When I first saw the building of this restaurant, it looked eerie and I couldn't bring myself to step inside. But, as they say, you get used to things. I decided to visit because of the unbelievably cheap lunch offer of okonomiyaki for 390 yen. I went around noon and there was one customer before me and one after me. The restaurant mainly has counter seating, with tatami seating in the back. There are other lunch menu options, but the okonomiyaki was the standout in terms of price. I was curious about the ginger yakitori, which was available with pork or chicken, but I decided to play it safe with the pork ginger yakitori. The meat was seasoned and cooked on the hot plate right in front of me. It was served in about 10 minutes. Let's dig in. There were 3-4 slices of pork, not too thick but tender when bitten into. The sauce was slightly sweet, reminiscent of okonomiyaki sauce. It was delicious. The soup with enoki mushrooms was also a nice touch.

Visited around 12:10 on a regular day. There were 5 customers before me and 3 customers after me. I ordered the Pork Belly and Vegetable Stir-Fry with Salt Sauce for ¥700 from today's set meal menu. It seemed like everyone ordered at the same time, so it took about 20 minutes for the dish to be served. The chef, who was the only one working, apologized for the wait. The pork belly had a nice texture and was delicious. The saltiness was just right for me, and it went well with the rice. They offered a free rice refill, so everyone around me got another serving. The vegetables included cabbage, onion, and shimeji mushrooms. The miso soup had green beans and tofu with a poached egg. Thank you for the meal.

I found a surprising sign for a 390 yen okonomiyaki lunch at the entrance of Shinjuku Town Plaza on the way from Odaki Bridge Street to Okubo Station (*'▽'). There are quite a few restaurants in this mixed-use building on the first floor, but if you climb halfway up the stairs to the 0.5 floor, you will find a mysterious half-tatami-sized tenant with fortune-telling, nail salon, and musical instrument repair shop. Going further back, I discovered "Teppan Sakaba Okubo Base"! It was just before 2:00 p.m., so I made it just in time. There was no one in the restaurant when I entered. I ordered the 390 yen okonomiyaki at the counter. They cook it right in front of you at the counter. It took a little time to cook, but I didn't mind as a wide show was on TV. The okonomiyaki arrived - a square one with an egg in the middle, lots of cabbage, and finely chopped squid legs. It was delicious as it was freshly cooked. It came with a red miso soup with fried tofu and green beans. All this for 390 yen is a great deal! They also had yakisoba and lunch sets. Thank you for the meal! I will definitely come back again.

Lunch with soup and okonomiyaki for 390 yen! I visited around 12:15 on a weekday. No customers were there yet, just one person came in later. There was a hardworking man running the shop, very kind and reassuring. The menu also includes yakisoba for 600 yen, daily specials, and ginger pork or chicken set meals at regular prices. If you feel like the okonomiyaki isn't enough, you can add rice for an extra 100 yen. I decided to order the okonomiyaki. It took a bit of time to arrive, but I don't mind because for 390 yen, it's understandable. It was filled with plenty of cabbage and a half-cooked egg hidden in the center. The homemade mayonnaise melted from the heat. My mouth was filled with the flavors of the batter, egg, cabbage, nori, and sauce. It was a satisfying amount for the price. I am grateful for the service at this price. If I had to ask for one thing, I would have liked some pickled ginger.

I visited around 12:10 on a regular day. There were two customers before me. I ordered the daily lunch set menu "Ginger Pork" for 700 yen. It came out in about 10 minutes. The pork was a bit tough and dry, but still tasty. I was curious about the cheap price of the "Okonomiyaki for 390 yen" on the lunch menu. Thank you for the meal.

A teppanyaki restaurant near Okubo Station. It is located on the first floor of Shinjuku Town Plaza Building, where unique dining establishments are lined up, and the interior has a somewhat nostalgic atmosphere with both counter seats and tatami rooms, making it quite spacious. This time we ordered the following: - Burrito - Stir-fried chicken gizzards with garlic sprouts - Thick noodles yakisoba - Okonomiyaki All dishes are reasonably priced with a homely taste. The okonomiyaki, with just cabbage, squid, and half-cooked egg as toppings, is only 390 yen, which is very cheap. It may be a good place to go for a budget-friendly meal.

When I hear teppanyaki, I usually think of very expensive restaurants, like in Akasaka or Roppongi. I used to go to those high-end places occasionally in my thirties and early forties when I felt a bit like in the bubble era. However, this place is completely different. It has a more down-to-earth vibe, like having yakisoba and Hoppy as snacks. I went there when I was already full, so I couldn't try everything, but everything was delicious. The motsu-ni was very tender and tasty. I want to try it again. The yakisoba is particular about the noodles. Slightly thick and firm noodles are good. The sauce is also delicious. I recommend this. The manager told me that the okonomiyaki is also delicious, so that's for next time. It's a cozy little place tucked away in a mixed-use building. It's just a short walk from Okubo Station. I will definitely go back.

At the south exit of Okubo, I found a hidden teppanyaki restaurant in a building that is hard to notice. They have both counter seats and tatami seating, and the place is surprisingly spacious. The best part is that their okonomiyaki is only 390 yen! This price is hard to come by elsewhere. The texture of the okonomiyaki is fluffy and chewy, with a unique deliciousness. It also comes with a whole egg, and as you eat, the soft yolk flows out. It includes squid and cabbage too, all for this price. They offer both white and black hoppy in large mugs with plenty of refills, making it a fun experience. The steak looked delicious too, but due to budget constraints, I'll have to try it next time. I believe the photo is of chicken with green onions on top. I'm definitely planning to visit this place again.
