~Kyoto Trip ④ in 2023~
On September XX, 2023 (Lunch), we planned to visit Heian Shrine, so we decided to have lunch nearby. It's a pizzeria, so it may not have the traditional Kyoto feel, but it was a restaurant we had bookmarked as a lunch option when we visited Higashiyama last time. We made a reservation by phone a month in advance and visited the restaurant. The place is casual and cozy. There are not many table seats, but since we made an early reservation, we were able to secure a table at the back. The following is what three of us shared.
(Food)
- Margherita D.O.C @2,530 yen
- 4 Cheese Pizza @2,100 yen
- Toyama White Shrimp Fritto @1,100 yen
(Drink)
- Valdenchetta @550 yen
The pizza was delicious just as we had expected. Personally, I felt that the Quattro Formaggi was of higher quality than the Margherita. The appetizer of white shrimp fritto was fragrant and had a strong umami flavor of the shrimp, which was really delicious. I saw some reviews mentioning issues with the service, but the service we received was very polite. The serving time for the dishes was slightly delayed, but... Also, it seemed like the reservations were fully booked, so I think making a reservation is essential. If you want to enjoy delicious pizza in Kyoto, this is a recommended restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

On a regular day at 12:30, I visited this restaurant that I had made a reservation for almost a month in advance. The place was bustling with many ladies inside. There were about 4 tables - 2-person, two 4-person, and a 6-person table. They accept credit cards and the food was served quickly. Although not listed on the menu, you can order half & half pizzas. Some menu items include Margherita D.O.C. for ¥2530 (popular choice), Shinshu salmon marinated for ¥1320 (changes daily), Sakura shrimp and kettle-boiled whitebait marinara for ¥1980, and Genovese Neapolitana for ¥2420 (changes daily). The prices for the pizzas will vary if you order them half & half. They also offer Sicilian red orange juice for ¥550. Overall, it was a satisfying and delicious dining experience. I highly recommend making a reservation in advance.

I visited the restaurant around 11:45 on Friday without a reservation. There was a sign on the door saying it was full from 12 o'clock...but when I was about to leave, a staff member came out and said they could seat me at 12:45 if that was okay. I ordered Margherita and Signora. The Margherita was delicious as always, with a great chewy cheese. The Signora had a unique flavor with meat sauce, smoked buffalo mozzarella, ricotta, and basil. It was a taste I had never experienced before and it was absolutely delicious. The meat sauce was so tasty, and the smoky cheese made me want to drink alcohol. The pizza dough was also tasty and I was full, but it was really delicious! For two people, it seems like ordering an appetizer, one pizza, and dessert would be good! The warm staff and amazing food made me happy. I want to make a reservation next time and try other items on the menu!

I made a reservation around noon on a weekday and visited the restaurant. The place was almost full. I ordered the Margherita pizza. It had a simple flavor and was delicious. It seems like even on weekdays, the seats fill up quickly, so it might be safer to make a reservation. I would like to try a different flavor next time.

I made a reservation for my first visit to "Da Yuki" on a Saturday at 12:00 in July 2023. This restaurant is a popular pizza place in Kyoto, selected for the Michelin Kyoto Bib Gourmand and the Top 100 Pizzerias on Tabelog. There were many customers waiting outside before opening, most of them with reservations, as it is a popular spot. I sat at a table in the back, looked at the menu, and ordered the following:
- Antoniana: 800 yen, a true Neapolitan Pizza Association certified official beer
- Shinshu Salmon Marinated Tartare: 1,320 yen
- Pizza Half & Half: Price unknown
1. Margherita D.O.C: 2,530 yen
2. Quattro Formaggi: 2,100 yen
- Honey: Price unknown
I started with the Antoniana beer, which was very easy to drink. Then the Shinshu Salmon Marinated Tartare arrived, and I enjoyed a lunch drink. The marinated salmon was delicious! When we finished eating that, the Pizza Half & Half arrived. It was larger than I expected, about 30cm in diameter. The thin crust made it easy to eat, and the quality of the pizza, including the baking, was excellent. I had a delicious and satisfying meal for lunch. Thank you for the meal!

After learning about the deliciousness of sashimi at Udon Endo, I was still hungry and decided to visit this pizza restaurant. In addition to pizza, they have a variety of interesting menu options, making it a restaurant with many options. The Diavola pizza (1800 yen) was the winner.

Great atmosphere. Great value for money. Good portion size and satisfying. Delicious food and a nice ambiance, had a good time. If in Kyoto, I recommend Dayuuki or Enboka. The salad was tasty too, had a satisfying experience. Wine and pizza go really well together, just be careful not to drink too much wine. ⚠️

Napoli pizza restaurant. They don't serve pasta or risotto. You need to make a reservation to get in. Even for lunch, people who made a reservation before opening are already lined up and it's full. So, you should make a reservation. You can order half and half, so if you want to try different types, you should go for half and half. For the Quattro Formaggi, it's worth paying extra to add honey.

With tourists returning, reservations are essential on weekends. The restaurant is full as soon as it opens. With a wide variety of dishes, it's hard to choose, but the staff are helpful during busy times. Caprese 1650 yen, Salad 1100 yen, Pizza: Margherita D.O.C 2100 yen, Pizza: Gorgonzola and Ham 2100 yen, Bistecca 4897 yen, Ginger Ale 350 yen. Splitting the bill among 4 people, it's around 3400 yen. The pizza is baked in a kiln, giving it a crispy and fluffy texture. -Margherita D.O.C: Tomato sauce, basil, buffalo mozzarella, Parmigiano. Looks delicious and tastes great with just the right amount of salt and cheese flavor. -Gorgonzola and Ham: Gorgonzola, mozzarella, prosciutto cotto, cream, pepper. Smells amazing with a sweet blue cheese flavor. Easy to eat despite the cream. Bistecca: Mustard with grains is excellent. Goes well with mushrooms. Firm texture with lean meat.

I am at a famous pizza place near Heian Shrine. This place is not only famous, but also considered the best in Kyoto. The prices are very reasonable and budget-friendly! I ordered the Margherita and prosciutto pizza, which had plenty of cheese and was delicious! This is definitely a place I want to visit again.

I made a reservation and went to the restaurant. You can't enter without a reservation. The service aspect that caught my attention last time was the very pleasant customer service from the staff, which almost completely dispelled the bad impression! The restaurant opens at 6:00 PM in the evening, and on this day I had a reservation for 6:00 PM and was waiting outside the restaurant, it was cold because of the wind. They won't open the restaurant until exactly 6:00 PM, so I remember constantly looking at the clock... The restaurant is small and the table spacing is narrow, but there are vinyl partitions between the neighboring table seats, so surprisingly the soundproofing effect was high. You can make a reservation by phone or internet, but if you want a table seat, early reservation is essential. We were able to bring in the stroller with the reservation. In fact, I mentioned that I wanted to bring in the stroller at the time of reservation, so I was guided to a seat where I could bring it in. I ordered the following: White Bismarck, Margherita, Pizza Vongole, White Clam Genovese-style, and Tripe Tomato Stew with Parmigiano. The taste was really delicious for all of them! Not only the pizza, but also the a la carte menu is delicious, which is a wonderful point. There were many options for both pizza and other dishes in the "Today's Menu," so I was quite indecisive. I will go again soon♪

To Mr. Da Yuuki,
I visited the restaurant with a reservation for two at 14:00 on Saturday. Even though we arrived a little early, we were seated promptly. We ordered a Margherita pizza for 1,650 yen and a Quattro Formaggi pizza for 2,100 yen with an additional honey topping for 220 yen.
At 14:03, the Margherita pizza arrived. It was larger than expected, and it was the first thing we ordered at a new pizza place. It had a generous amount of cheese and a good amount of salt, making it very satisfying to eat. It cools down quite quickly, so it's best to eat the third slice of the six slices while it's still warm.
At 14:19, the Quattro Formaggi pizza arrived. Just as we finished the first slice, the kitchen called out and it was brought to us at a good timing. It was loaded with cheese, and despite looking less salty, it was actually quite mild. We wondered if they had honey, and when we asked the staff, they said it was available for 220 yen. We decided to add it, and the difference with and without honey was significant, adding a whole new level of flavor. My cheese-loving daughter was beaming with joy. The seating was separated by curtains, so we could eat in peace without others in our line of sight. The staff was attentive and kept refilling our water regularly. It was a very nice restaurant. We will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.

I visited a pizza restaurant suddenly and the atmosphere was nice, with friendly staff. The menu was a bit hard to read, but the pizza was amazing! The crust was delicious, and the pizza was really good. Before the pizza was ready, I had marinated sardines and white shrimp fritters, which were also very tasty.

After visiting the Andy Warhol exhibition, we had lunch at this restaurant we stumbled upon on our way from Sanjo. The place had a cozy, dimly lit, hideaway vibe with small tables separated by white curtains, which created a pleasant atmosphere. The salad and pizzas were both delicious and generous in portion size. The salad included salami, spicy salami, and prosciutto with fresh vegetables and tasty dressing. We tried the truffle and prosciutto Bismarck pizza, as well as the fig and gorgonzola with honey pizza, both of which were incredibly tasty. The combination of flavors in the gorgonzola, honey, fig, basil, and pepper pizza was particularly impressive. The staff were all friendly and welcoming, leaving us with a great impression. We would love to go back to try their desserts!

"Authentic Neapolitan pizza baked in a wood-fired oven" is written at the top of the homepage. This time, we chose this restaurant because it was close to our accommodation. Bon Papa, I had pizza for the first time in Kyoto. The crust was crispy and chewy. It is indeed delicious dough. And the pizza is delicious. However, it didn't give off a Kyoto vibe, it felt like delicious pizza that could be found anywhere. It is located just a short walk from Heian Shrine in a quiet neighborhood. The brick oven and firewood visible through the large glass windows serve as the shop's landmark. The restaurant is small with about four tables for four people each. It has a typical appearance that could be found anywhere. The staff, service, and overall atmosphere were all ordinary. The menu is extensive, with regular items and daily recommendations. I tried several recommended dishes. It was a family visit, and each dish was quite substantial. I wanted to try more, but unfortunately, I couldn't. It is truly a popular restaurant in Kyoto. While it may not have a distinct Kyoto charm, all the dishes are much tastier compared to typical pizza places. This might be the "difference in food level" with Kyoto. The truffle bruschetta with a generous amount of truffle was particularly surprising. The dish with squid and potatoes had a "Japanese" feel and was quite good. The main pizza had the aforementioned crust and rich cheese. It might not be suitable for those who are not fond of dairy products. I wanted to try Margherita as well, but I was too full. This concludes my first pizza experience in Kyoto, a mix of Japanese and Western delicious dishes paired with suitable drinks. Indeed, the restaurant lived up to its good reputation. It might not be worth traveling from outside the prefecture specifically for this restaurant, but it is a place I would like to visit again when nearby. If you have the chance, I recommend visiting this restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

Visited "Da Yuuki," a popular Naples-style pizza specialty shop in Kyoto. Tried the Margherita D.O.C x 4 Cheese Pizza (¥2200) with the option for half and half, which is great. The Margherita D.O.C, their most popular pizza, is a must-try. It is exemplary, with fresh tomato sauce and smooth mozzarella. The 4 cheese pizza is enjoyable with the distinct taste of Gorgonzola. The absence of cheddar cheese allows the mozzarella and cream cheese to shine. The crust is relatively thin, although I personally prefer it thicker and more elastic, but it was still good. It was delicious. Next time, I will try ordering a side dish as well.

Why don't we definitely try the half-and-half option? By the way, both pizzas were delicious. Margherita and another one... I forgot, sorry. Also, we had salad. The salad was good, but well, just average I guess. Anyway, the pizzas were delicious.

About a 5-minute walk from Higashiyama Station in Kyoto! This pizzeria is the most famous in Kyoto and reservations are hard to come by. The menu changes with the seasons, including the daily pizza specials. The appetizers seem a bit pricey. They used to have lunch sets, but now it seems to be only a la carte. The pizza is still delicious as ever.
