If you want to go to a high-quality izakaya in Fukuoka, KAYU is the place to go. Make a reservation for four people in Nakasu. Starting with a draft beer for 650 yen, then move on to sweet potato shochu on the rocks. The appetizers are all well-suited for both drinks: - Appetizer (grilled corn and garlic butter grilled scallops) - Sashimi platter (amberjack, spear squid, scallops, botan shrimp, medium fatty tuna, grilled barracuda, horse mackerel, horse mackerel, grilled sardines) & a little whale sashimi (whale, chirping, bacon, momo hiro) - Pork trotter steak for 1200 yen - KAYU's hatos for 950 yen - Grilled eel for 2950 yen - Chikuwa potato salad for 700 yen - Tempura (scallop, lotus root shrimp, hairtail, boiled octopus, raw whitebait, megochi, etc.) - Tempura rice balls and sake - Tanaka 65 Junmai for 750 yen - Jikou Special Junmai starting from 750 yen, and various types of shochu First, the quality of the sashimi platter will get you excited. KAYU's whale sashimi is seriously delicious. Don't miss the melt-in-your-mouth pork trotter steak and the irresistible aroma of shrimp surimi in KAYU's hatos. The fishy aroma of chikuwa mixed with potatoes is also a must-try! The tempura quality and variety are outstanding. After trying scallops wrapped in seaweed and raw whitebait, you'll find yourself ordering another sweet potato shochu on the rocks. I thought about getting the tempura rice bowl for dessert, but I resisted and congratulated myself for choosing the tempura rice balls instead. A variety of exquisite sashimi, Kyushu-style dishes, and tempura. It's rare to find a place where you can enjoy such a wide range of amazing appetizers. Thank you for the delicious meal.

The compact restaurant we visited had a full house with 3 tables and a counter. The menu was very extensive and just looking at it was enjoyable. Each dish was small in portion size, making it perfect for those who want to try a variety of dishes or for pairing with drinks. Everything was delicious.

On Wednesday at 6:30 PM, I entered the restaurant with 4 counter seats and 4 tables for 4 people each. The friendly master and kind hostess make everything taste incredibly delicious. I love this place. The last time I logged in was in 2014! I must have forgotten to log in between then. In any case, I've gotten older. It was good to go after a long time. Thank you for the delicious meal!

During a business trip to Fukuoka, I visited the restaurant "Kayu" for a dinner with my business partner. The restaurant is located in the Nishi Nakasu area, about a 5-minute walk from Nakasu Kawabata Station. We had made a reservation a few days in advance and arrived at 7:00 pm. The restaurant had a cozy and casual atmosphere with a lively vibe. We were seated at a table for two and were presented with a wide variety of dishes on the menu, with a focus on deep-fried items. We started the evening with a toast of draft beer and enjoyed a delicious meal. Here is what we ordered in order: - Appetizer: Me-hikari (a type of fish) marinated in Nanban sauce. - Sashimi platter: A selection of sashimi including Japanese barracuda, gizzard shad, spear squid, golden eye snapper, and flounder. - Deep-fried mantis shrimp x 2: Mantis shrimp, also known as "majaku" in Japan, deep-fried to perfection. - Homemade spicy lotus root: The best spicy lotus root I've ever had, with the perfect balance of spiciness and sweetness. - Fried ginkgo nuts: It's ginkgo nut season, so we had to order this dish. - Kayu's "hatoshi": A cute presentation of a traditional dish from Nagasaki. - Homemade satsuma-age: Deep-fried fish cake with soy sauce, perfect for pairing with alcohol. We enjoyed the food along with some drinks, and the total bill for two people came to 14,300 yen. Considering the location in Nishi Nakasu, the restaurant offers great value for money. The service was excellent, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. With a wide variety of menu items that are regularly updated, Kayu is a place where you can always enjoy a new experience. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant!

In the hot summer of 2022, who cares about difficult things! As long as there is delicious food and a great atmosphere, it's paradise♪ Starting with the appetizer of pickled plum shells and baby squid, followed by a sashimi platter with various fish, whole potato salad, smoked mackerel, fried flying fish, fried conger eel with corn, tempura with natto and rock oysters, and a variety of tempura. The baby squid in the appetizer is a fantastic starter! The usual flow is always comforting, and even though I tend to order the same things, it's always delicious. The highlight is the fried dishes from the flying fish, which is the essence of "kayu." I want to keep coming back to this place, with its amazing taste and cozy atmosphere. Amber beer is perfect for nights like this!

The homemade tsukune soup with mentaiko, assorted herring roe sashimi, foie gras miso-marinated, butter-grilled cod milt, swordfish tartare, black pepper-grilled beef cheek, and hotate tempura were all delicious! The foie gras miso-marinated is a perfect dish to pair with alcohol, but even for non-drinkers like me, it was exquisite. The cod milt was rich and melted in the mouth, while the beef cheek was flavorful and tender. I'm curious about the fried chicken too. Despite being a bit pricey for an izakaya, everything was delicious and the restaurant is definitely worth a visit. In addition to the tempura, which is the owner's specialty, there are many other enticing dishes that make it hard to choose.

There is a counter and table seating, and the place is not very spacious. The food here is all incredibly delicious! From sashimi to tempura. The most impressive dish was the potato salad, made in a unique way and very tasty! On this day, we had seared golden eye snapper, seared beltfish, smoked herring roe, potato salad, foie gras daikon, tempura of shrimp, sand lance fish, conger eel, red snapper scales, sea urchin and shiso roll, celery, smelt roe, scallop tempura, deep-fried cherry tomato skewers, and mehikari tempura. I want to go again but it's hard to get a reservation... it's a popular restaurant!

When things settle down in Kannazuki 2021, it's a must for a man to go to a special place he cherishes. The menu is written on blackboards, with a variety of sashimi and tempura options. It's best to leave it up to the chef for the sashimi, always featuring a selection of whale dishes based on the day's catch. For tempura, go with the seasonal recommendations or choose your own preferences. Every dish is delicious, no matter what you order. It's truly a fantastic place with amazing flavors and a cozy atmosphere. It's my go-to spot every time!

This day was a dinner with guests from Edo♪ I wanted to try this restaurant for a while, but I was unsure if they could accommodate 6 people! I asked a certain squad leader, and he not only confirmed that they could but also made a reservation for us!(^^)! We arrived at the restaurant 10 minutes before the 6 pm start time, and the owner opened the door for us a few minutes early♪ At 6 pm, everyone gathered and we made a toast♪ We ordered a sashimi platter with whale included, which was unbelievably delicious! The variety of sashimi was also surprisingly high quality! When we heard that they had Iwagaki oysters from Goto, we ordered 3 pieces each! They were creamy and incredibly tasty, definitely the best Iwagaki oysters we've had this year!! Some of us wanted to try the steak, so we ordered Ichibo and Sagari cuts, which were also delicious! We tried a few recommended drinks from the owner, and ended up ordering more and more. We also added a tempura platter with Maguro Karaage, which was a unique and tasty dish that some of us had never tried before. Despite drinking quite a bit, we were very satisfied with the restaurant and had a great time!(^^ゞ

In June 2021, Un! If you like it, keep coming back!! This is the true connection between customers and the restaurant, right♪ Definitely try the sashimi platter and tempura here. Let's include premium whale in the sashimi platter♡ For tempura, choose based on the season or your own preference that day. The fresh horse mackerel unique to Kyushu is also amazing⤴︎... The smiles of the landlady and the master are also an important seasoning♪

In June 2021, this restaurant is truly amazing no matter what you eat. Today, I ordered the sashimi platter and tempura platter as always and enjoyed a sake festival. The smoked mackerel was so delicious that I couldn't help but praise it, and the sake kept flowing. Another satisfying day at this wonderful restaurant. It was so bright that I didn't want to leave.

At Nakasu Kawabata, there is a tempura restaurant called Kayu. When you come to Fukuoka, this is a place you must visit. Although it may not look like much from the outside, the owner and staff are very friendly. We started with a plum wine on the rocks. The meal began with a serving of sea bream roe and shirako. Sea bream seems to be a common dish in Fukuoka. Next, we had sesame mackerel. The sesame sauce seemed a bit strong, perhaps due to the recent trend of lighter flavors. We also enjoyed a sashimi platter with whale, mackerel, saury, bacon, and white croaker. Whale is a must-try here. The saury sashimi impressed those of us who had never tried it before. We paired our meal with rock sake. We also tried the rare delicacy of deep-fried mantis shrimp from Ariake Sea. The flavor was similar to what eels enjoy. We wished there were more dishes like fried fish roll, but it's not the right season. The chicken nanban made with Arita chicken had a thick sauce. To cleanse our palate, we were served cucumber salad and boiled "pi" from Omura. Another highlight was the eel from Yanagawa. It was small but had a firm skin and delicious fat underneath. Lastly, we had a customizable tempura platter with conger eel, clams, salted sea urchin with shiso leaf, lotus root, lotus root with shrimp, chicken tenderloin, and a luxurious helping of minced fish. There were three types of salt to accompany the tempura. This restaurant is so good that it's hard to resist overeating.

In December 2020, this restaurant is the best with delicious fish and great side dishes. Their sashimi platter always includes whale, which for some reason stands out with its deliciousness. The seasonal tempura is also amazing today. I've tried various dishes, but the side dishes for sake are also outstanding! I may have had too much sake, I'm already walking sideways in the restaurant haha. Oh, they're open today! Exciting! ❤️

The request from the trading partner in February 2020 is "an izakaya where you can eat delicious fish!!" Sounds good!! It might not exactly be called an izakaya, but more like a high-ranked izakaya in terms of atmosphere. "Sashimi platter (with whale) & tempura (featuring seasonal mountain vegetables)" sounds great♪ They can arrange the sashimi platter in various ways, but the whale sashimi here is seriously delicious♪ The tempura, with a touch of a more casual feel, is also enjoyable♡ The selection of drinks to accompany the meal is extensive, and you can have a great time with the sake festival on this day♪ Comfort is important! Creating that comfort is not only the responsibility of the restaurant, but also requires thoughtful consideration from the customers, which is the most important aspect♪... Now, should we cross the Naka River and get lost in the neon lights? (laughs) *I ended up spending more than I intended due to drinking too much (sweat)*

Fresh greenery in 2019 is here again~ It's really perfect for casual small group entertaining♫ This day was my first time entertaining a new client, so I hardly took any photos haha. Of course, as usual, enjoyed the seasonal dishes starting with the "sashimi platter (whale arrangement)" and then the "seasonal tempura assortment" while savoring Japanese sake♡ ...I made a reservation at a restaurant based on the preferences of my client from Nakasu, so it was a perfect fit!

In spring 2019, the go-to place is "I want to eat delicious tempura with delicious fish!!" Absolutely!! Honestly, there are not many high-end tempura restaurants in Fukuoka, as it is known for its casual tempura culture. But at this restaurant, you can enjoy not only the best tempura but also delicious fish and other creative dishes. The "Sashimi Platter (with whale)" is a must-order for sashimi, as the whale adds a unique touch. The freshness of the fish and the extra care put into the dishes are truly impressive. The "Assorted Tempura (Spring Vegetables version)" is a healthy option that captures the essence of spring. The crispy tempura goes perfectly with sake. And don't miss out on the unexpected "Grilled Eel" or the meat dishes. The variety of options allows you to enjoy a range of flavors. It's true that we tend to stick to our favorite restaurants, right? It's not just about the number of dishes you try, there's something more to it. Of course, I'll be heading to the other side of the Nakagawa River! 😊😊

On this day, I visited "Kayu Bishoku" in Nishi Nakasu. It's located about 4-5 minutes from Nakasu Kawabata Station. The order included whale sashimi, bacon, and stomach, as well as fried horse mackerel with tartar sauce, Nagasaki's famous "hatoshi" sandwich, homemade dried mullet roe, and tempura. The food was delicious and the sake was enjoyable. Looking forward to the next visit!

Kyuubisuisaku in Nishinakasu, about 5 minutes from Nakasu Kawabata Station in Fukuoka, was highly recommended by my foodie friends. We decided to visit with a group of 4 for a pre-trip celebration. We reserved a sashimi platter with whale meat included, and ordered other dishes a la carte. The tempura and fried foods were also excellent, but be careful not to order too many fried items! The sashimi platter exceeded our expectations, with beautifully seared Kinmedai and a variety of whale meats to enjoy. The ham katsu and chikuwa salad were also delicious, making for a perfect drinking atmosphere. The sesame mackerel was flavorful and generous in portion. We ended up overspending a bit due to drinking too much, but I think a more moderate meal would cost around 6000-7000 yen per person. Overall, a fantastic restaurant that I would love to visit again.

[2019.02 Yumeyume Pre-Festival♪] On a weekend Yumeyume tour in Fukuoka, enjoying Kumamoto's local chicken (Red Koi Chicken) and Saga's Genkai Sea seafood, I arrived in Fukuoka on Thursday to finish some work and have detailed information exchange with the staff (although there are rumors that we just drank: sweat), and then on Friday, just when I was thinking about going to a cheap bar, I received an invitation to come here. Without hesitation, I decided to join and went there. In the middle of a splendid sashimi platter were various parts of whale, delicious! I had a 1000 yen horse mackerel fry and a 950 yen ham cutlet, which were different from those at the cheap bars, while enjoying (sorry for the low level of writing) a beer that quickly evaporated after the initial sashimi platter and then switched to Tanaka 65, which was also delicious and kept going and going: boom! [Food Consumed] - Assorted sashimi (market price?): Ordered in advance with a luxurious content. In the middle were whale sashimi (back, chirp, hundred hiro, bacon) surrounded by fatty tuna, flathead, marinated mackerel, golden eye snapper, and more. - Chikuwa potato salad fry (650 yen): An interesting combination but delicious. - Grilled shiitake mushrooms (850 yen): Thick and delicious. - Horse mackerel fry (1000 yen): The most expensive horse mackerel fry I've ever had! - Unzen ham cutlet (950 yen): Ham cutlet fans would be ecstatic! - Sesame mackerel (market price): You can't leave Fukuoka without trying this. - Grilled conger eel (1850 yen): Delicious grilled conger eel is a sign of freshness. - Cucumber pickles (450 yen): Part of the pickles trio. - Celery pickles (500 yen): Part of the pickles trio. - Eggplant pickles (650 yen): Part of the pickles trio. The payment was 10,000 yen per person, and we also drank a lot of alcohol, which may have contributed to the high cost, perhaps due to excessive cold sake. I felt a little sorry for my fellow diners afterwards.

At the end of 2018, most of the big year-end parties are coming to an end, and now it's time for casual year-end parties with close business partners. A group of four middle-aged men are looking to eat some delicious fish at a high-quality restaurant with a seasonal vibe. The host, also known as the entertainment expert, arrives 15 minutes early and eagerly waits for the others. They order a variety of sashimi, including one with whale meat, which is a must-try here. The thick and high-quality cuts of fish are excellent. They also order the classic deep-fried mackerel and are impressed by the perfect balance of crispiness and seasoning. The fried oysters and grilled cod milt with butter are also recommended dishes during this season. Everyone enjoys the food and the sake flows freely. They also order a selection of tempura dishes, choosing a variety of fish and vegetables. Despite being a tempura restaurant, the non-tempura dishes here are equally delicious, sometimes overshadowing the tempura itself. Overall, they leave satisfied and decide to try another place next time since this one is fully booked.
