Moved from Hikoyasu to Gion. Visited Affinage in Gion, the second Gion bar, for the first time. It's a compact shop with only a counter on the first floor of a mixed-use building in Gion. Although it's a wine bar, they are also known for their delicious fruit cocktails. I heard they have a Bellini glass with white wine and homemade pudding with ripe peaches, so I went with the Bellini. When I tried it, it was the best taste of the season! The refreshing taste of sparkling wine and the elegant sweetness of ripe peaches harmonized perfectly. My companion had white wine paired with the pudding. This was also a wonderful pairing. The pudding was subtly sweet, with a caramel that had a bitter adult taste. Although there is only one master, the food and desserts seem quite authentic. By the way, the charm made with prosciutto was delicious, cut from the original log.

This restaurant mainly serves fruit cocktails and wine. The biggest feature of this place is the authentic dishes made by the master chef. The cuisine is mainly French, and although I did not try it, I saw Beef Bourguignon served at the next table. If you want to have a truly authentic meal, why not order the 8000 yen full course meal with 8 glasses of wine, called the "Mariage" for 8000 yen. It is said to take about 3 hours, so it's best to visit when you have plenty of time. Additionally, the master chef is from the Kanto region, so even travelers can feel comfortable dining here.

I went to Affinage for the second time. I was too full this time to order food, which was disappointing, but I ordered a fruit cocktail again. This time it was with melon and Shine Muscat grapes. It was still incredibly delicious!! I want to come earlier next time and enjoy a meal.♡

I visited this recommended restaurant by my friend after having about 2 hours of free time before the meal. It is a friendly bar with a counter where a very friendly master is present. The food is also said to be excellent. This time, I had melon cocktail, peach cocktail, and homemade quiche. The melon cocktail was visually stunning and shocking! It was my first time having a cocktail served with a spoon. They make it right in front of you from fresh melon. It was so delicious that I wanted to drink it without using a spoon. The peach cocktail also had a thick texture, allowing you to directly feel the fruit. The homemade quiche was also incredibly delicious! It was so good that I wanted to eat the whole thing as a snack. I thought that the food must be really delicious as well after having the quiche. They have a wide variety of alcohol and food options, so I definitely want to visit again when I come to Kyoto.

The restaurant name "Affinage" means "aging". There is a usage charge of 500 yen for two people. No service charge. Seasonal fruit cocktails (melon) 2500 yen Seasonal fruit cocktails (mandarin orange) 2500 yen Seasonal fruit cocktails (strawberry) 2500 yen Seasonal fruit cocktails (passion fruit) 2500 yen Homemade Kojikoji Quiche 500 yen. This place was the perfect ending to our Kyoto gourmet expedition. It seems to be quite popular, with some days requiring reservations to get in. Some customers come here specifically for the sweets. This time, our gourmet friends made a reservation for us, and we visited on a Saturday at 10 pm. The entrance gives off an exclusive vibe, but once inside, the kind master warmly welcomed us. He is Mr. Kojima, also known as Kojikoji (the menu is full of Kojikoji names). We ordered the seasonal fruit cocktails. As the name suggests, the fruits change depending on the season. On that day, they had melon, mandarin orange, strawberry, and passion fruit. I ordered melon and my partner ordered mandarin orange. The melon was served in its own hollowed-out shell, making it a delightful experience to scoop out and eat. The cocktail was so gentle that you could hardly taste the alcohol, it was all about the melon. After enjoying some appetizers and quiche, we decided to go all out and ordered the passion fruit and strawberry cocktails. I like the seeds in passion fruit, but if you have trypophobia, it might not be for you. As we chatted about trivial things, we ended up missing the last train. Ah, the folly of youth. Being young is truly wonderful!!!

Located a 5-6 minute walk from Sanjo Keihan and also near Gion Shijo, this bar on the first floor of a building along Hanami Koji has a sophisticated evening atmosphere. It is popular for its delicious fruit cocktails and sweets. Many people visit for sweets during the day as well. I went around 10 p.m. on a Saturday night. The entrance with just a door on the wall gives a slightly hard-to-open vibe, but once inside, the extremely friendly master warmly welcomes you. It always seems quite full, but luckily there were relatively empty seats on this day. We ordered all four of the day's fresh fruits - pineapple, melon, passion fruit, and strawberry - with my companion. All of them were light on alcohol, strong on fruitiness, and delicious. The melon cocktail was a luxurious treat, using half a melon as a container. We also tried the quiche, which was delicious! There were various sweets like Basque cheesecake that looked delicious, so I definitely want to come back for more. The master is truly kind and creates a cozy atmosphere.

They welcomed us with a very gentle atmosphere and warm smiles. Not only the drinks we had were delicious, but also the homemade snacks were amazingly tasty! I would love to try their quiche and other dishes next time. I wish this place was closer... as I reluctantly headed home.

I visited in January. It had been a while since I last visited. I called for a reservation on the day, and Afinaaju-san politely declined as there was almost no availability. It was a miracle that they had an opening that day, and I was able to visit. They had four types of fruit cocktails prepared, but I chose the apple champagne cocktail because I wanted to see the style of being hollowed out. The food and desserts are also excellent, so it seems like a wonderful place to use for various occasions. I want to cherish it and visit it often. The budget is around 5,000 yen.

This is a bar located in the bustling area of Kyoto. I visited this day and used the à la carte menu. Affinage is famous for its fruit cocktails. In November, they had a lineup of Aomori apples, pears, La France pears, Shine Muscat grapes, and figs. I tried the fig cocktail and it was truly figgy! Rich and filling, it's a delight. The apples and persimmons are served in a fruit bowl, making them visually appealing. The bread is from Hanakago in Kyoto on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and from Mr. Matsuoka in Saitama on other days. My favorite was the quiche! I got to see it in a whole state since I was the first customer. They cooked oysters in champagne and white wine with mushroom duxelles and parsley sprinkled on top. They then reheated it until it melted. The cheese pasta was also rich and delicious. They spread it with mascarpone instead of heavy cream, so it's not too heavy. Served with wine-soaked bread, it's a perfect match for wine. Since I visited alone, they served me a half portion at the same price. The Coji Chocolat had a cold part in front and a warm part in the back. The white chocolate mousse was luscious and delicious! The custard had a firm texture and a slightly bitter caramel taste. For groups of two or more, you can also order a course meal. Whether you enjoy a meal at the first stop or cocktails at the second stop, it's all good! The restaurant was fully booked after 7 p.m., so reservations are recommended. The menu items I tried that day: - Fig cocktail 2,200 yen - Table charge 500 yen - Brioche with butter, raw cheese, raw ham, butter squash puree - Homemade Coji Coji quiche, oysters 500 yen - Organic butter squash potage 500 yen - Blue cheese and mascarpone short pasta 3,000 yen - Enchanting Coji Chocolat with mascarpone mousse 500 yen - Custard 500 yen [Business hours] 5:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. [Closed] Mondays [Advance reservation] Recommended [Budget] 5,000 yen and up [Address] 1F Hanamikai-kan Teikan, 244-1 Nakanocho, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto City #KyotoGourmet #GionShijoGourmet #Affinage #CojiCojiQuiche #EnchantingCojiChocolat #CheeseLover #HighlyRatedOnTabelog #FoodiesUnite #GourmetInstagram #LookingForFoodieFriends #InstaWorthyFood #kyoto #gionshijo #affinage #fruitscocktail #kyotobar #foodporn #genic_pic #tokyofoodie #followme #yumyum #yumyumkyoto

I visited Afinaaju, a famous wine bar in Kyoto known for its delicious fresh fruit cocktails, after a very satisfying dinner. I tried their persimmon and pear cocktails, which were served in the fruit itself. The cocktails were well-balanced and delicious, with unique flavors that I enjoyed. The ham and mascarpone bruschetta and caramel mascarpone rusks were also delightful. The atmosphere was cozy, and the bartender was friendly and accommodating. I would definitely recommend this bar for a relaxing evening out.

After visiting the nearby Sasaki-produced sushi restaurant "Sushi Rakumi," we were welcomed by the master in a bow tie at this bar. It's a small place with only a counter. The atmosphere is very nice, as we were brought by a landlord from Kyoto. It's a hidden gem of a bar tucked away in the back of a building, known only to a select few. Knowing about it makes you feel a bit proud. The "Fruit Cocktail (market price)" is served in a unique way - half a melon is cut and the flesh is scooped out to use as a cup. The melon cocktail is poured into it, and then champagne is added right in front of you. The master's beautiful craftsmanship! The refreshing aroma of melon and the clean sweetness of the drink make for a luxurious pairing. When I visited in October, it was a melon champagne cocktail, but it seems that seasonal fruits are used depending on the time of year. The other wine pairings were also delicious.

It's been years since my last visit. I completely forgot that this is a wine bar and as soon as I sat down, I ordered a highball. The very kind master informed me that they only have one type of whiskey. My companion pointed out that this is a wine bar. It was quite an embarrassing start. After expressing our preferences, we enjoyed a selection of champagne, white, and red wines. The master was very considerate, and I would like to visit again.

A wine bar located near the intersection of Hanamikoji Street and Shinmonzen Street. It has a high rating of 3.66 on Tabelog (as of November 23, 2022). I had two glasses of champagne. First was the Blanc de Blanc (Thierry Bourmault Silver Class Blanc de Blancs Brut Premier Cru), with aromas and flavors of green apple and citrus. While nibbling on prosciutto, I had the Blanc de Noirs (Henriet Bazin Blanc de Noirs Grand Cru) as the second glass. I remember a hint of sweetness and aroma of dried fruits, with a slight bitterness. It was delicious, but maybe the gas was a bit too much. The charm of the place was impressive with elaborate offerings. The prosciutto wasn't top-notch, a bit thickly sliced with mediocre texture. This aspect seemed to match the price point. The selection of wines by the glass is wide, and the food menu is substantial enough for a hearty meal. However, the limited space meant that the aroma of others' dishes filled the room. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was very cozy.

A specialty bar located along the Shirakawa River in Gion, offering French wines and fruit cocktails. Run by the very friendly Master Kojima, who previously worked at renowned restaurants in Kyoto and Saitama, the bar has only 8 counter seats. It attracts a mature clientele and provides a relaxing atmosphere to unwind after a long day. Jazz music plays in the background, featuring artists like John Coltrane and Bill Evans. The bar exclusively offers French champagne and wines, with prices ranging from 1500 to 3000 yen per glass. The wine list is displayed on a board, making it easy for beginners to choose based on region and price. Fruit cocktails are also popular, with the melon cocktail made with champagne being a favorite, though the fruits used vary by season. The cocktails are easy to drink yet have a complex depth of flavors. The food menu offers a range of options at reasonable prices, all of which are authentic and may leave you undecided on what to order. The ham is freshly cut and served on the spot. While you can order dishes individually like at a regular bar, making a reservation in advance allows for a course-style service with wine and food pairings. The entire establishment is non-smoking, and it is said that many geishas and women from the entertainment district frequent the bar after work.

A wine bar located in Gion Shira-kawa. In addition to enjoying champagne and wine by the glass, various fruit cocktails using seasonal fruits are highly praised. Especially impressive are the cocktails that boldly use fruit as a vessel, making a significant visual impact. In July, they use half a summer fruit melon and juice the flesh with a juicer. The melon is used as a vessel, filled with sparkling wine, and enjoyed with a spoon like a chilled soup. The combination of 100% melon juice and sparkling wine is outstanding, and you can also enjoy scraping the flesh from the vessel to your liking. The wines, mainly from France, are the stars of the show. They also offer a selection of charms and snacks with attention to detail. Despite its compact size, the cozy atmosphere is secluded from the hustle and bustle of the entertainment district, and the owner's service is refined. A very good restaurant.
