I dined in a private room on the 3rd floor, and the spacious and calm atmosphere allowed me to relax while enjoying my meal. It was my first time trying Kansai-style sukiyaki, and the meat was incredibly tender and the seasoning was perfect, making it very delicious. The staff carefully prepared all the dishes while considering the pace of our meal, which was very helpful.

Yesterday, we visited this restaurant for a family trip dinner! We usually have sukiyaki at a different restaurant in Kyoto every time we come, but this time we couldn't make a reservation there so we called this place on a whim and they had seats available if we came by 5pm. We had passed by the restaurant many times before, but it always seemed too fancy and expensive to try, so we were excited to finally go in! When we entered, we left our shoes at the entrance and were guided upstairs to our table in a grand hall (not a private room) that was truly impressive. It had a classical, charming atmosphere that reminded me of the Meiji era! We ordered sukiyaki and the staff took care of everything from start to finish. The flavors were mild, so you could eat a lot. The meat was tender and we ended up ordering more. I would definitely like to visit again when I come back to Kyoto. Thank you for the wonderful meal! ☆

I arrived on time for my reservation, but still had to wait a bit. I learned for the first time that there is a difference between Kanto-style sukiyaki and Kansai-style sukiyaki. The taste is quite impressive, but the price is on the higher side. If you communicate your preferences in advance, they are willing to be somewhat flexible with the vegetables, which is a good point.

I splurged a little and enjoyed the Sukiyaki Gokujougetsu course at Mishimaya with a friend. The meal was around 21,000 yen, which was quite expensive for me, but definitely worth it. The meat was tender, and the vegetables and rice were delicious. The restaurant has been around since the Meiji era, so the atmosphere inside is very nostalgic and enjoyable. I left feeling satisfied. The staff cook the sukiyaki for you, so you don't have to worry about how to cook it yourself. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Located in Teramachi Sanjo in Kyoto, Mishimatei is a historic building dating back to the Meiji era. I made a reservation to try their sukiyaki. The restaurant opens at 11 am, but I arrived a little early, for which they were very accommodating. The private rooms have chair and table seating with an electric heater in the middle. A staff member brings tea and hot towels to the room. We started with a toast with beer and enjoyed some delicious appetizers. The meat here is top-notch. The sukiyaki pot, shaped like an octagon, was brought to us along with the main meat dishes of shoulder loin and misuji. The staff cooked the sukiyaki for us, starting with sugar, then adding the meat and sauce. The meat was tender and flavorful. Vegetables were added later, including onions and leeks which were also delicious. The staff was attentive and served us rice, pickles, and simmered meat as well. We ended the meal with a refreshing melon dessert. It was a satisfying meal and I highly recommend it. After dining, we headed to Nanzan to watch a performance at Gion Corner. It was a perfect way to end the evening.

I was invited by a friend to visit Kyoto. It was rare for me to eat sukiyaki at a restaurant, but I had the opportunity to enjoy sukiyaki at a long-established restaurant in Kyoto, which felt like a dream. First, we were guided inside by the staff. Kyoto is a tourist destination, so the atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. We sat in a tatami room and ordered sukiyaki. As you can see in the photos, the freshness and color of the meat were outstanding. I was worried if I could eat so much, but the sukiyaki was so rich and delicious that I couldn't help but think, "Was sukiyaki always this delicious?" I had no problem finishing it. The meat was truly exceptional. The host served us the highest quality Japanese beef using their own unique method. The vegetables were also delicious, and I even ordered extra shiitake mushrooms.

**Must-Visit!** Enjoy the finest black-haired Wagyu beef cooked in traditional style! This renowned Kyoto restaurant specializes in sukiyaki, with a charming traditional atmosphere. Their aged Wagyu beef is incredibly flavorful! The attentive servers skillfully cook the dishes right in front of you, adding to the experience. In addition to sukiyaki, they also offer options like oil-grilled and hot pot, making it hard to choose. Perfect for business meetings and entertaining guests. **Course notes:** - Lunch course (7,986 yen per person) includes service charge. Choose from sukiyaki, oil-grilled, or hot pot. Each course includes simmered dish, beef, egg (sukiyaki only), vegetables, rice, pickles, and fruit. - Sapporo Beer (891 yen per bottle) - Sweet potato shochu with hot water (713 yen) **Closing thoughts:** Finally fulfilled my wish to visit this place I had been eyeing for a while. The impeccable service by the servers, as expected from a longstanding establishment, added to the charm. The cozy atmosphere and the excellent feedback from my business partners made the experience even more enjoyable. The sukiyaki from this historic restaurant truly felt special and top-notch!

When the World Cup season comes around, I remember this place. It's a reminder for me. The reward for those who always correctly predict the winner is this sukiyaki. The room fee is 2000 yen. We had one beer, 8 servings of premium sukiyaki, and 4 servings of regular sukiyaki for a total of 78,000 yen (shared among four people). I would love to come back here again as a reward for something else.

Whenever I come to Kyoto, I always go to this restaurant - my favorite sukiyaki place in Japan! I chose the course with the least amount of fat, and it was delicious as always. Even though we couldn't get a private room, the chairs were comfortable to sit in. This time, the chef cooked with a lighter flavor, which was perfect for me as I was suffering from a severe hangover. The meat at Sanshotei is the best!

Every time I passed by the restaurant, I had a wish to try sukiyaki someday for about 10 years. Finally, my wish came true this time. I made a lunch reservation on a weekday and visited the restaurant. I received a phone call from the restaurant to confirm if I could climb the stairs to the 3rd floor, as the room was located there. When I visited, I found out that the stairs were quite steep. I wondered what people who couldn't climb stairs would do. I was guided through a corridor with soft carpet to a private room on the 3rd floor. The restroom was only on the 2nd floor. The service started with a greeting from a waitress who was as old as my parents, and then we started the sukiyaki. We toasted with Kirin bottled beer! They brought white rice at the right timing, so we had it from the beginning. They also brought beef stew and three types of pickles: pumpkin, mizuna?, and Shibazuke. They were also delicious. We sprinkled sugar on the iron plate melted with beef fat, spread the meat, and poured the sauce. The meat was quite thick. They also prepared beaten eggs, where we put the meat. Needless to say, it was delicious. After enjoying the meat, it was time for vegetables. Onion, Kujo green onion, tofu, shirataki noodles, fu, and two unfamiliar ones were red chili pepper and winter melon. They said it was seasonal vegetables. I was a bit surprised. I thought it was unnecessary for sukiyaki. The Kujo green onion was really delicious, as expected! I decided to use it at home next time. After finishing the vegetables, they grilled the meat again. I requested an additional egg at this point. They also highly recommended extra rice, but I didn't have the capacity for it, so I declined. For the second round of meat, they grilled a bundle of trefoil leaves together, and finally, the meat was served with trefoil leaves on top. They said to eat them together. It was refreshing and delicious when eaten together. The dessert at the end was fruits: melon and pear. Both were very delicious. The portion was quite generous. I was really full at the end. They mentioned that the meat was 120g per person. It was just the right amount for us in terms of quantity and quality. It might be a bit lacking for men. The waitress had a good sense of distance and sometimes chatted with us, making it a pleasant experience. The neighboring room was empty until we finished our meal, so we could enjoy a quiet and peaceful time. I was very satisfied and felt like I wanted to take someone special to this restaurant. It's not cheap, but I was satisfied.

【Sanjotei】"Sukiyaki Shogodo" Established in 1873. Dining at this restaurant's top-class course, featuring the finest beef, feels like attending an exclusive gathering. The "Gokujougetsu Course" consists of thinly sliced beef, sugar-like sweet sauce, raw egg for dipping, and rice, all meticulously prepared. The combination of beef, fat, sugar, soy sauce, egg, and rice is truly golden. This night was dedicated to the pursuit of this perfect blend. Have you ever wondered why Sanjotei's sukiyaki pot is octagonal in shape?

It is located about a 7-8 minute walk west from exit 6 of Sanjo Station on the Keihan Main Line. Upon entering the shop, you will be guided to a private room. Cheers with a bottle of Sapporo beer. Here, I had the exquisite Gokujougetsu course of sukiyaki. An eel chawanmushi is served before the sukiyaki. Eel with plum paste and trefoil on top, with lily root inside. It has a gentle flavor. The main sukiyaki dish is then served. The staff cooks the sukiyaki for you, so you can focus on eating. In an octagonal pot, beef fat and sugar are laid down, beef is added, and the sauce is poured over it. You get three slices of beef at 130g each. First, enjoy just the beef, dipped in beaten raw egg. You can savor the meat's umami, the sweetness of the fat, and the melting texture. Next, various vegetables are added. Wheat gluten, onion, shiitake mushrooms, konnyaku noodles, winter melon, lotus root, leek, and red bell pepper are added, sprinkled with sugar, and cooked in the sauce. Enjoy konnyaku noodles and leek first, followed by onion, lotus root, shiitake, red bell pepper, and wheat gluten. There are also vegetables that are not usually included in sukiyaki, making it fresh. Then, the second slice of meat, grilled tofu, and trefoil are added and cooked. Enjoy winter melon, grilled tofu, and trefoil together. For the final round of sukiyaki, cook the remaining vegetables, konnyaku noodles, onion, trefoil, leek, grilled tofu, and the third slice of beef. Dip the beef and vegetables in beaten raw egg. Enjoy the taste of the meat and the texture of the vegetables. After sukiyaki, rice, simmered beef, and pickles (shiba-zuke, mibuna greens, pumpkin) are served. The sweet and savory simmered beef, crunchy pickles, and rice help balance out the richness from the sukiyaki. The dessert is muscat grapes, served with jelly and mint. You can taste the sweetness, acidity, and refreshing mint. I relaxed with brown rice tea. It was great to enjoy exquisite sukiyaki in a cozy atmosphere. If I have the opportunity next time, I would like to try the oil-grilled dish or the hot pot as well. Thank you for the meal.

The first visit had a good atmosphere, good customer service, and good taste. The experience of seeing and eating Kansai-style food up close, as well as the timing of the meal, were well thought out and made the place very comfortable. You could feel the popularity of the restaurant. If you want to taste sukiyaki in Kyoto, be sure to visit!

First stop on my gourmet trip in Kyoto. A friend recommended this place as a must-visit in Kyoto, and I was able to make a lunch reservation three days in advance. I ordered the lunch course sukiyaki for 7,986 yen. The sukiyaki was delicious from start to finish. The meat and vegetables were soaked in a flavorful broth, not too strong but allowing the natural flavors to shine through. The black wagyu beef was lightly seared in a pot sprinkled with sugar, then cooked with the broth. Once cooked, it was dipped in egg for a creamy finish. The sweet umami flavor of the black wagyu melted in your mouth, combining perfectly with the egg. It was tender yet satisfying, and incredibly tasty. The vegetables included leeks, bell peppers, onions, konjac, tofu, and wheat gluten. They were simmered in the broth with sugar, creating a delicious combination. Sometimes sukiyaki can dry out or be too intense, but this one was just right. I enjoyed it until the last bite. The pickles and minced beef served with white rice were also delicious. I ended up having three bowls of rice. The dessert was a luxurious melon, sweet and refreshing. The fact that the staff prepares everything for you ensures you enjoy it at its best. While it may not be the most cost-effective option, the taste, service, and ambiance were excellent, leaving me completely satisfied.

I am very satisfied. Sukiyaki lunch course costs around 7500 yen. The staff is dedicated to cooking the meat, which was delicious and melted in my mouth! The restaurant has private rooms, so privacy is guaranteed (although you may hear voices from the next room).

My wife and I are both born in May, so our daughter surprised us with a luxurious dinner at Mishimaya. It had been thirty years since we last visited together when we were still single. We were deeply moved by the delicious sukiyaki and the surprise gift from our daughter, and our hearts were filled with warmth. Thank you so much for the wonderful meal.

A long-established sukiyaki restaurant located at the intersection of Teramachi and Sanjo in Kyoto! It's not a place for everyday dining, but the taste and service are top-notch. The sukiyaki is beyond delicious, I can't find words to describe it! I couldn't resist adding extra meat... Thank you for the wonderful meal! I will definitely come back!

In front of Kyoto City Hall is Sanjima-tei Honten, a long-established sukiyaki restaurant. I visited without a reservation and was able to get a table. The building itself has a traditional feel but is clean and I was guided to a private room on the second floor. Sukiyaki lunch course (7,986 yen): Dipping the sukiyaki in the egg and taking a bite, the combination of the meat juices, tenderness, and egg is so delicious that it almost makes you want to flip over. It's a shame to enjoy this alone... I thought about treating my junior colleagues if our schedules matched, but everyone is busy with Golden Week... The vegetables (especially the leeks) and shirataki noodles are excellent, and I couldn't stop eating the rice. The pickles and beef stew are also outstanding! Overall, the atmosphere and the destructively delicious taste were top-notch.

I informed them that my train was approaching, and they kindly offered to serve me quickly. I appreciate their consideration. I didn't have to worry about cooking the hot pot myself and could just focus on eating. That day, we had meat from Kyoto (apparently the origin varies depending on the day). When they offered more meat when serving the rice, of course, I said yes. I left the restaurant with a full stomach and great satisfaction, ending my trip to Kyoto.
