One of the top long-standing ramen shops in Fukuoka. Currently run by the third generation. While there are many second-generation shops in the prefecture, third-generation ones are not as common. Being the original, they serve a rare traditional Hakata-style ramen. The biggest feature is the flat thin noodles. Only a few places like Hakuryuken in Mado or Hakata's Issou and Kurume's Men Shu originally used these noodles. Places like Ichijo in Hakata or Men Shu in Kurume started with flat thin noodles but eventually changed to thinner noodles like Nagahama. It's a valuable shop where you can enjoy flat thin noodles. In addition to ramen, they also offer stir-fried and deep-fried set meals similar to local Chinese restaurants. I always end up ordering ramen, but I would like to try their set meal someday.
- Ramen Set Meal ¥780: Includes a regular ramen, half fried rice, and 3 gyoza. It's a very reasonable price. The ramen has a strong pork bone aroma, with a rough but charming soup. The dark soy sauce base has a nostalgic taste. The rich oily film on top reminds me of Tamana Ramen. The noodles are flat thin noodles with a light chewy texture that stretches easily, so it's recommended to order them firm. The chashu and shinachiku are lightly flavored, balancing well with the rich soup. It's undeniably delicious. Extra noodles cost ¥130. The fried rice has a simple flavor and is mostly rice with ham, egg, kamaboko, and green onions. It's simple but tasty. The gyoza has a lot of vegetables in the sweet filling and a uniform thickness of skin. It's decent.
- Plum Jelly ¥350: Tastes as expected, cheap, plentiful, no complaints.
- Highball ¥400: The whiskey brand is unknown, slightly sweet and easy to drink. It might be diluted as it doesn't make you too drunk, but it's a flavor you'll like.

I ordered the ramen set meal. It costs 780 yen and comes with 3 gyoza and half a fried rice, which is a great deal. I came from Kansai, but I can't find this quality and value in ramen there. Among Hakata tonkotsu ramen, this one had a strong soy sauce flavor, making it easy for the noodles to mix with the broth, and they complemented each other perfectly.

#Original Akano Renjo-chan Ramen Menma Ramen Fukuoka Tonkotsu Tour Part 2 takes us to a long-established shop. The light tonkotsu broth with ultra-thin flat noodles. It's easy to eat with minimal pork bone odor. Personally, my favorite taste. This place will definitely be a must-visit whenever I go to Fukuoka. Thank you for the meal! #Ramen #Noodles #Foods #RamenClub #NoodleLife #Noodlestagram #RamenInstagrammer

Ramen preferences may vary, but in my opinion, Hakata ramen is the best. The flat noodles are light and easy to eat, with a delicious flavor. I ordered the ramen set on weekdays for 780 yen, which came with half fried rice and 3 gyoza, making it a great deal. I also added an extra serving of noodles for 130 yen.

A friend recommended that I should try the ramen at this place when I go to Fukuoka, so I went there aiming for the opening time at 11:30. However, there was already a line. The turnover was fast, so I waited a bit and then got in. I often go to Akai Renn in Nishi-Azabu, so I thought it might be similar, but the soup was a bit richer and the noodles were slightly flatter, which mixed well with the soup. The portion was quite generous, and I ordered the set meal with half fried rice and gyoza, but it was so much that I thought I might not be able to finish it (and I am usually a big eater). The soup had a rich flavor that was somehow addictive, and I found myself wanting to eat it again the next day. I will definitely go back when I visit Fukuoka again!

I wanted to try this ramen shop for a while. I arrived around 11 o'clock and had to wait for about 15 minutes before entering the restaurant. It seemed like I got in during the second round as they open at 11 o'clock. I ordered the ramen set (regular ramen + half fried rice + 3 gyoza) for 780 yen. It's a popular shop, and the price is quite cheap for this era. (When I left, there were about 20 people waiting in line.) The ramen was served in about 10 minutes. First, let's talk about the ramen. It looked delicious. And the taste? Yes, it was delicious! I ordered the noodles to be firm. I like the thin noodles from Kyushu. I wasn't very hungry, so I didn't get an extra serving of noodles. The gyoza and fried rice that came later had a nice authentic Chinese town feel to them. However, I felt that the soup was a bit lighter than I expected. (Is it common for the soup to be light here?) I noticed at another shop I visited yesterday that they had a sauce for the ramen, which you could adjust to your liking, so I thought it would be nice if they had that here too. I would like to come back when I'm on another business trip. Thank you for the meal!

I went to Fukuoka and checked out this place nearby! I waited in line for about 10 minutes before entering. The ramen has thin, flat noodles that are chewy and delicious! It doesn't have the typical Fukuoka ramen smell, making it easy to eat and highly recommended!!!!!!

I felt like eating plate udon, so I decided to stop by. I hesitated a bit because of the heat, but I arrived around 1:30 pm and there were 6-7 people waiting in line. After about 15 minutes of waiting, I was able to enter. I ordered plate udon (soft noodles) and ginger pork as a single item. The ginger pork was flavorful and delicious, perfect as a side dish. The plate udon was consistently delicious. I haven't visited in the evening yet, so I would like to try it next time. Thank you for the meal!

This place is open as usual during Obon (closed on Tuesdays), and there can be quite a line depending on the time. This time, I decided to order the pork tempura! I ordered without hesitation. The rice for set meals can be upsized for free, so I went for the large portion. They don't offer Set A during Obon, so there were many customers ordering ramen set meals. Surprisingly, items other than ramen sets were prepared quickly as well. Fried rice and dumplings can take a bit longer at times. The pork tempura set arrived. First of all, the thickness of the pork is amazing. And the amount of rice reminds me of the student district in Hakoza. The tempura is quite oily and filling. Perhaps that's why they provide lemon and salt and pepper separately. It's recommended to try with salt and pepper for a nice flavor change. The sweetness of the pork comes out. The side dishes include chilled tofu and cooked lotus root. It's nice to have cooked vegetables. It helps refresh your mouth. The tofu comes with bonito flakes. These little services are delightful. I think I've almost conquered all the set meals here~

I wonder how long it has been. I haven't been here since before the pandemic, so there may have been a break of over 3 years. I happened to be in the Tenjin area during opening hours, so I naturally found my way here. I didn't have to wait long to get in, but it took quite a while to get my bowl of ramen. However, it was still delicious as ever. The rich soup with a strong pork bone flavor, slightly mixed with soy sauce, and the ultra-thin flat noodles unique to Akaren. They make a perfect combination. The key to tonkotsu ramen is really the harmony between the soup and noodles. The ramen from Akaren, which I have been going to since middle school, really hit the spot. I hope to come back soon. It's really crowded, so I'll try to avoid lunchtime next time. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the original Akano Ren, Setsu-chan Ramen, Tenjin Main Store, which is close to Tenjin Station, because I wanted to eat authentic Hakata ramen. This area is bustling with many restaurants. The large sign of "Original Akano Ren" is a landmark. Inside the store, there are spacious counter and table seats. The table seats are quite large, so families or groups can sit comfortably. I ordered the ramen set meal (regular ramen, 3 gyoza, half fried rice) for only 780 yen! It's cheap and wallet-friendly, which is great! After waiting a few minutes, here it is - the ramen. The ramen looks simple with green onions, bamboo shoots, and char siu on top. The thin noodles go well with the creamy soup. Eating it in the original place made me feel like there's something different (laughs). Thank you for the meal!

During the Obon holiday, I visited a ramen shop in Tokyo where the owner trained at a famous shop with a red curtain. Despite seeing online that parking was expensive at 330 yen for 10 minutes, I found a spot nearby for 100 yen for 20 minutes. I arrived around 12:15 on a holiday, waited in the entryway until 12:20, then ordered a regular and large ramen. The ramen arrived in a small bowl with a side plate, featuring thin and uneven noodles in a cloudy broth with plenty of fat. The chashu had a generous amount of fatty meat, and the noodles were just the right firmness. Despite the slight oiliness, I felt the tonkotsu broth lacked depth. It was surprisingly affordable for a well-known shop in a prime location. I was touched by the attentive service, especially when a visually impaired individual was seated near the entrance and the staff took care of them diligently. It was a delightful experience.

As Obon approaches, the customer base seems to change slightly. There are more people who have returned home or tourists around. But this place remains the same. Ramen is 580 yen, ramen set meal is 780 yen. It's really appreciated to have this price near the center of Tenjin. I was planning to have the pork tempura set meal on this day. When I entered the restaurant and was seated at the counter, I couldn't resist the aroma of the ramen soup drifting from right in front of me, and I ended up ordering the ramen set meal without thinking. The taste I've been familiar with since childhood, and the nostalgic scent that used to pass by during my school days. The fried rice is crispy. The unique pork bone soup with a shiny oil film. The slightly flat noodles. Chashu with a bit of fat and menma. The gyoza has a crispy burnt part and a fluffy part. The flavor of the leeks is strong. I'm sure many people think that this gyoza goes well with ramen. The leeks seem to add a refreshing touch.

This is a tonkotsu ramen shop in Tenjin that always has long lines. The ramen here has a rich and strong flavor. The photo shows the chashu ramen, but the ramen set meal includes ramen, gyoza, and half fried rice for 780 yen. It's a good deal because you can get full for less than 1000 yen. The chashu ramen has thick slices of chashu and a generous amount, so it's very satisfying. We went at a good time when it wasn't too crowded, but during lunchtime and after 6 pm, it seems to get quite busy. Thank you for the meal.

I decided to finish my Fukuoka trip with Hakata ramen. It seemed like a classic choice, so I chose this restaurant. It was past 7 pm and there were empty seats, so it didn't feel crowded. When I entered and told the hostess that there were 3 of us, she asked if we were okay with sitting at the counter even though there were tables available. I didn't mind, so I said it was fine. After placing our order and waiting, the hostess suddenly told us to move to a table, which was a bit frustrating. Putting that aside, let's talk about the ramen. I ordered the Char siu ramen in large size. It was tasty, but there was nothing particularly outstanding about it. The soup was lukewarm, with a strong oil content, and the wheat aroma of the noodles didn't seem to match well with the soup. It just didn't suit my taste.

The other day, while on a trip to Fukuoka with a friend, we visited a highly recommended ramen shop. The first thing that caught my attention was how crowded it was. I tried the 580 yen ramen and found it to be delicious, making me a fan of Hakata ramen. I highly recommend giving it a try! 🍜

Around 1:00 PM, there were about 5 people in line for lunch, but we were able to get in relatively easily. I ordered a set with ramen, gyoza, and half fried rice, and it arrived in less than 10 minutes. The ramen had thin noodles, probably because it was tonkotsu ramen, but the noodles were somehow flat and left a strong impression.

Today, I was able to get in quickly without having to wait in the long line like last time. The food was delicious. Thank you very much.

On the third day of my Fukuoka trip, I visited this restaurant for lunch. I arrived 30 minutes after opening and there were already several groups of people waiting. I ordered the char siu ramen, regular size fried rice, and a beer. It was really delicious. I should have upgraded the fried rice to a half size and added an extra serving of noodles. Anyway, this middle-aged man with a reduced appetite in the summer is now completely stuffed.

On Sunday, completely outside of lunch hours at 3 pm, there were over 10 people in line in the scorching heat. Many foreign tourists, maybe it's featured in something for foreigners. I thought it wasn't moving very fast, but suddenly the entire line entered the store. The inside of the store was empty, so they could have just seated us in the available seats in this hot weather, but they seem to intentionally make people wait in line to give the impression of a popular store. As a result, it took a while for the ordered items to arrive. The prices are cheaper than other stores, and the taste is okay, but there is no significant difference compared to other stores.

Fukuoka City's central district, the famous Tenjin area. With Mitsukoshi at Nishitetsu Fukuoka Station, as well as Iwataya and Daimaru, this area is truly a representative commercial district of Kyushu. Alleyways are filled with apparel shops, restaurants, and bustling activity. In one corner, you'll find the popular Hakata ramen spot called Akano Ren Setsu-chan. The clean interior features a well-balanced mix of table and counter seating. A bowl of ramen costs 580 yen. For an additional 200 yen, you can enjoy a set with 3 dumplings and half a serving of fried rice, which is a local specialty. This thoughtful service is common in Fukuoka, the birthplace of the extra noodle culture. The fried rice and dumplings arrive shortly after ordering. The fried rice is crispy and each grain of rice is shiny and distinct, with a visible layer of oil. The dumplings are small but tasty. The ramen, despite the visible oil droplets, tastes surprisingly light. It's slightly richer than Nagahama ramen. The noodles are unique, fluffy, and slightly firm, even when requested to be cooked firmer. This texture is quite enjoyable. I couldn't help but remember the instant noodles from Fukuoka Prefecture called "Fukushima Ramen," which had a similar noodle texture. There's no spicy pickled mustard greens on the table, just a pinch of red pickled ginger. I thoroughly enjoyed the local richness and refreshing taste of this dish.
