecake with slightly grainy berry sauce, tangy cream cheese, and crispy Danish pastry is excellent! This shop shines with creativity and dedication, making it a wonderful place worth lining up for even from afar! It was delicious! Thank you very much.

The bread at the super delicious bakery Tamaki-tei is always a hit no matter which one you choose. I visited around 1 p.m. on a Saturday and there were always about three groups lined up outside the shop. I bought the Dan Dan France, Japanese chestnut bread, and Bostock. I always have my favorites and end up buying the same ones each time. The delicious hard bread with a rich wheat aroma, the black bean and condensed milk butter cream, the Japanese chestnut and condensed milk butter cream, and the Bostock with plenty of butter-soaked almond toppings - they were all incredibly delicious. Even though I had to wait in line, I can't wait to go back again.

I finally got to visit Tamagi-tei, a place I've been wanting to go for so long! It's about a 1-hour drive from Osaka. Having a parking lot was convenient. I arrived around 1 pm on a weekday. They had about half of their menu available, but it was still a lot! There were also many refrigerated items like condensed milk cream desserts. The black bean and condensed milk one was the most delicious! Freshly baked items kept coming out one after another!

When it comes to Uji in Kyoto, Ujicha and the bakery Tamagiya are a must. I finally made it to this long-awaited bread heaven. Luckily, there was an open parking space and a courteous attendant. As soon as I entered, the smell of breadcrumbs and freshly baked bread was amazing. A variety of breads were lined up: curry bread, cream bread, sandwiches, croissants. I immediately tried the cream bread, and it was of exceptional quality, almost in a league of its own! The bread was soft and chewy, the cream was subtly sweet, and the smooth vanilla beans spread in my mouth afterwards. Delicious. They also had kunyanne! Limited to two per person, but it's more than enough. If you can try it, do it. Once you bite into the crispy crust with the cream, there's nothing more to say. Is it a cake? Is it bread? It's just too good. I envy those who live nearby. The prices are reasonable too. I'm grateful for being able to eat here. Grateful for being able to come. I came from Gunma. It's a memorable stop on my journey. I want to visit again someday. Tamagiya, your bread was the best. Thank you. Bon appétit.

A famous bakery selected as one of the top 100 restaurants on Tabelog in front of Kyoto University Uji Campus. Finally got a chance to visit. There was already a line before 9 am. Despite being relatively spacious for a bakery, the line extended all the way to the register. The popular Kneine was crispy. Filled with custard cream that's not too sweet, it's popular and priced at 250 yen for up to 2 pieces per person (as of July 2023). The price was justified once I tried it. I also bought curry bread and hard bread to take home, and it seemed like others were buying a lot too. There were 6 parking spaces in front of the store with a guard, but it was not enough due to the popularity on a Sunday morning. I later realized there are many other parking lots available. Anyway, the Kneine, ham, and Camembert cheese bread were super delicious! Will conquer the rest from now on!

[Visit Date: Late July 2023] Visited around 11 a.m. on a holiday, with a rating of 3.89 at the time of visit. Listed in the "Tabelog Bread WEST Top 100 Stores 2022." Visited by walking from JR Obaku Station. A popular spot with security guards in the parking lot. Waited behind 15 people... quite impressive. After about 15 minutes of waiting, entered the store. The variety of bread is amazing... many types I've never seen before. Picked out about 5 breads that caught my eye for now. I wanted to buy more actually. Prices are around ¥300 each. There are also breads with local names, seemingly made with local specialties. The quality is high, so I'm very satisfied. Apparently, this store has something called "Kunyane," but it was sold out without me even catching a glimpse of it. Wonder what it is. Thank you for the meal.

"Kunyané" was sold out, could only buy 2 per person. I arrived at 7:00 when it opened at 8:30, there was a limit on the number of people allowed inside due to the long line. All types of bread are delicious. There are many hard bread options. They have stopped selling mountain bread and will not make it anymore. I bought a loaf of square bread, olive and bacon bread, and a walnut and red bean paste bread with condensed milk.

I was able to take a day off on a weekday, so I decided to visit the number one bakery in Kyoto. As soon as I entered the store, a delightful aroma filled the air. There were so many types of bread lined up, and just looking at them was enjoyable. I bought a lot of bread and enjoyed them on the campus of the university nearby. This bakery is definitely one I want to visit again.

Visited around 10 am on Sunday morning. There was a line in front of the shop. There are a few parking spaces in front of the shop. I was able to make a purchase after waiting for about 30 minutes, so the wait was not as long as I had imagined. Croissant 240 yen, Juicy Potato 250 yen, Nagasaki Melon Bread 240 yen, Cream Bread 230 yen, Blueberry Walnut Cream 280 yen, Kunyawassan 270 yen, Maple Croissant 160 yen, Blueberry Cheese Bread 260 yen, Cream Croissant 310 yen, Chestnut Bread 300 yen, Loaf Bread 380 yen. Since you pick up the bread in a single line and can't really go back, if you're unsure, just grab it, and it turned out to be a lot of bread, haha. Some people were even carrying two huge paper bags and going home. Maybe everyone ends up taking too much (convincing oneself). The croissant and Danish dough were incredibly delicious. The cream croissant was the best!!! Most items are priced at 300 yen or less, so I think it's reasonably priced. The loaf bread was almost too cheap... Thank you for the meal.

A bakery located in front of the Uji Campus of Kyoto University. I arrived by car around 11:30 AM but there was already a line. Although there were several parking lots available, they were all full. I left the car to my companion and lined up alone. The parking lot seemed to have opened up shortly after, and the car was parked quickly. I entered the shop after waiting in line for about 30 minutes. Inside the shop, there were many different types of bread displayed. I heard that the cream-based bread was delicious, so I looked around that area. Unfortunately, the Kuniya bread I was aiming for was sold out. I also purchased some savory bread such as curry bread and bacon bread. After the purchase, I got some coffee from Starbucks near Byodoin Temple and enjoyed it comfortably on a bench along the Uji River. I ended up buying too much and forgot to take pictures of some, but everything was delicious. It was worth the wait!

Arrived a little after opening time. There was already a long line...! Waited for about 40 minutes to buy. ○ Cask Route (prosciutto) 410 yen Crispy skin + chewy bread baguette, with prosciutto, thinly sliced lemon, olive oil, etc. Personally, I found the seasoning a bit strong. A bit salty. ○ Tandan France 270 yen Soft bread with milk cream and large black beans, delicious. ○ Hard-baked butter 250 yen Bread with butter inside, when reheated, butter sizzles from the bottom of the bread... This is quite oily and might not be to everyone's taste... but when you eat it, the amount of butter is indeed impressive, but it's not unpleasantly greasy, it's exquisitely delicious...! Probably has a salty taste like salt bread due to the taste of butter. As you eat, there are hollow spaces inside where semi-melted butter was found, so I imagine there was a considerable amount of butter inside. Also, the baguette bread is incredibly delicious. ○ Pan Chou 280 yen Cubed bacon, mashed potatoes, garlic butter inside. Spicy seasoning, quite spicy for those who don't like spicy food. Personally, I found it salty too.

I saw on Instagram that the peach croissants had started, so I went there for that. I arrived at the shop a little after 10 am on a weekday because they tend to sell out in the morning. I was able to park in the front parking lot, and they still had plenty of peach croissants left, which was great! I always end up buying too much, so I had to remind myself not to overdo it. I managed to keep it under 2000 yen somehow. I bought the buttery hard-baked bread that I couldn't get last time (@250), my favorite three-layered hojicha tea bread (@310), shrimp focaccia that my child likes (@470), my husband's favorite bacon hearts (@260), and two peach croissants (@450 each).

On the way to Kyoto, I heard about this bakery on the radio, so I decided to stop by on the way back. It was just before 4 pm, so there wasn't much of a line and I could get in quickly! However, there weren't many types of bread available... even the sandwich bread was sold out. It's all about timing, right? There weren't many menu items that caught my eye, and the filling in the sweet buns wasn't clearly labeled as either smooth red bean paste or chunky red bean paste (it's usually indicated, right?). Despite that, I managed to choose about 4 items and made a purchase. They were delicious, but I wonder if it's really worth becoming such a popular shop? Maybe my taste in bread has changed? I'd like to give it another try at an earlier time.
