It's been a while since I went out for drinks with a friend, and we enjoyed a bistro experience at "Nakameguro Grill." We indulged in red meat from aged short-horned beef from Iwate Prefecture. Nakameguro Grill is located about a 5-minute walk from Nakameguro Station. When I mentioned that I had a 2-year-old with me, they provided us with a private room. The atmosphere was quite stylish. We started with a sparkling wine, "Cremant de Loire Brut," for a toast. It was fruity and elegant. We were shown the meat selection first, which included various types such as gold pork, Agu pork, Uchimomo, rib roast, and bone-in veal from aged short-horned beef. Unlike aged meat fermented using mold, this meat is aged using its own enzymes for about a month and a half, resulting in concentrated umami and sweetness. It's said that this is the only place in Nakameguro where you can enjoy this. The appetizer came with a message card, and collecting them can lead to special benefits. Inside the package was a small jar of carrot mousse, which had a nice sweetness from the carrots. Even the child enjoyed eating it. We had Engawa and burdock, new onion ceviche for 500 yen each, which was a marinated dish where you could enjoy the texture of each ingredient. The grilled salad with various organic vegetables and truffle dressing for 1-2 people at 1,000 yen was a delight. The grilled vegetables had a great natural sweetness and umami. It was nice to enjoy them simply with salt and pepper, but the truffle dressing added a nice aroma. We had the craft gin "Tsukusu" from Kagoshima with soda, which had a refreshing and unique taste. The charcoal-grilled Hokkaido winter asparagus and beef tongue with herb salad for 1,200 yen was delicious. The herb used was fennel, and the egg sauce below added a coffee-like flavor to the moist and tasty beef tongue and asparagus. We also ordered the grilled shiitake mushrooms for 800 yen, which were surprisingly large and had a rich flavor. We then tried the main dish, the aged short-horned beef Uchimomo for 2,000 yen per 100g. It was tender and flavorful, a real delight. We paired it with red wine, '14 Madiran Vieille Vigne '17 Foie Cabernet Sauvignon R30. We also tried the "Adult Aged Beef Hamburger" with black truffle and foie gras for 2,500 yen. It was made with aged short-horned beef without much filler, and the flavors of black truffle and foie gras added a sophisticated touch to the juicy hamburger. We ended with the rich Carbonara with black truffle for 1,100 yen. The aroma of black truffle was prominent in this dish as well. I would love to try other cuts of the aged short-horned beef in the future. The grilled vegetables were also delicious. Despite my child causing a bit of a ruckus, the staff was friendly and attentive, leaving a positive impression.
