I finally got to visit the main event of the day, Corisu-san! I had been wanting to go for a long time. You can make a reservation for the month after next by phone on the last business day of the month. It was hard to find the right timing to call and make a reservation, but I persevered and managed to secure a reservation! I invited my son in a white shirt and we went. I was very hungry as I had only eaten a fu-manju earlier. As soon as we sat down, we looked at the blackboard menu and the regular menu. Just like at Youshoku Ogata-san, it was so difficult to decide. I ended up choosing... I shared a Heartland beer with my son. We had baguette with rouge and noir something. The red one had tomato paste, and the black one had olive paste. When spread on the baguette, it was delicious! I found out that the baguette was from DONQ and it was crispy and tasty. I later realized that I shouldn't have eaten too much bread. As an appetizer, we got a plate of pinchos-like dishes. It had shirasu, mashed potatoes on baguette, dried tomatoes, and dried figs. I left the selection of dishes to my son and me and we ordered the following: - Hotate sashimi with spicy sansho sauce It seemed like a Western dish, but it was delicious. The spicy sansho sauce enhanced the sweetness of the scallops, and with myoga, cilantro, and tomatoes, it was refreshing. It looked like a salad. - Tripe salad I ordered the tripe salad because it seemed unusual. The tripe was coated in acidity and olive oil, served with vegetables. It had a strong acidic taste and was refreshing. Be careful, as each dish other than the salad comes with a salad! At this point, I felt like I had eaten a lot of salad. - Seafood macaroni gratin It was a seafood macaroni gratin. It was hot and creamy, and so delicious! - Hamburger steak and hamo fry The hamo fry was served with honey mustard sauce. It was crispy and the meat was juicy. The hamburger steak was meaty. The demiglace sauce had a strong bitter taste. It felt like an adult hamburger steak. It goes well with red wine. - Beef cutlet sandwich It was listed as three pieces on the menu, but they made it four pieces so we could share it. It was a very thoughtful gesture. The bread was crispy, the beef cutlet was flavorful! It was a sure bet. Putting a little mustard on it was the best! - Pork blue cheese cutlet It was a famous dish at Corisu-san, according to my son. It was added as an extra dish. I had an extra serving of bread and ate it with the sauce, and by then I was quite full... When I cut into it, the crispy breaded chicken breast was filled with melted blue cheese. The combination of the bitter demiglace sauce, blue cheese, and wine was excellent. It was very delicious! - Tiramisu For dessert, I had tiramisu. It was an authentic tiramisu and very tasty! My son had chocolate. He was surprised when it arrived, asking, "What is chocolate? A chocolate bar?" But it was more like a chocolate terrine (no photo)! Oh, I was so full, my stomach felt like bursting with laughter. The service was very pleasant, starting from the phone reservation, and the actual service was comfortable and it was a wonderful Western restaurant experience. Thank you for the meal! I will try to find the opportunity to make a phone reservation and visit again. Like Youshoku Ogata-san, it would be great to go with about four people rather than just two...

I looked forward to visiting this restaurant based on the reviews on Tabelog, but it was disappointing. I was able to walk in without waiting around 2 pm on a weekday. The bread and salad were decent, but the main dish, pork with sweet and sour sauce, was too strong in flavor and made it difficult to eat. It may have been a poor choice on my part, but I think it would be better with some additional vegetables on the side. The service was good, but the taste was disappointing.

I finally got to try the Western-style restaurant I had been wanting to visit. I was happy to be invited because I had been unable to make a reservation no matter how many times I tried. The food was delicious and the prices were very reasonable, so I was surprised by the bill even though I ate a lot. I was amazed at myself for eating three pieces of bread even though I don't like bread.

For dinner, my wife and I visited the famous Kyoto Western-style restaurant, Coris. It is known for being extremely difficult to make a reservation, and after over 700 phone calls, I finally succeeded in booking a table. I discovered Coris through the Michelin Guide and relied on reviews from users on Tabelog for information about the restaurant. As we walked down Matsubara Street with high expectations, the excitement of seeing its retro exterior in person was indescribable. It felt like encountering a beloved celebrity. Upon entering, we were captivated by the chalkboard filled with the day's recommended dishes. Despite having some dishes in mind to order with my wife, the extensive menu made us hesitate, and we ended up ordering a Mexican salad, meat sauce with scrambled eggs, hamburger steak with ham fry, beef tenderloin steak, and a drink for our first round. For our second round, we added macaroni gratin and beef cutlet sandwich. Each dish brought out the quality of the ingredients, highlighting the homemade warmth and deliciousness. The attentive service from the staff and the homely atmosphere made the dining experience at Coris even more special. I could now understand why it's so difficult to get a reservation at this restaurant. Delicious food, warm hospitality, and a unique dining space - the combination of these elements truly represents the essence of dining out. I sincerely hope that this renowned restaurant will continue to shine in Kyoto in the future.

A difficult-to-book restaurant. Adult Western and French cuisine. The demi-glace sauce had a taste I've never experienced before ⭐️ It has a slight bitterness (maybe there's chocolate in it?). A sophisticated taste that goes really well with alcohol. I wish there was a restaurant like this in Osaka.

It's impossible to make a reservation at this highly sought-after Western-style restaurant in Kyoto. The phone line is always busy! The menu is extensive and the portions are generous, making it perfect for a group of four. The complimentary "canapés" that come out when you order bread and alcohol are amazing. Here are the dishes we tried: - Octopus and Celery Salad ¥1950 - Endive Salad ¥1500 - Beef Stew ¥4900 - Hamburger Steak and Scallop Fry ¥2500 - Beef Cutlet and Shrimp Fry ¥3500 - Beef Cutlet Sandwich ¥2500 - Corn Rice ¥2900 - Macaroni Gratin ¥2200 - Pork Steak ¥1950 - Pork Blue Cheese Cutlet ¥2400 - Salad, Lamb Raisin Ice Cream, Pudding each ¥600 (complimentary) - Bread - Sweet Potato Paste Canapé, Dried Tomato with Black Olive Anchovy Paste

Pork blue cheese cutlet - We shared it among 4 people but I wish I could have had it all to myself. Macaroni gratin - The sweet sauce is incredibly delicious, I would go just for this dish. Spicy scallop sashimi with Sichuan pepper sauce - The spiciness goes well with sake. Shiga Prefecture Kinoshita Ranch beef brisket - A generous portion that beef lovers will adore. Corn rice - The rice is firm with a slight crunch left in the center. This restaurant is hard to make a reservation at, but sometimes you can walk in.

This is a restaurant that is difficult to make reservations for. Reservations can be made from 8:00 AM two months in advance, but it's hard to get through on the phone. They do not respond to any media and are known only to a select few. This long-standing Western-style restaurant offers both French and Italian cuisine. The à la carte menu is extensive and the dishes are exquisite. I enjoyed the hamburger and conger eel fry, as well as the beef tongue and blue cheese salad. The shrimp macaroni gratin and the generous basket of bread were also delicious. There are only 12 seats in the restaurant. I am grateful to the mother chef and her daughter.

Is this the third time? As always, the menu is filled with enticing options, and the yellow screams are flying. I'm starting to understand that it's best to go for the must-have menu items and add something seasonal. Representing the former are the blue cheese cutlet and burrata. If you leave the wine pairing to the beautiful waitress, you can't go wrong.

I was taken to this restaurant in Kyoto for the first time. From the appetizer to the salad, pate, gratin, cutlet, bread, and cutlet sandwich, everything was delicious. The staff also chose a delicious wine for us to enjoy. I would like to bring my family here next time.

One of the most difficult-to-reserve Western-style restaurants in Japan, Coris. Fortunately, I have had the opportunity to visit and enjoy their menu, which is extensive and allows for ordering a la carte, so you never get bored. This time, I visited with three people, so we were able to enjoy more dishes than last time. The MVP was the beef cutlet sandwich, followed closely by the macaroni gratin. With a budget of 5000-10000 yen, the cost performance is excellent, making it one of my recommended Western-style restaurants.

I had always wanted to visit Coriss-san, and finally managed to make a reservation for lunch. The day I visited, only set menus were available, so I ordered the hamburger and conger eel fry, as well as the pork cutlet with blue cheese. I also added a cutlet sandwich and desserts - pudding and tiramisu. To start, a huge loaf of bread arrived with black olive and tomato sauces instead of butter. The bread and sauces paired well and were very delicious. Next was a rich and sweet fava bean potage soup. The appetizers were also tasty with plenty of vegetables. For the main course, the pork cutlet and hamburger were both delicious. The blue cheese in the cutlet was rich, but the batter was light, so it was easy to eat without feeling too heavy. The conger eel fry was crispy and the sauce was very tasty. However, the standout dish was the cutlet sandwich - I would definitely like to eat it again. The tiramisu was delicious, but the portion was quite large. It would be appreciated if it could be served in a smaller size. Overall, I was very satisfied and would like to visit again for dinner next time.

At the renowned Kyoto Western cuisine restaurant "Coris," enjoying the blissful moments with familiar faces while savoring the unwavering excellence of this established gem. With a plethora of enticing menu options, it's hard to decide, so I leave it to the regulars like Mr. Miki. "Potion Mama Blanc 2020/Complemen'Terre" - a delicate sparkling wine that elegantly spreads on the palate. Paired with a beer chaser, the appetizer platter arrives. The "Shirasu Bruschetta" is crispy and sweet, with a hint of garlic in the mashed potato bruschetta that highlights the sesame flavor. Accompanied by semi-dried tomatoes and raisins, the pace of the meal matches the speed of the wine. The steaming baguette keeps coming endlessly, thanks to the generous butter, tapenade, and tomato puree. The "Mexican Salad" features salmon, roast beef, pate de campagne, scallops, boiled eggs, vinaigrette, fruit tomatoes, and endives, with rich cheese as an accent. "Traminer Ouillé 2020" offers a rich acidity and depth of flavor. Next comes the bubbling sensation of the "Macaroni Gratin" - the gentle bechamel sauce, perfectly cooked macaroni, succulent shrimp, and ham's savory taste create a harmonious blend that elicits sighs of delight. The "Shrimp Fry" surprises with the presence of vegetables that rival the shrimp itself. Paired with an orange wine, each component, from the purple potatoes to the tomatoes, is delicious, especially when dipped in a honey mustard sauce that enhances the flavors. The "Vincent Stoeffler Le Beurot 2021" pairs well with the "Lamb Mince Cutlet," which is flavorful and tender, seasoned with cumin and seaweed salt. The "Fried Pork with Sweet Vinegar Sauce" boasts a crunchy coat and tender pork fillet, complemented by a black vinegar sauce with pink pepper accents. The "Firefly Squid Risotto" captivates with the squid's umami and miso sweetness permeating each grain of rice, creating a satisfying texture. The meal concludes with a refreshing "Kiwi and Vermouth" cocktail, a decadent "Tiramisu," a light "Banana and Walnut Butter Cake," a rich "Matcha Sorbet," and a delightful "Rosemary and Tarragon Ice Cream." Each dish at Coris is unwavering, honest, powerful, and full of love, making it impossible not to fall in love with the restaurant.

- Bistro menu at the long-established Western cuisine restaurant Coris in Kiyomizu Gojo, Kyoto ✨ - It's a reservation-difficult restaurant where it's hard to get through on the phone on the reservation start date at the end of the month. - This time, I was invited by a gourmet friend and was able to visit for the first time ✨ - Each dish was so delicious that I had a hard time deciding which one to choose for the first photo 😄 - The round "hamburger steak" in the top picture looks 100 points, but the taste is 120 points ❤️❤️ - The juicy hamburger with a slightly bitter adult demi-glace sauce is excellent ❤️ - The second photo shows a beautiful appetizer assortment with dried tomatoes and sardine bruschetta. - This one plate can easily go through a bottle of champagne. - The fifth photo is the "macaroni gratin" that I absolutely wanted to eat at Coris. - The hot and creamy béchamel sauce was so rich and delicious that my cheeks fell ❤️ - The thick "beef cutlet sandwich" in the sixth photo had tender rosé-colored lean meat that paired perfectly with the crispy bread. - Photos three and four show the seared carpaccio and stir-fried firefly squid and myoga, respectively. - The seventh photo is simmered rice, the eighth is pork blue cheese cutlet, and the ninth is pear and persimmon clafoutis. - I can't write about each dish individually, but every dish was undeniably delicious ✨ - Coris is a long-established Western cuisine restaurant frequented by true foodies. - The food, atmosphere, and service at this restaurant were all excellent ☺️✨

I came here because I wanted to eat the delicious beef cutlet sandwich. It's usually difficult to get a reservation, but if you go around the end of lunchtime, you might be able to get in. Give it a try! The steamed chicken with peanut sauce was also delicious. I always end up eating the classic shrimp fry and hamburger. The beautiful sisters and their mother provide excellent service.

At the end of each month, reservations for the month after next are opened up. It's really hard to get through on the phone for reservations. The menu includes dishes like octopus and celery salad for 1950 yen, assorted salads as a side dish, macaroni gratin for 2200 yen, hamburger and ham fry for 2500 yen, pork blue cheese cutlet for 2400 yen, and a steak sandwich with 3 slices for 2500 yen. All the dishes are delicious, especially the gratin sauce which is creamy and tasty. The prices are a bit high but the portion sizes are large enough to share among 3-4 people. It's not impossible to get a reservation, but it can be a challenge.

Coris, a long-established Western-style restaurant located about 500 meters from Shimizu Gojo Station, was revisited after a year. It is a delicious and very charming restaurant, but reservations are very difficult to come by and one must work hard to make a monthly phone reservation. It is located on Matsubara Street, west of Higashioji Street, near Kennin-ji Temple and Rokudochinno-ji Temple. The old brick-style exterior exudes a sense of tradition. Inside, it is a bit narrow. Currently, both the chef and the staff are all women. All the customers today, except for me, were also women. Today, I had the delicious Jindogawa mushroom and Pecorino cheese, gratin, and beef cutlet that I enjoyed last time. I paired it with Riesling wine. The appetizer with wine was already quite substantial. The Jindogawa mushrooms, which are made up of over 90% water, are sliced and eaten raw. Grown in the crystal-clear waters of the Jindogawa River, the mushrooms have a clean aroma and umami flavor. They go really well with Pecorino cheese. The gratin came with a side salad... it was quite filling. The gratin had shrimp and scallops, a classic flavor. I had the beef cutlet at the hotel later that night. #Coris #KyotoGourmet #KyotoWesternFood #HardToReserveRestaurant

I was finally able to visit a restaurant that is difficult to make a reservation at. I was so focused on eating that I forgot to take many photos, so I only have two. A kind female waitress brought the menu and recommended dishes while taking our order. The corn rice, which is only available this season, had a generous amount of corn and was incredibly delicious! We ordered a variety of dishes to share, including the classic gratin, hamburger, and beef cutlet sandwich. We shared the dishes among four people. This is definitely a restaurant that I would love to visit again.

I was invited by a friend to a popular Western-style restaurant in Kyoto, where reservations are only accepted once a month, making it quite difficult to secure a seat. The restaurant is now run by the wife and daughter of the late master chef, and their dedication to their craft is evident in the delicious dishes they serve. Each bite is a testament to their meticulous work, with a perfect balance of flavors and depth. This restaurant is truly a gem in Kyoto, where traditional Japanese cuisine often takes the spotlight.

At the end of the month, I called to make a reservation for the month after next. I was lucky to get through right away at 8:00 AM. The pork cutlet sandwich was surprisingly light and easy to eat despite being thick. The gratin, hamburger, and shrimp fry with tartar sauce were delicious, especially the juicy hamburger. The salad came with the gratin and hamburger. They also offer individual dishes without the set. Since there were two of us, we ordered three dishes and it was more than enough to fill us up. The food was so good that I want to try other dishes next time! I will do my best to make a reservation.
