I was taken there, and the food was really delicious. After the refreshing appetizer, you can choose your favorite ingredients and cooking method from a selection of wonderful ingredients, and I couldn't help but try various things. I had a selection of seafood such as grunt, turban shell, and conger eel, as well as beef steak and beef cutlet from the meat section, and other various dishes like grilled shiitake mushrooms were also delicious. The grilled rice balls (sea urchin, foie gras) were crispy and delicious. For dessert, I chose 100% bracken rice cakes. It was truly the best.

There are plenty of rare cuts of beef, whale, fresh seasonal vegetables, and more. There are so many types that it's hard to remember them all! You can choose your favorite ingredients and even specify how you want the dish prepared. It's a very luxurious dining experience. I would love to go back and try other ingredients as well.

Introduction of a must-visit restaurant For the first time in my life, I experienced an a la carte Japanese cuisine that allows you to choose your favorite ingredients and cooking methods. Reservations are available in two time slots, and the later reservation at 8:30 PM is recommended. I have already decided that I will definitely visit this restaurant again! This restaurant in Nagoya offers a unique a la carte Japanese cuisine experience where you can select your own ingredients instead of following a set course. They present a wooden box containing various types of fish at the counter, allowing you to choose your favorite fish and the amount you desire after hearing a detailed explanation about each fish. I selected Uni, Mackerel Sushi, and Horse Mackerel. Although the standard recommendation was Uni and Squid combination, I requested only Uni, and they happily accommodated my request. Next, the main dish and vegetables were presented in wooden boxes. I wanted to compare fried and grilled asparagus, so I received both. One of the highlights of this restaurant is that you can choose the cooking method for your dishes. The fried rice with plenty of Karasumi was surprisingly delicious. In traditional Japanese restaurants like Kaiseki or Sushi, courses are served with dishes that you may not necessarily like. This restaurant, however, allows you to choose the dishes you want to eat, which is a delightful experience. You can adjust the portion size according to your preference, and the dishes are not served one after another like in a course meal, so you can enjoy your meal at your own pace. I still have more dishes I want to try, so I will definitely be returning to this restaurant! Restaurant Information: Name: Gion Rakumi Location: 570-206 Gion Minamigawa, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto, Kyoto Prefecture Business Hours: 5:30 PM - 11:00 PM Closed on Sundays, and the second and fourth Mondays of the month *Due to the impact of COVID-19, operating hours may vary, so it is recommended to contact the restaurant for the latest information. Items Ordered: Appetizer, Steamed Abalone, Sashimi (Mackerel Sushi, Awaji Island Red Sea Bream, Hokkaido Murasaki Uni), Main Dish (Grilled Beef, Grilled Sweetfish, Grilled Thornhead, Fukuoka Prefecture Softshell Turtle Karaage), Vegetables (Fried & Grilled Asparagus, Avocado Namero), Rice Dish (Karasumi Fried Rice, Beef Curry, Fatty Tuna Rolled Sushi), Dessert (Hojicha Warabi Mochi) Price Range: ¥20,000 and above

Located about a 5-minute walk from Gion-Shijo Station, this shop was recommended by a friend and I finally had the chance to visit. I arrived shortly after they opened and it was almost fully booked with reservations. The atmosphere quickly filled up as well. I was too excited and forgot to take photos. Enjoying the flavors was truly the highlight, everything was delicious and my companion was satisfied as well. If given the opportunity, I would definitely visit again.

A Japanese restaurant located on the south side of Gion. The interior has a luxurious atmosphere that values Japanese traditions, appealing to a sophisticated clientele. As part of the Gion Sasaki group, the chefs are skilled entertainers. They are great at conversation. Every dish is delicious. I was surprised when I only had to pay ten thousand yen for drinks and got change back. It's a great place for lunch with mom friends. Good value for money and great taste! I definitely want to visit for dinner too.

This is a restaurant in Gion, Kyoto, owned by the famous chef Sasaki. Their lunch menu offers authentic Japanese cuisine at a reasonable price. While the ingredients may not be top-notch, it's important to appreciate the chef's skills. This is a place to savor the work of a talented chef.

This style of restaurant is rare in Tokyo, and I was very satisfied with being able to enjoy my favorite dishes as much as I wanted. The chef was very attentive to details like portion sizes. The fried chestnut skins dish left a strong impression on me. The fried rice and marinated crab dishes, which were not traditional Japanese cuisine, were also delicious and unique. I am grateful to the person who invited me.

Each time I revisit, my satisfaction level keeps increasing! The prices are high, but the taste is unbeatable. This time, I planned not to eat too much but ended up eating until my stomach felt like it was going to burst. The warabi mochi is truly delicious. And this time, I left some steak meat and mixed it into the curry, a bold move that turned out to be amazing. Best experience.

Gion Sasaki, a Michelin three-star restaurant, has a second shop where you can enjoy a variety of seasonal ingredients prepared in your favorite cooking style. It's like an upscale izakaya for adults. Seeing the ingredients upfront gets you excited, and Chef Mizuno's superb skills make the dishes incredibly delicious. I want to go there right now.

Reservations at popular restaurants can be difficult every 2-3 months, but at this place, you can enjoy your favorite dishes whenever you want. They adjust the cooking to suit your taste and offer a great variety of dishes without breaking the bank. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is cozy from the first visit. I recommend trying the warabi mochi! Just be careful not to over-order, as the portions are generous, especially for women!

This is a restaurant called "Gion Sasuki" that is produced by Mr. Sasuki from Gion. They offer a la carte dishes, which is perfect for us, an elderly couple. We took a taxi to get here, and it's located right in front of "Gion Sanboa," a place we've visited a few times before. The exterior of the restaurant is lovely, and the high ceilings inside make for a comfortable dining experience. We started with a toast with a glass of draft beer. The dishes we enjoyed today included: first course of simmered octopus, broad beans, and fuki; sweet shrimp and sea urchin marinated in Shaoxing wine; sashimi platter with fatty tuna, ark shell, sea bream, and swordtip squid topped with caviar; grated radish with whitebait; crispy abalone tempura with liver butter sauté; tempura of spring vegetables like taro sprouts, rapeseed greens, butterbur sprouts, and onions; grilled bamboo shoots; grilled fugu milt with salt; lotus root tempura; double highball with Glenmorangie; steak of fish maw; and sautéed abalone liver butter. We had a great experience with the a la carte menu, ordering a few dishes at a time and then deciding on more based on our appetite. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal, and both my wife and I, being older, appreciate these types of small traditional Japanese restaurants. My wife especially enjoyed the experience and we will definitely be returning. Thank you very much for the wonderful meal.

Located in Gion, Kyoto, Gion Rakumi is a small counter-style restaurant that serves delicious small dishes. The atmosphere is great and you can also use the bar area for your second round. There are many tempting menu options, but lately I've been switching to drinks. They offer authentic cocktails, so I decided to try the kumquat cocktail. It has a refreshing taste with fresh fruit juice, making it easy to drink. For my second drink, I had a cold, stirred martini. Delicious!! This is how the nights in Kyoto unfold... Stylish restaurants can be found in Gion ♡

It was a feast for the eyes and the taste buds. The drinks were great too. The finale and dessert were also delicious, and I left feeling extremely satisfied!!!

I visited "Gion Rakumi," a restaurant affiliated with the famous and fully booked "Gion Sasuki" in Kyoto☆ Starting from 5:30 PM, there is no fixed menu, and you can choose the recommended ingredients of the day from the fish box and have them cooked to your liking. I wanted to try everything, but had to consider my stomach haha. From sashimi of squid and fatty tuna, to salt-grilled nodoguro, matsutake mushroom and wagyu sukiyaki, grilled eel, simmered sea cucumber, deep-fried softshell turtle, and fatty tuna hand-rolled sushi, everything was delicious♡ The portions are perfect for one person, so you can enjoy a variety of ingredients. The counter was soon filled with customers, and you could hear the friendly staff engaging in lively conversations. It seemed like there were many regular customers too. Head chef Takahiro Mizuno was kind, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was warm and cheerful♡

I visited after a long time and was surprised to see that the entrance had changed. Even though I arrived a little earlier than my reservation time, they offered to make a drink for me at the bar next door, so I had a drink and then moved when it was time. It was very delicious, but it didn't have the same impact as last time, so I will visit again if I have the chance.

Introduced by a friend who is a chef, I visited this restaurant for the first time and it was fantastic! It was a traditional Japanese cuisine style where I got to choose the ingredients and watch them being cooked while enjoying some drinks. The seasoning matched perfectly with the alcohol... I will definitely visit again!

In Kyoto, there is a famous kaiseki restaurant called Sasagi in Gion that everyone knows. I visited one of its affiliated restaurants, Gion Rakumi, for the first time. The modern and open restaurant has a high ceiling and a long, impressive counter. I had a reservation for 20:30, and the counter was packed with people. It seems that there are many beautiful people from Gion among the regular customers. There were about 5-6 staff members inside the counter, preparing various dishes and chatting with customers. The atmosphere was lively and fun. When you sit at the counter, they first show you various ingredients and explain them to you. You can choose what you like and eat it the way you want, but the fun part is that you can try a variety of dishes in small portions with the chef's selection. The friendly staff engage in conversation and provide excellent service. It's no wonder it's a super popular kaiseki restaurant in the prime location of Gion. After the amuse-bouche, we had uni and beef tataki with plenty of wasabi. It may be the best way to enjoy high-quality beef. This was followed by bonito tataki, cured mackerel, quail shabu-shabu, and cold dishes. The warm main dishes included sakura shrimp tempura, asparagus sautéed in butter, sweet potato tempura, sukiyaki with matsutake mushrooms, pork and porcini herb grill, grilled gudgeon, beef steak, and potato salad. Even though we chose them ourselves, the amount for three people was incredible. We managed to finish it all because it was served in small portions. For dessert, we couldn't resist the cutlet sandwich, but after eating the grilled cod roe onigiri and beef curry, our stomachs were full, leaving something to look forward to next time. Imagine the satisfaction we felt with the highest quality ingredients and cooking methods. As we were leaving, a sommelier gave us his business card. It was written as Kyosuke Sasaki. He was the son of the owner who started Kappo Sasagi. He studied at a university in Tokyo and is dedicated to refining his skills through food exploration. His gentle demeanor made us fans once again. Needless to say, this restaurant has become one of our favorite places in Kyoto. They are exploring delicious restaurants all over Japan.
