Whenever I visit Kyoto along with the Yuge Gion store, I always make sure to stop by this place, "Mitsubachi." This particular store is a favorite of mine in the dessert scene of Kyoto, so much so that it is an unwritten rule for me to visit without fail. After leaving Chukasoba Takayasu, I took the Eizan Electric Railway back to Demachiyanagi and headed to this store on Kawaramachi Street. Upon arrival, I found an empty table for two near the front and quickly looked over the menu. I hesitated between ordering Zenzai and a mini anmitsu set, but my mood that day called for anmitsu, so I ordered the matcha cream anmitsu as usual. Matcha cream anmitsu - ah, the rich sweetness and depth of matcha spread in my mouth, making me feel incredibly happy. The slight scent of the seaweed in the agar jelly is also delightful. I believe the decisive difference between Mitsubachi and other stores lies in the agar jelly. I don't know of any agar jelly tastier than this homemade agar jelly from Chikura in Minamiboso. In addition, the balance between the sweetness of the black syrup and the saltiness of the red beans creates the ultimate anmitsu. After enjoying a refill of hojicha (which is delicious), I headed to the next destination.

Visited on a Sunday evening, but the apricot shaved ice I wanted was sold out for the day. It seems that it can sell out as early as early afternoon on some days, so please keep that in mind. Instead, I tried the white rice cake with sweet red beans and Uji shaved ice set, and it was delicious. I felt ashamed for initially thinking, "Well, in that case, I'll have..." and ordering it as a replacement.

Let's have tea at this shop on Kawaramachi Street in Demachiyanagi. It's a popular shop listed on Tabelog's Top 100, and despite being full, we were able to get a table in about 10 minutes. The milk shaved ice costs 800 yen. I added matcha ice cream as an option for 100 yen. The milk is homemade and delicious. The matcha ice cream is rich and good. The prices are reasonable and we left satisfied. Payment is cash only.

I visited the restaurant for a snack at 3 pm on a regular day. There were four groups of customers, including myself, and it was a relaxing space where I could take my time. Since it was hot today, I ordered a shaved ice and cream anmitsu set. The shaved ice was topped with black honey and kinako, and the taste was gentle and soothing from the first bite. The kinako played a nice role in enhancing the flavor. The anmitsu had matcha ice cream which was not too sweet, but when I poured the black honey that came with it, it created a good balance. Everything, including the agar jelly and shiratama, seemed to be filled with attention to detail. Many customers seemed to be ordering the apricot shaved ice, so I've decided that I'll try it next summer! I ended the meal slowly with warm tea. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Kyoto in summer is hot. I visited seeking some relief from the heat in the early afternoon. It was crowded, so I had to wait for about 10 minutes before being seated. I ordered a white bean paste with rice-flour dumplings and it was delicious. I don't usually eat sweet things, but once in a while, it's nice.

I visited on Friday at 3 pm. There was only one person ahead of me, so I waited. I ordered the white ball sweet red bean soup and a set of Uji shaved ice. The white ball sweet red bean soup was traditional and light, with the red bean paste being not too sweet and easy to eat. You can also add plenty of black syrup. The shaved ice had a strong Uji flavor, with a rich taste of tea. Overall, it was a great portion. There was also a fan placed at the feet, so it was cool and comfortable.

After visiting Demachi Futaba, we went to Mitsubachi. We were lucky to get in right away around 2 pm on Saturday (there was a line afterwards). I ordered the Shiratama Cream Anmitsu with Matcha Ice Cream and a mini Uji Ice Vanilla Ice Cream with Kinako sprinkled on top. When it arrived, I couldn't help but exclaim at its beauty. And the taste was beyond words. After walking in the scorching heat, it hit the spot perfectly. The matcha flavor was strong and everything, from the honey to the agar jelly to the red bean paste to the ice cream, was delicious. The shaved ice melted in the mouth just right. My mouth was constantly filled with happiness. If they don't have a successor, I would want to take over because it was so delicious. I will definitely visit again! Thank you for the wonderful meal.

I tried the special apricot jelly ice made by Mitsubachi-san (with agar and red beans) last year and I became completely addicted ✨ It's simple with just apricot, but it's perfect for this scorching heat ( ⁎ᵕᴗᵕ⁎ )♡ A plain ice topped with rich homemade apricot syrup (with plenty of fruit chunks) is unbelievably delicious ♡♡♡(๑ÖㅁÖ๑) So delicious ♡♡♡( *¯ч¯*)੭ ˒˒Mogu mogu (sound of eating) Thank you for the wonderful meal ✨

I went to a shop called "Mitsubachi" in Kawaramachi-dori, just below Imadegawa. It's located about a 10-minute walk from Demachiyanagi Station, across the river. I was looking for a place to eat delicious warabi mochi near Demachiyanagi Station, and I found this shop that serves anmitsu. It's a small shop, but it was full of customers and I had to wait outside for a bit. When I visit Kyoto, I often eat warabi mochi, but I also thought anmitsu was good. It was delicious.

I ordered the matcha cream anmitsu and the mini special apricot shaved ice. A few years ago, a favorite illustrator of mine recommended the apricot shaved ice, and even though I'm not a big fan of shaved ice, I really enjoyed it. It seemed to be a limited edition item, as the person who ordered after me was informed that it was sold out, so I just made it in time. The restaurant was full. If I visit again during a hot season, I will definitely order the special apricot shaved ice.

When I came to Kyoto, I wanted to try some sweets. I found "Mitsubachi" during my research and decided to visit. I was drawn to the agar jelly and apricot dessert. I tried the shiratama cream anmitsu and ousu. The anmitsu had a firm agar jelly texture and went well with the sweet red bean paste and matcha ice cream. The apricot was also deliciously prepared. The ousu had a Kyoto-like taste, adding to the wonderful experience. I truly wished to taste more of Kyoto during this lovely time.

On this day, the typhoon had passed and the weather was nice. After walking quite a bit and working up a light sweat, I decided to cool off at Mitsubachi-san. The location is just a 1-minute walk south from Kawaramachi Imadegawa. They also offer takeout. What I had was the White Tapioca Cream Anmitsu & Mini Milk Ice (1250 yen). It was a white tapioca anmitsu with matcha ice cream. The kuromitsu (black honey) came in a separate dish, so you can pour it on as much as you like. The mini milk ice was a decent size and very enjoyable. I also liked being able to change the flavor by adding the sweet kuromitsu. The gentle and friendly service from the female staff was also very pleasant.

Our shop is a super famous store for Anmitsu, representing Kansai, and is a regular at the Top 100 Sweets in the West on Tabelog. They use domestically produced hand-made agar made from Amakusa, which is almost impossible to eat domestically, as well as carefully selected domestic ingredients, and the reputation of their Anmitsu is high. I had been curious about it for a while. I visited just before 3 pm on weekends and there were 2 groups waiting outside. After a short wait, I entered the shop and ordered the set of "White Tapioca Cream Anmitsu and Mini Black Honey Kinako Ice" that I was looking for. After a while, it was served. Let's eat. This is delicious! A simple and high-quality dish with a deep taste of quality ingredients, a wonderful masterpiece. The agar with a firm texture, the red beans with the original taste, the modestly sweet and elegant red bean paste, the chewy white tapioca, and the perfectly balanced handmade black honey made with Kuroshio Island brown sugar. The mini black honey kinako ice was also delicious with an elegant sweetness, and I could eat it endlessly. It was a wonderful Anmitsu, the best in life, worth coming to eat. I will definitely visit again. Next time, I would like to have the set of "White Tapioca Cream Anmitsu and Mini Black Honey Kinako Ice" again. Thank you for the meal.

◼️【Overview】◼️A dessert shop located a 5-minute walk from Demachiyanagi Station. The must-try item recommended by foodie friends and regulars is their "kanten" (agar jelly). According to a foodie friend who has completed the "Tabelog Sweets Top 100" list, the kanten here is said to be the best.◼️【Shop Features/Ambiance】◼️The shop has a cozy atmosphere with wooden accents, and the seating is spacious and comfortable. It was quite empty during a weekday afternoon compared to the crowded cafe next door. Most customers seemed to be getting their orders to go. The staff were friendly and provided attentive service, adding to the relaxed atmosphere.◼️【Food】◼️The kanten here is delicious and has a unique texture. It's firm with a slightly salty taste. The "shiratama cream anmitsu" is also of high quality, with each ingredient tasting great, especially the apricot. However, as I have limited experience with kanten, I couldn't fully grasp the "difference" in taste. Before visiting the shop, a foodie friend mentioned that "it's definitely the best, but if you haven't tried kanten at various places, you might not fully appreciate how great it is here." Makes sense... Even though I may not be able to discern the differences in kanten, the sweets I tried were all delicious, and combined with the relaxed ambiance of the shop, it made for a lovely leisurely afternoon. Thank you for the meal.◼️【Orders】◼️○ Vanilla Cream Anmitsu○ Milk Shaved Ice○ Matcha Kinako Latte

On Tuesdays, many stores seem to be closed for rest. I found a place that was open and had about 50% of the tables occupied around 1:20 PM. I ordered a white bean paste anmitsu set with a mini milk ice. It was served in about 6 minutes, with plenty of black syrup poured over it. The agar jelly here is made by carefully simmering a seaweed called Amakusa, as written in the store's advertisement outside. I don't have much experience with agar jelly, but it has a gentle taste. The orange fig on top was just okay. The bean paste and white balls were delicious, and the shaved ice was refreshing. I paid in cash, totaling 1150 yen. Time to move on to the next place.

The sweet shop in Demachiyanagi is popular for its anmitsu! I wanted to eat the red bean jelly, but when I went in the evening, it was sold out, so I reluctantly had the anmitsu instead. The White Tofu Anmitsu (¥750) is topped with homemade agar jelly, red peas, white balls, sweet red bean paste, apricot, and black syrup. All the ingredients are carefully selected! The agar jelly made by simmering agar is smooth and slippery♪♪ I was surprised because I had the image of agar jelly being hard and stiff. It's delicious when mixed with plenty of black syrup♡ As someone who wanted to eat red bean jelly, I wished there were more red peas. I managed to buy the apricot red bean jelly that I had reserved for takeout and safely brought it home. Next time, I want to go eat red bean jelly and the shaved ice that will start in May.

I was finally able to visit the famous sweet shop in Demachiyanagi that I had been curious about for a while. The interior of the shop had a calm atmosphere, giving me the impression of a nice sweet shop in Kyoto. Since their anmitsu seemed to be popular, I decided to go with that. I ordered the "Shiratama Cream Anmitsu with Matcha Ice Cream for 850 yen." The anmitsu was sweet and delicious, not just sweet but also had a rich flavor, and I was able to enjoy it until the last bite without getting tired of it. I don't think I've ever had anmitsu this delicious before. This is definitely a shop I will visit again. It was really delicious. I definitely want to come back again!

At a sweet shop in Demachiyanagi, Kyoto. Anmitsu and shaved ice seem to be popular. I tried the shiratama zenzai. They offer both hot and cold options, and since it was a warm spring day, I chose the cold one. They use red beans from Hokkaido. The white and green balls are cute and round. Served in a beautiful bowl, the zenzai was perfectly chilled. It had a refined sweetness and was delicious. The matcha used in the o-usui is from the long-established Yagurien Tea Shop in Kyoto. When you hold the teacup, it has a nice aroma. It has a smooth texture and goes perfectly with the zenzai. Delicious tea and sweets. They also offer takeout.

Located in the northeast of the Kyoto Imperial Palace, near Kawaramachi Street and close to Demachiyanagi Station, this cafe has a traditional Japanese atmosphere with a casual vibe. During my visit, there was only one other group of customers who left shortly after, so I had the place to myself to relax. The seating consists of a long table counter with 4 seats and 3 tables (2-seater and 2 3-seater tables).
I tried the White Rice Cake Anmitsu (750 yen), which came with 2 white rice cakes topped with red bean paste and apricot. The texture of the agar jelly and the flavor of the red bean paste were both excellent, showcasing high-quality ingredients. The white rice cakes were chewy and satisfying, and the apricot added a nice touch of acidity. The portion of black syrup was generous, so I recommend adding it gradually to avoid overwhelming the dish.

I visited on a regular day and was promptly seated. The staff was very friendly. I ordered the mini cream anmitsu set. The warm zenzai and anmitsu were not as good as I had expected, just average. The anmitsu was actually tastier.

A traditional Japanese confectionery shop located in Demachiyanagi, one of the top 100 restaurants on Tabelog. The shop has a cute interior where you can relax. They offer a perfect harmony of a not too soft, not too hard texture of agar jelly and black syrup made from Okinawan black sugar. The white dumplings, apricots, matcha ice cream, and sweet red bean paste are all delicious.
