Located just north of Demachiyanagi Station in Sakyo-ku, Kyoto. This is a well-known traditional Japanese sweets shop, established in 1856, specializing in wagashi and desserts. One of their famous items is the Ajari Mochi, which you can purchase individually. Today's snack: Ajari Mochi for 141 yen. This sweet treat features a chewy dough made from a mix of rice and wheat flour, filled with grains of Tanba Adzuki bean paste. The moist and chewy texture combined with a subtly elegant sweetness was delicious. Thank you for the treat! ❤️

Ajari Mochi - 5 pieces - 702 yen Established in 1856, Ajari Mochi is a famous traditional Japanese confectionery shop. Ajari Mochi is said to be a confectionery made by kneading various ingredients including eggs into a dough based on rice flour, wrapping it with Azuki bean paste made from Tanba Dainagon beans, and baking it on a hot plate. When you taste it, you'll find the moist and chewy texture of the dough made from rice flour and wheat flour, along with the subtly elegant sweetness of the Tanba Dainagon bean paste. It truly is a confectionery that allows you to feel the history of Kyoto.

I love this place. When I visited Kyoto before, the station's store was sold out in the evening. The next time I came by car, we prioritized Fubatsumochi, so we didn't go to this store, and my companion was disappointed. Amidst the incredible crowds, we finally made it part of our travel itinerary this time. The surrounding area is filled with expensive coin parking lots, but this store has about five parking spaces right in front of it. Very customer-friendly. They sell individual pieces, but my companion insisted on ordering four even though two would have been enough for the two of us. It was a bit embarrassing when we were called out loudly as the customers with four pieces, with everyone else buying full boxes. We ate them back in Tokyo. The skin was chewy and soft, like eating shiratama mochi. The red bean paste inside wasn't too sweet, and the overall taste was elegantly Kyoto-like. A taste of tradition, wonderful. Delicious. Thank you for the meal.

This is the third stop on my Kyoto gourmet tour! I heard about and tried "Ajari Mochi" for the first time in my life. Ajari Mochi is a traditional Kyoto sweet originating from Kyoto, made by wrapping grains of Tamba Dainagon azuki bean paste in a dough made of mochi flour, wheat flour, and eggs, then baking it. It was delightfully chewy, like a dorayaki. I'm glad I discovered this delicious treat. Instead of buying Yatsuhashi as a Kyoto souvenir, get Ajari Mochi - it's sure to be appreciated!

It was a must-visit restaurant, so it was surprisingly my first post (;´∀`) The prices have gone up a bit (^^; unavoidable in these times (/≧ω\) but it's a classic snack (*´˘`*)♥ A must-have course after visiting the grave (◍˃̶ᗜ˂̶◍)ノ"

I visited before going to Shimogamo Shrine. I had seen it occasionally at department store events, but it was my first time visiting the main store. It was around 3 o'clock in the evening, but the Ajari mochi I was looking for was still available. There were quite a few customers coming in one after another, but other items were not sold out, so I think they are prepared in considerable quantities. Since it was freshly made and still slightly warm, I had one right after purchasing it. It had a chewy and moist texture like a dorayaki with an elegant sweetness, and it was delicious. Especially the freshly made one cannot be tasted when purchased at an event, so I think it's a great deal for Ajari mochi fans. Thank you for the meal.

I went to Kyoto after a long time. When it comes to souvenirs from Kyoto, this is it! Ajari Mochi, with a chewy skin and just the right amount of sweet red bean paste inside ♡ It's pronounced as "Ajari Mochi"! Both my friends and colleagues at work were very pleased with it. Of course, it's a must-have for myself too! They sell it in boxes or individually, so you can buy even just one if you want. There's a parking lot in front of the shop, and although I didn't count, it seems like you can park about 4 to 5 cars. I visited on a Saturday afternoon at the end of July around 2:30 PM, and I could easily park in the parking lot. There were a few customers inside, but the staff efficiently assisted us, so we could make our purchase almost immediately without much waiting. I'll definitely visit again~^_^

Awa-ji mochi is famous as a Kyoto confectionery, right? You can see it in department stores and such. However, I had never eaten it before. So this time, I bought Awa-ji mochi and wanted to write my impressions. The appearance is flat. It's a little raised maybe because there is sweet bean paste inside. Now, the taste that I was curious about... The texture of the dough is moist and chewy, sweet and delicious! Since it's called "mochi," I thought there might be mochi inside, but it's only sweet bean paste inside! The dough itself was like mochi. I can understand why this is popular.

● Ajari Mochi (Japanese confectionery) Registered Trademark Kyoto Famous Confectionery 122kcal per piece Short expiration date due to being a fresh confectionery. The moment you take it out of the bag, it feels soft and fluffy. When you take a bite, it's chewy and soft, giving a surprising texture that seems like it would leave fingerprints. Inside is smooth red bean paste. This is something I would wait in line for. If it becomes hard, you can heat it in the oven or deep fry with a thin batter for a unique and delicious flavor.

I love Adzuki bean paste mochi and whenever I come to Kyoto, I always buy some. My niece and nephew also love it, so I always buy plenty on my way back. At Mangetsu Honten, where you can eat freshly made Adzuki bean paste mochi, I decided to visit the main store. I bought three pieces individually. Without making a face, the staff kindly asked, "Would you like to eat them right away?" When I said "yes," they told me to please sit in the chairs inside, so I gratefully took a seat. It was slightly warm and soft! Freshly made Adzuki bean paste mochi is exceptional. The staff was also polite. I really wanted to buy souvenirs here, but it would have been too much to carry, so I bought them right before boarding the Shinkansen... I'm sorry... But the main store is the best. My niece also said she wants to eat freshly made Adzuki bean paste mochi, so I hope to go together next time.

Ajari mochi is delicious and I often buy it, but I wanted to visit the main store once... I arrived at 5:00 PM. It was for takeout. Ajari mochi. It had been a while since I last had it, but the skin was chewy and the red bean paste inside was delicious! It might be a matter of preference, but it feels like the main store tastes better. I thought this store would have a lot of Japanese sweets, but there were only four types. They must be confident.

I used to think that it didn't matter whether I bought Adzuki bean rice cakes at a kiosk or at JR Nagoya Takashimaya, but my husband, who loves Adzuki bean rice cakes, insisted that the main store is different! So, we made a special trip to the main store, where we could enjoy freshly baked, slightly warm Adzuki bean rice cakes. The skin was softer and chewier than what we usually eat, but even when reheated in a toaster two days later at home, it wasn't bad at all. I might even prefer this version since I'm more used to it. Thank you for the delicious meal! 🌟

I visited Ajari Mochi Honpo Kagashiji Mantuki Honten located on Marutamachi Street, Kamigyo-ku, Kyoto, Japan. It is about a 7-minute walk from Demachiyanagi Station on the Keihan Kamotou Line and Eizan Electric Railway, and about a 4-minute walk from the Hyakumanben bus stop in Kyoto City (routes 3, 17, 31, 65, Express 102, 201, 203, 206), making it easily accessible by public transportation. There are also several parking lots in front of the shop, making it convenient for those traveling by car. I purchased the famous Kyoto confectionery, Ajari Mochi (1 piece for 141 yen) this time. In the 11th year of the Taisho era, the second-generation owner invented and released Ajari Mochi. Ajari Mochi is a popular local souvenir sweet in Kyoto. It is a half-baked confectionery carefully baked, wrapped in Mantuki's secret mochi dough that combines various ingredients with Tanba Dainagon's grain bean paste, a representative sweet loved by locals in Kyoto. The dough has a moist texture. It tasted delicious with the exquisite sweetness of the homemade bean paste. I would like to visit again if I have the chance. Thank you very much!

Visited on a weekday around 10:30 AM. There were only 4 other customers, so I was able to make a purchase quickly. This is the main store of Ajari mochi, which is popular as a souvenir from Kyoto. This time, I bought two "Ajari mochi" for 141 yen each. They were warm when I received them, so they might have been freshly made. They were small, about 5cm in size. The texture was chewy and had a nice elasticity. The sweetness was just right, and the flavor of the Tamba Dainagon adzuki beans was well pronounced. They can last for 5 days. They are cost-effective and make a great Kyoto souvenir. Thank you for the meal.

I visited Mangetsu Main Store for the first time. I purchased one Ajari Mochi. It comes in a package and is warm. It seems freshly made. The texture of the dough is chewy, the flavor is good, and the sweet red bean paste is not too sweet, making it delicious. Thank you for the meal.

There aren't many types of items, but... the Azuki bean paste rice cake is definitely the highlight, right? Even the staff confirmed that. I got just one and paid 140 yen in cash since I had some change in my wallet. I will visit the last shop. I had it at home in the evening... the texture of the bean paste and rice cake inside is exquisite and delicious.

Ajari mochi 140 yen ✖️ 5 pieces As a souvenir for my wife series Today, on the way back from Kyoto-style ramen at Akuta River, my wife requested to eat Japanese sweets, so I searched for a nearby Japanese sweets shop and found this delicious-looking place. In a residential area, with a large parking lot, a large charming building, and a security guard. Suddenly, it feels like a proper store! The store is spacious, and the staff is efficient. The main product is Ajari mochi, where you can choose the number of pieces. There were also yokan and manju available. When I asked the staff how many pieces I could buy, they said I could buy from one piece. Other customers had a strong Kyoto Mademoiselle vibe, and everyone seemed to be buying in boxes, so I thought they must be buying quite a lot, but I only wanted about three pieces. However, due to the low price and my stubbornness, I ended up buying five pieces!! When I got home, I bought some tea from a nearby tea shop and enjoyed the Ajari mochi with my wife! Since it was my first time trying it, I thought it would be like dorayaki, but the part wrapping the sweet bean paste was really mochi! A Japanese sweet where the sweet bean paste is wrapped in mochi! So, the texture is chewy because it's mochi! The sweet bean paste has just the right amount of sweetness, and it goes really well with tea! I didn't know there was such a delicious Japanese sweet! Next time I come to Akuta River, I will buy it again!

Today, I passed by this shop so I bought some Adzuki bean jelly for home and souvenirs. I often buy Adzuki bean jelly, but this was my first visit to the main store. The Adzuki bean jelly I just bought, was it freshly made? It felt a little warm. It had been a while since I last had it, but I thought it was delicious once again. Thank you for the meal.

Top 100 on Tabelog! I visited during my trip to Kyoto. Normally, I buy at department stores, but this time I decided to make a sudden visit to Ajari Mochi Honpo's Full Moon Main Store. There were parking spaces for over 10 cars in front of the store and nearby. The store seems to double as a factory, with only a part of the building serving as the shop. The eat-in area that used to be available was suspended due to COVID-19. Unable to resist the desire to eat it fresh, I decided to eat in the parking lot. When I picked it up, it was still warm and tasted the best I've ever had. I have decided to always come to the main store from now on.

【Visit Date】April 15, 2023 evening【Order】2 Ajari mochi Stopped by on the way to Nyoinji Temple for evening practice. Visited around 5 p.m., so the weekend-only full moon mochi was already sold out. Opted for the Ajari mochi, as indicated in the restaurant's name. Ate it at home the next day! It had a chewy texture, somewhat familiar to something I've had before. Not too sweet, just delicious. Thank you for the meal.
