A unique bakery with a hidden gem-like feel. They offer items made with white miso as well. The blend of cheese generously topped and baked maintains a consistently soft and fluffy texture without drying out. The miso brings out richness, saltiness, and umami, while the cheese adds depth, creating a satisfying and intriguing flavor profile. Particularly pairs well with wine, like a post-meal formaggio. However, upon a return visit wanting to purchase it again, it was either sold out or not available due to daily changes. Other items, like the Focaccia, are delicious as well, but may not match the initial expectations. I tried the classic combination of blue cheese, walnuts, and honey. It's a standard offering. Instead of the initial cheese bread (?), I bought a bread with onions, potatoes, and cheese, similar to a Danish pastry, but I do not recommend it. The inclusion of green onions, especially the green parts, results in a strong bitterness and smell that permeates the entire product, not enhancing the flavor but making it overly salty. The canelé was an unfortunate combination that I personally do not enjoy, a forced fusion of fondant chocolate and canelé. However, the quality, aroma, and gloss of the outer surface may still receive some praise.

Second visit. I came back because it was delicious last time. Genovese became my favorite. I want to eat it again. Genovese (soft bread) for 300 yen. Potatoes, green beans, cream cheese canelé for 270 yen. The size is small. The outside is crispy with a hint of burnt bitterness, not too sweet.

Kyoto has a lot of delicious food. It seems like there are top-notch restaurants from every genre scattered around. I had tried to visit a bakery nearby before, but they were sold out. This time, I got my revenge at "Hanakago." Inside the store, photography was prohibited, and the small entrance made it hard to see inside, creating a sense of anticipation. When I cautiously entered, there were only a few bread left. Just as indicated on the sign outside as "L'atelier," it truly felt like a small workshop. Since there were not many items left to choose from and I was in the middle of a gourmet tour, I only bought a chocolate bread. Since photography inside the store was not allowed, all I could do was to say, "I got it!" when leaving, but I realized I should have taken a photo in front of the shop sign!! When I went back, it was pouring rain (´;ω;`), and the shop was already sold out and closed for the day!? The shutter was partially down, and the sign was already put away ( ᐡ ๐ ·̫ ๐)〣. Anyway, I'm glad I succeeded in my revenge!! The bread had a crispy texture, and the sweetness spread out nicely as I chewed. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal. It was a bit challenging to take it home without crushing it... It got slightly crushed, so I took a photo from the top.

Located in the middle of Karasuma Oike and Karasuma in Kyoto, this bakery is tucked away in a back alley. It has a stylish logo and building. Their popular items are the hard-type breads. Grenoble for 300 yen, a walnut bread from Grenoble, France - a refreshing walnut bread with a good wheat aroma. Fromage Fruité for 240 yen, a hard bread with cream cheese, featuring the scent and texture of raisins and berries along with the sweetness of cream cheese. Mimosa for 240 yen, a bread in the shape of a Kugelhopf. They make homemade orange jam by combining oranges with sparkling wine, then mix it with orange confit and almond slices into brioche dough before baking - the brioche dough is soft and has a strong orange flavor. The almond slices add a nice touch. All the breads were delicious, but the hard bread Fromage Fruité was my favorite.

Cream bread 270 yen, Olive and Salami 270 yen. I visited the shop around 10:30 by bicycle. There were many products and I couldn't decide which one to choose. The cream bread was mildly sweet with a refreshing orange acidity, making it a delightful cream bread. The Olive and Salami had black olives and Milano salami sandwiched in between, with a nice salty taste that I really liked. Both were delicious. Thank you for the meal. I would like to visit again. Taking photos of the products is prohibited. The manager is cheerful and kind.

Arrived at the restaurant around 13:40 on a weekday. It's a short walk from Farine. Located along a quiet street, there were no other customers at the time. A sign on the entrance door stated "No photography of products allowed." Inside, the spacious store had mostly sold out of bread, with only one type of baguette and around five types of hard bread compactly displayed. Grenoble 300 yen - A bread with sweet walnuts from Grenoble, France. It has a lot of walnuts which give it a very nice flavor. Fruits Fromage 240 yen - A hard bread with cream cheese, figs, and raisins. The acidity of the cream cheese and the fruits create a nice harmony in your mouth! Mimosa 240 yen - A bread in the shape of a Kugelhopf. Made by mixing homemade orange jam with sparkling wine, orange confit, and almond slices into brioche dough and baking it. The name is lovely. The bread has a good orange fragrance and a nice almond texture. The orange bits are good, and the flavor is strong. It was delicious! I would like to try other bread as well. Thank you for the meal.

Due to the prohibition on taking photos inside the restaurant, I will only introduce the items I purchased. 1) A bread with potatoes, Kujyo green onions, and cheese, each retaining its own texture and creating a cohesive whole (see second photo). 2) A blue cheese and honey bread with a strong aroma of blue cheese but no unpleasant smell. The combination with honey is excellent. 3) A croissant (Danish pastry?) with chocolate, custard cream, and almond slices, not too sweet and very delicious. Overall, there are many breads with unique combinations, but they are not overwhelming; rather, each one highlights its own merits. It was really delicious. Thank you for the meal!

Traveling to Kyoto... I decided to take a morning walk while it's still cool and ended up at a nearby bakery. It was a hidden gem and I couldn't find it at first, so I ended up calling them. Sorry for bothering them during their busy hours (^_^;) When I opened the door, the smell of freshly baked bread filled the air... The kind owner was in the middle of baking bread. Everything looked delicious... I had a hard time choosing. I will definitely go back to buy more.

Visited on a weekday Tuesday around 3 pm. No other customers at the time. There were still some bread left. Stopped by here while going to see the floats of the Gion Festival. Croissants, hard bread, and a bread with potatoes and bacon on top had a delicious sauce. The size of the bread is just right.

The items inside the store were not allowed to be photographed, but there were very beautiful breads lined up, creating a space that really lifted my spirits! (The ceiling was filled with cherry blossom illustrations.) The bread also conveyed a lot of attention to detail, and I felt very happy and satisfied with how delicious it was!

I was captivated by the selection of hearty and appetizing dishes at this restaurant. Since it was for breakfast and not as a wine pairing, I made this choice. The croque-monsieur has a delicious bacon flavor on a hearty base, making it a very tasty bread. Although the cheese and bacon bread may look firm at first, it is actually very soft and quickly satisfies your stomach. It feels more like something to drink than to chew, haha. There were many other breads in the restaurant that I want to try. I wish there was one nearby!

No photos allowed! A sudden notice, my plans were thwarted. When I asked the owner about it... apparently there have been many rude people who come in, take photos without buying anything, and then leave. I was surprised to hear this from the owner. Well, I can understand why they would want to say no photos allowed! ◆Items purchased: Bought a few delicious looking items ◆Satisfaction with items: Very tasty ◆Parking convenience: Slightly inconvenient ◆Price attractiveness: Good value ◆Likelihood of revisiting: Yes, because it's delicious ◆Recommendation rating (out of 5 stars): ★★★★ Photos of purchased items (product tags, etc.) are allowed, and the cherry blossom mural inside the store is also okay to photograph. The owner was very friendly and easy to talk to. They seemed to have had some unpleasant experiences with photo-taking. All the bread was delicious and made me want to come back for more.

I finally visited a famous bakery that I always passed by without going in. When I went around 2 PM, there were hardly any pastries left. I bought one with custard and blueberries, and it was so delicious! Thank you for the meal. I still don't quite understand the criteria for the "Top 100 Bakeries" on Tabelog.

Selected as one of the top 100 bread shops in the west. I visited around 2 p.m. on a weekday, but most of the bread was sold out. There was a strong presence of hard bread varieties. The Grenoble bread had a strong wheat aroma and was sweet with walnuts, and despite its small size, it was very satisfying.

The ceiling inside the restaurant is painted with cherry blossoms, and it's okay to take photos of it, but taking photos of the products is not allowed. I visited again after they were sold out last time. I bought a Pain au Chocolat. It has a very light texture. I couldn't reach the chocolate in the first bite, but by the second bite, I could taste both the chocolate and the croissant. The chocolate is a bit sweet. The croissant is light and fluffy, but personally, I prefer something a bit denser. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

No reservation needed, no waiting time, visited alone, stayed for 5 minutes, price 1000 yen per person. I heard that their hard bread is delicious, but I missed the timing and bought something else. The croissant was not to my liking. The canelé was crispy on the outside and chewy inside. It was neither good nor bad, so I want to try their hard bread next time for a better experience.

【Date】Visited on a holiday at 9 a.m. as a party of one.【Reservation】None. Purchased without waiting. Lucky that there were no other customers before me!【Location】About a 5-minute walk from Karasuma Oike Station. The shop is located in a quiet residential area, standing alone with a sign and flower pots as landmarks.【Interior】Takeout only. The interior is small, and it might feel a bit tight with two groups inside.【Order】I like hard bread with red wine, but maybe because I went early in the morning, this was the only option. The red wine aroma was rich, with a moist and chewy texture. Not too hard, so easy to eat. I thought about adding cream cheese, but the bread itself was so delicious that it wasn't necessary! The dried fruits and nuts scattered throughout were a nice accent. Thank you for the meal!【Service】The staff were efficient and friendly!【In conclusion】Hard bread options might be limited in the early morning? I recommend the red wine bread!
