During telework at home, I felt like having lunch in a nice place. I rarely feel like eating traditional Japanese food for lunch, so I decided to go for it. When I arrived, the place had a very elegant atmosphere. I felt a bit out of place in my casual T-shirt, but surprisingly, the other customers were also dressed casually yet with a touch of sophistication. I opted for the "Tempura Set Meal" since the "Sashimi Set Meal" was not available that day. Priced at 3,000 yen, the set meal was quite fulfilling. The tempura included 2 prawns, smelt fish, eggplant, shiitake mushrooms, sweet potato, green chili pepper, and squid. It was served with a simple tempura dipping sauce, which complemented the crispy and well-fried tempura perfectly. The tempura was not extraordinary but it was well-executed and satisfying. The meal also came with simmered tuna, miso-grilled eggplant, pickles, and red miso soup. The simmered tuna was unexpectedly delicious and the meal left me wanting more rice. I hesitated to ask for a refill, but seeing another customer do the same, I followed suit. Although the price may be a bit high for everyday dining at 1,800 yen, the meal was fulfilling. The restaurant is located in a quiet alley with a nostalgic atmosphere in Ningyocho, showcasing the traditional charm of the area.

I had a slightly luxurious lunch with my company members at a restaurant with an old folk house atmosphere. We went at 12 o'clock on a weekday and it was empty. There didn't seem to be many customers for lunch, so we could eat quietly and leisurely. The tuna bowl was 2,000 yen and it came with chawanmushi and other side dishes. The ingredients were fresh and delicious. It would be nice if the menu had a few more options.

■Shop Information Located in Ningyocho, the shop "Yoshiume" was established in 1927, making it a place with a long history. The interior has a nostalgic atmosphere and can be used for various occasions. The specialty dish here is the negima hot pot. I visited for lunch today with the dream of trying it someday. I ordered the tuna marinated rice bowl set meal. ■Food Ordered ▶︎Tuna Marinated Rice Bowl Set Meal ¥2000 It arrived in about 10 minutes. The tuna marinated rice bowl was neatly arranged. The thinly sliced tuna was very easy to eat. The texture and umami of the salmon roe added to the deliciousness. I personally prefer the rice to have a bit more vinegar taste. The side dishes of simmered dish, chawanmushi, and red miso soup were also delicious. It may be a bit of a luxurious lunch, but I think it's a nice place to relax and enjoy. I visited a long-established Japanese restaurant founded in 1927 and had the marinated tuna rice bowl set meal. Although I intended to try a different menu for a change, I couldn't resist ordering my favorite marinated tuna bowl once seated. The side dishes that came with the set meal were also delicious. I love the atmosphere of the restaurant that exudes a sense of history. Thank you for the delicious Japanese cuisine.

At Ningyocho, at the "Yoshi Umehon-ten" restaurant, I had the seasonal dish of conger eel ochazuke for lunch. I made a reservation and went, but it wasn't very crowded that day, so it was very quiet. It might be just right for having a somber conversation. Eating each carefully prepared dish in this season when appetite tends to decline makes you feel like nourishment is spreading through your body.

Born and raised in Tokyo, indulging in food and drinks, thinking I know everything about this place as I reach a certain age, but still, whenever there's a gathering here, I feel a bit special in Ningyocho. There are many hidden gem restaurants in the alleys, but I think Yoshi Ume has a special charm. When you enter through the secluded entrance, you feel like you've become sophisticated. I often crave their negima hot pot and the finishing zosui. It's a great place for meeting friends, for business discussions, and even for secret rendezvous. I hope this great restaurant continues to shine for a long time.

Had dinner with a customer in Ningyocho. Responded to requests for Japanese cuisine and private rooms by going to Yoshiume. The course included the Edo specialty negima nabe. The basic course consisted of appetizers, sashimi, marinated horse mackerel, negima nabe, rice porridge, and pickles. We added recommended dishes of satsuma-age and eggplant dengaku before the negima nabe. The quality of the tuna in the negima nabe was surprising. It was a part of fatty tuna that looked delicious even as sashimi. The broth, which focused on the ingredients, bubbled gently, and the vegetables were cooked before adding the tuna slices one by one. The nabe, made by the young proprietress, was truly exquisite. Walking through the narrow alley from Ningyocho shopping street and passing through the entrance with continuing paving stones, one immediately immerses in the atmosphere of the downtown area. The white wooden counter that retains the image of the small restaurant's founding as a small restaurant. The tatami room created by connecting the neighboring geisha's teahouse in later years. We also tasted the Edo era with items such as the boards donated by the Edo town firefighters and the brazier.

I arrived at a restaurant that serves delicious Japanese cuisine around 11 am on a weekday and went straight in. I ordered the "Ara-Ni Gozen" set meal (1,800 yen), which includes a main dish, side dishes, chawanmushi, pickles, rice, and miso soup. This restaurant, called Yoshiume, has a nostalgic Edo atmosphere and was established in 1927. They offer lunch sets starting from 1,500 yen, and this time I tried the Ara-Ni Gozen that I was curious about after seeing it on Tabelog. The dish had plenty of simmered fish and large daikon radish, shishito peppers, and eggplant. Each ingredient was richly flavored and had a deep taste. I was really surprised by the volume of the simmered fish and the size of the daikon! The chawanmushi had a refreshing flavor that paired well with the rich simmered fish. I highly recommend enjoying this Edo-style Japanese cuisine. Thank you for the delicious meal! If you're interested, please check out my other posts! I also have an Instagram account (@ranko_foodie). Thank you!

Founded in 1927, this restaurant is located in an old house off the main street of Ningyocho shopping district, next to the Daikanon temple. I was able to make a last-minute reservation for a table seat. The hot pot course offers a choice of negima, duck, oyster, or mixed hot pot. I opted for the negima, which is a specialty here. The meal started with a spinach and shrimp salad, followed by a sashimi platter featuring tuna, striped jack, sea bream, and squid. The striped jack stood out for its texture and flavor. Next, we had pickled horse mackerel, which was a bit overcooked. The highlight of the meal was the negima hot pot, where the fatty tuna melted in the mouth, and the vegetables were cooked to perfection. The meal ended with a delicious egg rice soup. The traditional atmosphere of the restaurant in the changing Ningyocho area was a delightful experience.

- Summary - Name of restaurant: Oo-hako (located in Ningyocho) Wait time: 15 minutes (December/Thursday 10:55 am) Today's menu: - Kaki (oyster) tempura set: 2000 yen - Beer: 1000 yen Total: 3000 yen - Review - Hello and good evening! I visited this restaurant in Ningyocho for lunch. It's located next to Daikannonji Temple on Ningyocho Street. The atmosphere is very traditional and feels like an old established place. They offer dishes like onion and bonito hot pot, but it's a bit pricey. However, the set meals for lunch are relatively reasonable. - Visit - Arrived at 10:55 am, no other customers were there. The restaurant opened right at 11:00 am. The interior is old but clean, giving off a traditional vibe. I sat at a cold table near the entrance, which added to the old-fashioned charm. The menu had some items already sold out due to reservations. The staff were experienced and friendly, with a casual and efficient service style. - Food - The beer was cold and served with some small appetizers. The main dish I ordered was the kaki tempura set. It came with oysters, rice, simmered dish, steamed egg custard, soup, and pickles. The oyster tempura was crispy and delicious, but the portion was small. The steamed egg custard was well-made, and the simmered dish had a tasty miso flavor. The rice was fluffy and well-cooked. The soup had a few clams but lacked depth in flavor. - Overall - The price for dinner might be on the higher side, but for lunch, it's reasonable considering the quality and quantity of food. The restaurant has a traditional charm that is enjoyable. Even though it's not cheap, the set meal I had for 2000 yen was satisfying. It's a good place for a special lunch or a rich year-end party. The ambiance of an old-established restaurant in Ningyocho is worth experiencing. Thank you for the meal!

Yoshiume's Tekkadon in Ningyocho is a fantastic choice for lunch. I went there for a lunch meeting with my colleagues and the Tekkadon, priced at 2000 yen, was truly delicious. The texture was amazing and it was worth every penny. The tempura also looked delicious. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

◆Yoshi Ume Ningyocho Honten Located in Ningyocho, Tokyo, this long-established Edo-style restaurant was founded in 1927. I had been aware of its existence for some time and finally had the chance to visit on a weekday at 11:30 am. Upon entering, I was seated at a table on the first floor, as there were no other customers at the time. The main dish I ordered was the "ara-ni gozen" for 1,800 yen, which was a generous portion of simmered fish and vegetables. The daikon radish tower in the dish was particularly impressive in both size and taste, with thick slices of red fish adding to the flavorful experience. The visual presentation was striking, with vibrant colors of eggplant and green peppers complementing the dish. The simmering process had maintained the integrity of the ingredients, showcasing the skills of this long-standing establishment. The chawanmushi (steamed egg custard with chicken and ginkgo nuts) was mild and comforting, while the clam miso soup was rich and flavorful. The pickled cabbage and cucumber provided a refreshing contrast to the hearty simmered dish. Overall, the quality of the meal justified the 1,800 yen price tag, and I look forward to trying more dishes from their menu in the future.

This was my first visit to this restaurant. I felt that I could enjoy the traditional charm and elegance that has been passed down from the good old days. The food was also delicious, allowing me to experience the ultimate Japanese dining experience. From the appetizers to the seasoning, presentation, and tableware, I could sense the perfectionist approach of the restaurant's philosophy. It is not a cheap place to eat, but I felt that it is important to preserve the history of this good old Japanese restaurant. Every dish had a perfect taste without any off-flavors. It was so delicious that I cannot provide detailed comments. Thank you for the wonderful meal. It was very delicious.

I visited this restaurant for lunch, known for its delicious tuna. The atmosphere of the old Japanese house was charming, although the entrance was a bit hard to find. I was seated at the counter due to it being lunchtime, and the menu had a variety of options, albeit a bit pricey. I decided to try the tuna bowl, which came with side dishes like miso soup and steamed egg. It felt like a luxurious meal for lunch. The tuna was incredibly fresh and delicious, without any fishy taste. Even though I'm not a huge tuna fan, I found it to be really tasty. The portion was quite generous, and I left feeling satisfied. I recommend arriving early to ensure you get your desired dish. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would love to come back for dinner to try their other dishes like the green onion hot pot.

Founded in 1927, Yoshiume is a renowned restaurant known for its leek hot pot. Although I had considered using it for entertaining guests before, it seemed that many customers preferred meat, eel, or sushi dishes. However, during the recent self-PCR testing trend in Ningyocho, I happened to pass by Yoshiume and decided to give it a try. Upon further research, I discovered that they offer not only excellent dinner courses but also lunch options such as kaiseki, grilled fish, porridge, sashimi, tempura, tendon, and ara-ni. I am particularly interested in the tuna marinated rice bowl set, as Yoshiume is renowned for its tuna dishes. The dish includes marinated tuna, salmon roe, egg yolk, seaweed, pickled ginger, and wasabi, beautifully presented. The quality of the food is top-notch, with dishes like chawanmushi, clams, miso soup, and pickles complementing the meal. Overall, the tuna marinated rice bowl set and grilled fish set seem like excellent choices.

I visited Yoshiume's restaurant for lunch to try their oyster tempura. I was a bit hesitant because I didn't know the price, but it turned out to be 2000 yen. The dish arrived in less than 10 minutes and it had about 3 large oysters and 5 small oysters. The tempura was crispy and delicious. I first tried it with lemon and then with ponzu sauce. I personally wished there was salt available. The miso soup had a rich flavor with clams, but the temperature was not ideal. The chawanmushi was also not served piping hot.

This is a famous restaurant known for its negima hot pot, but I heard that their lunch is also delicious, so I finally made it there. I arrived a bit early for lunch, around 11 am, and sat at the counter. The daily grilled fish special was salmon with miso paste, which sounded tempting, but since I don't come here often, I decided to go for something unique to this place. I ordered the simmered fish head lunch set with light rice for 1800 yen. It arrived quickly. In the center was a simmered fish head, rice, red miso soup, boiled spinach and small fish, steamed egg custard, and pickles. The dish included pieces of daikon radish, eggplant, and shishito peppers. The simmered fish head had no bones, only edible parts, and was cooked in a slightly sweet broth, which made it very delicious. The portion was quite satisfying with just the simmered fish head. At first, I ate the rice normally, but once I tasted the simmered fish head, I stopped eating the rice and instead poured the broth over it to enjoy it at the end. It was also very delicious when the rice was mixed with the broth. I was completely satisfied with a 120% satisfaction level.

I had been curious about Yoshiume for a while, so I decided to have lunch there. The building, which has a history of nearly 100 years, has a dignified atmosphere, but the inside of the restaurant is surprisingly spacious and clean. I was torn between ordering grilled fish, but since it was in season, I went with the Fragrant Conger Eel Dashi Ice Tea Pickles for 2000 yen. It's tea pickles with dashi ice. There are two types of conger eel flavors. It was delicious. I had never tasted conger eel like this before! And on top of that, it was a luxury to have it as tea pickles. Thank you for the meal!

Tabelog ★3.67 [Yoshiume Ningyocho Main Store] I visited this restaurant. On this day, I had lunch in a private room. Located in the quaint backstreets of Ningyocho, this establishment is housed in a charming building that perfectly fits the atmosphere of the area. Established in 1927, this long-standing restaurant still retains the elegance of the old flower district of Ningyocho. They offer kaiseki cuisine, hot pot dishes, and delicious bento boxes. I had grilled fish on this day. The grilled fish set meal included salmon with Saikyo miso, nanban-zuke, simmered dish, rice, miso soup, and pickles. The lunch was beautifully presented and delicious. This restaurant is perfect for business lunches. Isn't it a great place to dine?

I only come here on weekdays because my body craves fish. I visited around 11 am on a weekday and was seated at the counter, where I could see the skilled chef at work. Despite the high-class atmosphere, the lunch menu starts from around 1,000 yen. I ordered the "araniru gozen" (1,800 yen including tax) because I wanted to eat some fish. Surprisingly, my food arrived just 3 minutes after ordering, impressively fast. The first thing that caught my eye was the huge portion of simmered daikon radish. It was so big that I was amazed. The simmered daikon and the fish were both flavorful and delicious. The amount of food was overwhelming, with side dishes like pickles and small appetizers to balance out the flavors. The chawanmushi (steamed egg custard) had scallops in it, giving it a unique twist. The rice was shiny and delicious, and the miso soup was made with clams. I left feeling satisfied and healthy. The restaurant has a traditional feel, and it started to fill up with customers around 11:30 am, but there was still plenty of space. It's a hidden gem in Ningyocho. Despite its historic charm, they accept payment via PayPay, making it convenient and approachable. I would love to try their specialty negima nabe next time.
