It is located about a 7-8 minute walk west from exit 6 of Sanjo Station on the Keihan Main Line. Upon entering the shop, you will be guided to a private room. Cheers with a bottle of Sapporo beer. Here, I had the exquisite Gokujougetsu course of sukiyaki. An eel chawanmushi is served before the sukiyaki. Eel with plum paste and trefoil on top, with lily root inside. It has a gentle flavor. The main sukiyaki dish is then served. The staff cooks the sukiyaki for you, so you can focus on eating. In an octagonal pot, beef fat and sugar are laid down, beef is added, and the sauce is poured over it. You get three slices of beef at 130g each. First, enjoy just the beef, dipped in beaten raw egg. You can savor the meat's umami, the sweetness of the fat, and the melting texture. Next, various vegetables are added. Wheat gluten, onion, shiitake mushrooms, konnyaku noodles, winter melon, lotus root, leek, and red bell pepper are added, sprinkled with sugar, and cooked in the sauce. Enjoy konnyaku noodles and leek first, followed by onion, lotus root, shiitake, red bell pepper, and wheat gluten. There are also vegetables that are not usually included in sukiyaki, making it fresh. Then, the second slice of meat, grilled tofu, and trefoil are added and cooked. Enjoy winter melon, grilled tofu, and trefoil together. For the final round of sukiyaki, cook the remaining vegetables, konnyaku noodles, onion, trefoil, leek, grilled tofu, and the third slice of beef. Dip the beef and vegetables in beaten raw egg. Enjoy the taste of the meat and the texture of the vegetables. After sukiyaki, rice, simmered beef, and pickles (shiba-zuke, mibuna greens, pumpkin) are served. The sweet and savory simmered beef, crunchy pickles, and rice help balance out the richness from the sukiyaki. The dessert is muscat grapes, served with jelly and mint. You can taste the sweetness, acidity, and refreshing mint. I relaxed with brown rice tea. It was great to enjoy exquisite sukiyaki in a cozy atmosphere. If I have the opportunity next time, I would like to try the oil-grilled dish or the hot pot as well. Thank you for the meal.
