I purchased the new product from Kinana recommended at a department store event, "Usual chocolate chunk cookies" with kinako and matcha flavors. It has a rich crispy texture with 100% butter dough and black soybean Rocher chocolate kneaded in. The kinako flavor consists of Tanba black soybean kinako dough + black soybean Rocher kinako, while the matcha flavor contains Uji matcha dough + black soybean Rocher matcha. There are also hojicha and chocolate flavors. It is a very large cookie with a crunchy texture like a galette, providing a satisfying eating experience. The cookie is delicious, showcasing the quality of the ingredients. It goes well with green tea, coffee, and anything else. It is individually packaged, and the long shelf life is also a plus.

I visited at 2:00 p.m. during Golden Week. After a short wait, I was seated at a table upstairs. They offer ice cream, parfaits, and seasonal shaved ice. I chose the parfait, which was topped with kinako ice cream and warabi mochi. It was quite filling, so be aware of that. The taste was delicious but didn't exceed my expectations, hence the rating. When I tried to leave before 3:00 p.m., there was a long line, so I recommend adjusting your timing. Thank you for the meal!

Strolling around famous restaurants at my own pace...♪*゚This is a place that I vowed to revisit after being moved when I had kinako (roasted soybean flour) in Kyoto before. The mysterious kinako here has a melting texture that makes it an irresistible sweet treat with each bite. The parfait allows you to enjoy various flavors of kinako as traditional Japanese sweets, making it a truly luxurious experience! My personal favorite flavor is yomogi (Japanese mugwort). It's also nice that warm tea is included in the set. Although there was a wait of about 6 people ahead of us on this day, we were able to be seated in about 30 minutes, so I don't think the turnover is bad. Definitely a must-visit for a break during sightseeing in Kyoto!

During the busy Golden Week, I went to Kyoto Kinana on Hanami Koji in Gion, which was filled with tourists. There were no tickets issued that day, so we had to line up inside the restaurant. The turnover was surprisingly fast, so the wait wasn't too long. The place was constantly busy, indicating its popularity. It was my first time at Kinana, and after much contemplation, I chose the parfait while my companion opted for shaved ice. The "Kinana Habon" for ¥1500 was a lavish parfait with chestnuts, shiratama, kinako ice cream, yomogi ice cream, sesame ice cream, sweet beans, warabi mochi, and Yatsuhashi, a truly Japanese parfait! Kinana's signature item, the Kinana ice cream, was featured in three different flavors in this luxurious parfait. Kinana ice cream is made with a consistent theme of "gentle and delicious," using carefully selected natural ingredients including Tanba black soybean kinako, without any chemical colorings, preservatives, or excessive fat. It is also egg-free, making it safe for those with egg allergies. Despite its gentle nature, the ice cream had a rich and distinct flavor, yet somehow light and very delicious. The shiratama was delightfully chewy, making it a parfait that would appeal to Japanese sweets lovers! The shaved ice my companion ordered was topped with black beans, which was a nice touch. With espuma, shiratama, and Kinana ice cream inside, it avoided the common problem of having no flavor towards the end of the shaved ice.

Located on the south side of Gion-machi in Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto City. An ice cream specialty shop with a theme of kinako (roasted soybean flour). It is a renowned shop selected as one of the top 100 sweets shops, with a dessert served in a bowl as its roots. The menu includes freshly made Kinana, Kinana Deluxe, Kinana Tiramisu, Kinana Haupon, Very Berry Kinana, and Kinana Italian. Next to the register, Kinana cookies, black bean biscotti, kinako jam, and kinako roll cake are sold. This time, I ordered the Kinana Haupon (1500 yen). Kinana Haupon features three types of ice cream: kinako, black sesame, and yomogi (mugwort), along with ingredients like Tanba Dainagon adzuki beans, shiratama (rice flour dumplings), yatsuhashi (cinnamon-flavored triangle mochi), chestnut kuri no shibukawa (simmered chestnuts), rice flour cookies, and warabi mochi (bracken-starch dumplings). The ice cream, made with high-quality ingredients, is truly exquisite. The kinako flavor is also delicious. Although the parfait is quite substantial, it is easy to devour. It comes with hojicha (roasted green tea), which is also delicious. The parfait and ice cream are on the pricier side, but they are definitely worth trying. Thank you for the meal.

Located in a quiet alley in Gion, this restaurant has a nice atmosphere. As it is a tourist area, the prices are generally on the higher side. I decided to try their handmade ice cream. While it was described as freshly made, I didn't find the taste particularly delicious, especially considering the high price. To be honest, I don't think I will be coming back again.

I visited around 3:30 PM and was able to enter smoothly without waiting. The freshly made kinako ice cream has a smooth texture and tastes delicious. If you choose the "greedy set," you can also enjoy two different flavors of ice cream. It was tasty, but I felt like it was a bit expensive for ice cream... Well, I guess that's just the tourist spot pricing.

I revisited this place because I was so impressed when I went there before. Of course, I had to try the freshly made kinako ice cream again. The eating area is on the second floor. You order by scanning a QR code once you're seated. I ordered the freshly made kinako ice cream for 1000 yen, which also came with tea. It's a nice service. This kinako ice cream has never been frozen, so you can enjoy the freshly made texture. When you put it in your mouth, it melts gently and smoothly, spreading the rich sweetness of kinako. It has a unique texture. It's a perfect break during a trip to Kyoto. Considering the tea that comes with it, the price is a bit high, but it's worth it. Thank you for the meal. Overall rating: SS (*Please note that these ratings are based on personal standards and are for reference only.)

Today's "Sweets♪"♫(^ω^) First visit to Gion Kinana Honten, a dessert shop in a back alley of Gion♪ I had a parfait called Kinana Habon, with a bit of an exclusive vibe. The ice cream flavors were matcha, hojicha, and another one I couldn't figure out, but the delicious shiratama was my favorite. The chestnut was also delicious. Thank you for the meal^_^

Visited a cafe in Gion to take a break. I only wanted tea, but couldn't order just a drink, so I got one Kinana (kinako ice cream). It's strange that 2 ice creams cost 1000 yen, but 1 costs 900 yen. My companion ordered the indulgent Kinana (3 ice cream flavors) for 1200 yen. The flavors were kinako, black sesame, and chocolate. They were tasty, but paying over 1000 yen for an ice cream feels a bit overpriced... (Maybe it's the location cost). The parfait was around the same price (1500 yen), so if you're going to have a parfait, that price seems more reasonable.

The chestnut parfait I wanted to try was already sold out as it was a seasonal item. Instead, I chose the freshly made Kinako Half with Black Sesame, Matcha, and Kinako flavored ice cream. It's not too sweet and you can eat as much as you want! The refreshing Yatsuhashi in between bites complements the tanginess of the berries, making it a perfect break from the cold treats. The freshly made Kinako ice cream is incredibly smooth and creamy. I love the Kinako flavor! ❤️

I've been curious about Kinana for a while. I was nervously waiting on the first floor, and finally got guided to the second floor. I forgot to take a photo, but the Kinana ice cream is really delicious ✨✨ You can have freshly made Kinako ice cream, and the parfait in the photo has Yomogi ice cream, Shiratama, and bracken rice cake maybe? A greedy parfait with lots of toppings, Kinana Happo✨✨ It was so satisfying! Thank you for the meal.

I was wondering what "kinana" was and felt excited, but when I tried it, it was delicious! The parfait wasn't too sweet, it was refreshing and tasty. The level of sweetness was just right, I could finish it all in one go! I tried yomogi ice cream for the first time and it became my favorite. I felt like I could go for a second one, haha!

It's delicious, incredibly delicious, but 1000 yen for two ice creams is expensive, haha. It's the kind of deliciousness that makes you want to go back when you visit Kyoto. Please try it out! Taste the 1000 yen flavor!! (Thank you for serving tea even though we only ordered two ice creams...)

Second visit. Just like last time, the servings were generous, and all the ice creams were delicious! Especially the mugwort flavor was intense, which might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I think it's a unique taste that you can't find elsewhere! It was delicious!!! I want to go there again when I visit Gion next time!

After returning from Arashiyama to Kyoto city, before exploring Gion and Kiyomizu, I visited a shop that had caught my eye for its Kyoto-like sweets. There was no line, perhaps due to the time. I ordered the Kinana Italian and the Japanese-style Kinana Hapon. The Italian Kinana had a generous serving of tiramisu beneath Kinana ice cream, topped with raspberry and cherry compote. The Kinana Hapon featured shiratama and sweet red bean paste. The Kinako ice cream was incredibly delicious, and paired perfectly with the tiramisu and shiratama! The location was great, the prices were reasonable, and the quality was very satisfying.

I had high expectations because I thought I could try sweets made with kinako, but unfortunately, I was disappointed. I'm sorry for sharing my own opinion. I ordered kuromitsu (black syrup), but when the staff realized it wasn't kuromitsu, they exchanged it, but the other one was already melted and felt like I was drinking the syrup. As for the waiting time, I lined up inside the restaurant without a queue outside, so I can't tell if they were busy until after entering. The tea was delicious.
