The food was delicious and having the omakase was a great experience. It was very lucky to secure a table for lunch on the last day of our Kyoto trip. The staff was lovely and friendly. They asked if we had any food allergies, which was very considerate. They also explained all the dishes to us so we could learn more about what we were eating. All the food was very tasty and fresh. We will definitely come back on our next trip to Kyoto.

I visited on a regular night! I was looking forward to it as it is produced by Mr. Sasaki. The counter had a configuration of 8 seats in a curved shape. [Food] Omakase course [Price] Soft drinks only, around 30,000 yen per person. [Other] Overall, it was an enjoyable sushi restaurant where the staff made an effort to entertain. It had a very bright atmosphere where you could talk to other customers! In addition to pickled ginger, vinegar-pickled lotus root was provided as a chopstick rest, which made me very happy as I love chopstick rests. However, I found the number of sushi pieces to be insufficient and felt a bit unsatisfied. They did not ask if we wanted to order more. I did not think the cost performance was good! However, overall, it was a fun space where I could enjoy delicious food, so I would like to visit again in a different season. Thank you for the meal. ♡

I was a bit nervous as it was my first time visiting a restaurant produced by Sasaki. I participated in a private party with 7 people. The counter was arranged in a curve so that everyone could be together. The owner and the staff created a cheerful atmosphere throughout, providing pleasant service. The course menu, a fusion of Kyoto cuisine and Edo-style sushi, was constantly changing and kept me interested. In addition to pickled ginger, there was vinegar-pickled lotus root for palate cleansing. It was so refreshing that I asked for more. The dishes were served in beautiful tableware, such as the luxurious abalone dish that only abalone can be served in. You can feel the owner's dedication. It's important that the food is delicious, but this restaurant made me realize that dining is also about enjoying the experience. The sushi made by the owner, who always had a smile on his face, was naturally delicious. He even posed for photos with a playful attitude. I was seated next to the head chef of a Michelin-starred restaurant in Hokuriku, but I was impressed by the owner's equal treatment in customer service.

The best sushi restaurant I've ever been to, where everyone was truly wonderful and made me feel like they really wanted me to have a great time. The tuna was fatty and melted in my mouth... so delicious. Each dish was carefully thought out and you could feel the owner's passion and dedication. Every piece of sushi was exceptional, with perfect balance between the rice and the topping. I felt happy throughout the whole experience. I will definitely visit again when I come to Kyoto next time.

I visited "Sushi Rakumi," a renowned restaurant in Kyoto run by the famous Gion Sasaki. It is located in Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto City, about a 7-minute walk from the Keihan Subway Line's Sanjo Keihan Station. Despite opening in January 2019, the restaurant earned a Michelin star in the following year in the 'Michelin Guide Kyoto 2020.' The head chef, Nomura Taisho, trained at Gion Sasaki for six years before opening this restaurant, and further honed his skills at Sushi Yoshitake in Ginza for a year. The restaurant has only 8 counter seats on the first floor, with a waiting area on the second floor. The dishes I tried during my visit included: - Rare delicacy resembling Kochi's re-sore noodles - Taiza from Awaji Island, and fugu shirako - Akagai from Yamaguchi - Fried white fish with wood buds and seaweed - Swordtip squid from Kanzaki - Kinmedai with a slightly crispy skin - Shitake mushrooms - Vinegared red rice with grilled firefly squid and udo and green onions - Oyster oil pickles - Mackerel bar sushi with seaweed wrapping - Bafun sea urchin - Cherry salmon with yellow chives from Okayama - Chiba Katsuura lean tuna pickle - Chiba Katsuura medium fatty tuna - Chiba Katsuura fatty tuna with garlic - Anago - Wood bud pickled in radish - Thick roll - Sweet strawberry roll The ambiance was great, and I would love to revisit during a different season. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

I was surprised by the entrance to the store! The automatic door of the secret base is stylish. The counter also has a nice atmosphere and is very cozy. The conversation between the chef and the apprentice adds to the deliciousness of the food - perhaps it's a secret ingredient! The attention to detail and thoughtfulness is truly top-notch for a high-end restaurant! Each dish is subtly flavored yet has a strong taste, making it delicious. Clearly, the chef's skills, honed under Sasaki, are evident. The sushi is also delicious, and I could eat as much as I want. The pickled ginger is the best I've ever had at a sushi restaurant - it's practically a side dish! The beer and sake are also enjoyable, and the bill is reasonable. It's great value for money. I would love to go for dinner if I get the chance. Definitely recommended, you can't go wrong with this place.

Gion Sasaki-san's sushi restaurant. The decor was beautiful, with a luxurious hinoki wood counter. Head chef Nomura-san has improved his skills, making the shari (sushi rice) incredibly delicious. The shari was prepared meticulously each time and was very good! The sushi was elegantly crafted, making for an enjoyable dining experience.

To Sushi Rakumi for the third time. Every time I go, Sushi Rakumi continues to evolve. The friendly master and the lovely apprentice always make the atmosphere interesting. I love that ambiance and it makes me want to come back again. It's a place where you can't experience the same atmosphere and camaraderie at other restaurants. The sushi is excellent, but what sets this place apart is the friendly environment where customers can bond. I had a great time chatting with the ladies who were dining together today. They were wonderful people. The atmosphere of this restaurant deserves five stars. The warm chawanmushi served at the beginning warmed us up on this cold day and had a comforting taste. The marinated bonito that followed had a rich flavor that paired well with sake and was exquisite. And of course, the abalone. The abalone here is steamed for 6 hours, making it incredibly tender with a perfect texture. It was served with salt and a delicious liver sauce, and when mixed with the shari, it was a perfect combination. I definitely want to come back for this abalone. The sushi toppings were not only served raw but also slightly grilled or seared, which was unique. I saw them directly searing the toppings with charcoal, which gave a nice aroma and whetted my appetite. The sushi was also made in a size that was easy for women to eat and was incredibly delicious. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

It is a small restaurant with about 8 counter seats! They have a system of serving two rounds per day. The sushi is delicious, and the other dishes are also amazing, making it a wonderful experience. The head chef is young, but both the staff and the chef are skilled and pleasant to talk to, creating a lovely atmosphere. The prices are on the higher side as it is a high-end sushi restaurant in Gion, so I may not be able to visit frequently, but I would love to go back for special occasions.

I went to the restaurant because my acquaintance Nomura recommended it. There is a waiting room on the second floor, and everyone starts at the same time. It's a sushi restaurant with a Japanese feel rather than just sushi. I really liked it. It was delicious!

【Gion Rakumi】A sushi restaurant that is difficult to make reservations at. The head chef, originally from Toyama Prefecture, is friendly and considerate. Today, I visited the Gion area after a long time. The restaurant is located a little east of Shirakawa in Gion. A friend recently excitedly told me, "I was able to make a reservation at a wonderful restaurant, would you like to join me?" I was surprised to hear that a reservation had been made. The friend mentioned a place called "Gion Rakumi," a famous sushi restaurant produced by Sasaki. The price was around 25,000 yen per person, which is not something you experience often. Upon arrival at the restaurant around 20:00, we were a bit early for our 20:30 reservation. The restaurant only takes reservations for eight people at a time in two shifts. While waiting, we explored the area around the restaurant. The surroundings were a beautiful antique district, with shops selling high-end antiques. We then arrived at the restaurant and were directed to wait on the second floor until our reservation time. The second floor had a lovely interior with a collection of Baccarat glasses. After a short wait, my friend arrived, and we were escorted downstairs to our seats. The restaurant had a unique L-shaped counter, and we ordered beer and left the rest to the chef. The abalone simmered dish left a lasting impression. It was a delightful reunion with good sushi and drinks. I am grateful for the invitation and look forward to visiting this restaurant again. It was a wonderful dining experience that I highly recommend trying for yourself to understand its charm. Thank you to the head chef and staff. I now understand why Sasaki is so popular.

A new sushi restaurant in the Sasaki series has opened. The abalone rice, mackerel dock, and nigiri are all delicious. Overall, the food is tasty, but some dishes have a slightly salty broth or a fishy smell in the soup, which is disappointing. It would be nice to focus on improving these areas of concern before expanding on the restaurant's strengths.

At this time of year, it's definitely great to have some seafood. Speaking of which, this shop in Kyoto, Gion Sasaki, is quite popular. The young chef is still in training but is steadily improving and learning various things. The highlight of this shop is, of course, Sasaki-san's delicious flavors. I look forward to visiting again and experiencing any new changes.

I heard that Nomura-san, the head chef of Gion Sasaki, will be opening Sushi Rakumi in January, so I decided to visit in March. Nomura-san has trained in sushi making in Ginza, so it's natural that his Japanese cuisine at Gion Sasaki is exceptional. The appetizers are indeed delicious. The sushi is much tastier compared to other sushi restaurants in the area, but I am looking forward to seeing further growth in the future.

"Sushi Rakumi" has evolved to be even more delicious with their monthly one-dish appetizers since their opening. The customer base is excellent, making it a comfortable place to spend time. Mr. Nomura has become more relaxed, and his smile and attentiveness come naturally, creating a pleasant atmosphere. Menu items include: Young bamboo shoot simmered with young sprouts and mirugai, Sea bream sashimi with sea bream soy sauce, Tender simmered abalone with liver sauce (leftover liver sauce can be mixed with sushi rice), Botan shrimp, Simmered sea bream roe, Yellowtail with grilled matsutake mushroom. Sushi starts from here: Firefly squid sushi, Bafun and murasaki sea urchin sushi, Seaweed soup with dessert being strawberries."
