タケマシュラン
A sushi restaurant located on the 2nd floor of a building in front of JR Meguro Station, which opened in the fall of 2019. The restaurant has more than 20 seats, making it quite spacious for a sushi restaurant. The interior is brightly lit and has a casual atmosphere. Infants and toddlers are allowed, but during my visit, a child was crying loudly at a table, which made the atmosphere a bit sad. The interior is somewhat messy and lacks cleanliness. The sushi rice was stored in plastic bags, which took away from the traditional charm. The head chef is handsome and has a charismatic presence. He speaks in a casual tone, which was noticeable, but it seemed to be his style with all customers. In European restaurants, chefs and servers rarely use casual language with customers, unlike sushi restaurants where it is more common. The meal started with left side soba shop style egg and right side sushi shop style egg, which was average in taste. The sushi rice, made with red and white vinegar, lacked punch in flavor. The appetizer assortment was decent, with a good amount of sea urchin but the quality was average. The grilled spring vegetable dish had a nice bitter taste. The nigiri sushi was ordinary, with the bonito being just average. The salad was like an extra salad from a lunch set, and the dressing, although cement-colored, was surprisingly good. The nodoguro fish was served with a lot of salt crystals, which was overwhelming. The shrimp soup was decent but lacked depth in flavor. The red snapper was tasty, but the excessive salt crystals were off-putting. The eel rice bowl had a small amount of eel. The golden eye snapper was delicious, but not significantly different from a nearby sushi restaurant. The snow crab was served in a cumbersome way, requiring diners to shell it themselves. The mackerel was served in a way that dripped sauce onto the counter. The horse mackerel and saury were both tasty but not exceptional. The boiled fish head had a strong presence but was cumbersome to eat. The broad beans were like the complimentary dish at "O-nimaru". The scallop was large and satisfying. The squid had a unique flavor with squid ink salt, but the overall taste was average. The angel prawn with cod roe had a strong fishy smell. The fatty tuna was good but not top quality. The gizzard shad was watery and unappetizing. The meal ended with hand rolls, which were creative but lacked flavor. The red miso soup was standard. Dessert was a warabi mochi. Overall, the meal consisted of small dishes with varying quality, and while it wasn't bad, it also wasn't exceptional.
