I went to this restaurant that I had been curious about after hearing that they serve seasonal limited Coppe crab. The place looks like a garage of a wood shop, with standing tables lined up. Since reservations were not accepted and it was a Saturday, I lined up at 5:00 pm, one hour before opening. There were already 4 people ahead of us in line, and only our group of 3 was allowed inside. Phew! Inside, there were about 7 to 8 counter standing seats, and outside there were tables made of stacked containers. I later found out that customers who couldn't get a seat outside were asked to leave because it would take a while for their turn to come around again. First, we ordered the Coppe crab we were looking forward to. It seemed like only one order per group was allowed, and we were told that if there were leftovers, they would call us again for more, but in the end, we were only able to order one for the three of us. We had to leave one-third of it uneaten, so we only got to eat a little bit, haha. Mixing all the crab meat together made it even more delicious, and it was heavenly when paired with sake. Finally, we had it turned into fried rice, and it was so delicious that we were glad we had saved some! We also tried the yellowtail tataki, grilled Shirako (fish milt), tofu hot pot, ginkgo nuts, potato salad, and more. The yellowtail tataki was lightly seared over charcoal outside. It was so rich and tasty. I highly recommend it. The grilled Shirako was also amazing. When eaten with roasted kelp, happiness spread smoothly in my mouth. Sake kept flowing. Haha. All the other dishes were delicious too, making it a perfect selection of appetizers. The owner was friendly and even joined in on our conversation at times. It seemed like a tough job for the three of them to handle everything in the small kitchen, so it's best to place your order all at once in the beginning. It was not just a standing bar experience, but a truly happy time. I would love to go back again.
