The combination of ingredients was interesting. This time, there were plenty of seasonal vegetables such as eggplant, cucumber, pumpkin, and zucchini. The cucumber and slightly sweet sauce with salt, along with the conger eel, had a taste that I wasn't used to, but the scent of the gourd family was very summery. The main dish of pork was the most delicious, with the paprika sauce complementing the tender and juicy meat. It was great to be able to eat dishes that I could never make myself!!

During my trip to Kyoto, I made a reservation at a popular restaurant near Kiyomizu Temple. I was drawn to the concept of enjoying Italian cuisine in a traditional Japanese atmosphere, which seemed very Kyoto-like. The creative Italian course made with local ingredients such as Kyoto vegetables and Kyoto pork was a luxurious treat. The Tokishirazu (salmon) was particularly delicious, with a perfect balance between sashimi and seared textures, allowing the fatty salmon to melt in your mouth. The Kyoto San no Mochibuta (Kyoto pork) as the main dish was also outstanding, with a firm yet tender texture reminiscent of mochi, and a rich flavor. The new sensation pork steak was also exquisite. The concept and atmosphere were perfect, so I highly recommend visiting when you have the time.

A nice exterior under the Yasaka Tower. The shop had a lovely interior. The taste was generally okay, but there wasn't any dish that stood out. Despite the bustling streets with many foreigners in Kyoto, the restaurant was quiet with few customers, giving off a lonely vibe.

This is my favorite Italian restaurant in Kyoto. The dishes are not only delicious but also full of surprises, making me cheer with each dish brought to the table. The concept is as if there were a Kyoto in Italy, and the Italian cuisine harmonizes beautifully with Japanese ingredients and flavors, leaving me impressed every time. While it's not a place for casual dining due to the prices, it's a restaurant that I would want to visit on a special night during a trip to Kyoto. Thank you for another wonderful dinner!

I visited at night and chose the Cena B course. It was more of a fusion of Japanese and Italian flavors rather than a heavy Italian dish. The pasta was delicious. Overall, it felt a bit salty, and I couldn't finish all the meat at the end.

We went to Il Ghiottone Kyoto Honten for lunch with three people since we were in Kyoto. We had the Unazuki course. As always, we got so caught up in our conversation that before we knew it, it was time for our next important appointment. We were planning to take photos but ended up rushing out of the restaurant and taking a taxi in a hurry. We all reflected on the fact that we need to be more organized with our time. Despite this, we joked that no matter how old we get, we'll probably still end up saying things like that. The fish and pasta were delicious.

In the month of March, at IL GHIOTTONE Kyoto Main Store, I had a delicious meal. The peaceful atmosphere inside the restaurant was a welcome change after the impact of the pandemic. The dishes, such as the grilled pork from Kyoto and the spaghetti with Japanese flying squid, were all beautifully presented and tasted amazing. The dessert, with a hint of Japanese flavors, was a perfect way to end the meal. Overall, it was a delightful dining experience, and I look forward to visiting again in the future.

I made a reservation online in advance and visited the restaurant at 6:00 pm on Christmas Eve. I chose the Christmas course for 16,000 yen, so I opted for the wine set with 5 glasses at the restaurant. Every dish was carefully prepared and delicious. The amberjack was cooked at a low temperature and very tender. I was able to request the desired amount of lasagna. Both the portion size of the dishes and the wine were generous, so I left feeling full.

Il Ghiottone in Kyoto. An Italian restaurant with a view of Yasaka Pagoda, serving exquisite Italian cuisine with a touch of Japanese influence. It had been about 15 years since I last visited the original store in Kyoto... or maybe even longer. Nonetheless, I felt that it was still a wonderful restaurant. The meal started with fried shiitake mushrooms, using charcoal powder for a striking black visual. It was served with a puree of saury, a bold dish from the start. The bread was presented in a small box with a warm stone inside for insulation. The second appetizer was chawanmushi, with the bitterness of chrysanthemum greens complementing the sweetness of the egg. The scallop paste shaped like a quenelle was an interesting touch. The third dish was salmon mi-cuit, my personal favorite. The cooking was precise, with the salmon just barely cooked. The pasta featured benizuwai crab, showcasing the meticulous preparation. The meat was also cooked to perfection. For dessert, a deconstructed and reconstructed tiramisu with coffee elements in the form of warabi mochi, showcasing a Japanese twist. Overall, the food was as wonderful as ever, and I was impressed by how it had evolved since my last visit. As we left, the staff and chef saw us off at the entrance until we were out of sight. While it wasn't Chef Sasajima this time, I was reminded of over 15 years ago when he did the same. It made me very happy to see that this level of hospitality and care has been passed down. I visited Il Giotto Kyoto Honten, a renowned Italian restaurant in Kyoto, with high expectations. However, I was quite disappointed with the experience. Shortly after arriving, we ordered a bottle of wine, but the staff dropped the wine opener on the floor and continued to use it without replacing it. This lack of attention to detail made the dining experience less enjoyable for me and my companion. The first dish, grilled mushrooms, lacked any saltiness, and the sauce on the saury was flavorless. Overall, the dishes were unbalanced and lacked flavor, leaving me wondering if the recipes were incorrect. It was a disappointing experience, as I had high hopes for Kyoto's Italian cuisine. The only highlight was the water, which was surprisingly good and reasonably priced. Thank you for the meal.

During my visit to Kyoto for sightseeing, I had lunch on a weekday at this restaurant. I had made a reservation in advance. Since I was not familiar with the area, it was a bit difficult to find the restaurant, but I managed to arrive without getting lost thanks to the guidance of a map app on my smartphone. This time, I chose the "Prazo A course" priced at 6,930 yen. The course included: - Grilled shiitake mushrooms - Steamed egg custard with angel prawns, chrysanthemum greens, and scallops - Salmon with salmon roe, Western pears, Shine Muscat grapes, and osmanthus flower liqueur - Spaghetti with red king crab and mizuna greens - Today's charcoal-grilled dish with Kyoto pork, taro, ginkgo nuts, bamboo shoots, shiitake mushrooms, and enoki mushrooms - Today's dessert - Red tea The charcoal-grilled dish of the day allowed me to choose between pork and beef (+3,465 yen). There were also several options for post-meal tea. The atmosphere of the restaurant, as well as the food, were excellent. It's a shame that this restaurant is not in Tokyo. Considering the course content and portion size, I felt that the cost performance was quite good. I would definitely like to visit this restaurant again when I go to Kyoto.

I told the taxi driver to go from Kawaramachi in Kyoto to Yasaka Pagoda, but we had to stop a little before the shop due to heavy traffic and difficulty in vehicle access. From there, we followed the Kyoto-like scenery and arrived at a restaurant called Il Giottone, standing quietly near the five-story pagoda. The dishes were all so delicious that I was speechless with amazement. The flavors, textures, aromas, and sounds of the ingredients were all enjoyable. I definitely want to go back again.

There is a shop next to Yasaka Tower, and I think there is no better shop in terms of the situation. It is a somewhat high-end shop, but the staff are very friendly and approachable without being pretentious. Despite this, they have ample knowledge and are willing to teach you various things. The dishes go beyond the typical Italian framework, and both the appearance and taste were wonderful. Thank you for the meal \(^o^)/ I will visit again. (I'm worried about whether I can make a reservation...)
