"Restaurant Georges Marceau" in Fukuoka City is a large grand maison with 24 seats. As the name suggests, it is an elegant and well-serviced restaurant. I was surprised when I made a reservation for lunch. The cheapest A course is set at 2900 yen. It includes an amuse-bouche, soup, main dish, and dessert. The owner chef, Koichi Konishi, trained at the French restaurant "Che Georges Marceau" in Kokubunji, so he named his own restaurant after that one. The restaurant in Kokubunji no longer exists. I had the A course. Despite being a cheap course, it was carefully prepared. And since the chef also runs a patisserie, the dessert selection was quite impressive. The amuse-bouche was a gougère, a choux pastry mixed with cheese and filled with carrot mousse. I ordered red wine in a glass right away, which paired well with the cheese flavor of the gougère. The soup was a cabbage and shimeji mushroom potage served in a large dish with milk foam. It was a smooth and delicious potage. The main dish was red snapper poêlé with parsley and butter sauce. It came with couscous, ratatouille sauce, and various vegetables as sides. My daughter had the B course, which is priced at 3900 yen. It had a different menu from the A course. First, the same potage was served in a cup, followed by a luxurious appetizer with scallop poêlé, marinated vegetables, fried yam, and a salad with basil and shallot sauce. At the next table, a couple seemed to have been there before, and when the salad was served, the man proudly told the woman, "The salad here is amazing!" It was quite heartwarming. The main dish for the B course was flounder, with slightly different side dishes. The dessert, common to both A and B courses, included persimmon compote jelly, milk ice cream, and apple and sweet potato tart. It was quite fulfilling. Even though I had the A course and ate some delicious bread along the way, I ended up feeling full during the dessert. It's a classic and delicious French cuisine overall. The price is quite reasonable, offering a sense of value. Even young couples unfamiliar with French cuisine can enjoy it with peace of mind, as it provides a luxurious atmosphere, making it perfect for special occasions like anniversaries. I am exploring delicious restaurants all over Japan."
