Finally... I visited the place I have been wanting to go for a long time. I tend to put off visiting good restaurants until later, thinking "I'll go when the time is right" or "I have to go at the perfect moment." You know those places that you just know you'll absolutely love from the look of them or the photos. Well, those places tend to get put on the back burner. And then people start asking me, "You still haven't been there!?" It's like how I still haven't played "Live A Live" or "Octopath Traveler" (talking about games). But enough is enough! So, I finally went to "Asterisk" which is one of the top pastry shops in my opinion. Have you ever seen cakes as beautiful as the ones they serve there? No, you haven't (sarcastic). It's one of the best places that serves incredibly delicious and stunning cakes. Of course, they have been consistently selected as one of the top 100 sweet shops. It's located in Yoyogi-Uehara. This area is filled with amazing sweet and bread shops. The exterior is a chic silver and dark gray. The storefront has the shop's name "Asterisk" displayed. The interior is very spacious. It's probably one of the largest pastry shops in Tokyo. Except for shops that have a cafe space, this shop is quite big. Oh, by the way, they no longer have the cafe space they used to have. It seems like they got rid of it, probably due to COVID, not just temporarily closed. The shop is filled with an overwhelming number of products. They have a wide variety of baked goods including cookies, rusks, baked donuts, guimauve, cakes, and more. They also have pudding, bonbons, chocolate tablets, jams, and macarons. The main cake display is also beautifully arranged. It's like a rainbow with vibrant colors. There are about 30 different types of cakes to choose from, making it hard to decide. So, after much contemplation, here's what I tried: Mont Blanc Charm - Made with chestnuts from Kumamoto and Ehime, with a creamy Mont Blanc cream and whipped cream in the center. The chestnut cream was rich and smooth. The contrast between the crispy meringue and the chestnut cream was amazing. Pussan Apricot and Praline Noisette Cake - A cake with intense hazelnut flavor and tropical sweetness from apricot. The combination was fantastic. Petit Gateau with Nanas Citrus Flavor - A cute cake with strawberry chocolate, berry compote, and cream. It condensed the charming sweet and sour taste of strawberries. Agapanthus - A white chocolate mousse with blueberries. The blueberry's acidity complements the rich white chocolate. The base was a crispy cookie crust. Aische - A rich German cheese pastry with cheese biscuit, cheese cream, and cheese crumble. It was very cheesy and decadent. Soleil - A lemon-flavored cake with orange and hazelnut. The refreshing lemon flavor and the rich hazelnut were a perfect match. Limone - A cake with lemon and praline hazelnut. The lemon was refreshing and the praline hazelnut was rich. Verde - A cake with green apple mousse and apple compote. It was light and refreshing. Crunch - A cake with dried fruits, praline almonds, and buttercream. It had a strong butter and almond flavor. Both the dried fruits and buttercream packed a punch but blended perfectly.

I moved and it's no longer within biking distance to Uehara, so I haven't been able to visit for a while, but I came back to this area after a long time and decided to stop by. To my surprise, they had both my favorite cakes, All and Mirage, which are ranked 1st and 2nd for me! Especially All, I haven't seen it in a long time. My life lacks any real luck, so it's rare for me to have the chance to get both. I was thrilled to purchase them. I'm so happy, I haven't had them in a long time. Oh, it's in a dome shape! Mirage is as usual, and from looking at the showcase, the other products didn't seem to have changed much, but All is definitely a bold change. Well, probably other cakes also undergo minor changes that I just haven't noticed. It's not about changing the classic flavors, but about improving while subtly changing things so that customers don't notice, which is the key to a long-lasting famous shop, as a certain famous saying goes. Many people have talked about the taste, so I have nothing to say, but for apricot lovers, I'm convinced that All is the best cake in Japan, no, in the world, haha. I see, if the apricot on top is gone, then having it in a dome shape does make it look sleek and cool. It feels a bit more substantial with the dome, which I like because my favorite is the apricot jelly and passion fruit cream. I wish there was more passion fruit cream than nut cream, but then the balance might be off with too much acidity. I think there's a slight cost reduction overall, given the current situation, but the renewal doesn't make you feel that way; in fact, it works in a positive way, this is what makes a famous shop a famous shop... it's a learning experience. I can't come often anymore, but I still want to visit regularly. Whenever I go, they always seem to be out of All, so I could easily stop by on my bike, but with the train... and then I realize after getting on the train, "Oh, I forgot to buy Rouge!" Not fun getting older, lol. Next time for sure.

(Weekday) 12:10 visit, 4 people in the store (7 people when leaving) ・ Mont Blanc Chantilly 769 yen ・ Pistachio 639 yen ・ Soleil 556 yen * All prices are excluding tax <Introduction> After having curry, I visited this shop 'Asterisk' to buy a birthday cake a little late. It's been a while since I bought a cake in Tokyo. It seems to be quite a famous shop, so my expectations are high. The shop is located a few minutes walk from the nearest station, Yoyogi-uehara. The exterior and interior are both based on white. There may be lines, but since it's lunchtime, there aren't many customers inside. When ordering, we lined up from the entrance and were guided in order. The popular Mont Blanc was the last one, so I ordered that, and then chose some other delicious ones and paid. There were a decent amount of cakes in stock. I'll be careful carrying them home. <Tasting> After dinner, it's finally time for the cake! I chose the Pistachio, which is generously used in the Pistachio cake. [Pistachio] The outside is coated with pistachio sauce, with a layer of raspberry sauce and nuts inside, making it a rich and tangy delicious cake. There was pistachio cream on the top of the cake, and the cream had a milkiness to it. The varying textures, between the crispy outer layer and the crunchy nuts, made it a very interesting cake to eat. Highly recommended! [Mont Blanc Chantilly] This is the popular Mont Blanc! The chestnut season is coming soon. It has a mild sweetness and a strong chestnut flavor, making it a classic and delicious Mont Blanc. The base is made of meringue. It's priced around 800 yen, but it's definitely worth eating. [Soleil] This is a refreshing cake mainly based on oranges. It's not overly citrusy, but has a fizzy melt-in-your-mouth texture, making it a perfect cake for summer. It was a mysterious cake that left a lasting impression. <Conclusion> Personally, I found the Pistachio cake to be quite delicious, one of the best cakes I've ever had. There were other delicious looking cakes displayed in the showcase, so I look forward to visiting again next time. It was quite a high-end cake, but it was a satisfying and delicious experience.

Visit date: September 9, 2023 (Saturday) lunch Instagram: @mash_foodstagram Official LINE: https://lin.ee/AQBeKIP Located in Yoyogi-Uehara, "Asterisk" is one of the popular patisseries in Tokyo. Among their delicious offerings, my personal favorite is the Mont Blanc. This dessert comes highly recommended by Mont Blanc enthusiasts and is considered one of Tokyo's best. To celebrate their 10th anniversary since opening last year, they revamped their traditional "Mont Blanc Creme" into the new "Mont Blanc Charm" with a different shape. The Mont Blanc consists of a base of meringue, topped with a mixture of Japanese chestnut paste coated with nuts, and filled with fresh cream. The chestnut paste is made from chestnuts from Ehime and Kumamoto, resulting in a rich and intense flavor. The dessert is not too moist, which suits my taste preferences perfectly. The subtle sweetness of the cream enhances the allure of the chestnut, creating a perfect balance. The crispy texture of the meringue and nuts adds a nice contrast, making it incredibly delicious. Asterisk truly lives up to its high reputation!

I wanted to try popular sweets, so I bought four different kinds for takeout and ate them over two days. The most popular was the Gâteau Frais (Strawberry Shortcake) and the second most popular was the Mont Blanc Uehara Roll Chou A La Maison (Cream Puff). They were all delicious, but the Mont Blanc was especially tasty. Next time, I will try their baked goods.

It's less than a 10-minute walk from Yoyogi-Uehara Station, up a steep hill, to the patisserie known as Sweets Hyakumeiten 2023. Recently, I passed by in a car and noticed that it's on a flat road, so I wondered if it would be easier to drive there. However, I'm not sure if there is parking available. The shop was closed for summer holidays, so I eagerly awaited its reopening. It's located along a major street in Yoyogi-Uehara, called Asterisque, which means "small star" in French. The patisserie, run by an award-winning chef, offers a sophisticated atmosphere. Their website showcases amazing candy art. Inside, there are counter seats by the window, but they are not currently offering dine-in options. I wanted to try their cakes, but settled for a Bordeaux-style canelé for ¥352. This summer, it was too hot to buy fresh pastries, so I bought several canelés from different shops. Each had a slightly different taste, but the shape was similar. The display case featured fresh pastries, while the canelés were on the counter. The staff were kind and provided warm service.

I visited Asterisk, a place I was curious about while exploring Yoyogi-Uehara. ◆Access◆ It takes about 7 minutes to walk from the station, as there is a slight uphill climb. ◆Operating hours and atmosphere◆ I visited around 4 pm on a Sunday. Although I passed by people carrying bags, the inside of the shop only had one other group besides us. By the time we left, there were about 4 groups in total. ◆Recommended occasions for visiting◆ For your own snack or as a gift. ◆Ordering◆ I tried the chef's whimsical cake, the tart of the day, some baked goods for summer gifts, and the Chocolat Orange. ◆Impressions◆ Both the whimsical cake and the tart were berry-flavored. The whimsical cake had a refreshing and tangy raspberry jam base with plenty of cream and custard. It was delicious (*´ч`*). The Chocolat Orange was incredibly tasty, and I want to go back for more! They also had macarons and baked goods, and it was hard to resist getting everything (*ˊ˘ˋ*). I plan to use this place for gifts and souvenirs from outside the city in the future. ♡

Visited around 5 pm on Sunday. The Mont Blanc had a delicious meringue coated with white chocolate. I heard there was a whole chestnut inside, but it was just a small piece, which was disappointing. The chestnut cream and the sponge cake were a bit dry.

This is amazing. Delicious. Pistachio cake! Unfairly delicious! I don't know the name, but the chocolate cake! This is irresistibly delicious. Even when eating other cakes, this trickster that asserts just the right amount of bitterness is a must-buy. The Gâteau Frais also has a refreshing yet rich cream with the acidity of strawberries and carefully made sponge cake. I went before 4:30 PM, and there were still plenty of cake options available. Some of the cakes I bought were no longer in the showcase, but I wonder if they will be replenished...

I've always been curious about Yoyue's patisserie. They have a variety of colorful cakes lined up, just looking at them makes me happy (˘͈ᵕ ˘͈♡) They have chocolates, macarons, baked goods, and the shop itself has a spacious seating area! ★Mont Blanc 830 yen The meringue at the bottom was coated with chocolate, which I personally loved. It was quite heavy, and it reminded me a bit of Angelina's Mont Blanc. The saltiness of the meringue and the sweetness of the paste were just right. It was very chestnut-y. I felt a bit heavy in the stomach towards the end. ★Mirage 650 yen A cake with milk chocolate, passion fruit, and orange. Chocolate and citrus go really well together. Just like the Mont Blanc, this cake had hidden flavors in it...!! It was delicious, but a bit pricey ♥️

On Wednesday just before noon, I saw only one group at this shop from the outside, so I decided to go in. The cakes displayed in the showcase were all incredibly beautiful. I had some dumplings and a donut, so I decided to just get one more thing. I chose the Choux a la Creme for 460 yen. I ate it at a nearby park, and the amount of cream was unbelievably generous and delicious! I was extremely satisfied! I definitely want to try the other items, so I will definitely go back again. Thank you for the meal!

I received a gift from a friend and was unable to visit this shop on the day, but my friend bought it for me and it was perfect timing. I tried various cakes, and they were all delicious. The peach tart in the photo had a generous amount of peaches and was a satisfying dish.

A friend brought me the asterisk cake that I had been curious about for a long time. I also got to try the pistachio cake that I wanted to eat the most. In addition, there were a peach tart, a strawberry shortcake, a mango cake, and more, all of which were delicate and delicious in both appearance and taste.

On the same day, around noon, I made a reservation by phone for 2 cakes. Mont Blanc Chantilly ¥769: The Mont Blanc cream had a subtle sweetness and a chestnut flavor. The crispy meringue at the bottom melted in my mouth in no time, surprising me with its deliciousness. Mirage ¥602: The chocolate mousse layered with fruits was a great combination and very delicious. Truly a cake worthy of an award. I also purchased the Uehara Baum ¥325 on site: I was drawn to the boxed set and bought it separately. It has a good shelf life and the packaging is lovely. The marzipan in the Baum was moist. Bag ¥4: A bag made of paper-like material, showing consideration for the environment. Stylish design. The staff was efficient and the service was smooth.

I arrived at Asterisk after a 5-minute walk up the hill from Yoyogi-Uehara Station. I have visited this shop several times before, and they offer a wide variety of cakes and Western-style sweets. The shop is spacious, but there may be entry restrictions during busy times. Today, I purchased something called "Uehara Roll." It is a Japanese-style roll cake with red beans and chestnuts. The cream was not overly sweet, and the sponge was fine-textured, making it a delicious roll cake. At 350 yen, it was very reasonably priced. Thank you for the meal!

I purchased a Gâteau Frais and a cake wrapped in biscuit dough with tropical fruit mousse (I forgot the name). The size and price of both were great! However, the taste was not quite to my liking as both had a firm texture with a lot of cream, which seemed heavy on fats. Those who enjoy heavier and sweeter desserts may like it though. The Gâteau Frais had a slightly dry dough, but it may have been due to deterioration from being transported in the hot weather. Therefore, I will not give a rating this time!

Visit on Saturday at 2:40 PM. It had been 2 years since my last visit. I come here regularly because there are many shops in this area. It is close to the station, but it takes longer than expected due to the hilly road or detour. Last time, there were no other customers, but this time there were a few. The first thing I noticed was that the prices were surprisingly low for this location. Lately, it's not uncommon for places to cost close to 1,000 yen, so this was a great deal. Bergamot tea for 680 yen. I was worried that the chocolate would overpower the tea, but they actually complemented each other quite well. It had a slightly smoky flavor. The mousse was light and delicious. Casanova for 600 yen. It melted a bit as I carried it home in the heat. The top had a chiffon cake with passion fruit inside. It was very fluffy with a nice balance of acidity and sweetness. The bottom was lined with bananas and pineapples. There were more fruits than I had imagined. In conclusion, it was truly delicious.

I went to buy a cake around 5 pm, and it seems like the eat-in option that used to be available is now gone. As I approached the shop, a very sweet smell filled the air, making me think that my neighbors will never be able to diet in such a happy environment. Since it was already evening, I thought there wouldn't be many options left, but to my surprise, there were still various cakes available. I ended up buying a Gâteau Frais for ¥463 and a seasonal verrine for ¥445. The takeout bag cost 19 yen, so the total came to exactly 1,000 yen! What a coincidence! I had my heart set on the Gâteau Frais, and I was actually eyeing the pistachio cake, but the last one was chosen by the previous customer! In a rush, I chose the seasonal verrine, which was mango and passion fruit mousse. How delicious! Walking back home with the cakes made me feel so happy. There was a family picking up a birthday cake in the store, and the whole place was filled with a happy aura. Both cakes I got were incredibly delicious. The whipped cream was sweet and rich, but not too heavy. I would love to try the popular Mont Blanc, the classic pudding, and all the glamorous and beautiful cakes they offer.

Visited a shop that caught my attention in Hyakumeiten 2022 for the second time. This time, I savored the cakes without drinking (;^ω^) I tried Soleil, which uses three types of oranges (from three countries?). The outer orange color looks like chocolate. The appearance may not be the best, but the cross-section is as shown in the photo. It has a refreshing orange flavor and tastes delicious. Another one I tried was Fruits de Asterisk, a mango tart. Both are delicious, but am I the only one who thinks it's better to enjoy them separately rather than together? (laughs) I found many articles praising Mont Blanc, so it must be delicious after all. I passed on it this time, but I might buy it again next time. Soleil 600 yen, Fruits de Asterisk 780 yen.
