Ramen Spinach Nori Extra Rice Medium [Murakura] @ Hirano Miyakitamachi, Kita-ku, Kyoto City. Murakura was established in 2007. Until March 2011, it operated in Sakyo-ku in the same prefecture. However, due to the constant long lines caused by its popularity, as well as frequent issues with cars parking illegally and lack of manners, the shop had to close. In October of the same year, it reopened in Kita-ku, and even now, it remains extremely popular with lines forming just like before, establishing itself as a renowned shop that introduced Yokohama-style ramen to Kyoto, and even the Kansai region. The owner of "Kuramae-ya" is from Hamamatsu and has inherited the roots of a prestigious ramen family, but has made improvements to suit the taste of Kansai people, with a particular emphasis on not discussing the family background. I visited the shop for the first time in 6 years since its relocation, out of curiosity about the changes after it was listed as a group shop on the Oudouya website. The soup is based on pork bone, with a solid soy sauce flavor combined with chicken oil. It has a mild taste without saltiness, and a rich umami from animal-derived broth, making it a smooth and easy-to-drink pork bone soy sauce soup. This tasted just as delicious as before. The noodles, carefully picked up with a V-shaped strainer by the owner, are hand-kneaded, slightly wavy, flat, medium-thick noodles. The wheat aroma is faint, with a smooth noodle surface, chewy elasticity, and a short noodle line, which is a characteristic of the family style. The popular dish is the Chashu Ramen. They provide it in a separate container to ensure the soup doesn't cool down. The Chashu is quite thick and large, with a light seasoning, and three slices provide a satisfying meal. Another characteristic is the increased amount of spinach, which comes in tennis ball-sized pieces, and the toppings have unique features. They also offer barley rice, which is very delicious, especially when soaked in the soup with seaweed and Chashu, making you want to have multiple servings. Just like before the relocation, they are paying close attention to not causing inconvenience to the local residents, so customers lining up should listen carefully to the instructions from the shop and cooperate to prevent similar issues from happening again. I visited during off-peak hours and was seated without waiting. I ordered the Ramen Large for 1000 yen, with an additional 100 yen for extra rice and 50 yen for extra seaweed. I requested the broth to be rich, noodles to be firm, and portion to be generous. The meat was thick and satisfying, with plenty of oil. I enjoyed the authentic taste of the house-style ramen, it was delicious.

On a regular day at 17:45, I was the first in line. I was told to line up over by the shrine next door while waiting outside the restaurant. I got bitten by a mosquito while waiting. The ramen I ordered was the "Ramen Regular" with firm noodles, but I forgot the price. There were two staff members and the owner working. The ramen was ready in about 5 minutes. The soup had a slightly sharp soy sauce flavor at first, but it wasn't too strong and had a mellow pork bone taste. The noodles were from Sakai Seimen and were consistent and good. The ramen seemed to be an adaptation of the traditional Kyoto style ramen for the Kansai region. Overall, it was tasty, but not exactly like the typical family-style ramen. It was lighter and more subtle. It might be worth adding table condiments or bowl menu options like other family-style ramen places to attract more customers.

Murasakura-san had heard about the best house-style ramen in Kyoto and was curious to try it. It is said to be a famous shop in the Kanto region with a traditional family recipe. The visit was made after praying for success at Kitano Tenmangu Shrine. Upon arrival at 10:50, there was already a line forming a bit away from the shop. I joined the line with 5 other people. The shop opened at around 10:55 and quickly filled up. It's truly a popular spot! There were also foreign customers. I ordered the ramen for 900 yen and a large serving of rice for an additional 100 yen. The rice comes in large, medium, and small sizes for the same price. There was no option for chashu ramen. As for the taste, the soup had a strong soy sauce flavor with a good punch, but also a balanced taste of pork bone and chicken for a mildness. It was incredibly delicious. The noodles were made by Sakai Seimen and had a nice firmness. The standout was the large piece of chashu, well seasoned and juicy, it paired perfectly with the rice. This was truly a delicious house-style ramen. It must be the best in Kyoto! I was very satisfied. Thank you for the meal!

Great expectations for the lineage of a certain family. A thick slice of chashu sits boldly on top. The rich pork bone and soy sauce broth is deeply satisfying. The classic spinach and nori toppings accompany the noodles, which disappear in no time. Is this the pinnacle of Kyoto's family-style ramen?

I visited the restaurant around noon on a regular day and waited for about 5 minutes before being seated. I ordered the mini ramen (800 yen). I chose normal for the soy sauce intensity, oil amount, and noodle doneness. It took a bit of time for the food to be served. The soup was on the saltier side and not piping hot, more on the lukewarm side. The chashu was large in size and had a good thickness, but it was tender and easily fell apart. However, it also felt a bit too salty. There were 3 staff members, all of whom were friendly and pleasant.

The combination of pork fat, noodles, and broth is fantastic and incredibly delicious. I definitely want to go back. Thank you for the meal. I am grateful for all the ingredients in this world. I am calling for delicious food, the more I eat, the more power overflows.

I parked my car at a nearby coin parking and arrived at the restaurant around 8:30 pm. After waiting for about 15 minutes, I sat at the counter seat. I ordered "Ramen (regular)" for 900 yen, "Flavored Egg" for 100 yen, "Extra Seaweed" for 50 yen, and "Rice (medium)" for 100 yen using the food ticket machine. I asked for the ramen to be prepared with normal soy sauce intensity, normal amount of fat, and normal noodle firmness. The bowl was covered with eight large sheets of seaweed, revealing slices of chashu, flavored egg, and spinach. The pork bone soup was rich and flavorful with a strong saltiness from the chicken oil, yet it had a smoothness to it. Adding a little bit of raw garlic enhanced the depth of flavor. The noodles were flat and made by Sakai Seimen, providing a firm and chewy texture that paired well with the soup. The chashu was tender and thickly sliced, while the flavored egg had a semi-soft yolk and a well-seasoned taste. The rice served was not white rice but barley rice, and wrapping it in half of the seaweed soaked in soup created a delicious combination of crispy and chewy textures.

It had been about a year and a half since my last visit. I used to come here for lunch often, but this time I came for dinner due to my schedule. I ordered a regular ramen with rice set, and noticed that the partitions that used to be there were removed, making the counter more spacious. I was able to customize the flavor, so I ordered my ramen with extra soy sauce, extra oil, and firm noodles. It's great that they offer brown rice for the set. The taste goes really well with rice, which is a characteristic of this style of ramen, so I recommend ordering the set.

The owner's smile was impressive, but a couple of the staff members seemed inexperienced and could improve their customer service skills. The ramen had a generous portion of chashu which was very satisfying to eat. The soup was also very delicious.

After the consecutive holidays, I headed to "Raamen Kimura" on Monday, but today is Tuesday and it's their regular closing day... Disappointed, I searched nearby and found this highly rated place. I ordered the "Ramen (regular)" for 900 yen. It's a classic style ramen, so there are toppings and attention to detail, but I decided to go with the default option. The thick-cut pork shoulder chashu was tender and had a nice chewy texture. The classic spinach and three sheets of nori on top were a nice touch. The broth was a rich and creamy tonkotsu soy sauce base with chicken oil, a standard for this style of ramen. The soup was thick and had a velvety texture. I added some shichimi pepper and garlic halfway through, which enhanced the flavor even more. The noodles were thick, short, and chewy, a common feature of this style of ramen. The shop uses "Sakai Seimen" noodles, a popular choice for family-style ramen. I arrived just after 12 pm on a weekday and was able to sit down immediately. The back of the shop was a bit stuffy and hot, perhaps due to poor ventilation. The city was bustling with tourists, foreigners, and school trips preparing for the Gion Festival, which added to the lively atmosphere of Kyoto.

This ramen shop in Kansai was the best I've ever had! Arrived at 18:02 and there were about 7 people waiting outside, showing how popular it is. Waited for about 20-30 minutes before getting in. Ordered the regular ramen for 900 yen and an extra bowl of rice for 100 yen. They had many options for customizing the taste. The chashu pork slices were huge and incredibly tender. The rich pork bone soup paired perfectly with the firm noodles. Adding garlic made it even better. I definitely recommend getting the extra rice. If this shop was near my house, I'd be a regular customer for sure.笑〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜Check out my TikTok and Instagram accounts with over 53,000 followers!↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓https://instagram.com/ramen19960103?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y

Located in the Kansai region, this restaurant offers a top-notch taste of the Rokkaku family lineage, which is considered one of the best in the country. While part of the popular Oudo-ke group based in Kashiwa City, Chiba Prefecture, this establishment serves a distinct Rokkaku family style of ramen. The flavor is smooth and rich, standing out among the various family styles like Oudo-ke and its root, Yoshimura-ke. Personally, I am a fan of Rokkaku-ke and Honmoku-ke styles and have been exploring them for years, but I find the taste here to be one of the best in its lineage. This restaurant doesn't boast its family name, the table settings aren't in red, and there are no yellow plastic boards with instructions on how to eat the ramen. The condiments on the table are minimal. However, the flavor is authentic. The chashu is not smoked, and they use Sakai Seimen noodles, which sets them apart from the Oudo-ke style. The location doesn't attract many foreign tourists, mainly serving locals and students. This means the percentage of casual diners is low, and although the seating is limited, the turnover is good. It's amazing to find such a bowl of ramen in the Kansai region and to see it embraced by the local community. It shows how times are changing.

After work, I really wanted to eat, so I visited with my colleague. It was past 8:00 PM and the restaurant was full, but there was no one waiting. We purchased our tickets from the machine first and then waited. The ramen (regular) and rice (medium) were both excellent! The ramen was firm, rich, and had extra toppings. Noteworthy is that the rice was barley rice! I will definitely come back!

The first time a bird chick sees a protector, it recognizes them as its parent. Similarly, when I first encountered the creative and innovative family-style ramen during my university days, there is no other choice but Shizou, the ultimate and supreme ramen. It surpasses any other ramen I have tried in search of the best. This ramen, which focuses on the broth and seasoning, is elevated with a Kyoto touch. It is so good that I want to drink this soup every day, even if it means giving up miso soup. I wish they would erect a statue of the store manager at my university, giving everyone the right to taste Shizou equally. Quotes and praises are exchanged among friends, who are big fans of this place. If you're ever in need of lunch around the Golden Pavilion area, be sure to visit!

The home-style ramen was delicious, with the toppings, soup, and noodles all being excellent. They complemented each other perfectly. I love home-style ramen, and this was one of the best I've had. This place is definitely at the top when it comes to ramen. Once you try it here, you won't be able to go back to chain restaurants for home-style ramen.

Located near Kyoto's Heiwa Shrine, Shizou is a rare family-style ramen shop in Kyoto. I visited for lunch while waiting for my wife, who was having a health check-up. I arrived just before the opening time of 11 am and was the first customer. As I waited a bit further away, the shop opened a little early for me. I ordered the ramen (large serving) for 1000 yen. After opening, more customers started to arrive. Some even had tour guides with them. The shop owner trained at places like Kurae-ya in Hamamatsu before opening this shop. The soy sauce-based soup had a sharpness and richness without any unpleasant aftertaste, making it a delicious family-style ramen. The slightly wavy Sawai Seimen noodles were also tasty. The large slices of chashu were excellent. Overall, it was a very delicious family-style ramen. This is definitely a top-notch shop worth revisiting. This was my 112th bowl of ramen in 23 years.

Visited "Ramen Murakura" in Kita-ku, Kyoto. It is located about 650m north of Kitano Hakubaicho Station on the Keifuku Kitano Line. There is a coin parking nearby, costing around 100 yen for 20 minutes. It was a rainy Saturday evening around 9 pm with only 2 other customers in the restaurant, which has a straight counter with 12 seats. The shop specializes in ramen, and the staff provide a calm and welcoming service. I selected the "Ramen (regular)" for 900 yen from the simple ticket machine. You can customize the soy sauce intensity, oil amount, and noodle firmness to your liking. I requested firm noodles on this day. The condiments on the table included black pepper, shichimi pepper, white sesame, grated garlic, and vinegar. The broth had a mild saltiness, with a rich umami flavor and thick texture that was enjoyable without being overly salty. The flat noodles, typical of house-style ramen, were made by Sakai Seimen and had a wheaty flavor and chewy texture. The chashu was a tender pork shoulder loin with a natural, non-smoky flavor. Despite initially thinking 900 yen was expensive, the generous portion and thickness of the chashu justified the price. Other toppings included spinach, seaweed, and green onions, standard for house-style ramen. Thank you for the meal!

I used to frequent a nostalgic house ramen restaurant that opened in front of Chayama Station before it became popular. Now it has moved to in front of Hirano Shrine and has become a famous spot among Daito students, but the depth of flavor in the soup remains unchanged. I visited after a long time and was impressed by the gentle yet rich soup.

I finally went to "Murasaki," a place I've been wanting to visit for a while. They served classic dishes like cucumber pickles and doubanjiang without any additional seasonings, so I got to enjoy authentic home-style ramen. It was incredibly delicious and disappeared in an instant. If it was more accessible, I would definitely come back more often. Thank you for the meal!

We drove to a place in Kyoto where we were taken to a delicious house-made ramen restaurant. We parked at a nearby shrine's parking lot. Before entering the parking lot, we checked the line. One person was very excited (laughs). The staff explained to us about changing the soup and said it was okay to buy the meal ticket after the seat was ready, showing their customer-first policy. We ordered ramen with rice, and it was really delicious. Even though the portion was big, it didn't make us feel bloated. The rice was barley rice, which was a great combination. The uniform price for all sizes was actually quite impressive.
