When visiting on a business trip, I went to this restaurant before it changed its name (when it was called Otaru Fish Isshin). I ordered sea urchin without really understanding, and it was listed as market price. I was a bit nervous when I ordered, but a whole sea urchin was served. I thought it might be a rip-off restaurant, but it turned out to be a very honest place. There were four men drinking and ordering a lot of food, and it came out to about 4,000 yen per person. I wanted to go back again, but then I found out that the restaurant had changed its name.

We ordered a luxurious course for two people from Hot Pepper in Otaru, and it was truly extravagant with sashimi, crab, hokke, and more. The crab included in the course was a great deal for the price. The portion of hokke was amazing (so delicious) and we were quite full by then, so it was good. The menu mentioned that the next course would be either shrimp or sea urchin dish, so we were looking forward to it, but it turned out to be smoked saury which was a bit disappointing. However, the salmon and ikura bowl that followed was incredibly delicious, and overall we were very satisfied. The young staff members were friendly and nice. We would love to visit again.

This dish with all-you-can-drink for 5000 yen is amazing! The freshly caught shrimp from Otaru is fantastic! The thick and voluminous shima hokke is delicious, and the sashimi is ordinary but the shishamo comes with both male and female. You can't choose the sake, but it's good enough to come back again.

Thick sashimi and grilled fish are the best! I am very satisfied with the fresh and thick sashimi. The scallop fry and smelt were delicious. It's a shame that the surf clam fry was sold out and I couldn't try it, but I would like to visit this restaurant again when I come to Hokkaido next time.

When it comes to Hokkaido, seafood is a must-try. I visited this restaurant during my trip and unfortunately, they were sold out of hairy crab so I ordered snow crab instead. I also enjoyed sashimi and cod, among other seafood dishes. Overall, the food was delicious, but unfortunately, the restaurant did not have a non-smoking section, which was a bit disappointing for me as a non-smoker. I will make sure to be more careful when visiting restaurants in Hokkaido in the future.

Business trip to Sapporo and Bibai in late November! First time in Hokkaido in a while - a little cold! Colleagues made a reservation at "Otaru Shun Gyo Shibata" in Susukino. Ordered casually while looking at the menu (lol). The sashimi was really fresh and delicious. The flavor of the hokke was strong! The scallop fry was also delicious. - Assorted sashimi (tuna, yellowtail, flounder, scallop, shrimp) - Whole shishamo - Scallop fry - Grilled hokke - Pickled mackerel - Grilled squid - Shrimp The bill came out to 20,800 yen for three people, with quite a bit of drinking. Around 7,000 yen per person, so reasonable!

Recently, I've been really liking this building. I've been exploring various places here. Today, I visited Shibata-san. It seems that there aren't many open shops early in the day... When I entered, they asked if I had a reservation. No, I didn't... Reservations are apparently necessary. Somehow, I managed to get a table, but then customers kept coming in one after another. It seems like there are quite a few people from mainland Japan as well. The main seating in the restaurant is sunken kotatsu style, with only one private room available. There is also a counter, so it's fine to come alone. Today, I ordered tuna sashimi, surf clam sashimi, and young yellowtail. The appetizer was boiled shrimp. Well, I guess I have to drink some sake. I ended up drinking about 10 cups or so, got quite drunk. Since fish is the main focus here, there aren't many options other than sashimi and grilled fish. However, the fish is incredibly delicious. After thoroughly enjoying the sake and fish, I decided to move on to the next place. The bill came out to just under 7000 yen. In terms of cost-performance, I was satisfied with this restaurant. I will definitely come back here for the sashimi!

I visited the restaurant on a regular night. I made a reservation for 6:00 pm and entered. There are no menus on the table, only ones posted on the wall, with sashimi on the top row and grilled dishes on the bottom row. The basic menu consists of just that. There are hardly any appetizers like vegetables or meat dishes. They focus solely on fish. The female staff member in charge of the hall has excellent hospitality, and her smile, even through a mask, is a great customer service. She recommended "hair crab" and "uni" today, but if I were to order those, I would definitely exceed my budget. So, I ordered a sashimi platter, "shima hokke" from the grilled dishes, and "grilled squid." The owner is alone in the kitchen, with two women in the hall, which is a small setup. The dishes arrived after about 10 minutes of waiting. Let's eat. The platter includes large button shrimp and yellowtail, among others. I can feel the taste of Hokkaido. Next is the hokke, a must-have item for izakayas in Hokkaido. It is large, plump, and juicy. It's really delicious. Lastly, the squid has a rich taste of its liver. It seems to go really well with Japanese sake. However, there is hardly any food other than fish. It's really hard to use. It's a good place to enjoy a drink at the counter. The drink selection is somewhat similar to a major izakaya chain. I wish they had a better selection of Japanese sake and shochu. Thank you for the meal.

On Saturday evening, four of us made a reservation in advance to use a kotatsu table. We were served shrimp as a starter, which was delicious but a bit of a hassle to peel (lol). The highlight of this restaurant is definitely the sashimi! It's absolutely delicious. They serve things like button shrimp that you don't normally see on the mainland, and it's really tasty. The winner of the day was the Saikyo-style grilled cod. It may not look the best in photos, but it was amazing. If I had to be picky, I would say it would be even better if they had more meat dishes.

I wanted to eat delicious seafood in Susukino, so I decided to visit this restaurant. Upon entering, I was seated at table 47. At the time of my visit, smoking was allowed in the restaurant, which is quite rare. I ordered "uni," "chef's sashimi platter," "shimahokke," and "grilled squid." The menu seemed to have a limited variety and some items were already sold out. The sashimi arrived quickly, and each piece was thick and large. The shrimp was particularly impressive, big, juicy, and sweet. Every piece of sashimi was delicious. Then came the uni. It was amazing! I have never tasted uni this good before. It was creamy, without any fishy taste, almost like a dairy product. Even people who don't like uni might enjoy this. Highly recommended! Next was the hokke, which was incredibly thick and flavorful. It was so good that I didn't even need to add soy sauce. I realized that you shouldn't put soy sauce on good hokke. Overall, the seafood was of high quality and the restaurant offered great value for money. Especially the uni was outstanding. Highly recommend it! Thank you for the wonderful meal!

Omicron cases are increasing, so even Hokkaido will soon head towards a cautious approach. I went to "Shibata" for dinner, known for its fresh sashimi. Unfortunately, many items were sold out, perhaps due to no direct delivery from Otaru. I ordered a sashimi platter, scallop fry, and salted fish roe. The yellowtail was delicious, and the texture of the fin was fresh and crisp. I would like to come back next time when they have a full menu.

Lively Otaru Market directly delivers fresh seafood to 5-chome Tanuki Street in November 2021! The taste and cost performance that even Hokkaido locals can agree on at this seafood izakaya with a simple interior that I like this kind of atmosphere (๑´∀`). A strong alcoholic beverage with a high alcohol content for bar hopping... Sweet potato ( ゚Д゚)ノ. The bottle of "Yoidenshin no Kokoro" with an original label from Kagoshima Jizake Brewery costs 3000 yen, and the appetizer is 440 yen. The homemade potato salad with a lingering sweet potato flavor. The menu may or may not have prices listed depending on availability, but the bill is very cheap! The chef's choice sashimi platter with two types of tuna, red meat and fatty Engawa tuna, is delicious (゚Д゚)!! Highly recommended Hakkaku rockfish, which is exquisite! It is thick and extra-large, with just the right amount of salt and a plump cooking. The dried shishamo from Mukawa? This year, they are small due to poor fishing. I always sit at the end of the counter. I order a draft beer from the friendly beautiful waitress, greet the owner across the counter, and start with "botan shrimp sashimi" and "grilled scallops" for the day. The beer goes down quickly just to quench my thirst. I quickly switch to sake. The owner recommends snow crab at a special price, and I enjoy conversation with him while sipping on sake. When I feel like something a little greasy, I recommend "fried squid legs!" They are freshly fried with a flavorful soy sauce seasoning. I suddenly feel like having another beer. For the finale, you must try the "silver cod," but look at the size!! You can see how huge it is compared to the shrimp in the back, right? Honestly, it's quite tough to eat all of this alone. I could only finish half of the crab (cries). You need to come with 3-4 adults and share what you want to eat, otherwise you won't be able to try a variety of dishes (laughs). I really want to come back soon with everyone and enjoy a lively meal together.

Since the days of the old store name, this has been my hidden gem. Ever since discovering this place, I haven't gone to any other seafood izakaya in almost 10 years. I had a business trip to Sapporo and visited this place again after a long time. The master and the lady warmly welcomed me. I sat at the counter, ordered a beer, and was served striped shrimp as a complimentary appetizer. Beer and shrimp might seem like a strange combination to some, but it's just right to start with. I ordered scallop sashimi and grilled squid, and they also offered saltwater sea urchin at a bargain price, so I switched to sake to pair with it... mmm, it was amazing. I decided to call it a night after this. Eventually, I ended up visiting again after a few days. Today, there was something I absolutely wanted to eat! "Grilled silver cod." If you order the grilled shishamo from Mukawa while waiting for the cod to be cooked, they might even give you corn as a service. The familiar homely atmosphere remained unchanged. Before I knew it, I was on my second 1.8L bottle of sake (laughs). Unfortunately, I got so caught up in the huge size of the silver cod that I ended up taking a video and forgot to take a photo, so I apologize for that. The portions at this place are truly impressive! Be aware that you'll need at least 3-4 adults to fully enjoy the variety of dishes they offer.

Located in Tanukikoji Shopping Street, this shop seems to attract a lot of locals. We visited as guests from Tokyo. We started with a toast of classic draft beer, ordered the recommended sashimi platter for two, and grilled silver cod with salt. The appetizer was yellowtail and daikon radish, I think (laughs), and it was very delicious. The sashimi platter included four types: tuna, flounder fin, yellowtail, and sweet shrimp. The sweet shrimp was generously topped with eggs, and there was a lot of flounder fin (laughs). The bill came to around 3000 yen. The sashimi was truly delicious, especially the sweet shrimp. The grilled silver cod had a unique texture, chewy and very tasty. It was different from the miso-marinated grilled fish, lighter and refreshing. And it was huge! We initially planned to order two dishes, but with two of us, this was our limit (laughs). We each had two glasses of classic draft beer and two bottles of sake, and we were stuffed. Since the portions are generous here, it might be more enjoyable to come with about four people and try a variety of dishes.

Sashimi was delicious as always, it was a long time since my last visit. I had squid and yellowtail sashimi. The appetizer was boiled shrimp. I started with a beer. The boiled shrimp was delicious, I enjoyed it with the beer. The sashimi was accompanied by sake, specifically Chitose Tsuru from a brewery near Susukino in Sapporo. It was a dry sake and paired well with the sashimi. Overall, the food was delicious as always.

I arrived earlier than my reservation time, but I was smoothly greeted by the staff. I was recommended the sashimi assortment, but I stuck with my usual favorites - botanebi and grilled hokke, which were delicious as always. The quality has not changed since the Fish Isshin days. Thank you again for a great meal.

The izakaya in a building on Tanuki Koji street. Be careful not to miss it as there is no big sign at the entrance of the building. I called ahead and the phone service was polite, and the staff at the counter was also friendly and efficient. I sat at the counter with a friend and ordered a sashimi assortment for two, fried surf clam, and grilled hokke. When the dishes were served, I was surprised by the portion size. Thick slices of sashimi from five different types of fish were served on small plates, which would typically be enough for five people in Tokyo. The surf clam and grilled hokke were also served in large portions, more than enough for two people. Everything was delicious and I was impressed. I would love to visit this restaurant again when I want to enjoy delicious Hokkaido seafood!
