The restaurant opens around 8:20 in a mysterious way. You can enter from either the east or west side of the restaurant. The parking lot has space for 4 cars in 2 rows, but it's narrow. The nearby underground parking lot has tight curves and narrow spaces, so be careful if you have a large car. Personally, I wouldn't go unless I have a small or compact car. When you sit at your preferred seat, you are served with a cold towel, a menu, and can call the waitstaff at your convenience. While waiting, you write your name at the entrance and wait outside the restaurant. The interior resembles an eel's sleeping place, with a high ceiling and sunlight from the Kamo River side creating a fresh morning atmosphere. The coffee mill and Dutch coffee utensils add a café-like ambiance. The restroom has no lock outside, but a lock inside, and it's a Japanese-style toilet. Women need to be cautious as the handrail is located towards the back right. You can choose the sweetness level of your coffee when ordering, and they can remove mustard from the ham sandwich for kids, which is thoughtful. You can order any type of coffee with the set for an additional charge. Ordering coffee beans to go at the same time makes your departure smoother. The Morning Set (¥780) includes Dutch coffee (¥+10), buttered toast, salad, ham, and boiled egg. The visual presentation is delightful, with the buttered toast soaked in flavor, served with a salad, ham, and boiled egg on a plate made from the cut-out bread corners. The thick toast has become smaller over the years but remains delicious. The dressing is refreshing, enhancing the taste. The coffee blend has a balanced bitterness, mild acidity, and a clean finish, making it suitable for mornings. Dutch coffee, especially iced, is enjoyable, with a strong aroma and flavor. The welcoming service from the staff, the consistent atmosphere, and the everyday Kyoto vibe make this place special. If you start your day with their Morning Set, you'll feel fresh and ready to tackle the day.
