I had some business to attend to in Osaka and since I hadn't been around Kyobashi for about a year, I decided to take revenge on Instagram when I found out that Momopafe had started. I had to go eat it! I will be going to Osaka Castle Hall on the weekend, so I will aim for this timing. Currently (during the peach season and popular items), there are two reservation methods available: 1. Make a reservation on the Torque Hen website 2. Register at the store on the day of (from around 9:00 am) I decided to challenge the website reservation this time. 1. Reservations start at 8:00 pm on the Monday one week before the desired date. 2. Select the date and time (about 1-hour slots) and the number of people (1-4 people). It's a reservation for seats only. This completes the reservation. There are about 10 groups of reservations, so it's quite competitive. In my case, the reservations were full at 8:08 pm (it was 8:05 pm the following week). Registering at the store involves writing your name, number of people, etc. at the entrance of the store. This method has a higher chance of success as there are more reservation slots available. The location for the peach season is such that the parfait never sells out until the final time. However, it's better to go early to be safe. I reserved the time slot from 11:30 to 12:30 and entered the store right on time. The seats were already full, but takeout was possible. I ordered the long-awaited premium selection and an iced coffee. I sat at my table and waited eagerly. Momopafes were being served one after the other. It seems everyone orders the same thing. Finally, my Momopafe arrived. Overwhelming peach! The three layers on top of the parfait dish were impressive. I carefully rescued the peach with gloves. The peach was filled with custard cream, fromage cream, and pistachio cream. I first tried the peach on its own. It was juicy, soft, perfectly ripe, with an elegant sweetness, a hint of acidity, and a refreshing aftertaste. The pistachio cream had a strong pistachio flavor, which combined perfectly with the peach. The fromage cream had a cheese-like acidity, making it the lightest of all. It paired well with the peach. The custard cream was sweet and went perfectly with the peach's aroma. Under all the peaches, there was a maple-flavored chiffon acting as a lid. It was a nice touch. I then proceeded to eat the rest of the parfait, which included peach sherbet, maple nut ice cream, vanilla ice cream, cut peaches, and jelly. Each component was delicious, with a perfect balance of flavors and textures. I ended up feeling quite full after finishing the whole peach-filled feast. It was truly a well-deserved treat. The restaurant is often featured on TV and in magazines, so I have a feeling it will continue to be a popular spot. I can't wait to try other fruit parfaits there! I will be back! On a side note, on July 8th and 9th, I will be attending Nana Mizuki's live concert at Osaka Castle Hall.
