I visited a cafe in Sakai known for its tea. I tried their authentic matcha shaved ice. The combination of the sweetness of the milk and the bitterness of the matcha was excellent. The depth of flavor was impressive even at a low temperature. The way the ice was shaved was unique, it melted in the mouth without feeling heavy, and I could easily finish this amount.

I ordered milk, but it was mostly just ice. I have been visiting this place many times, but recently there has been no wow factor. The milk had very little syrup on it and was not tasty at all. The portion size is quite big, so a half size is enough. It's not worth waiting in the long line. The prices go up every year and the cost performance is not good. I won't go there anymore.

Although it is a long-established high-end tea shop, they were very accommodating and considerate towards children, creating a great atmosphere. The tea was a bit pricey but delicious, and I ended up buying souvenirs as well! There is a parking lot in the back, although it can only fit a few cars, the security guard will kindly guide you. Great service, especially in the hot weather.

After half a year, I returned to Osaka. I was interested in Sakai's history, so I visited Tsuboichi Seicha Honpo. I was able to enter smoothly in the evening. Along the Chinchin Train line, there are knife shops and traditional Japanese sweets shops, creating a lovely street with a nostalgic atmosphere. It was a hot day, and I came here for shaved ice. We shared a matcha parfait that was rich in aroma. The shaved ice had a gentle melt-in-your-mouth texture and was excellent. I was very satisfied with the flavor and aroma of the tea. It was a wonderful time.

Matcha milk Kinjou and Hojicha set ☆ 3.6 Our store is a tea shop established in 1850 in Osaka, Sakai, famous for Sen no Rikyu. Visiting at 3 pm on a weekday, we had to wait as the second group due to the full seats. The staff asked if we had a reservation, so it seems like reservations are probably necessary on weekends. After waiting for about 15 minutes, we were seated. I ordered the Matcha milk Kinjou and the recommended Hojicha set. After a while, they arrived. They looked delicious. I was recommended to eat the ice after drinking the Hojicha. Let's dig in! As expected from a tea specialty store, the Hojicha had a rich aroma and tasted delicious! The ice was fluffy, and the matcha was rich. The milk and red bean complemented the matcha with a subtle sweetness, making it quite tasty. I was satisfied with the tea experience. The Hojicha was the most delicious. Next time, I'll try the Matcha parfait or Matcha anmitsu. Thank you for the meal.

I had the Zenzai set. The Zenzai had a light and gentle taste, while the matcha had a slight sweetness. The combination was comforting after finishing it! The parking lot required circling around, but the security guard kindly guided me, which was good. I think I'll come back to try shaved ice when it gets hot!

This is a tea shop in Sakai. This time, I tried the matcha milk kakigori. It melts in your mouth without any crunchiness. It was a bit chilly due to the rain that day, but it was still very delicious. I think it will be even better as it gets warmer. The hojicha in the set had a wonderful aroma and tasted delicious. It was completely different from the hojicha I have had before. The atmosphere inside the shop was calming and relaxing.

I visited a restaurant for the first time to try their sakura tea rice porridge meal, which is said to be available from the end of March to mid-April every year. I've always wanted to visit this place! People wearing kimono or pink clothes can receive a special gift, so I wore a kimono and my daughter wore a pink cardigan. The special gift was a pack of tea (laughs). The sakura tea rice porridge meal includes a choice of dessert and tea for 2000 yen. During the new tea season, there is also a new tea rice porridge meal available. Throughout the year, they offer regular tea rice porridge meals. The sakura tea rice porridge has a subtle flavor and is topped with pickled sakura, a large honey plum, and tea-infused tsukudani to adjust the taste to your liking. The side dishes include salmon, tamagoyaki, a chewy tsukune made with tea, and several types of pickled vegetables and simmered dishes. I chose the rich matcha cream charcoal roll cake for dessert and selected gyokuro tea. The charcoal roll cake is very dark, making it blend in with the black plate in the photo, so only the cream is visible. Despite its richness, it was not too heavy and I finished it in no time! The gyokuro tea was served for the first cup and it was incredibly delicious - you can taste the sweetness and umami of the tea as it is brewed with warm water. The tea leaves are generously filled in the tea vessel, allowing you to enjoy making the tea yourself. After that, you can pour ponzu sauce over the gyokuro leaves and enjoy it like a sunomono. I thoroughly enjoyed the sakura tea rice porridge, dessert, and tea! I would love to come back again. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

Second visit, this time during the limited-time cherry blossom fair, so I decided to go with this menu! I chose the cherry blossom tea porridge, which came with a roll cake and green tea. I was quite full, so I thought I should have gone with the ice cream option, but oh well! The green tea was brewed for the first cup, and then they brought hot water for refills, so you could enjoy it as much as you wanted. After finishing the tea, you could put the tea leaves on a plate, sprinkle some ponzu sauce, and eat it like a salad, which was surprisingly delicious. During the cherry blossom fair from 3/20 to 4/20, if you come wearing pink or cherry blossom-patterned clothing or kimono, you can receive something special. My mother and I decided to dress up accordingly and arrived early before the opening time. Unfortunately, the cafe was reserved for a private event from 11 am to 1 pm, which was not communicated beforehand. We had to leave and come back later. We felt a bit discouraged, but we decided to check out the merchandise area first. The staff kindly informed us that we could still use the cafe if we were okay with sitting at the smaller tables as the larger ones were reserved. We decided to go for it, and it turned out to be a great decision. The staff was very accommodating, and we had a lovely time in the end. It was a good thing we didn't give up easily.

I wanted to go but couldn't find the place easily because there is only parking space for 4 cars and the area is full of narrow streets. I've known this place for a long time, but things have definitely changed around here. Time flies, doesn't it? When I finally got inside the restaurant, I had to wait a bit after writing my name down. The area near the register sells souvenirs, so I wasn't bored while waiting. The staff were friendly and attentive. I ordered the Anmitsu Set (Anmitsu with matcha ice cream and a choice of tea) and the Matcha Set (matcha ice cream, matcha sweets, and matcha tea), both around 1200 yen. The tea was delicious. The sweets and Anmitsu were sweet but not too sweet, refreshing. The tea leaves at the end were tasty, especially with a little ponzu sauce. I was pleasantly surprised. I want to try their shaved ice next time. I'll definitely come back. Thank you for the meal.

I went to a tea house with a friend after a long time. The atmosphere was great, and we were lucky to get a window seat. We stayed for about 60 minutes, and when we left, there were people waiting as the place was full. The matcha syrup on the anmitsu was delicious. I recommend the gyokuro tea! We started with the first brew, then had a few more cups, and finally ate the tea leaves with ponzu sauce for the first time. It was amazing! My friend had plenty of sweet red bean paste in their zenzai. It came with tea-infused pickles. It was a fun time after a long while.

Near Ayanocho on the Sakaisen line, there is a famous tea shop in Sakai called "Saryo Tsuboichi Seicha Honpo Sakai Honten." They have a parking lot for a few cars, but it's always full. I recommend going early. You can enjoy parfaits and lunch in the shop, or purchase tea and tea sweets to go. Today, I bought roasted tea and green tea as gifts. They were carefully wrapped and I am very satisfied. Thank you very much!

It was Sunday and I was prepared to wait in line, but surprisingly I got in easily! There were four parking spots available too, which was a nice surprise. I aimed for the limited quantity hojicha rice porridge. They had it, so I ordered a half size. The porridge had a mild flavor, so I ate it with pickled plum and tea-infused tsukudani. The simmered dish was delicious, but the sweet potato cake-like thing had a strong tea flavor, which was impressive. I only had that at the time, but I'm curious about their sweets too. I'll definitely have to go back!

Miraculously found a parking spot and decided to try Uji Kintoki for the first time, but ended up being drawn to their limited quantity lunch menu. Enjoyed a delicious lunch of tea porridge and various tea-infused dishes while admiring the garden. The dessert was a half-size shaved ice that was surprisingly large and satisfying. The Gyokuro green tea was exceptional, living up to the reputation of this long-standing tea house.

Rikyu Matcha Shigure ¥1320 I arrived around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. There is a private parking lot for 4 cars, but it was full when I went, so I parked at a nearby coin parking lot. The restaurant was full, but I was able to enter in about 5 minutes. The shaved ice came about 5 minutes after ordering. It was surprisingly large!! It was very cold. Haha. It was a sweet matcha rather than a bitter one, more powdery. It was delicious!

The parking lot only fits 4 cars, so we were directed to a nearby paid parking lot. We were seated after a short wait inside the restaurant. We visited in the afternoon, but they had already sold out of lunch, so we tried their popular shaved ice and parfait instead. The shaved ice was quite large and started melting halfway through, making the tray all wet. The matcha flavor was truly authentic, like something you would expect from the birthplace of Sen no Rikyu. It was so fluffy that it practically disappeared in your mouth.

I rushed in on a hot day for the tea and half-size shaved ice set, with an extra chewy white ball. The matcha milk mini? It was not mini at all. It was a good size and just right. The ice was amazing. It was fluffy yet firm. Easy to eat. The matcha had just the right amount of sweetness. When you bury the white balls in it and let it cool for a while before eating, it's delicious. I chose hojicha tea. It had a nice aroma and soothed my stomach after the ice. Thank you for the meal.

Walking along the Kishu Kaido under the hot summer sky, the purpose is here - the warm brown noren looks inviting. I've been to a shop in Namba before, so I wanted to come to Sakai Honkan once. However, it was quite a walk, haha. Hot summers are tough, aren't they? Rich! Shaved ice with matcha at the tea shop - ahh, refreshing for the body and throat. Then, in the cool interior, delicious tea with zenzai. This is also irresistible. Eating sweet bean paste with slightly burnt rice cake while sipping delicious tea from the tea shop is just amazing. The tea leaves used are displayed, and you can dip them in something slightly sour before enjoying. It was delicious (I was explained what it was, but I forgot). The sweetness enhances the tea, and the tea enhances the sweetness (laughs). The combination makes you want to eat monaka, so I shared it with my partner. Delicious!! It was a satisfyingly sweet day. In front of the shop, there is a streetcar running, which adds to the atmosphere. Feeling a bit like a trip, I took the streetcar on the way back!!

This is my second visit! I ordered almost the same thing as last time, haha. It's great that there is parking available! There are only two tables, but I recommend the seats with a view of the courtyard. Everything was delicious! Next time, let's go eat a parfait!
