On the second day of my trip to Fukuoka in December 2022, I checked out of the hotel early and headed to "Za Le" located about 2km from Takamiya Station. (It is a bakery with its main store in Austria.) I only remember eating Sachertorte when I visited Austria (only in Vienna though). But looking back, I recall being most impressed by the various types of bread that appeared at the restaurant "Steirereck" in Stadtpark, Vienna. Copenhagen also had high-quality bread. In other words, European bread is delicious everywhere. Back to the story, I arrived at the shop around 8:30 am. Inside, there were various delicious-looking breads lined up. I was quite indecisive, but this time I purchased three types. [Hazelnut Roll] 250 yen - It contains a fragrant hazelnut filling. [Laugenbutterkipferl] 240 yen - A croissant-based bread incorporating the pretzel method. [Smoked Cheese] 220 yen - Bread with a deep flavor of smoked cheese. I brought them home and ate them right away. The ones I bought this time are all delicious! The dough is definitely top-notch. The smoked cheese seems easy to pair with alcohol, and I really liked the Danish with a strong hazelnut flavor (Hazelnut Roll). There were also many types of rye bread available (some with caraway seeds or oatmeal), so I should have bought some more. Thank you for the meal!

I ordered the cheese cake cookies to take out. They are cookies with a strong cheese flavor, perfect for snacking with alcohol. Once you start eating them, you can't stop! So delicious! "Sai-ra" is the best!

Since it opens early in the morning, you can enjoy breakfast as soon as you think of it. Our family's favorites are the cooked sandwich, tuna mayo Danish, and potato salad Danish. The croissant with Vienna sausage inside is also good. It's a famous bakery for Austrian bread.

I don't have the opportunity to go there often because it's far away, but I visited after a long time. There are several parking lots not only in front of the store, which is convenient. There are plenty of bread and cakes for takeout, and the eat-in menu offers a variety of light meals and sweets to choose from, making it enjoyable. The store is cute and sometimes hosts piano concerts. The prices are reasonable for Fukuoka, and the taste is delicious enough to be selected as one of the top 100 stores nationwide. If you happen to be nearby, I recommend going a little out of your way to visit.

The atmosphere of the shop is cute and uplifting! I thought it was a bakery, but they also have a variety of gelato and cakes, and the lunch menu with soup in the eat-in area was also substantial! They also have baked goods, so it would be appreciated as a souvenir. It's convenient and appreciated that they have multiple parking spaces available.

In the morning, around 8:30 a.m. on a Sunday, I visited this place for breakfast. There were many families dining together. I had to wait about 5 minutes to be seated, but it wasn't a big deal. They had a wide variety of coffee options and 100% juice on the drink menu, which was great. Since it's a bakery, the menu consisted mostly of sandwiches and burgers. They also offered drink sets. The soup set and sausage set came with a piece of bread each. It took about 10 minutes from ordering to receiving the food. The portions were surprisingly big and a bit difficult to eat, but the taste was delicious and seemed healthy compared to other chain burger places. In terms of size, quality, and the relaxed dining experience, it was good value for money. Instead of eating cheap burgers frequently, I think it's better to treat yourself to something really delicious occasionally for a higher level of happiness. I had a wonderful morning enjoying a lovely breakfast time.

Located near Noma Oike Park in Fukuoka Prefecture, "Sailer" is a prestigious cafe & bakery known for its top-notch bread, being a five-time consecutive winner of the Pan 100 Best Stores award. Despite its slightly challenging location in terms of transportation access, the cafe blends in seamlessly with the surroundings and welcomes visitors with a great atmosphere.
In terms of transportation access, the cafe is located near the Terazuka intersection in Nagao 2-chome, which may be difficult to reach for those unfamiliar with the area. However, there are bus options available from Hakata Station, with bus routes 50, 64, or 67 taking you to the Noma Oike bus stop where you can get off (one-way fare is 330 yen).
During a visit on a Saturday afternoon around 1:00 PM, it was evident that most visitors arrived by car. Many customers not only bought bread to take home but also enjoyed their purchases at the cafe seating area. At this time, the selection of bread was still plentiful, allowing for a thorough examination of the options.
On this particular day, I purchased the "Kaiser Semmel," a traditional bread from Austria that is also known as an excellent choice for a meal. Priced at 120 yen, the bread had a firm texture with a slight dryness, but the sweetness of the ingredients and the rich umami flavor that emerged upon the first bite made it a delightful treat. The bread had a subtle salty taste and a good bounce when pressed, showcasing its quality.
Overall, "Sailer" offers a calm cafe atmosphere with a touch of greenery in the city surroundings. While the transportation access may pose a challenge, the environment and ambiance are pleasant. The taste, pricing, and customer service at the bakery are commendable, making it a truly exceptional bakery deserving of its reputation as one of the top 100 bread stores. I highly recommend visiting this bakery in Fukuoka's Minami Ward for a delightful experience. (Visit rating on Tabelog: 3.67)

I went to buy bread, but the cake looked so delicious that I ended up at a cafe. The Nutstorte with chocolate on top caught my eye as soon as I saw it in the display case, and I knew I had to try it. It paired perfectly with the iced Darjeeling tea. The hazelnut cream and chocolate cream combination was perfect with its bitterness, nuttiness, and sweetness. The Darjeeling tea refreshed my palate. The Shine Muscat tart was fresh and I thought it was the most delicious. On my way back, I bought a loaf of bread!

Sandwich for 420 yen, Nutella roll for 250 yen. The sandwich is consistently delicious and the interestingly named bread is a sweet Danish with poppy seeds. It's a delicious treat to enjoy slowly with a good coffee. I visited after the weekday peak hours, but there was still a line outside.

The abundant selection of bread that is constantly being baked is dazzling. From curry donuts, zigzag melon bread, zigzag walnut bread, spinach pie, to bacon epi, each one has a rich buttery flavor that is not too overwhelming, making it easy to enjoy them frequently without getting tired of them. If this bakery was nearby, I would definitely become a regular customer. Among the ones I tried this time, the zigzag walnut bread was particularly delicious.

Arrived around 10 o'clock. Although the restaurant was full, there were only about 2 groups waiting in line, so we were seated quickly. The food looked different from the menu photos, which was surprising! The herb-flavored frankfurter was delicious, paired with crispy bread. The restaurant had plenty of seating, a nice atmosphere, and reasonable prices. It's highly recommended if you can overcome the difficulty of getting there. I wanted to check out the bread section after eating, but it was too crowded. The restaurant is located after navigating through hilly roads, about a 45-minute walk from the nearest station. I rented a bicycle to get there, but it was too steep to ride, so I ended up mostly pushing it. Since the bus was not coming, it would have been better to take bus 52-1 (runs every 30-60 minutes) or a taxi.

The Morning Eat-in Space on Sundays is spacious with a bakery where you can write your name to wait for your order. You can also eat cakes and gelato there. Today's soup was sold out, but the soup and bread set is available. Burgers take a while to be served after ordering. The restroom has a European style. The food is cheap, delicious, and filling. It's the best.

Austria Pan, a popular bakery in Minamiku Nagao. I love their bread and always stop by when I'm in the area. Luckily, there was no line this time so I could go in right away, but it seems like it was just by chance as a line formed shortly after. The bakery not only offers delicious bread but also a wide variety of cakes at very reasonable prices. This time, I bought a total of 1,830 yen (tax included), which is quite affordable. They put the items in a bag for you and even provide a free plastic bag. The prices are inclusive of tax.
I purchased:
- Butter Pretzel (280 yen x2): I usually get the plain one, but this time I tried the butter-filled version. The texture of the dough is great and it's delicious.
- Laugen (220 yen x2): Made with the same dough as the pretzel, and I really like it.
- Knob Brown Stanger (290 yen): A garlic-filled bread made with pretzel dough. It's packed with chopped garlic and tastes amazing.
- Curry Stanger (300 yen): Filled with sausage and has a curry flavor, the sauce is delicious.
- Cornschbitz (240 yen): A combination of rye, oatmeal, barley, and wheat whole grain flour with flax seeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and sesame seeds on top. This one is also delicious.
The prices of the bread are very reasonable, and I enjoyed all the items I bought this time. I will definitely stop by again when I'm in the area.

I transferred here by bus from Hakata Station! [Shop Memo] ◆ Bread Top 100 West 2018 ~ Consistently selected ❣️ ◆ The main store is a long-established store that has been operating for over 100 years in Austria. It seems they have the same lineup. [What we received] ◆ Pretzel 250 yen ⭐︎3.5 The scent of lye is wonderful! It is saltier and crispier than my favorite German pretzel. The crust is crispy with a nice chewiness. The crumb has a strong resilience when chewed. The thin parts are crunchy while the thick parts are chewy and crispy, which is charming. Less sweet and simple taste compared to German pretzels. ◆ Walnut Anko Cheese 230 yen ⭐︎3.5 It has a resilient texture. The salty cheese and sweet walnut anko complement each other well. ◆ Libezel 380 yen ⭐︎3.3 A combination of pudding and chiffon cake-like dough with cherries. Gentle sweetness. ◆ Butter Bread Half 205 yen ⭐︎3.5 It is a moist bread with a strong butter aroma. ◆ Lye Butter 240 yen ⭐︎3.5 Strong scent of lye. The surface is crispy and delicious, but personally, the sesame scent may be unnecessary. ◆ Lemon Stick 230 yen ⭐︎3.2 The cream has a slightly lacking acidity, which wasn't quite to my liking. ◆ Coffee in the cafe 490 yen ◆ Grape juice in the cafe 450 yen The atmosphere was great and the outside temperature was terrible, so I ordered more drinks. The space is like an Austrian salon, very cozy and I was healed by the lovely atmosphere. [Other] ◆ Bread review 179th store ◆ Prices are including tax.

It was tough! (I was impressed by the old man who was doing security for the construction work halfway through) ... I had a rough idea from the map, but it's right in the middle of a residential area on a hill ... I'm glad I used the electric share cycle today instead of yesterday. The place had about 10% of customers around 9:20 ... I chose the recommended T Prebutter bread and paid 280 yen in cash ... I sat at a table at the back (I thought about getting something cold because I was tired, but I gave up because it seemed like a lot). They heated it up in about 2 minutes and served it ... It had a strong buttery taste and ... it was salty! I've been thinking since yesterday, but Fukuoka's food seems to have a strong flavor, doesn't it? Not really my thing. I'll pedal hard despite the distance and head north to explore Fukuoka Castle. With this, I have visited the 96th store on the PanWEST Top 100 Bakeries 2022 list ... and achieved 10 reviews for Fukuoka Prefecture area medals!

I was so surprised to find an elegant McDonald's with a Ruben sandwich on the menu! The sandwich was more like a hamburger with Austrian bread that I had never seen before. The atmosphere of the restaurant was cute and it was definitely worth the effort to go there. The food was incredibly delicious, and I definitely want to go back again. Somehow, even though I thought I was getting on the bus at the planned time to the same destination, I ended up going in a completely different direction?! I ended up jumping off the bus and walking for 45 minutes. The place was called Tomooka, and true to its name, it was like climbing a mountain. But when I finally arrived at Sailer, it felt like heaven. (By the way, on the way back, I missed my bus stop because the transfer app was unreliable, and I had to wait for 30 minutes. Not my lucky day!) #Fukuoka

Salami and prosciutto sandwich for 400 yen. The bread sprinkled with rock salt had plenty of lettuce, making it very satisfying to eat. I thought I would get fat if I ate it all at once (since I had just eaten lunch), so I cut it into smaller pieces. But before I knew it, I had finished the whole thing (lol). The croissant was surprisingly large and delicious with its crispy and fluffy texture. The bread with bacon on top had pineapple inside, which paired well with the sauce and tasted great. They also offer cakes and baked goods. I saw a cake in the shape of a grand piano, and thought it would be perfect for someone's birthday celebration. I will definitely visit again.

I ordered the American cherry parfait. It was full of whipped cream and made me happy. The texture of the cherries was good, and the gelato was delicious. I finished it all in no time. They also have a good selection of savory dishes, so I want to come back again!

It was a very popular bakery and pancake shop! It was near my in-laws' place, and I had been wanting to visit this shop for a while. The parking lot was full of cars, and there were cars parked in front of the shop as well. This clearly shows how popular the shop is. The seating area in front of the shop was also full. Although the variety of cakes and bread was not extensive, they all looked delicious. They were beautifully and carefully made. I had the caramel flavored cake, which had a subtle caramel taste and a sophisticated flavor. The bread was also delicious, so I would like to go back again. Thank you for the meal.

I am looking for a delicious sandwich and came across a bakery cafe called "Sailer" near Terazuka intersection in Minami Ward. Despite being on the first floor of an apartment building, the exterior exudes a sense of quality and deliciousness. With its origin in Austria, I was curious as to why this bakery chose Fukuoka, specifically Chokuei, a lesser-known area. As I entered, I was greeted by a stylish and high-quality space. Although the tables were full, I was guided to a counter seat where I could relax on a stool or a sofa for two. I decided to try the "Reuben Sandwich," a hot sandwich made with toasted tin bread, pastrami, cheese, sauerkraut, and a dressing with a hint of celery fragrance. The moist texture of pastrami and the crispy bread, along with the saltiness and aroma of black pepper, captivated my taste buds. The wonderful ambiance, delicious food, and friendly staff made it clear why this popular restaurant has been thriving for 30 years.
