One of the purposes of my trip to Kyoto was to visit this restaurant, so I was looking forward to it. When I arrived, I barely made it in and had to wait quite a while (´°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥ω°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥`). After waiting for a little over 30 minutes, I was finally seated. It seemed like they were short-staffed that day, which was causing delays. The restaurant has counter seating, individual tables, and table seating in the back room. I was seated at a small counter table in the back. I ordered the special selection Keema spinach curry made with long-matured chicken, as well as the Oyster curry from Aioi, and the Squid ink duck Keema curry. All the curries had a rich and flavorful taste. The spinach curry was not too green, and the chicken Keema had a nice texture. The Oyster curry had plump oysters and a rich curry flavor. My favorite was the Squid ink duck Keema with a hint of squid ink added. Since it was my first visit, I wasn't sure which curry to choose, but it seemed like the menu changes daily. There were many single-item menus posted near the entrance, so it seems like a place where you can enjoy drinking and snacking in the evening (๑・̑◡・̑๑). It's no wonder there's always a line at this restaurant. Thank you for the delicious meal (╹◡╹)♡

I ordered the special Keema curry with spinach, the summer eggplant and zucchini curry from Momotonton, and the mini squid ink and sea bream curry (1800 yen). I was impressed from the first bite. Each dish was full of originality and overall very satisfying. The dishes were plentiful and the presentation of the tableware and the decor of the restaurant were artistic. The owner was lively and lovely.

Set meal, large portion, Tandoori Chicken for 2350 yen. I felt like having curry and walked 10 minutes from Nijo Station. There was a line of 10 people ahead of me, and it took 40 minutes to get inside the restaurant. Surprisingly, the restaurant was spacious with a tatami seating area in the back. I arrived in about 10 minutes. I started with a lightly fried eggplant and zucchini dish. It was delicious, with a nice level of spiciness that was refreshing. I kept eating eagerly. Many female-run restaurants tend to hold back on the spiciness, but this one had a delicate balance and satisfying level of heat. Next, I tried the chicken keema and spinach curry, which had a mild and gentle flavor with minimal earthiness. Finally, I had the squid ink and sea bream curry. It was so shocking that I exclaimed, "What is this?" It felt like a curry version of dipping noodles, with a rich seafood aroma and the tender texture of sea bream that matched perfectly with the curry. It was an outstanding curry. The Tandoori Chicken was incredibly juicy. Every Tandoori Chicken I've had before was dry and tough, but this one was delicious even as a curry-flavored fried chicken. It goes perfectly with the curry. I will probably come back again.

During a regular weekday afternoon, I happened to be walking around the area and stumbled upon a shop with a long line. It turned out to be this restaurant. I felt drawn to join the line and was able to enter in just a few minutes. The curry was delicious, and they also had their own original beer, making it a wonderful lunchtime drink. The staff were friendly and made the experience very pleasant.

It's common to wait for over an hour at this popular restaurant, but when I went on a weekday after 12 pm, I was able to get in right away. My prediction that you don't have to wait in line on hot days was spot on. I ordered the B Curry (3 kinds + bonus) for ¥1800. The chicken keema spinach curry had a good balance with creamy spinach and well-spiced chicken. It's not too spicy, so even those who don't like spicy food can enjoy it. The Tanba wild boar curry was the spiciest among the three, but it had a nice sweetness and umami, with tender chunks of meat. The squid ink duck keema was slightly oily compared to the others, but it was my favorite in terms of taste. The bonus dish of chicken and vegetables stewed together was also delicious. This might just be the number one curry in Kyoto! ^^

【2022 Curry Top 100】Located in a residential area about a 7-minute walk from Nijo Station in Kyoto, our restaurant started with business catering curry and has now become a super famous curry restaurant in Kyoto. Our curry is known for its artistic appearance and delicious taste that is easy to eat. We also offer original beers that pair well with curry, creating an artistic and carefully coordinated atmosphere in the restaurant. On this day, I arrived at the location around 10:10 on Saturday, but in reality, people started lining up around 10:30. The staff kindly approached us and said, "I'm sorry for making you wait early," which was much appreciated. This kind of consideration is also appreciated! Now, my order was as follows: [Special Keema Spinach Curry & Boar Curry 1800 yen], [Angel Shrimp 300 yen], [Beer 800 yen]. The presentation was truly artistic as rumored! Both the spinach curry and boar curry were easy to eat and delicious for anyone. They mentioned that the curry was slightly spicy, but it wasn't too spicy, making it even easier to eat. This was truly a wonderful curry that made waiting in line a pleasant experience. It was delicious. Thank you. I will definitely come back. ⭐️

I did it. The price was 2500 yen, but it was worth it. The flavor of the spices is outstanding. There are four types of curry plus braised pork. All of them are delicious. It's not just a spicy curry, but a curry full of the umami of the ingredients. Delicious.

The taste is satisfying. The cost performance and waiting time are just a little lacking. The turnover rate is low, and it takes quite a long time even after entering the store. The cost is quite high for curry, at 1900 yen. However, the taste is excellent. The squid ink was particularly good. The spinach was mediocre. Other items also left a high-level impression.

On this trip to revisit and reevaluate the restaurants visited during the "Curry Journey", I visited this place last among the three I wanted to revisit in Kyoto. I have tried many curry restaurants, but none of them remind me of the unique experience at "Morin Shokudo". It truly stands out as one of a kind. See the photos below.

I finally tried this place after 4 years, and the timing was off as usual (lol). The authentic curry was delicious! I had the Saga Lotus Root Keema Curry and the Iwate Sea Bream Curry with Leek and Squid Ink, served with a side of chili oil. I also added Angel Shrimp Tempura on top. So tasty. The Wild Boar Curry that had a hint of gamey flavor was also delicious. Overall, all the curries were well-prepared.

"Kyoto Nijo Station 'Morin Shokudo' is a popular restaurant known for its unique and flavorful spice curry. Located a 7-8 minute walk from Nijo Station, this spice curry specialty shop is always crowded, likely due to its limited opening days. During my visit for lunch, I arrived 35 minutes early on a Saturday and there were already two groups waiting ahead of me. I ordered the 'Special Keema Spinach Curry' and the 'Duck and Sea Bream Umami Curry' with a side of wild boar curry. The curry was spicy but not overly hot, with a nice balance of spices and a clean flavor that allowed the ingredients to shine. I also enjoyed their original craft beer 'Morin Dub ALE'. Overall, it was a delicious meal. Thank you!"

I lined up in front of the long-awaited Forest Cafe before it opened. The curry with a hint of spices was not too spicy, making it a delightful first-time experience. The vegetables were delicious as well, providing a refreshing and energizing curry. Thank you for a wonderful moment. It was a delicious meal!

A curry restaurant located about a 7-minute walk from Nijo Station, known for being listed in "Curry Hyakumeiten 2017, 2018, 2022" and "Curry Hyakumeiten WEST 2019, 2020". Their specialty is the "Special Keema Spinach Curry" and "Squid Ink Duck Keema Curry" available for ¥1,800 (tax included) as a combination dish.

First visit to one of the most famous restaurants in the Kansai area. Arrived nearly 30 minutes before opening, but there was already a line and gave up on getting in on the first round. As expected, couldn't get in on the first round and had to wait quite a bit before entering. Ordered the last oyster curry and keema curry. Arrived in just over 10 minutes. The curry is made with great attention to ingredients and skillfully uses spices. It is a curry with a very high level of completion, including its appearance. I understood why so many people praise it. However, it took about 1.5 to 2 hours until leaving, so be prepared for a long wait if you go to eat there.

Visited on Saturday afternoon, the first day of Golden Week. Started lining up around 12:10 with about 10 people ahead, entered the restaurant about 1.5 hours later. Ordered the combined dish of squid ink duck keema curry and Aioi oyster curry, with a side of wild boar curry with oyster sauté and bamboo shoot sauté toppings. The curry looked vibrant and colorful. Started with the oyster curry from Aioi, and the flavor of the oysters was so delicious it made me tremble. Adding more oysters was definitely the right choice. With the oyster-infused curry, it couldn't taste bad. The squid ink and duck keema curry had a wonderful richness and depth of flavor. The squid used was Japanese flying squid, and there was a bit of meat in it. The curry is not very spicy. The rice was mixed grain and the portion was on the smaller side. For big eaters, it might be a bit lacking, but the curry was so delicious that it was totally fine even without much rice. I would love to have some alcohol with this. As always, crushed the papadum and sprinkled it on top. Thank you for the meal. The total bill was 2500 yen. The price and wait time were not a concern given the satisfying deliciousness. An inspiring dish.

Arrived at 11:30 on Friday afternoon. Waited in line for about 5 people for 1 hour before entering. The menu had three main dishes with about five toppings. Chose bamboo shoot curry and oyster curry with braised pork as topping. The curry was delicious, and the bamboo shoots and oysters were also very tasty. It's hard to tell from the photos, but there was also a squid ink keema curry, which was incredibly delicious! The restaurant had seating for about 10 to 15 people on the first floor. The hospitality of the staff was excellent, and the meticulous cooking was impressive. Will definitely visit again.

I recommend the bamboo shoot keema and oyster. It was a weekday so they didn't have the all toppings available, which was disappointing. However, I added bamboo shoots, oysters, and shrimp as toppings and was very satisfied. But adding toppings made it cost 2900 yen. It was delicious, but in terms of cost performance, it might not be the best. Still, I recommend it because the oysters and shrimp are delicious.

Arrived around 11:45. It was a weekday, so there was only one person in line, lucky! I entered right at 12:00 when they opened, I was prepared to wait so I was really lucky. The menu was quite limited due to an event at Hanshin. Only options were bamboo shoot and oyster keema, with squid topping. However, the friendliness of the female owner was wonderful, making it easy for even a solo female diner. They were also accommodating to my partner who couldn't eat oysters. The taste, needless to say, was delicious. It's not just about the appearance, there is greatness there. A must-visit for curry lovers!
