Visited in December 2021 ◎ At the time of posting, the restaurant had a rating of 3.66 on Tabelog (based on 416 reviews). I ordered the ramen for 640 yen (chose the rich option) with an extra serving of noodles for 100 yen. You can choose between rich (strong pork bone) or light (more chicken and dried fish) options. This ramen shop, "Kyoto Senmaru Shakariki Honten," is one of my favorites in Kyoto. I usually have the "Rich Seafood Tsukemen," but today I decided to try a different menu item and ordered the ramen with extra noodles. I chose the rich option with a strong pork bone flavor. The ramen is similar in taste to the "Rich Seafood Tsukemen," but the ramen has a stronger pork bone flavor and less seafood taste. It's a matter of personal preference, but I think I prefer the "Rich Seafood Tsukemen." This type of tsukemen is exceptional and perfect for me. The noodles are firm, and when you mix them with the leeks, the deliciousness increases. I ordered the extra serving, so I was quite satisfied, but it would be a waste to leave behind the rich soup, so I also ordered some rice and finished every last drop with a rice dive. Thank you for the meal.

I felt like eating rich and hearty ramen, so I visited this place. Personally, the taste was neither good nor bad, just average and enjoyable. It was indeed rich as I had hoped, but it was more filling than I had imagined, and my stomach felt stuffed.

Kyoto Senmaru Shakariki Honten Tsukemen Boogie ¥900 Rating (personal opinion): 3.8 It claims to be a complete reproduction of the Ichijoji Boogie tsukemen, but since I have never tried the original, I cannot confirm if it is truly a faithful reproduction. However, it was undeniably delicious. It had a spicy kick with a punchy flavor, yet the aftertaste was light, making it easy to keep eating. #Shakariki #KyotoSenmaruShakariki #KyotoRamen #HadADeliciousTsukemenAfterALongTime

First visit. "Kyoto Senmaru Shakariki Honten" restaurant. August 19, 2023, Saturday. Walking from Nishiin to Nijo direction. It was hot today. Finally, I could visit the homework shop. "Kyoto Senmaru Shakariki Honten" restaurant. It's my first visit, so I went for the default tsukemen. 13:36 Arrival. Some vacant seats. Ordered. 13:49 Tsukemen arrived. 13:59 Paid. Left the restaurant. Tsukemen with rich seafood broth 990 yen Charred pork belly seaweed topping Free service Total 990 yen. Let's start with the noodles. The curly thick noodles are firm and have a strong wheat flavor due to low water content. Delicious. The rich yet light dipping broth had a perfect match of seafood and animal umami, making it delicious with the noodles. Finally, enjoyed the finishing touch with soup addition, savoring the seafood soup. Thank you for the meal. #KyotoSenmaruShakarikiHonten #SenbonMaruTachibana

I decided to go to Shakariki and checked their business hours on Gmap before visiting. However, they were temporarily closed. I tried again later and even confirmed by phone, but they were closed when they were supposed to be open. Checking on social media, I found that there were days with notices of temporary closure and days without. Even when I called on days without notices, nobody answered. They frequently posted job listings, so it seems they might be closed due to understaffing. Determined to go, I called once a day for 5-6 days until finally reaching them on the 6th day to confirm their hours. I went there and ordered the tsukemen. The rich broth paired well with the firm noodles. The dipping sauce was just right, not overly thick for tsukemen. Overall, it was delicious, but it can get a bit monotonous towards the end due to the lack of variety. It would be nice to have some kind of variation. Still, it had been a while since I visited Shakariki, and I was satisfied.

I visited this place known as a pioneer in spreading tsukemen. I tried their rich seafood broth tsukemen. As a pioneer, I had high expectations for something unique, but it turned out quite ordinary. The service was just okay. They mentioned they increased prices in June, which is understandable given the current situation. I hope they do well, especially since there were not many customers when I visited.

Kyoto Senmaru Shakariki Honten on Tabelog rating: 3.66 (as of posting date) "Tsukemen (Salt) (950 yen) with extra noodles (120 yen) and rice (200 yen) (extra noodles for free)" Points: Established in 2004, this tsukemen restaurant offers a choice of shoyu, salt, or rich seafood broth for the dipping noodles (rich seafood broth costs 1000 yen). In addition to tsukemen, they also serve ramen and abura soba, with occasional limited-time menu items available. Conveniently, they accept credit cards, electronic money, and QR code payments (payment at the counter). Located about a 10-minute walk from JR and subway Nijo Station. [Review and Impressions] This is the tsukemen from the main store of Shakariki located in Senbon Marutacho! With a branch on the basement floor of Kyoto Tower, and affiliated stores like Ichijoji Boogie in Ichijoji and Ichibariki at Kyoto Sangyo University's cafeteria, they are popular in a wide area north of Kyoto Station. The noodles are medium thickness, giving a slightly thinner impression compared to typical tsukemen noodles, but they are easy to slurp and go well with the rich soup! It's said to be consistently good. They sometimes offer limited-time menu items, and besides tsukemen, they also serve abura soba, so I'm thinking of trying the abura soba next time. Thank you for the meal. [Business Hours] 11:00-22:00 (Last Order 21:30) Closed on irregular days

This is also a visit during a business trip. I scolded myself for choosing this restaurant. I had the rich seafood tsukemen, but perhaps due to the local Kyoto style, it was not as rich as expected, rather mediocre. I thought it would be better to have it more refreshing. The service was also, you know, a bit lacking.

Order: Original oil-free ramen with extra noodles (860 yen). The noodles are medium thick curly noodles. The seasoned egg topping was delicious. I visited with a friend near closing time, but there were a few scenes that were concerning in terms of customer service.

Tonight's dinner was at "Kyoto Senmaru Shakariki Honten" in Senbon Marutamachi. It's a place I hadn't had a chance to check out before. I've eaten at their branch in Kyoto Tower Building's food court before. I came here today planning to have a second meal. First, I'll have the "Tsukemen Rich Seafood" please. I usually avoid the rich seafood type, but today I'm up for the challenge. Let's dig in. Despite being rich in seafood flavor, it's easy to eat and not overwhelming with fish powder. I can enjoy it even as someone who usually avoids this type. The toppings include chopped green onions, plenty of chashu, and menma. The menma has fibers running along its length, making it a bit difficult to eat. The taste is delicious. Hmm, I feel like someone who had tsukemen might find it hard to enjoy ramen back-to-back. Well, my stomach is quite full, so I'll savor the soup split. Thank you for the meal.

Visited on Sunday, December 4, 2022, a little after 5 pm for an early dinner at a delicious ramen shop that is open all day. There was only one other customer in the restaurant, probably because it's a bit out of the way, but it's empty at this time! Since it was cold today, I went for a rich and hearty ramen. The bowl arrived with a rich seafood-based soup that was delicious. Despite being described as rich, it was not difficult to eat at all. The thick noodles paired perfectly with the broth.

I went because the Tabelog score was high. I visited around 6 pm and was seated smoothly. It never got full afterwards. I ordered the Tsukemen with rich seafood broth (950 yen tax included), with a seasoned boiled egg (120 yen tax included) and extra noodles (120 yen tax included) as toppings. The thick and chewy noodles and surprisingly light seafood soup were quite ordinary. It left me with a feeling of neither good nor bad.

Around 11:30 on a weekday. Just the three of us. Ordered the Tsukemen Shoyu for 950 yen. We hesitated between the regular Tsukemen Bukkake and the special large serving, but decided to go with the default first. It seems that the Tsukemen Bukkake has a different soup flavor. Contrary to reviews saying that the service at Google was good, we didn't feel that way. The interior of the restaurant gave off a rather dark impression. The soup had a strong soy sauce flavor. There were no distinct sweet or sour notes, just an impression of a thicker soup meant for Tsukemen. Disappointing considering our expectations. The noodles were of medium thickness, not as satisfying as expected for Tsukemen. They didn't seem suitable for Tsukemen, lacking in both firmness and texture. It felt like the noodles were being overpowered by the broth. It was good we didn't opt for the large serving. The rumored oversized Menma topping was indeed difficult to eat and didn't leave a good impression. Reluctantly taking a bite of the large Menma, it absorbed a lot of the strong salty broth, resulting in an overly intense flavor. The balance was off and disappointing. The Chashu slices were large and tasty but didn't pair well with the noodles. There were no condiments provided, and the table's red pepper and pepper had large granules that didn't mix well and didn't complement the broth. Quite disappointing given our high expectations. Probably won't revisit. PayPay accepted.

Kyoto Senmaru Shakariki in Nijo. It seems to be a pioneer of Kyoto tsukemen. There were seats available. The ultra-rich seafood tsukemen (1,000 yen) with flavored egg (120 yen) was ready in 12 minutes. The soup is thick and rich. It's properly rich, but has a gentle mouthfeel, making it easy to eat and delicious! The menma is thick and difficult to eat in one bite. The enoki mushrooms are crunchy like eating one at a time. The chashu is thinly sliced and easy to eat, but I wanted to take a big bite of it. The flavored egg is not half-cooked. The noodles cannot be cooked to half-done. The pickled radish with garlic chives and chili peppers as a side dish is plentiful. The dipping sauce was delicious.

Rich seafood tsukemen for 950 yen. Happened to pass by and the tsukemen looked delicious, so I decided to try it. The noodles were thick and chewy, satisfying to eat. The soup was indeed rich in seafood flavor, just as the name suggests, which I liked! The pickles provided on the side were a perfect palate cleanser. I left feeling very full.

Located on the north side near the Senbon Marutamachi intersection in Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto City, it sits between Marutamachi Street and Rokkencho Street. The exterior has a simple yet blending-in appearance, while the interior exudes a clean and unadorned atmosphere. The menu mainly focuses on tsukemen, offering rich seafood, salt, soy sauce, and super-rich seafood options. The rich seafood tsukemen is served with thick curly noodles, and you can upgrade to a larger portion for an additional 120 yen. The rich seafood dipping sauce boasts a harmonious balance with a rich brown and opaque color, packed with deep umami flavors. The dipping sauce has a light and slightly grainy texture, showcasing a smooth blend of pork bone and seafood umami. The seafood flavor enhances the saltiness, delivering a delicate yet rich and flavorful taste. The toppings include chashu and menma soaked in the dipping sauce, while the noodles offer a chewy and elastic texture. The chashu features a flavorful lean cut, and the menma is tender with infused flavors. The extra soup is kept in a warming pot at the counter, offering a refreshing aroma of dashi. Known for popularizing tsukemen in Kyoto, this restaurant seems to be well-loved by customers from afar.

Visited around 8:40 PM on a weekday. No waiting time. Order-based system. Ordered the rich seafood tsukemen for 950 yen. Topped with seasoned egg using a coupon. Served in about 10 minutes. Self-serve for reheating the dipping sauce. The extra soup is in a pot on the table. The soup has a good seafood flavor and is light. The noodles are curly.

After drinking, head here for a meal. Two friends from the same hometown visited. We arrived at 9:28 pm on Friday and entered the restaurant. However, they were about to close immediately. Although their operating hours on Tabelog are until 11 pm, it seems like the last order is at 9:30 pm. That was a close call (sweating). I had a beer for a nightcap, one friend had ramen, and I ordered the super rich seafood ramen with a seasoned boiled egg. The super rich seafood ramen had a thick and rich soup just by looking at it. If we were to compare it to something in Kyoto, it's like a pork bone seafood version of the popular "Kyokko" chicken white broth with a thick consistency. The pork bone flavor is well brought out without any unpleasant smell, and the oil content is not too heavy, so you can keep going. The noodles are chewy medium-thick noodles that can handle the strong and thick soup well. My friend's ramen was refreshing but still packed with flavor. Although we visited for a nightcap meal, it's a ramen that would satisfy even if you came for lunch. Thank you for the meal!
