Located along Kitayama Street in Kaga-Iwagaitocho, Kita Ward, Kyoto City, on the north side of the Kyoto Botanical Garden, this popular bakery also houses a restaurant that was selected as one of the top 100 bakeries in the Tabelog Pan WEST Best 100 in 2020. They only accept payments through PayPay and LINE Pay, credit cards and electronic money are not accepted. The parking lot, with space for 9 cars, is located on the east side of the store, and you can receive a 20-minute free parking ticket at the register (2-hour free ticket for restaurant customers). I purchased a curry bread for 200 yen + tax (216 yen including tax), a Katsu Mix Sandwich for 420 yen + tax (454 yen including tax), and a Romanesco Wiener for 280 yen + tax (303 yen including tax). Although the curry bread was initially sold out, freshly fried ones were replenished midway, so I chose it without hesitation. The curry bread, generously filled with homemade curry, had a crispy surface and a moist and high-quality interior, providing a delicious taste. The Katsu Mix Sandwich contained two each of katsu, potato ham, and egg salad, with particularly high-quality katsu, and all three fillings were delicious. The Romanesco Wiener, made by weaving together three different doughs, featured a crispy cauliflower-like Romanesco texture with wiener, potato, etc., topped with sesame mayonnaise. The various textures and flavors of the three doughs, combined with the Romanesco and wiener matched perfectly with the sesame mayonnaise, resulting in a delicious dish.

During my trip to Kyoto, I arrived around 7:40 on Saturday and the parking lot was full, so I parked at the nearby parking lot. I was able to enter the restaurant without waiting and it quickly became full afterwards. I chose the Brian breakfast set with a mushroom omelette. It had a generous amount of mushrooms inside and was delicious. I had to wait quite a bit until the first bread and salad were brought to me, but I felt reassured because they kept bringing more bread and coffee afterwards. Even if a certain bread wasn't in the basket they brought, they would confirm and bring it to me. The bread mainly consisted of plain rolls and croissants, but there were also strawberry jam, custard Danish, and grape bread, so I didn't get tired of just eating bread. They were all delicious, but my favorite was the brioche. It had just the right amount of sweetness and a strong buttery flavor without being too heavy, so I probably had about 5 of them. On my way back, I bought the same items at the bakery on the first floor for takeout. I also got a pretzel that caught my eye. Even though it was all-you-can-eat bread, they were all incredibly delicious and of a quality that could be sold in a bakery. The cost performance was quite good since you could eat as much as you wanted. Despite the crowd, the staff were friendly and the atmosphere was comfortable, making me feel like staying longer just with coffee and bread. If I have the chance to visit Kyoto again, I would like to go back.

Brian, where you can enjoy all-you-can-eat bread at a famous bakery for bread. I've been curious for a while, and finally visited. I arrived around 10 o'clock, and when I registered at the machine, there was a 30-minute wait for 10 groups. I was actually seated in about 20 minutes. Since it was my first visit, I ordered the Briant breakfast set for 1408 yen, which includes bread, salad, egg dishes, and drinks. I chose hot coffee for the drink because refills are free. They brought me a basket with 5 pieces of bread at first, and then the staff brought a basket with various types of bread for me to choose from when I asked (or when the staff came around). Personally, I liked the cereal raisin bread, which is an oatmeal bread with lots of raisins, and I ended up eating 2 pieces of it. I had 8 pieces this time, but I stopped thinking about the future. It was nice to enjoy delicious bread cost-effectively and elegantly in a good atmosphere.

A bakery where there's always a line even on weekdays. The food is delicious! You can have light meals on the second floor. Visited for breakfast... waited in line for 60 minutes with nothing else to do, so signed up and wandered around the town. Ordered egg dishes from the menu. All-you-can-eat bread (although it's only a few types) and you can get free refills of hot coffee.

I visited the restaurant that I had wanted to go to before, and my wish came true as we drove there. Since it opens at 7:30, we arrived to find two parking spots available. It's a small parking lot, so it was a good decision to go in a small car. My sister and I ordered a set with all-you-can-eat soup, salad, drinks, egg dishes, sausages, and bread. My daughter ordered a set with mini salad, drinks, and all-you-can-eat bread. The salad came first, and it took a while for the egg dishes to arrive. Coffee was refillable, so we had it refilled several times.

This is Boulangerie Kitayama Honten in Kyoto Kitayama, a top 100 bakery in Japan. They have won in the French bread competition. Congratulations! The first floor is a bakery, and the second floor is a restaurant with a spacious interior. When you open the door, you are welcomed by a variety of bread. I tried their popular menu item, the cream bread. The bread has a delicious aroma. The custard has a rich eggy taste and is delicious. It seems like the deliciousness of cream bread from anywhere keeps increasing year by year. It was a delightful experience. Thank you for the meal.

I visited after a stroll at the nearby botanical garden, as morning is the best time to walk in this hot weather. The breakfast buffet with a plate of assorted items (you can choose from several egg dishes, equivalent to 2 eggs) and a drink is around 1200 yen, which is great value. You can't get refills on iced coffee, but you can with hot coffee. It's no wonder this place is popular. The reviews were spot on. I recommend visiting the botanical garden and Kitayama Boulangerie afterward.

I heard that the all-you-can-eat bread breakfast here is recommended, so I went there around 8 am on a weekday morning! I had heard that it could get really crowded even on weekdays, but on the day I went, there were plenty of empty seats and no one was waiting in line. They had a set called "Briant Morning?" with egg dishes that looked delicious, but since I wanted to eat a lot of bread, I chose the all-you-can-eat bread set with a mini salad and a drink (around 960 yen including tax). I chose iced coffee for my drink, but if you choose hot coffee, you can have unlimited refills which is a great deal! The bread selection included Danish pastries (cream cheese, custard, strawberry jam), roll bread, five-grain bread, focaccia, granola bread, broccoli and cheese bread, raisin bread, salt bread, black sugar walnut bread, croissant, etc. The toppings were more about experiencing the flavors and textures of various ingredients rather than being voluminous. There were olive oil, salt, pepper, and olive oil flavored with peperoncino on the table, so you could freely change the taste and enjoy eating without getting bored. Personally, I liked the fruit granola bread and cream cheese Danish the most. They were filled with various dried fruits! Also, they asked quite frequently if I wanted more bread or coffee, and since it wasn't crowded, I was able to eat a lot and relax slowly, so I was very satisfied.

During my trip to Kyoto, a local friend took me to a delicious breakfast spot in Kitayama. Despite being 8:30 in the morning, the place was packed and we had to wait for 5 groups ahead of us! After waiting for 30 minutes in the waiting area, we were finally seated at our table. The first floor of the restaurant is a bakery, offering all-you-can-eat freshly baked bread. The morning plate included boiled eggs, bacon, sausages, assorted vegetables, and unlimited coffee. The food was delicious, especially the juicy sausages! I couldn't resist trying all the different types of bread - tomato and cheese baguette, brown sugar bread, cheese Danish, ciabatta, raisin brioche - I might have eaten too much, haha. All of this for just 1408 yen including tax is definitely a great deal.

This place offers great value for money. The lunch course is around 1500 yen. It includes a main dish, salad, drink, dessert, and unlimited servings of the restaurant's delicious bread. The quality of each bread is so high that you wouldn't believe they are all-you-can-eat. There are about 8 varieties to choose from, including bread with berries and nuts, and salt butter bread. The delicious bread is so tempting that many customers end up buying souvenirs at the bakery on the first floor before leaving. The interior of the restaurant is also clean and recommended for families with young children.

I came for lunch because I heard they have all-you-can-eat bread. It's a famous bakery in Kitayama, so I had some expectations. Since reservations are not accepted, I went directly to the restaurant, took a number tag at the reception machine, and waited. You can get a 2-hour free parking ticket, but it might not be enough considering the waiting time. I ordered the Brie lunch with meat. The main dish took a while to arrive, but I didn't mind the delay in serving the bread first. The bread was placed in a basket, and the staff came around with a large basket of bread for refills. Although you could indicate what you wanted, there wasn't much explanation about the bread, and the variety was a bit limited with only the types in the first basket, which was a bit disappointing. It's also mentioned on the menu that the bread is not freshly baked. The main dish was delicious, and although the dessert and drinks were a bit disorganized, the taste was good.

I arrived before 11:00 on Sunday and there were 4 groups waiting, so we were told it would be about a 15-minute wait, but it quickly extended to about a 40-minute wait. In reality, we waited for almost 30 minutes. There is a waiting area on the second floor, but it is not very spacious. The Briand lunch comes with all-you-can-eat bread. I chose the hamburger, and they bring out a basket of bread at the beginning and ask if you would like more at your table. Even when you're eating dessert at the end! It's wonderful. Both the hamburger, bread, and dessert were of high quality and I was very satisfied. The cost performance is quite good! ❤️

The restaurant has a bakery on the first floor and a dining area on the second floor. I went for lunch with two friends. Upon entering, we received a reservation number that automatically appeared under the stairs on the right. We also added the restaurant on LINE to receive notifications when our turn was approaching, but it was not very useful as it only indicated whether our turn had arrived or not, without showing the actual number in line. It was a 40-minute wait, so we went to a nearby shop while waiting for the notification. When the notification finally came, we thought it was a bit slow to head back to the restaurant. We decided to go back a bit earlier than the estimated time and waited under the stairs, feeling a bit anxious as we didn't know how much longer we had to wait. We decided to go upstairs to ask, and to our surprise, there were chairs provided for waiting. We had no idea since there were no signs or announcements. The food was delicious, especially the crispy salted pork sauté. The all-you-can-eat bread selection was a bit limited with plain soft bread and raisin bread, but it was enjoyable with butter and oil provided. The salted bread was particularly tasty! One staff member mentioned that the salted bread was sold out, but another staff member surprised us by bringing some out later. Unfortunately, by the time it arrived, my friends were already full and couldn't try it, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, the salted pork sauté was delicious, and the staff were friendly and provided good service, making it a memorable and enjoyable experience with my friends.

After viewing the Aoi Festival, I came here. Even though I live in Kyoto, this was my first visit as I never had the chance before. This place is a famous bakery known for their hard bread. However, I'm not a fan of hard bread (^_^;) No matter which famous bakery I go to, they always have anpan and cream pan. It was around 4:00 PM, and although there were only a few left, there were enough choices to pick from. Unfortunately, the anpan was sold out. I got a cream pan (180 yen), two chocolate cornets (200 yen each), and a yuzu apple Danish (320 yen) to go. Despite being a famous bakery, the prices were reasonable, the taste of the dough was good, and it was a nice place.
