At a social gathering last weekend, I visited 'Shodai Bataya' for the first time. It was on Friday, June 30, 2023. Known for their delicious gyoza, I made a reservation in advance for my first visit. Located in Doyama, I arrived almost on time at 6:59 PM. I entered the restaurant, took my seat, placed my order, and by 9:45 PM, I had paid the bill and left. The menu included grilled gyoza, chive and shrimp buns, black wagyu lamp steak, salmon yukke, butter soy sauce stir-fried asparagus, pork shoulder sweet and sour, Bataya's kimchi, quail eggs, bottled beer (Sapporo Red Star), draft beer, whiskey highball, and more. The famous gyoza with pickled ginger and grilled gyoza were both delicious. They can be eaten with vinegar and pepper, offering different eating experiences. The salmon yukke had large pieces, well-seasoned, and was very satisfying. The lamp steak, at 300g, was tender and tasty. Overall, the other dishes were also good.
