Yamamoto Coffee Shop in Shin-Umeda Food Street. There are two branches in Umeda, and they also have locations in Kyoto and Nara, dominating the major cities in the Kansai region. Surprisingly, I had never checked this place out before. Umeda area is quite something. This time, I got off the budget-friendly express bus and had to search quite a bit to find the place because it was at a different location from Hankyu Umeda. I have been to Osaka many times, but there is still a lot I don't know about the Umeda area. Finally, I arrived at this place on a Saturday at 7:30 in the morning, and there were many customers already there. Yamamoto Coffee Shop used to deliver coffee beans by bicycle and motorcycle to not only Osaka but also Kobe and Minami Awaji after the import of coffee beans was allowed post-war. They still focus on operating in the Kansai region without expanding to other areas. It's great that they have long opening hours, especially in Umeda. I came here for their breakfast menu, of course. They have a default and a daily special, and on this day, the menu was different, but the staff recommended the sandwich. So, I ordered that. It cost 650 yen. It's a shame that smoking is allowed inside, but there are many smoking-friendly places in Osaka. I think the aroma of coffee is important, and for some reason... oh well. The interior of the shop has a lot of antiques and a calm atmosphere. It's a great old-fashioned coffee shop! The coffee arrived quickly - it seemed to be a blend, probably Mandheling-based, with a balanced mix of acidity and bitterness, creating a rich flavor. Delicious. Soon after, the plate arrived - boiled egg, salad, and fruit, just like the default menu. The salad was mainly shredded cabbage with thinly sliced tomatoes and corn, dressed with a Japanese-style dressing. Despite its small size, you can tell they want customers to enjoy it. The fruit was kiwi, which was a nice touch. The sandwich was a mix of ham, tomato, and sunny lettuce. The tomato slices were incredibly thin, which was impressive. The boiled egg was hard-boiled. And the YC special pudding for 420 yen - served with whipped cream and a cherry. The presentation and taste were perfect for this place. A classic recipe with a rich flavor from the whipped cream. I would definitely like to visit again. Thank you for the meal!!
