If you want to go to a high-quality izakaya in Fukuoka, KAYU is the place to go. Make a reservation for four people in Nakasu. Starting with a draft beer for 650 yen, then move on to sweet potato shochu on the rocks. The appetizers are all well-suited for both drinks:
- Appetizer (grilled corn and garlic butter grilled scallops)
- Sashimi platter (amberjack, spear squid, scallops, botan shrimp, medium fatty tuna, grilled barracuda, horse mackerel, horse mackerel, grilled sardines) & a little whale sashimi (whale, chirping, bacon, momo hiro)
- Pork trotter steak for 1200 yen
- KAYU's hatos for 950 yen
- Grilled eel for 2950 yen
- Chikuwa potato salad for 700 yen
- Tempura (scallop, lotus root shrimp, hairtail, boiled octopus, raw whitebait, megochi, etc.)
- Tempura rice balls and sake
- Tanaka 65 Junmai for 750 yen
- Jikou Special Junmai starting from 750 yen, and various types of shochu
First, the quality of the sashimi platter will get you excited. KAYU's whale sashimi is seriously delicious. Don't miss the melt-in-your-mouth pork trotter steak and the irresistible aroma of shrimp surimi in KAYU's hatos. The fishy aroma of chikuwa mixed with potatoes is also a must-try! The tempura quality and variety are outstanding. After trying scallops wrapped in seaweed and raw whitebait, you'll find yourself ordering another sweet potato shochu on the rocks. I thought about getting the tempura rice bowl for dessert, but I resisted and congratulated myself for choosing the tempura rice balls instead. A variety of exquisite sashimi, Kyushu-style dishes, and tempura. It's rare to find a place where you can enjoy such a wide range of amazing appetizers. Thank you for the delicious meal.
