Since last time I went near closing time, this time I decided to go in the morning to buy breakfast bread. I got the Kujo green onion yakisoba for 190 yen. There were many bread options priced under 200 yen, which was nice. It had a good texture with a hint of okonomiyaki flavor and a crispy green onion taste.

Visited on July 3, 2023, at 7:45 PM. "Ryugetsudo" is a shop that has been selected as one of the top 100 bread shops. It is located in front of Demachiyanagi Station on the Keihan Main Line. Based on word of mouth, walnut bread is popular, so I purchased four types of walnut-based bread. Each piece is individually wrapped in a plastic bag and pouch, so when you open the bag, you can smell the freshly baked aroma, making it a shop where you can feel the extra care. All the bread had plenty of walnuts and were delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Located near Demachiyanagi Station in Tanaka Shimoyanagicho, this bakery offers soft bread favored by a wide range of age groups at reasonable prices. A popular shop supported by locals, it opened in 1953 (Showa 28). Just about a minute's walk from exit 6 of Demachiyanagi Station, head right after passing through the Eizan Electric Railway ticket gate. The two-story brick building with a triangular roof includes a paid bicycle parking lot for the public. The bakery is on the first floor, while the second floor houses a famous music café (where cakes and drinks are served, and you can also enjoy the bread purchased downstairs). Visiting in the afternoon, the shop has a deep layout with a wide selection of bread at fair prices. They offer sweet bread, savory bread, Heidi's white bread, croissants, popular walnut and grape bread at the back, wheat bread using Kyoto wheat, and English bread. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The items purchased (tax included) are as follows (slightly dented on the way home): Grape Bread (110 yen) - Approx. 9-10cm in diameter and 5.2cm in height. A round bread with raisins kneaded into caramel-colored dough. The surface is crispy, the dough is fluffy and slightly sweet, with the raisins adding a nice touch of sweetness. It has a gentle taste that goes well with butter. Walnut Bread (110 yen) - Approx. 9.2-9.5cm in diameter and 5cm in height. Another round bread with walnuts kneaded in, offering a fluffy dough with a fragrant walnut flavor. Though simple, the chosen breads offer a delicious taste that never gets boring. The English bread made with Kyoto wheat is a candidate for the next visit. If this bakery were near my home, I would definitely include it in my bakery rotation. The music café on the second floor also piques my interest.

I discovered this bakery while searching on Tabelog. It seems to be quite popular. They had a variety of walnut-based bread. The "Fig and Walnut French Bread" for 210 yen was a hard bread with a generous amount of walnuts and figs. It was fragrant and the combination of walnuts and figs was excellent. It was very delicious. The "Cream Cheese Walnut Bread" for 150 yen was a soft bread. The cream cheese was slightly sweet and paired well with the fragrant walnuts. These were delicious bread options. They only accepted cash payments.

The neighboring cafe was honestly not great, but the bakery seems popular and overall inexpensive. The walnut bread for ¥110... has a generous amount of walnuts in each bite. The bread itself is simple but fluffy with a universally appealing taste.

Located near Demachiyanagi Station in Kyoto, "Yanagitsuki-do" is a bakery that has been selected as one of the top 100 bakeries for two consecutive terms. With a nostalgic Showa-era ambiance, this charming bakery celebrates its 70th anniversary. Visiting on a weekday afternoon (Tuesday), I found myself the only customer, allowing me to carefully choose my bread. The prices are incredibly cheap, and the Sugar Bread (including tax at 90 yen) had a unique taste, reminiscent of fried bread but not actually fried. It was fluffy and delicious, with just the right amount of sugar coating. The quality of the ingredients shines through, earning high praise. The affordability and taste make it a great value for money. The service was decent, maintaining the atmosphere of a traditional neighborhood bakery from the Showa era. Overall, I would rate it 3.5 stars out of 5, with some difficulty in determining if it truly deserves to be among the top 100 bakeries. "Yanagitsuki-do" in Demachiyanagi, Kyoto, is a bakery that has preserved a retro Showa vibe. I recommend giving it a try at least once. [Visit rating on Tabelog: 3.66]

Visited around 12:30. They had a wide variety of items. Purchased the walnut bread, maple bread, and garlic wiener French bread that are often recommended. - Walnut bread: comforting deliciousness - Maple bread: felt happy with walnuts inside - Garlic wiener French bread: reheated it. Juicy and delicious. This shop has a toaster for reheating, so if you want to eat it quickly, please make use of it! ☺️

I visited a shop near the restaurant where I had brunch during my trip to Kyoto, even though it was not my preferred type of place. It seems to be a long-established shop founded in 1953, with only warm breads available. Although it's not my preference, there is a wide variety available, perfect for enjoying with my husband at the ballpark. They had placed four huge chocolate breads on a tray. I was surprised to see the prices on the shelves, ranging from 190 yen to 400-500 yen per bread! Of course, I had to buy some. I chose the Cheese Frank for 200 yen and the Kujo Negiyaki for 190 yen, which seemed to pair well with beer. I intended them for my husband, but they were so delicious! The Kujo Negiyaki had tasty green onions and a combination of bacon and mayonnaise. It was a perfect match! The Cheese Frank was also delicious, with a croissant filled with cheese and a frankfurter. But wait, that's not all. It even had cheese inside the frankfurter! My cheese-loving husband was so excited. This shop is not just any old establishment, it's truly delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I visited Bakery Yuzuki-do. I bought walnut bread and cream bread. The walnut bread is soft, fragrant, and delicious. The cream bread is soft, with just the right amount of sweetness in the cream. Thank you for the meal.

I stopped by on my way back from seeing the Aoi Festival. It was quite crowded during lunchtime, but I was able to buy without waiting too long. The chocolate bread (190 yen) is large for its cheap price. It has a texture similar to Danish bread. The top part is crispy, while the inside is moist and soft. It's not too sweet, so it seems like it would go well as a side dish for a meal.

The bread at "Minna no Pan Yasan" was better than its reputation. It had a subtle deliciousness that felt familiar. It was cheap, fast, and tasty. Fresh walnut bread, red bean paste walnut bread, cream bread, and steamed bread were all delicious. Finally, I bought a square loaf of bread, which was also tasty.

There was a bakery in front of Demachiyanagi Station? I've passed by without knowing about it many times... They had Anpanman's Anpan, which was interesting, but I couldn't eat a lot of it... So I bought the most popular Walnut Bread for 110 yen in cash... Let's go buy some sweets. I ate it at home in the evening... It wasn't too sweet, had a soft and simple taste, and was delicious... The walnuts inside were not bad either.

When I went at 6 pm, there was only one walnut bread left, which was disappointing. They were selling the crust of the bread for 50 yen, but I bought the popular walnut bread for 110 yen and took it home. I had it for breakfast the next morning, and even though there weren't many walnuts, the fluffy texture of the bread and the flavor of the walnuts were enjoyable without needing anything else. I plan to visit again and try buying a different kind of bread.

Located in Demachiyanagi, Kyoto, this bakery seems to have been around for a long time judging from its name. I visited in the evening, so there were only a few items left, but I purchased the following: 1. Pan au Fromage - 310 yen A fluffy bread with cheese topping. 2. Walnut and Chestnut Bread - 150 yen A round bread topped with sesame seeds, resembling an anpan, but filled with walnuts and chestnuts. When I asked why it's called "kurio," the response was, "Because it's cute," named in a style reminiscent of a girl and boy. Indeed, it's cute. 3. Fig and Walnut French Bread - 210 yen A hard bread with large cuts containing figs and walnuts. Incredibly affordable, well-made despite the rising cost of ingredients. Applause for that.

It is a long-established bakery located right near Demachiyanagi Station. The retro Showa-era interior is lined with nostalgic breads. There were many breads made with walnuts in particular. I bought the Edamame Rich for 150 yen. It had sweet edamame beans scattered on top and red bean paste inside. The dough was soft and chewy. The Walnut and Chestnut for 150 yen had chopped chestnuts and walnuts inside a fluffy bread, topped with black sesame seeds. The chestnuts were very sweet. The crunchy texture of the walnuts and the aroma of the black sesame seeds added a nice touch. The prices are wallet-friendly with good value for money. These nostalgic and simple breads are loved by both children and adults. A bakery loved by locals and deeply rooted in the community.

Located right near Demachiyanagi Station, the long-established bakery "Yanagitsuki-do." I often take the Keihan line to go there and the Hankyu line to return, but I finally had the chance to visit. Inside the store, there is a wide variety of reasonably priced bread. The specialty walnut bread was lined up at the back of the register. There are many soft bread options, a rich selection of sandwiches, and an oven toaster in the store for warming up bread. It's nice that you can enjoy the bread again after it gets a bit stale! The walnut bread for 110 yen has a fluffy texture with a subtle nutty aroma, making it a perfect choice for a meal. When lightly reheated, the nutty flavor intensifies. The walnut and chestnut bread for 150 yen contains small chestnuts with a simple dough. The chestnuts have a gentle sweetness, different from what I expected, but I actually prefer this version. The walnut red bean bun is another perfect combination that I haven't tried but looks delicious. The walnut sunrise for 150 yen has a nostalgic feel with its name. It's not a melon bread but a "sunrise" with a sweet cookie dough and a fluffy walnut bread inside. It has a gentle flavor that makes me want to eat it again. The Endo Rich for 150 yen gives off a rich vibe from its browned crust. The buttery aroma, moist and fluffy rich dough, and edamame beans create a perfect harmony. I've loved this bread since old times, and I was delighted to find it as it's not often seen in recent bakeries. How about some coffee for 170 yen? This bread has coffee sheets woven into the dough, topped with coffee icing. As a coffee lover, I was drawn to this naming just like the sunrise bread (laughs). It's a bit dry due to the large surface area exposed to air, but still delicious! With my love for walnut bread and the Endo Rich, I've decided to come back for more. A simple and delicious bakery like this one, I hope it continues for a long time.

This is the third bakery near Demachiyanagi Station. This shop is also selected as one of the top 100 bread shops in the 2022 west edition of Tabelog. When I entered the store, it was quite crowded, and there was a wide variety of bread available. I bought the popular walnut bread. 110 yen for a red bean paste-filled walnut bread. 130 yen. Wow, it's very reasonable and a great deal. There are also other items such as a shell-shaped bread for 150 yen, walnut French bread for 180 yen, walnut hotel bread for 360 yen, olive bread for 130 yen, cheese French bread for 160 yen, sweet red bean French bread for 160 yen, almond chocolate French bread for 80 yen, Camembert cheese bread for 380 yen, cinnamon roll for 190 yen, sweet potato bread for 150 yen, apple-chan for 150 yen, Heidi's white bread for 110 yen, almond delish for 170 yen, cheese delish for 170 yen, and many other tempting menu items. The walnut bread was very delicious, so I would like to visit again. Thank you for the meal.

One of the top 100 bread shops in PanWEST, a shop loved by locals for a long time. The walnut bread here is delicious! I visited to try the walnut bread and another intriguing item, the "Tsunopan". The shop has a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere, like an old-fashioned bakery in the neighborhood!! It was around lunchtime, but surprisingly there were few products available. The walnut bread I was looking for was on a shelf at the back behind the counter, but unfortunately, the "Tsunopan" was not available. Among the items on display, I was also interested in Heidi's white bread, but in the end, I chose the well-reputed cookies "Heidesand". I enjoyed the walnut bread in a nearby park and had the cookies when I returned home. The walnut bread is simply delicious in a good way. The dough is a bit on the harder side compared to the walnut bread from famous shops. While the walnuts are not abundant, the slight chewiness of the dough with a moderate walnut flavor is quite tasty. As for the Heidesand cookies, I wasn't expecting much, but they turned out to be quite delicious. They don't have a strong buttery aroma, and the dough, despite not using eggs, has a surprisingly light texture. Very crispy! Each piece is large with considerable volume, yet it's not overly buttery, with restrained sweetness, and the addictive crispy texture makes it surprisingly easy to finish a piece in one go. Since the ingredients were not listed, I couldn't tell for sure, but it was fun to imagine for those who enjoy making sweets. Despite the Tsunopan not being available, I'm glad I got to try these cookies instead.

The original purpose is to visit the second-floor classic music cafe, but this bakery is also selected as a top restaurant on Tabelog, so I'm super excited! Located just 1 minute from exit 6 of Demachiyanagi Station on the Keihan line. Seriously, it's right in front of you. They have a wide variety of bread, so it's hard to choose. If you say "I'll eat on the second floor!" they will put it on a tray and cover it with white paper for you, so grab the tray and head to the second floor!
