Hello~☆
I headed eagerly to this restaurant, "Shunka Umami Sake Kitchen Wa Kyo," where I was turned away a few days ago because it was crowded. Check out the recommended dishes for this season of long days here☆ I also saw some great deals being tweeted on Twitter recently, so I checked it out and got excited. Today, I took a picture of the exterior and enjoyed watching the fish swimming gracefully in the pond. The theme for today is "Feeling the Spring♪" with prices ranging from 4,000 to 5,000 yen.
I started off thinking I would go for something with potatoes, but decided to start with a beer. The "appetizer" was served without me even having to ask, and it was called "Sakura Trout and Nagaimo Dutch Stew." Dutch stew is a dish where something that has been fried once is then stewed. It was delicious and I was already getting excited. A friend I hadn't seen in a while happened to come in, so we had a toast and caught up.
Moving on to the main dishes, I decided to try the "Delicious! Gindara Saikyo Yaki." It was indeed delicious as it was written on the menu. The miso glaze was perfectly done, and the fish was cooked just right over charcoal. The texture was tender and the gentle miso flavor and smoky aroma were delightful. The garlic soy sauce pickled garlic cloves that came with it were also delicious, but my friend refused to eat them because he said they make you smell bad the next day, so I finished them all.
Since the menu changes almost daily, I always find it difficult to choose what to order. But among the unfamiliar fish, I was curious about the "Nodoguro Aburi Sashimi," so I decided to try it. Also known as Akamutsu, this fish was incredibly flavorful and fatty, with a crispy and aromatic skin. It was so delicious! It's considered a high-end fish, and it's not often available here, so it's definitely worth trying.
After enjoying the fish, I decided to savor the taste of spring with the "Udo Tamari Shoyu-zuke" and the "Spring Vegetable Tempura Assortment." My friend wanted to try the "Tempura of Tarano Me and Kogomi," so we ordered that as well. The tempura was crispy and the unique bitterness of the ingredients added a nice touch. The sake was flowing, and I was already feeling satisfied and wanting to come back for more.
I realized I forgot to try the ayu fish this time! I always do some research before visiting a restaurant, but when I see the extensive menu, I always end up choosing something different. This restaurant always surprises me with its variety of dishes, and I will definitely visit again.
