A few years ago, I had a delicious parfait in Uji that I couldn't forget, and I've been wanting to eat it again but haven't had the chance. This time, I came to Kawaramachi instead of Uji, so I went to the store at Kyoto Station. It was in the evening, and when I asked about the waiting ticket number, there were still over 20 people waiting (*_*;) However, even though it said the wait time was over an hour, everyone wasn't waiting in front of the store, and the next numbers were being called quickly. Luckily, when it was my turn, only 20 minutes had passed! The menu varies by store, and at the Kyoto Station store, I had the "Maruto Parfait." There was also a limited-time Gyokuro Parfait, but it was sold out. It comes with Kyoto green tea. It has a unique aroma different from hojicha, and preferences may vary. It does have a strong smoky scent as written, making it feel like you're drinking smoke (lol). I forgot to check the usual parfait composition, sorry (^_^; The details are written for the limited parfait, but not for the regular ones. The matcha ice cream wasn't too bitter and had a perfect richness. The whipped cream tasted like cake and was exquisite. The most impressive part was the puff. It was crispy and delightful, almost like the main highlight of this parfait. Nakamura Tokichi's sweets are truly of high quality! Thank you for the meal.

I came to Nakamura Fujikichi, a highly regarded restaurant at Kyoto Station. You can enjoy sweets that are truly Kyoto-like, using matcha and hojicha. The combination of shiratama, red beans, and slightly bitter matcha jelly is a classic deliciousness as expected. Especially since you can also enjoy it as a takeout, I would like to buy it again when riding the Shinkansen. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I stopped by here on the 3rd floor of JR Kyoto Isetan connected from Kyoto Station. The location was a bit hard to find, but I managed to get there. It was a little after 3 pm on a weekday, with a wait of 5 groups, and we entered in about 20 minutes. While waiting, I looked at the menu and decided on the Seasonal Maruto Parfait for 1,650 yen. Most of the customers seemed to be foreigners, perhaps due to inbound influence, and the staff's service was very polite. The tea served at the beginning was sweet and delicious, and you can enjoy pouring hot water from the teapot afterwards. The Seasonal Maruto Parfait served was multi-layered with chestnuts, sweet potatoes, and jelly as shown in the 4th photo, and it was satisfyingly luxurious. It was delicious, thank you for the meal.

I visited around 8:00 PM on a holiday. The restaurant was about 60% full. While many people were eating parfaits, I ordered the hojicha jelly that caught my eye. The jelly itself was a bit mild in flavor, but when eaten with the hojicha ice cream, the hojicha flavor was really strong and it was very delicious. The place was open quite late, so I thought it was very convenient to be able to enjoy Japanese-style sweets leisurely.

Topped with hand-picked sweet tea leaves and a hint of green tea oil, enhancing the tea flavor, making it a unique soba dish. While eating, I noticed many customers around me were having parfaits. I regret not ordering the most popular item by accident.

I have tried the signature menu item, the green tea jelly, at the main store before, so this time at the Kyoto Station store, I ordered the seasonal Maruto parfait (autumn). After a short wait, it was served. It looked stylish, and the taste was as expected from the photo. Enjoying it with the welcome tea allowed me to feel Kyoto and have a wonderful time. If it's full, you can get a numbered ticket from the machine. I ordered the ❤️ Matcha Jelly [Matcha] for ¥1281 (tax included), a Kyoto Station exclusive menu. The matcha jelly, served on a separate plate with matcha ice cream, red beans, and chestnuts, was deliciously smooth. The matcha ice cream was especially tasty! The welcome tea is a cold-brewed Nakamura tea, which you can also enjoy hot by adding hot water from the second cup onwards. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal. I would love to visit again. Nakamura Tokichi at Kyoto Station has parfaits! I want to try them! But the line is crazy!! You can still enjoy their takeout jelly, which is similar to the parfaits. Plus, you don't have to wait in line. However, having the parfait is still nice. You can eat the jelly while looking at past parfait photos...

The parfait looked very delicious in the photo, so we ordered the Seasonal Maruto Parfait [Autumn] for 1,650 yen (tax included), which included cream, chiffon cake, chestnuts with skin, berries, chestnut sweet sauce, roasted green tea jelly, rice cracker, sweet potato, roasted green tea ice cream, and white rice cake. There may have been more ingredients as well. Starting with the cream and chiffon, then moving on to the crispy rice cracker, jelly, chestnuts, and more, the flavors kept changing one after another, making it enjoyable until the end. They provided cold brewed tea and a pot of hot water for making tea later, which was very satisfying.

For souvenirs from Kyoto, the shop opens at 11 o'clock. I passed the time until then, and when I came back just before opening, there was a long line (~_~;) But most of the customers were dining in the restaurant, so I was able to quickly make a purchase for takeout. I bought 3 packs of Matcha Jelly for 451 yen each and a Matcha Baumkuchen for 1,280 yen, then headed back to enjoy them! The Matcha Jelly, which I had at the Uji main store 5 years ago, is designed to last longer for takeout and is simpler compared to eating at the main store. It's delicious though. The Matcha Baumkuchen is moist with a rich matcha flavor that's satisfying to eat. Both would surely be well-received as souvenirs! (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)

I ordered cold tea soba and matcha parfait. I arrived at the location around 10:45 a.m. Although the opening time was 11 a.m., there was already a long line before opening. After 11 a.m., customers were allowed to enter the establishment. Chairs were provided for those waiting, so you could sit while waiting. However, depending on the length of the line, there may not be enough chairs for everyone waiting. The restaurant was full as soon as it opened. The soba was very delicious. Cold tea soba can be enjoyed in various ways. I thought it would be even better if they had soba broth. When I asked the staff, they said they don't serve soba broth. The parfait had a very stylish appearance. When I looked inside with a spoon, the first thing that appeared was something like matcha sponge cake. It also contained various toppings such as sweet red bean paste and rice flour dumplings. They were also selling limited-time shaved ice, so I thought I'd like to try that next time.

I used it while waiting for the Shinkansen. Since I had already eaten dinner, I had cold matcha. The cold and rich matcha with ice floating in it was so delicious that it made the fatigue of the day's journey disappear. The baked sweets that came with it also paired very well with the matcha.

I tried the matcha jelly dessert (around 1300 yen). The tea served before the dishes arrived was delicious, and it was a great service to be able to enjoy 3 to 4 cups from the pot. As expected from a tea shop, it was delicious. The matcha jelly had a volume more than it appeared, and the jelly with a strong tea flavor was very tasty. It paired perfectly with the matcha ice cream.

I went around 2 p.m. on a holiday and received a numbered ticket. The display showed a 102-minute wait, but I actually waited for about an hour. When I sat down, I was served a welcome tea. I ordered the Maru and Matcha Parfait. It was not only cute in appearance but also delicious from top to bottom, and was made in a way that I wouldn't get tired of it. Thank you for the meal.
