Today's lunch was at Shijo Karasuma. After a long time, I had work in Kyoto from early morning, and by early afternoon, work was done. Which means... I'm free! Starting from near JR Kyoto Station, I walked northward. When you have work in Kyoto, you're told to buy something at Nishiki Market, but before that, it's time for lunch. I was really hungry. Passing by Rokkaku, Gokkaku... just a bit more, and there it was! One of the restaurants I've been curious about for a while, Kazahana-san. I wanted to try their salt ramen. Upon entering, there were 5 customers ahead of me. I took a seat near the counter where you can see the kitchen and looked at the menu. Everything looked delicious. In times like this, you should go for the default ramen. But should I make it extra spicy or get a large serving? "Have you decided?" The chef called out. At that moment, I was holding the menu for the spicy rice set. "I'll have this. Ramen with natural salt." Phew, I placed my order. I casually watched the cooking process. The chef had a tough look, but he worked efficiently. Soon, my set was served. Wow, the soup looks beautiful! The aroma is really nice too. I scooped some with a ladle and took a sip. Delicious! I took another sip. Yep, really tasty. The clear soup with a seafood aroma is very mellow, perfect for my salt ramen-loving taste buds. I pulled out the noodles. They were pale, medium-thick curly noodles. Slurp. Oh, these noodles are really interesting! They had a chewy texture. As I chewed, I couldn't help but say, "Yum." I think the chef chuckled over there. The delicate taste of Kyoto in the soup, bringing out the flavor of the broth with salt. It's wonderful. It's been a while since I had such delicious salt ramen. Maybe I should have gotten a large serving. No, I was also interested in the spicy rice. First, I mixed it well and took a bite. Is there a sauce simmered with the chashu on top? It's delicious as it is, but I'll leave it for now. I slurped up the noodles again. The spinach was a good supporting role. When I lifted the rolled chashu, it crumbled like it was melting. It's so tender. After finishing the noodles, I poured the remaining soup over the spicy rice. Wow, it turned into a completely different dish! This is tasty! The rich sauce and light soup combined with the sweetness of the rice transformed into a dreamy dish. This is great! This is really good! After finishing the rice soup, I drank up the remaining soup in the bowl and laid down my chopsticks. Thank you for the wonderful salt ramen. It was a feast.
