I wandered around Tenjinbashi and got tired. But I really wanted to eat eel at a restaurant, so I mustered up my tired legs and went to the shop. I arrived right after the 5:30 PM opening time, but the place was already almost full. The staff said, "Please wait for the eel to be cooked." I was prepared for a wait of about 30 minutes. During that time, I ordered a beer and a side dish, but in the end, they didn't help pass the time as I had already ordered eel on rice. Ten minutes after the first customer's order arrived, my eel was served as expected after a 30-minute wait. As soon as I took a bite of the eel, I thought, "Yes, it was definitely worth coming to the restaurant." The harmony of the tender eel meat and crispy skin is something you can only experience at the restaurant. Even my reluctant companion was convinced. In conclusion, it's true what they say - you have to eat it at the restaurant.

Today, my scheduled work got postponed to tomorrow, leaving me with a sudden free afternoon. So, instead of lingering at the office, I decided to call it a day and prepare for tomorrow. Since I had some free time, I thought why not go out and enjoy some delicious food? I headed to my second home, the "Tenjinbashi-suji 5-chome Shopping Street," where my partner wanted to visit a restaurant called "Uoi Tengotei." This place is known for its famous Kansai-style grilled eel. While I haven't been to the main store in Sekime, I have visited this branch multiple times with my parents, friends, on dates, and as a treat for myself. My partner also loves it! We used to frequent eel restaurants near our old office in Minamimorimachi, so it's been a while since we visited one. A great suggestion from my partner! We entered the restaurant, went upstairs, and started with a toast with a large bottle of Super Dry beer. Drinking beer at this time of day feels a bit naughty but tastes great! We ordered: - Grilled eel roll... 1,250 yen (tax included) The eel roll arrived as a vibrant yellow with a beautiful grill. It was filled with chopped eel, which is its distinctive feature. It disappeared in no time! - Special grilled eel bowl... 5,200 yen (tax included) Since it had been a long time and we didn't know when we could come back, we splurged on the special version. When we lifted the lid, a large, beautifully grilled eel sat majestically in the bowl. It looked delicious! We sprinkled some sansho pepper and dug in... Crispy on the outside, tender inside! The perfect grilling. It brought back memories. Though it was a large eel, we savored every bite until the last one. So delicious! - Grilled eel and egg bowl... 1,850 yen (tax included) My partner, a fan of eggs, ordered this dish. Even though we had the eel roll earlier... they really love eggs! This type of bowl seems to have become more popular lately, even though it wasn't common in the past. Maybe the trend started with the famous "Kinshi Don" from the renowned restaurant "Kaneyo" in Otsu or Kyoto? My partner was pleased with this trend. Uoi Tengotei was delicious as always. However, the prices have doubled compared to the past, making it a rare treat now. I hope they switch to fully farmed eels soon. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I visited after a year and had a late lunch. I enjoyed a delicious eel rice bowl with slightly thinner eel that was rich in flavor. I also tried eel rolls and grilled eel separately, making it a fantastic lunch. Next time, I'll challenge myself to try the hitsumabushi that the person next to me was eating!

For some reason, I felt like eating eel in Osaka, and when I heard that it's Fish Ueda in Osaka, I decided to visit. It was a late lunch on a weekday, but the main store was still crowded even after 2 pm. So, I found out that there is a branch in Tenroku and decided to visit there instead. It was a late lunch, but surprisingly there was a seat available without waiting, and I was escorted to a tatami room on the third floor. I ordered the eel set for 3600 yen. It arrived in about 15-20 minutes, and even before opening the lid, the delicious smell was already enticing! When I opened the lid, the color was dark, but the eel was perfectly grilled with a rich flavor. It wasn't too crispy, so there was no need for extra sauce, and sprinkling a little sansho pepper made it even more delicious, making the rice disappear quickly. The liver soup was also a delightful addition to the eel time. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I visited this restaurant for lunch with a friend who made a reservation for us. Even on a weekday, the place was crowded with customers coming in one after another. We were seated at a table on the second floor. I wanted to try eel rolls in addition to the eel rice bowl, so I ordered a set of eel rolls and eel rice bowl (large). They informed us that it would take some time, but that was expected and not a problem. When the eel rice bowl and eel rolls arrived, they looked beautiful. The shiny eel was irresistible. My friend ordered unagi hittsumi and eel rolls (she was told that if she ordered the eel rolls separately, she could get a half-size portion. It wasn't on the menu, but they were flexible and accommodating, which was great). We started eating, and the fluffy omelet with chopped eel inside was delicious. The eel in the rice bowl was plump and the sauce was exquisite. Not too sweet or heavy, I could eat as much as I wanted. The rice was just the right texture. We also enjoyed the grilled eel liver. We sprinkled some sansho pepper from the tray next to our table to enjoy the aroma. Although there was eel sauce available, I didn't feel the need to add more since the dish was already well-seasoned. We were so full that we couldn't move for a while, and the staff came to refill our tea multiple times. If I had to point out one thing, the Nara pickles in the pickles selection were too salty for my taste, so I left them. But this is just a matter of preference and didn't bother me much. The eel was so delicious after all. Thank you for the meal. I would love to visit again.

I had an eel roll set for lunch. I feel like the Tenmabashi store is better than the main store, maybe because of the atmosphere? The crispy texture of the eel here is the best. Even though it's eel, it has a satisfying chewiness. It's a restaurant that I feel like I'm missing out if I don't go occasionally.

After taking a stroll through Nakanoshima Rose Garden, I headed north on Tenjinbashi-suji Shopping Street to have lunch at Uoi. While waiting for the grilled eel to be ready, I enjoyed some hot sake and grilled eel liver to quench my thirst. The main dish, the grilled eel, had a crispy texture and was unlike any eel I had tasted before as someone from the Kanto region. The sauce was refreshing and delicious! While I enjoy fluffy eel, I was truly impressed by the deliciousness of Osaka's grilled eel.

I came to Osaka and felt like eating eel, so I visited the charcoal-grilled eel restaurant called Uotentei Ushiten. I took the Osaka Loop Line to Tenjinbashisuji Shopping Street. The taste of eel in Osaka is different from Fukuoka, but it was delicious. I would like to visit this eel restaurant again when I come back to Osaka. :)

Had lunch at Uoichi in Tenjinbashi-suji Shopping Street. This eel restaurant has its main store in Sekime, and although I've been to the main store before, this was my first visit here. I ordered the eel rice bowl (large size). The prices here are reasonable, especially considering the current situation. The eel arrived with a Kansai-style grilling finish, with a crispy texture on both the skin and the flesh. The eel was not very thick, but it was decent for the price. The sauce was sweet but not too heavy, which I liked. The eel rice bowl came with eel liver soup and pickles. Located within the shopping street and offering reasonable prices, I think this is a good place to enjoy eel without breaking the bank. Thank you for the meal.

I arrived at the restaurant 3 minutes after it opened at 11:03 and it was already full, with a 30-minute wait. I was seated at the counter on the first floor, right next to where the eel was being grilled. I ordered the premium eel bowl, grilled eel liver, and a bottle of beer. After waiting for 10 minutes, the grilled eel liver was served. I couldn't resist and added a local sake. The grilled eel liver was skewered and grilled perfectly to my liking, and paired excellently with the sake. When the premium eel bowl was finally served, it looked and smelled amazing. I sprinkled some sansho pepper on it and took a bite. The crispy skin and tender meat were so delicious that I couldn't stop until I finished it all. I will definitely revisit with my partner next time. Until we meet again.

My wife and I decided to take a stroll around Tenroku in the evening without any plans and ended up having dinner at Uoi-san, a newly opened restaurant that my wife had wanted to try. This is a branch of a long-established store with its main branch in Sakaiminato. We were seated on the second floor, and as the restaurant started to fill up, we eagerly awaited our meal while sipping on draft beer. The meal started with grilled white eel and grilled eel liver. The white eel was tender and easy to eat, but I personally prefer it to be a bit more crispy. The soy sauce and wasabi provided were nice, but I would have preferred salt instead of soy sauce. The eel liver was mild in flavor and easy to eat, suitable for those who are not fond of liver. Next came the eel bowl, with me ordering the special grade and my wife ordering the regular grade "umaki" set. The difference between the grades is the amount of eel, with the special grade being served in a bowl. The eel was tender and easy to eat, with a slightly Kanto-style taste. The sauce was light and the price for the special grade was reasonable. The "umaki" style had thinly sliced eel rolled with egg, and it was also delicious. I finished my meal quickly, so to pace ourselves, I ordered hot sake (Amagoshizuki) and a pickled vegetable platter. The hot sake arrived promptly, but the pickled vegetables never came. There were some disappointing aspects regarding the service, which I have omitted. Overall, I think this restaurant is suitable for regular visits for those living nearby. You can enjoy delicious eel at a reasonable price. I visited the restaurant during lunchtime because I often see on social media the unadon topped with tamagoyaki and wanted to try it. The unagi (eel) on the unatama don (available from 11:00 to 15:00) was as delicious as always! The tamagoyaki was a bit smaller than shown in the menu photo, but it was okay. However, I didn't like the texture of the rice, which seemed to be broken grains and the way it was cooked. I didn't notice this when I had hitsumabushi or unaju before... I'm not sure if they separate the quality for the service lunch, or if they made changes overall, but it was disappointing.

I have never tried Osaka-style eel before. I checked in at this restaurant on Temma Street. I ordered the Unagi Juu (eel rice bowl) for 2,950 yen. It arrived in about 10 minutes. I took a bite of the eel first. It was crispy and delicious. The sauce was not too sweet, just the right flavor. I like the fluffy Edo-style eel too, but I prefer this one.

On the final day of the Bon holiday (personal), I decided to get some nutrition from eel in preparation for returning to work after the holiday. I visited a long-established eel restaurant in the Tenjinbashi-suji shopping street. When I arrived at the restaurant around lunchtime, there was quite a wait, so I took a stroll around the area and returned at a good time when the wait was not long. Inside the restaurant, there were 4 counter seats on the first floor, table seats on the second floor, and it seemed like there was also a third floor. On the tables, there were eel sauce, sansho pepper, shichimi (Japanese seven spice), and soy sauce placed. The menu included hitsumabushi (grilled eel over rice), hitsumabushi (large), unadon (extra large), hitsumabushi and unagi roll set, hitsumabushi and unaju set, hitsumabushi and tororo (grated yam) set, and side dishes such as yakimaki (eel rolled in egg), sansho-ni (eel liver simmered in soy sauce), and grilled eel liver. I ordered the hitsumabushi and unaju set (large). After about 15 minutes, the hitsumabushi, unaju, grilled eel liver, pickles, and soup arrived. When I opened the lid of the lacquered box, I was greeted with a beautiful sight - there were 2/3 eels on top of the rice, not completely covering it but still with a substantial presence. The crispy texture of the grilled eel skin was delightful, and I couldn't help but admire the person who invented grilled eel. The eel on that day was said to be from Aichi Prefecture. The combination of the grilled eel and the refreshing sauce was truly satisfying. The unaju was a small eel wrapped in a delicate dashi broth, which could be enjoyed as is to savor the broth's flavor or dipped in extra sauce. The grilled eel liver was small but well-seasoned and had a nice touch of mitsuba (Japanese wild parsley). Although the ambiance of the restaurant may not compare to those in the Kansai region, the eel here was incredibly delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I always doubted the Osaka-yaki due to the long lines, but my mother-in-law took me to Uzaku, where the dish was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside! The vinegar and salt seasoning was just right! And then came the Mazushi! Naturally, it was delicious on its own, and even better with condiments! When you pour the broth over it, the savory aroma and flavor of the grilled eel blend smoothly in your mouth ❤ The rice is a blend of Yamagata 3, Niigata 3, and Okayama 4, using firm rice that pairs perfectly with the eel ❤ This is the first time I've had such delicious eel in Osaka!

It is an eel specialty store with a wide variety of options. The prices are not too high, so you can enjoy a variety of dishes. This time, I had the eel rice bowl (large) with pickles set, eel roll, and half tofu. I forgot to take a picture of the eel roll. The eel meat is firm and the sauce is not too strong, which is to my liking. The eel roll had a fluffy omelette and a strong eel flavor. I highly recommend the pickled eel, as the grilled eel without steaming combined with cucumber pickles was delicious. The eel rice bowl is also tasty, but it is quite filling with a lot of rice, so I couldn't order other dishes easily (I'll ask for less rice next time). The half tofu is a local dish from Osaka, with tofu soaked in eel broth and very tasty. The Nara pickles as a side dish were delicious, and when I asked the staff if I could have more, they mentioned they also have a Nara pickle platter. I tried eel for the first time at a popular eel restaurant in Osaka. The place was crowded, so I had to wait a bit. The first floor had a counter, and the second floor had tables with acrylic panels for safety measures. I ordered the grilled eel set and it came with pickles. While waiting, I ordered a draft beer and an eel roll. I forgot to take a picture before digging in, but the eel had a good texture and the skin was nicely grilled, just the way I like it!
