A ramen shop located a 5-6 minute walk from Ichijoji Station on the Eizan Electric Railway. I arrived about 5 minutes after opening, and there were about 6 groups waiting outside. After waiting for about 30 minutes, I was finally seated. I ordered the most popular dish, Chuka Soba for 800 yen, with an additional topping of smoked flavored egg for 120 yen, and 3 pieces of fried chicken for 460 yen. The fried chicken is a specialty here and almost every customer ordered it. The soup, made from simmering pork bones and chicken bones, was creamy and packed with flavor, truly exquisite. The fried chicken was surprisingly large and crispy on the outside, juicy inside with a hint of curry flavor, also delicious. If you can't finish it, you can take it home.

I have been here many times. The restaurant opens at 11:30, and I arrived a little after 11. There were already about 5 groups waiting in line. We were seated at 11:30, and it seems that those who arrived around noon couldn't get in for the first round. The food is delicious and I am always impressed no matter how many times I eat here. The portions are also generous!

On a weekday at 1 pm, the ramen holy land in Kyoto, Ichijo-ji, was not crowded, probably due to the lingering summer heat. I couldn't find any lineups, and I tried the limited quantity "Sujiramen" for 1,190 yen. The beef sinew was simmered until it was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and it was satisfying to see plenty of it in the bowl. The soup had a shiny layer of chicken oil on the surface, along with white sesame and chopped white onions. The menma (bamboo shoots) felt like a bonus. The milky white broth had a rich texture, and the combination of chicken and pork broth was exceptionally delicious, with the sweetness of the sinew enhancing the flavor. In the second half, I added some spicy leek and sesame, which gave a nice kick and added depth to the soup. They also offered free white rice, and you could ask for seconds. The staff were attentive and made ordering easy. I know it's delicious, but I've been eating too much lately, so I need to hold back. The chicken karaage was also tempting, but I resisted for the same reason. The restaurant still maintains its reputation as a great place that values families and students, just like in the past.

One of the popular ramen shops in Ichijoji Ramen Cluster. I remember giving up on visiting before because the line was so long. This time, I visited around 3 pm on a Sunday and was able to enter without waiting in line. Their excellent customer service extends to staying open late into the night. The menu is simple with only two types of ramen, and you can add fried chicken or rice as a set. I ordered just the ramen with a small amount of noodles. The ramen arrived quickly. The soup seemed lighter than I expected, with a pork bone aroma. It's similar to my own style of salt ramen. Overall, it's a light white broth with some umami flavor and a decent balance. However, it still lacks that unique, non-mass-produced taste of my own salt ramen. The fried chicken is a big size, maybe that's what many customers aim for. But overall, it's still like my own salt ramen, including the side menu options. The large amount of chashu is good, but it's slightly tough and has an old-fashioned taste. While it's a well-known shop, it may not be considered a front-runner in the current ramen scene.

To fully enjoy the last summer vibes, I came all the way to Kyoto! I took the reliable Keihan Premium Car from Kyobashi, got a rental bike at Demachiyanagi, and headed to Ichijoji, known for its fierce ramen competition. I was in the mood for a rich ramen that day, so I went to "Chukasoba Takayasu." Surprisingly, the ramen wasn't as rich as I expected, but rather had a nostalgic flavor to it. It reminded me of a famous dish from Nagoya, Sugaki○, in terms of its style. It's definitely more refined than Sugaki○ and seems like a bowl that anyone would enjoy. However, I did feel the flavor became a bit monotonous towards the end. The portion of noodles was generous, so it's great for those who want a hearty meal. Unfortunately, my stomach has been weak lately, so I was satisfied with just one piece of the incredibly large portion of fried chicken (there were actually 6 pieces instead of 5). They kindly allowed me to take the leftovers home, which was nice. After filling up on ramen and beer, I rode my bike to the Kamogawa Delta area. Drinking along the river is always enjoyable, with the sound of water flowing in the background. This time, I ended up drinking by the Kamo River twice! I must really love rivers! Bon appétit!

Located about a 5-minute walk from Ichijoji Station, this restaurant is a place I used to frequent during my student days. I revisited for the first time in about 15 years. It's rare for a ramen shop in this area to have a free parking lot, which is a plus. I arrived at 11:30 on a Saturday and was able to enter without waiting. The unique smell of curry was quite nostalgic. About half of the customers inside were families with children. Depending on the time, there may be quite a wait due to the leisurely pace of eating. The Chuka Soba is 890 yen, Chashu Ramen starts at 1190 yen, and 3 pieces of fried chicken are 550 yen. The food was served in about 10 minutes. The milky and rich broth is made from pork bones and chicken carcasses simmered for 22 hours. Personally, I found it a bit too sweet, but you can adjust the spiciness with the hot oil and garlic on the table. The fried chicken has a curry flavor and each piece is quite substantial, with many people opting to take leftovers home. By the time I left at noon, there were 15 people waiting, so I recommend visiting early. It's a family-friendly restaurant with a cozy atmosphere that doesn't feel like your typical ramen shop. Highly recommended for families, including children.

After 7 years, I finally went there. It's quite far in Ichijoji, so I ordered Gyuusujiramen and one piece of karaage, along with rice. The ramen was delicious as expected. The karaage had a strong smell of curry powder, which was a bit distracting as it made the ramen taste like curry. The karaage may not be necessary. Thank you for the meal.

Before going to Sanzenin and Jakko-in, I stopped by Shugakuin for lunch. I arrived before the restaurant opened because I was craving for suji ramen. I ordered the fried chicken set with suji ramen and a small bowl of rice. It had been a while since I last had suji ramen, and it was delicious. The curry-flavored fried chicken was also tasty. However, I was surprised by how much the prices had increased.

I visited Takayasu, which I consider to be the best ramen shop in Japan, in Tokyo. I took the Kyoto bus 17 from Shijo Takakura, where my hotel is located, and was able to get there in one ride. I arrived at 5:30 PM and there was no line, so I was able to be seated right away. Lucky me! I ordered the following: - Karaage set meal: 1440 yen - Chuka Soba (ramen): 880 yen - Draft beer: 560 yen The ramen was as delicious as ever! The tonkotsu soup is amazing! The karaage was also delicious as always! The curry flavor, crispy coating, and juicy meat are all so tasty! The rice is also delicious as always! It has that taste of being cooked in a pot. I added a lot of spicy garlic chives to my ramen, and it was also delicious! I also added some spicy miso from a red jar to my ramen, and that was tasty too! The ramen and karaage paired well with the draft beer and tasted delicious! The beer mug was ice-cold and refreshing! I have been coming here since my university days in Kyoto in 2001, and although the prices have gone up since then, the taste has remained unchanged. I hope they continue to keep up the good work! By the time I left around 6:30 PM, there was a line of about 15 people, so I timed it well! I will definitely come back again!

I arrived about 10 minutes before the store opened and there were about 30 people in line. I couldn't get in on the first round and had to wait for about 20 minutes. When I ordered ramen, I could choose from small, medium, or large size of rice for free. The rice was refillable for free. The popular fried chicken had a spicy seasoning on it and was very filling.

Hello! Today I visited Chukasoba Takayasu in Ichijoji and had their "Karaage Set". It's a popular ramen shop in the northernmost area of the Kansai Ramen Hyakumeiten in Kyoto. I arrived at 12:00 and there was a wait of about 10 people outside, but the shop is spacious and the turnover is fast. I got seated at 12:25 and my food arrived 10 minutes later.
I ordered the Karaage Set for 1,440 yen. The ramen soup is a creamy tonkotsu shiratama base with a slight sweetness. Unlike many unique and distinct ramen shops in Kyoto, Takayasu has a more orthodox and delicious white soup. The noodles are very thin straight noodles, a bit soft but they soak up the flavor of the soup well.
As for the side menu, the karaage, rice, and pickles were included in the set. I underestimated the portion of karaage thinking I could eat it all, but I was surprised to see four large pieces of karaage. I couldn't finish it all, so they kindly prepared a takeout bag for me. The karaage had a nice crispy outer layer and juicy inside, making it very tasty.
I managed to finish the karaage but couldn't drink all the ramen soup as I was already full. Thank you, Chukasoba Takayasu!

This is my second visit. About half a year ago, I had the suji ramen here and I started craving it, so I had to come back. They have a new couple set menu now (I'm not sure if it was there before or if I just didn't notice it), where you can each choose your favorite ramen and it comes with 5 pieces of karaage and rice. Of course, I chose the suji ramen, with plenty of suji meat in it, a flavor that you can only get here at Takayasu. I love it! This time, I even got some to take home so I can enjoy it at home. If you call ahead to order for takeout, it seems like there's no waiting time.

One of the most popular ramen shops in the Ramen Street of Ichijoji in Kyoto, competing for the top spots on the Tabelog's list of top 100 restaurants. There is always a line of about 10 people, but the spacious interior allows for good turnover, so the wait doesn't feel too long. The walls are lined with the faces of the long-standing top 100 restaurants. I had the Chuka Soba (890 yen) with a special seasoned egg (130 yen). The soup is a typical creamy tonkotsu broth, but with an elegant taste. The medium-thick straight noodles have a great balance of wheat flavor. What's impressive here is how kid-friendly it is. It's strange to see so many preschoolers and elementary school kids enjoying tonkotsu ramen. But then I realized they have a children's menu, child-friendly seating, and the presence of another popular menu item, the fried chicken. They also have plenty of family-friendly set menus. The spicy garlic and sesame on the table are quite hot, adding a lot of flavor. However, the fried chicken and rice sets keep coming out, and all the kids seem so lively and fun. The ramen shops in Ichijoji always have such friendly service. This place is truly a top-notch establishment! Thank you for the meal!

Ordered the tendon ramen and fried chicken set. It was a two-person set, so rice was included for free, which was a great deal. The ramen was delicious, with the tendon being particularly good. The fried chicken was tasty, but the portion was quite large, so one piece per person would have been enough.

I had a rare incident where the straps of my sandals came off on both feet. I debated whether to go buy new shoes first, but I wanted to arrive before the store opened, so I tied one foot with a strap and dragged the other foot to arrive 15 minutes before opening. I was able to sit on a chair with the first 5 people who arrived. 10 minutes before opening, they let us in the cool store. Thankful for that. Afterwards, more people lined up, so it was worth coming early with one foot dragging. I ordered the great value set for two people, which includes 5 items. I chose the Chinese soba and suji ramen. It also comes with 5 pieces of karaage, rice, and pickles. - Chinese Soba: The creamy pork and chicken soup is delicious! Adding negi and sesame halfway through changes the flavor nicely. They go really well together. - Suji Ramen: Despite having the same base as the Chinese soba, the addition of suji adds a sweet and savory richness, making it a completely different dish. It's incredibly delicious! There's a generous amount of suji, which is great. - Karaage: Huge pieces, freshly fried! Absolutely delicious. I got full after eating some rice, so I took 2 pieces home. They provide a bag for takeout. A top-notch meal worth the effort! Thank you for the feast.

I moved from Nara to Kyoto and visited this restaurant. I arrived around 3pm as they are open all day. Luckily, there were two parking spots available at the small parking lot. There are also coin parking lots around the area. Since I had eaten recently, I had to pass on the fried chicken and ordered the limited edition Suji ramen instead. During lunchtime, they said rice was free, but I asked for a small portion of rice. The soup had a slight sweetness, probably due to the Suji. The noodles were delicious, thin and with a low water content. The Suji toppings were soft and plentiful. The bamboo shoots were a bit salty. I added some sesame chili oil halfway through, which added a nice kick. However, be careful not to add too much as it can get quite spicy. Eating the soup and Suji on rice was amazing!

I visited a ramen shop in Ichijoji, Kyoto. The soup was creamy and rich, made from slowly simmered chicken and pork. The noodles were firm with a nice wheat aroma, and the char siu was tender and flavorful. The shop is known for their fried chicken, which many people were ordering. I got my ramen to go and enjoyed it. The lunchtime special includes free rice with different size options. Overall, it was delicious.

On the way back from an expedition to Shiga, I visited this ramen shop that stays open until late at night. I arrived at 11 pm. The parking lot is a bit of a walk away and the spaces are narrow, so be careful. Luckily, a nearby shop owner told me I could park further back. The shop is spacious and the quirky staff provided great service. The ramen was delicious and perfect for a late-night craving. You can also add spice for extra flavor. I definitely want to come back again.

I have visited this place about 4 times. Every time I come to Ichijoji, I can't help but enter this place because I crave for curry-flavored tender fried chicken. I always go for the easy and affordable 2-person set for 2650 yen. You can also have unlimited rice, which is a great deal! The interior has a casual atmosphere with a counter and round tables, and it seems like many people come here alone. It feels safe for women dining alone too!
