黄色のたぬき
It is a dumpling shop located in Sonezaki Shinchi. It is a popular shop known as the birthplace of "one-bite dumplings". You can enjoy "one-bite dumplings" and drinks in a casual atmosphere. It opened in 1955 (Showa 30) in a back alley in Kitashinchi. The main store operates at night (17:00-26:00, Saturdays 15:00-23:00), but the Temma store also operates during the day (11:00-22:00). It is about a 3-minute walk from Kitashinchi Station and about 10-12 minutes from Umeda Station. It is located along Eiraku Kitadori, one block to the right from the Umeda Shindo intersection (there is a sign at the corner), on the north side. I visited at night. At the entrance, it says "Stay up to 40 minutes" and it is a rule to "enjoy dumplings and drinks and then leave quickly". The interior is not spacious, with 11 counter seats and 2 tables for 4 people. I was guided to the counter seat after informing the number of people. The service was friendly and efficient. When I looked at the table, there was only a drink menu (without prices). There were signs on the wall for "dumplings", "pickles", and (beer, etc.) "drinks". I realized that it is a given to order "dumplings" here, so you only need to declare the amount of dumplings, whether you want pickles, and the drink. While considering the drink, the staff asked, "Can we cook 20 dumplings?" After confirming that 20 pieces is the standard amount (1 serving), I said, "Please." The atmosphere was normal, and even without the 40-minute limit, you probably wouldn't stay long. I ordered the following: ● Beer (small bottle) It was Super Dry. Pickles are a good snack while waiting for the dumplings, a good break between bites, and a good way to replenish vegetables, so order them together. ● Pickles Cucumber and daikon radish. (I saw the pickles at the next table were cucumber, daikon radish, and umeboshi. It was a shame that the umeboshi was forgotten.) It was served in about 5 minutes. ● One-bite dumplings (20 pieces) Five small thin dumplings in a row. The dumplings were made one-bite size because the previous generation who came up with them had "small hands". The thin skin with a crispy texture had a nice fragrance, and the filling (ground pork, cabbage, chives) was pre-seasoned and slightly spicy. It goes well with beer as a snack. It is delicious as it is, but let's also make a sauce by mixing vinegar 2: soy sauce 1 in a small dish. This also goes well. 20 pieces were easy to eat and just the right amount. Finally, water and toothpicks were brought out for payment. I stayed for about 25 minutes. The payment was 2,000 yen (*). As a payment at an izakaya, it was okay, but it felt a bit expensive for a dumpling shop. Nevertheless, I was satisfied because I could enjoy the famous "one-bite dumplings", which were to my liking. ************(*) The details are unclear as the prices are not displayed, but based on the price of take-out dumplings (30 pieces for 1,800 yen), it is estimated that 20 dumplings cost 1,200 yen (60 yen/piece), and beer (small bottle) + pickles cost 800 yen. The dumplings may seem expensive compared to regular dumplings because they are smaller, but considering the effort of wrapping and cooking them, as well as their uniqueness, the pricing may be reasonable. ~Why prices are not displayed~ According to the explanation on the website, in Kitashinchi, there was a custom of not displaying prices in order to prevent clients from knowing the prices when entertaining them. They are still following this tradition.
