The Odakyu Line in Setagaya Ward is seeing a Starbucks offensive at stations and adjacent areas. From Higashisakawa to Kitami, it has become a treasure trove of chain cafes. Streamer ② (Higashisakawa, Setagaya-Daita), Doutor ② (Chitose-Funabashi, Soshigaya-Okura), Saint Marc ① (Gotokuji), Foresty ① (Seijo Gakuen-mae), McDonald's ① (Kitami), Starbucks ④ (Shimokitazawa, Kyodo, Umegaoka, Chitose-Funabashi). Currently, Starbucks is dominant. So what, you may think, but as I live in Setagaya, it caught my attention. If you step outside the station, there are even more, but this is just within the railway premises. My usual order of "Starbucks Latte S (409 yen)" and "American Waffle (264 yen)" - I just noticed it's excluding tax. So, the total is 740 yen. Umegaoka store has large tables. The proximity of the cash register and pick-up counter may not make it the most cozy place, but it might be convenient. There aren't many good cafes in Umegaoka. Taking a breather at the reliable Starbucks may become a regular thing here.

Visited at 2:20 PM on Saturday. Took a rest here after walking from Matsunaga Shrine in the hot weather. A long, narrow shop with an eat-in space right next to the station ticket gate. You can sit and observe people passing through the gate. I ordered drip coffee, ice, for here.

I have been eagerly anticipating the opening of Starbucks near my parents' house ever since I found out about it. Checking Twitter, I saw that the residents of Umegaoka were also excited, saying "Starbucks is finally opening in Umegaoka!" The opening of Starbucks is such happy news, even for those who are not die-hard fans! The location is right next to the Umegaoka station ticket gate, a spot where many cafes have come and gone in the past. On opening day at 9:00 am, the place was already packed! Upon entering, there is a counter table right at the entrance, and further inside, there is a spacious seating area. The staff, mostly veterans, were very efficient from taking orders to payment. The drink I ordered was an iced soy latte in a short size. The soy milk was mild and delicious, just like in other Starbucks stores. It may be over 400 yen, but the quality is worth it. It's such a joy to be able to have this every day (even though there is a Starbucks under my office building...). I finally remembered the sizes of drinks, so now I can order smoothly. With this, I might even be able to buy limited edition merchandise. I can finally try the sweets that I rarely had a chance to eat before! Umegaoka is not just about Midori Sushi! I hope Starbucks will become a part of this community and stay open for a long time. Thank you, Starbucks, for opening a store in Umegaoka!

Visited at 9:00 am on a regular day. There were about 6 groups waiting in line, and 90% of the seats were already taken. I'm mentioning it's a chain store because it just opened today~♪ I sat at the counter seats where you can see the station through the glass (or rather, they can see you from the other side haha). There are no AC outlets. I had some errands near the station, so I purposely brought them here on the opening day. Umejiga is quite important with facilities like the tax office and police station gathered around. The website says it's a "2-minute walk from the station," but it's more like "2 seconds from the station." It's right next to the ticket gate. Starbucks doesn't have a morning menu, but they have a special deal until 11:00 am where you can get a larger size drink when you order a specific drink + one of three food items. (Check the 3rd photo) I paid for a Short size and got a Tall size! ★ Starbucks Latte (Short size) 409 yen ★ Sausage Pie 328 yen A reliable Starbucks Latte! Even on the opening day, the staff were cheerful and provided quick service. Chain stores have their own charm, don't they? Odakyu, please bring one to Yoyogi-Hachiman too!
