Near Ichijoji Station, on the way to the Hachidai Shrine and Tanukidani Fudoson associated with Miyamoto Musashi, there is a Japanese sweets shop located at the entrance. In Ichijoji Nakatani, a popular mail-order sweet called "Kinugoshi Matcha Tiramisu" is famous. The shop is a long-established Japanese confectionery that has been making traditional "Detchi Yōkan" for three generations and is now creating new "Japanese-Western fusion sweets" with the current young proprietress who used to be a patissier and met the shop owner at a tofu restaurant. You can also dine in at the cafe inside the shop. The "Kinugoshi Matcha Tiramisu" is a unique approach to Western sweets by a Japanese confectionery, combining matcha (from Yūen Sakurason), white bean paste, soy milk, fromage blanc, fresh cream, and Tanba milk to create a smooth and refreshing texture, topped with black beans, uguisu beans, and adzuki beans for a perfect balance of sweetness. The "Detchi Yōkan" has a history originating from young men from Ichijoji Village using it as a snack during a festival at Shiga's Hiyoshi Taisha Shrine during the Edo period. Made with Tamba adzuki beans, high-quality white sugar, and Niigata rice flour, it has a light and chewy texture similar to steamed rice cake using wheat flour, with a generous amount of chestnuts from Shikoku. If you visit Ichijoji, be sure to try the "Kinugoshi Matcha Tiramisu" and "Detchi Yōkan." Highly recommended for a delightful experience. Thank you for the meal!

Located about a 7-minute walk from Ichijoji Station, this shop gives the impression of dealing with Japanese-style Western sweets. However, when I visited after a long time, I found that they mainly focus on traditional Japanese sweets, so I purchased some. The Hon Yomogi Dango (sweet bean paste) for 195 yen and the Kurimanju (sweet chestnut bun with sweet bean paste) stood out for their elegant sweetness and easy-to-eat texture. I enjoyed them the day after purchasing and they were still soft and chewy. This shop offers a variety of both Japanese and Western sweets, allowing customers to choose based on their mood. I would like to revisit if given the chance.

Visited the long-established Japanese confectionery shop "Ichijoji Nakatani" in Ichijoji. Their signature product is the ◯ Kinugoshi Matcha Tiramisu, which is so popular that it has a waiting list of several months for online orders. Hmm, is it really that good? It's smooth, but not as rich as the mousse from a Western confectionery shop, and while you can taste the matcha, it's not as intense as I expected. The ◯ Apple and Caramel Cake... Hmm, this too... The apple is fresh and the bittersweet sweetness of the caramel is nice, but it feels like there's too much moisture for a cake. It's commendable that they can blend Japanese and Western flavors, but I couldn't help but feel it lacked a clear direction.

My daughter dragged me around to various places to eat, and I had high expectations for Nakatani's shaved ice since she raved about it at Gora. However, it was disappointing as it was just a typical shaved ice from a Japanese confectionery shop. I have tried over 600 shaved ice desserts in Nara, Hyogo, Osaka, Kyoto, and Shiga, including imitations of Gora's. I appreciate simple shaved ice with almost nothing but syrup, but this one with fresh strawberry syrup was frankly bland. Moreover, when I asked for extra syrup, they said it would cost an additional 100 yen, so I decided against it. Nakatani in Ichijoji is a well-known and popular shop, so their other items may be delicious, but the matcha dumplings and fresh strawberry syrup that I ordered were disappointing. The staff was efficient, and the elegant interior had a nice atmosphere. Thank you for the meal.

When I went to eat the authentic warabi mochi, I couldn't help but notice the Kinugoshi Matcha Tiramisu at Raitei. I decided to try it! I had it. It was not too sweet and had a nice texture! Very easy to eat and definitely worth a repeat visit! Of course, the authentic warabi mochi was superb. It's a recommended Japanese sweets shop, a little far from the city center.

The restaurant I arrived at after quite a walk appeared to be a traditional Japanese confectionery shop at first glance, with a mix of Japanese and Western atmosphere inside. I tried the silky green tea tiramisu, which was both visually appealing and delicious! I also bought some baked goods as souvenirs, including a white miso and nut cake, all of which were tasty. I'm curious about their rice dishes as well. I'd like to revisit along with the nearby Shisendo temple.

I had Mont Blanc and coffee as a set. I was surprised by the Mont Blanc; it had a complex taste with ingredients like chestnut yokan and raspberry cream inside. The chestnut flavor was good and had a stylish taste, allowing me to enjoy various flavors in one piece. It was a fantastic moment.

Sweets made by a couple of Japanese confectionery artisans and a pastry chef in Ichijoji are popular for both their Japanese and Western flavors! Their lunches are also healthy and delicious, with the restaurant being full every day. Popular menu items like matcha tiramisu and bracken rice cakes combine Japanese and Western tastes, making them unique and flavorful!

★Located near Eikando Temple and Manshu-in Temple. ★The atmosphere in the cafe space is somewhat simple. The hospitality of the staff is outstanding ♡ ★Tried the Kinugoshi Matcha Tiramisu Set for 900 yen (tax included). The texture is light and fluffy. The beans on top of the cake are delicious.

You can get dishes like zaru warabi and zaru tiramisu for takeout by car! Be careful when parking as it can be difficult on narrow roads ⚠️ It was delicious, but I might not necessarily go back. The unique idea of serving dishes on zaru (bamboo trays) gives a distinctive touch to the experience.

A shop located in Ichijoji. It is on the way to Shisendo. The day I visited was a snowy weekday. It was so cold that I rushed into the store. Inside, there were several spacious table seats. I wanted to warm up my body, so I ordered ozenzai. Kombu and ozenzai were served together. There were two rice cakes in the ozenzai. It was so delicious that it warmed up my chilled body, and it was a calming space. This shop is famous for its Decchi yokan. I bought Decchi yokan on the way back and took it home as a souvenir.

I visited around 12:30 PM and there were about 3 other takeout customers. I purchased the "Silky Green Tea Tiramisu" for 1940 yen. I heard that ordering online would have a 9-month wait, so I was able to get it by purchasing it at the store!! It seems to be a sweet made with white bean paste from Yagurakuen using matcha and soy milk from the landlady. The tiramisu poured into a folding box is designed to evoke a dry landscape garden, making it a nice gift. It was smooth, light, and refreshing. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I stopped by in the middle of a pilgrimage to collect Goshuin stamps (visited 16 shrines). I received Kusa Mochi and Warabi Mochi. The sweet red bean paste in the Kusa Mochi was delicious. I had previously felt unsettled by the fusion of Japanese and Western sweets, but as an older lady, "Japanese sweets are Japanese sweets" feels more natural to me. Thank you for the meal.

The restaurant was a bit crowded so I got three cakes to go! ⭕️Silky Matcha Tiramisu 480 yen - Really delicious. Smooth texture. The beans on top are tasty and the cream is fluffy. The matcha sponge at the bottom is not too sweet and tasty. Highly recommended! ⭕️Steamed Chestnut Mont Blanc 650 yen - The chestnut cream is delicious. The sponge at the bottom is layered with pretty pink and green colors. The surprise Japanese-style sweet at the very bottom is tasty! ⭕️Seasonal Tart 450 yen - This is a regular chocolate and nut tart. The first two were really delicious!

It was a cold Christmas Eve with snow piling up in the Tokai region. I warmed up at Tenten-san and then went shopping at Nakatani-san. Summary: Soy Milk Pudding 410 yen A soy milk pudding with a diameter of about 40mm and a height of 30mm. It is served with roasted green tea sauce. The soft sweetness of soy milk and the fragrant roasted green tea make a perfect match in this Japanese-style pudding. It has a refined sweetness and I quite like it. Pie Daifuku [Sweet Potato] 220 yen A pie stuffed with mashed sweet potato. The combination of fragrant black sesame and sweet and fluffy sweet potato, along with the crispy pie and chewy mochi, is delicious.

This is a cafe and sweet shop located in the area near Shisendo and Enkouji temples. I went there at 2:30 pm on a weekday and had to wait in line. It's a very popular place. Definitely worth the wait! The desserts and matcha were delicious, so I would love to come back again!

I revisited after a long time. This time, I tried the Nakatani Parfait at Nakatani in Ichijoji Nakatani. I'm happy that it includes the famous Detty Yōkan. It has a subtly sweet and exquisite taste that is elegant and typical of Kyoto. I also bought Detty Yōkan and Honey Castella on the way back. They have a refined sweetness that goes well with delicious matcha. Ichijoji in northern Kyoto, famous for the duel of Miyamoto Musashi at Shimo-no-Matsu. It is located on the approach leading from ancient times to Mount Hiei Enryaku-ji Temple. It was worth taking the Eizan Electric Railway. It seems they also serve lunch. It's crowded even on weekdays. It's a place you'll want to visit many times. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the restaurant at its opening time of 9 o'clock and had their morning set. I enjoyed the colorful Kyoto-style zoni rice. The zoni with white miso had a gentle flavor that was comforting. The red rice had delicious azuki beans and felt like something you would find at a traditional Japanese sweets shop.
