On this day, I had a business trip to Fukuoka. After finishing a meeting, I had some free time before my flight. I bought some souvenirs at Patisserie Au Fil du Jour in Sakurazaka, then took a bus to Ropponmatsu. It was close to the opening time, so I decided to visit Tonkatsu Yoshida, where I had a delicious meal before. When I arrived around 6 pm on a weekday, surprisingly there was no line! It's a common thing in Fukuoka that places are crowded on weekends but quiet on weekdays. I was seated at the counter and ordered the Mie Prefecture Matsusaka pork loin katsu set (150g) for ¥2,000. It was served in about 20 minutes. I started with salt, which was sweet and tender. The tonkatsu here is fried with a thick batter. I enjoyed it with wasabi soy sauce, which added a different flavor. I finished with mixing the sauce with some spice. Overall, it was delicious! I might prefer the tenderloin katsu next time, but I still enjoyed this one. Thank you for the meal!

The tonkatsu was amazing. I ordered the pork fillet and minced cutlet. The tonkatsu was incredibly tender and large, with an impressive appearance. The minced cutlet had plenty of vegetables and was not greasy, making it easy to eat. The dressing tasted like nuts, not sesame as I initially thought. I went in the early afternoon and only had to wait for about 30 minutes to get a table.

Tonkatsu restaurant that requires reservations. With only 13 seats, including 5 counter seats, groups like families may have to wait in line, so visiting alone or with one other person is recommended. The tonkatsu is fried at a low temperature for a longer period, so expect to wait around 20 minutes for your order to be served.

I thought this tonkatsu restaurant was worth waiting in line for. The tonkatsu was tender, and the menchi, which is my favorite, was juicy and spicy, making it delicious! Although this is a tonkatsu restaurant, next time I think I'll try the menchi katsu set meal haha. Being able to get seconds of rice, miso soup, and cabbage is a must for a tonkatsu restaurant. And being able to finish with a pineapple juice with pulp to refresh your mouth is a nice touch.

Rokumonmatsu's "Tonkatsu Yoshida" is the number one tonkatsu specialty restaurant in Fukuoka on Tabelog. Last time, I waited for about 2 hours, so this time I arrived 30 minutes early. I was able to get in during the first round, but I was sweating a lot, haha. Their characteristic is frying with a white coating at a low temperature. After much deliberation, I ordered both the loin and fillet, and they were consistently delicious. The fillet was especially tasty. The pork rib is a bit pricey, but it's worth it for the flavor. You can choose between white rice and mixed grain rice, and get one free refill. It also comes with grated yam, side dishes, and pineapple juice. - Restaurant Information - Name: Tonkatsu Yoshida Hours: 11:30-14:30, 18:00-20:00 Phone: 092-724-5511 Price: Loin & Fillet Cutlet Lunch 2,100 yen Closed: Tuesdays and Wednesdays Private room: None Location: 1-13-20 Tani, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City For more details, click here: https://lit.link/Ryoki Provided by: Ryo Ki Yoshida

Utilization information Date and time: Monday, around 12:00 Reservation: Not available Waiting time: Yes (20 minutes) Number of people: 1 person Seating: Counter Frequency: First visit Duration of stay: 1 hour Payment: Cash Food menu - Hirekatsu lunch (medium, three pieces): ¥1,800 (tax included) - Large shrimp fry (one piece): ¥800 (tax included) Drink menu - Premium Malt's draft beer (medium): ¥500 (tax included) Good points - The most beautiful hirekatsu Bad points - Waiting in line Other notes - Tonkatsu Hyakumeiten: 2022 Impressions: Temporary return to Japan - Fukuoka edition part 10. On this day, I visited "Tonkatsu Yoshida," which I had been eyeing for a while. There were reports of long lines, but since it was a weekday and I arrived about 10 minutes before opening, I thought it would be fine to wait. I walked about 3 minutes from Ropponmatsu Station and arrived at the restaurant. There was already a line of over 10 people. Ah, this is the critical point between the first and second rounds of seating. It's a low-temperature cooking restaurant, so if it's the second round, the wait will be quite long. I waited for the opening while observing the situation. The customers were mostly individuals and couples, regardless of gender. Little by little, we were guided inside, and I managed to just make it in for the first round of seating about 10 minutes after the opening. There are 5 counter seats and tables in the back. I sat at the front counter seat. The interior was clean, but the chairs were a bit high. I'm not a fan of counter chairs. Even now, there are acrylic partitions between the seats. The BGM was quiet, so I couldn't really make it out. There were three staff members - the owner, his wife, and maybe his mother? The service was polite and calm. Orders were taken one by one in order. Although they had TOKYO X and Matsuzaka pork, I chose the Hirekatsu lunch (medium, three pieces) from the regular menu since they didn't have Hire. You can choose between white rice and mixed grain rice, but for tonkatsu, I prefer white rice. I also ordered a large shrimp fry (one piece). Since it was hot, I also asked for a Premium Malt's draft beer (medium). The Premium Malt's draft beer (medium) arrived promptly. It was creamy with a nice bitterness. After waiting for about 30 minutes, the Hirekatsu lunch finally arrived. As expected, it takes time due to the low-temperature cooking. But as soon as it arrived, I was convinced it was a hit. Firstly, the white coating unique to low-temperature cooking. And look at this cross-section! If you're someone who appreciates food, you'll immediately understand the beauty of this. The color is perfectly pink without any unevenness. I've been to numerous famous tonkatsu restaurants in Minami-Asagaya, Takadanobaba, Nishi-Ogikubo, Yotsuya-Sanchome, Kagurazaka, Akihabara, Kamata, Ueno, Ginza, Yamanashi, Kumamoto, but I have never seen such a uniform pink color. While white tonkatsu restaurants have increased, many other places still have a liquid-like feel to them. It's the best level of doneness. First, I tried it without anything added. It's so tender! You don't even need your teeth. Just sandwich it with your lips, and your lower and upper lips stick together. The meat is fine-grained and moist. It's delicious even without anything added, and you can taste the meat's umami. Salt or wasabi is also delicious, but it's wonderful as it is. If you get tired, sauce is also an option, but the presence of the meat's umami disappears. The large shrimp fry is exactly as its name suggests - a big size with a diameter of 3cm and a length of 20cm. Under the crispy coating is a sweet shrimp that's bouncy. The combination of the coating and tartar sauce is also excellent. The meal comes with rice, grated yam, and pickles, a solid lineup. The miso soup has yuzu peel in it, making it refreshing. The dressing is also delicious. After the meal, pineapple juice is served, which is very satisfying. It's nice to have something cold and refreshing. A very fulfilling lunch for about an hour. So, it's time to pay. It's 3,100 yen in total. I paid in cash. An hour later, when I left the restaurant, the person who lined up right behind me still hadn't been able to enter. Indeed, if the timing is off, you might end up waiting for quite a while. Thank you for the meal. Maybe this will be my best tonkatsu now. If the turnover rate is good, it's the best, but is it a trade-off for that doneness? I will definitely visit again when I come back to Fukuoka!

I visited for lunch. I arrived an hour before the weekend opening time, but there were already people waiting. It's a popular restaurant with a line forming, and I could see why. I ordered the TOKYO X Pork Cutlet Set (150g). I never thought I would be able to try the legendary TOKYO X pork in Fukuoka. The cutlet that came out was indeed a white cutlet. Cooked at a low temperature, the white crispy coating had a hint of pink inside, making it juicy and tender. The temperature control and frying time must have been perfectly calculated. It was truly amazing. The frying technique and the sweetness of the TOKYO X meat, combined with the refreshing fat, created this perfectly balanced cutlet that was incredibly delicious. I first tried it with salt, and it was so good that I wanted to finish it all with just that. However, when I tried it with the tonkatsu sauce and wasabi soy sauce, it brought out a different flavor, and I couldn't stop eating. You can choose between white rice and mixed grain rice, and I chose white rice. The rice was delicious, and having grated yam was a nice touch. Plus, they serve pineapple juice after the meal, which was a nice bonus. Of course, the miso soup was also delicious. You can have seconds of rice, miso soup, and cabbage. It may take a bit longer to be served due to the slow frying process, but when you can enjoy such carefully crafted dishes, the wait is worth it. Thank you for the meal.

On Sunday, after confirming over the phone around 2 pm, I waited for 20 minutes. I had high expectations for the white tonkatsu. The white coating with pink fillet was soft and easy to eat. I enjoyed it with wasabi and salt, but I would have preferred grated wasabi and rock salt if possible. Unfortunately, that wasn't available. The cabbage, which is usually tough this season, was surprisingly soft and delicious here, especially with tonkatsu sauce. It was tasty, but I prefer a more crispy texture. The complimentary grated yam and pineapple juice later were confusing. However, the meat was delicious.

I went to a tonkatsu restaurant that I had been curious about for a while. I lined up from around 10:40 on a holiday and was the first group to be seated. I ordered the Hire & Ebi Fry lunch set. The meat of the hire katsu was very tender and juicy, and the coating was crispy. The ebi fry was even more delicious when eaten with the refreshing tartar sauce. The fact that you can choose between white rice and mixed grain rice is a nice point for women.

I enjoyed delicious tonkatsu in the hot weather. I thought the wait would be quite long, but it was about 1 hour. I ordered both loin and fillet, with an additional menchi. I confirmed a rice refill at this point. The food arrived and I finished taking photos within 1 minute. The cabbage was fluffy and I confirmed a refill for that too. I ate the loin as it was and it was incredibly delicious, with a sweet taste of the meat. It was delicious with salt, and also delicious with grated yam. Fukuoka is the best, I want to come back again.

Last week, I had lunch before work on a rainy day. I went to a tonkatsu restaurant that is usually crowded, but this time there was no line so I decided to go in. The restaurant is called Tonkatsu Yoshida in Ropponmatsu. It is listed as one of the top 100 tonkatsu restaurants. I ordered a set meal with Matsusaka pork loin cutlet and a lunch set with three pieces of domestic brand pork fillet cutlet. The fillet cutlet was surprisingly tender and delicious. It was tasty even without any sauce, but it was also fun to try it with wasabi salt, wasabi soy sauce, tonkatsu sauce, etc. The mini pineapple juice after the meal was refreshing and delicious.

-----------ORDER----------- Top loin katsu set meal ¥2000 (without rice and miso soup) Premium draft beer ¥500 My first experience with low-temperature fried tonkatsu. The pale tonkatsu looks promising. I start by trying the meat with salt. There are only regular salt and wasabi salt available... Next, I try it with wasabi soy sauce, but the wasabi and mustard come in packets... Is it all about the meat and frying? The cabbage is served with dressing... The meat, cooked to a pink color near the center, not at the edge, is served. The marbling and the way the oil melts are exquisite. The tenderness and juiciness when I bite into it are perfect for its thickness. The slightly thicker layer of soft breadcrumbs adds a nice texture. Unlike the usual crispy tonkatsu that hardens over time, this one stands out in terms of texture and flavor. The low-temperature frying seems to be the key to its long-lasting chewiness... For the second half, I try it with sauce, but again, there isn't much emphasis on it. Changing the taste with the spicy sauce was a good idea. -----------Aside----------- How many tonkatsu have I eaten so far? And how many more can I eat in the future? As I get older, I find myself pondering such things for no apparent reason. I stopped by for a quick meal before going out for drinks in the evening. Having beer with tonkatsu seems a bit extravagant... I removed the rice and miso soup from the set meal and added a draft beer. Yet... the price remained the same... Is that fair? Even though they didn't provide it, charging the same amount seems like unfair profit... Or is it a form of donation... If the definition of a set meal is a serving style in food and beverage establishments where multiple predetermined dishes are served, then without individual prices, a sale contract is established. Be cautious of the note saying "One set meal per person." Oh well... it wasn't exactly customer-first. Thank you for the meal.

I wanted to try this tonkatsu restaurant! Today, it was not crowded due to the rain, so we were able to get in right away at 12 o'clock! The tonkatsu was tender with a gentle sweetness and delicious! I ordered both the loin and fillet, and after comparing them, I found that I prefer the fillet! They offer free refills for rice up to one time.

I love this place so much and have visited multiple times, but due to timing issues, this is a long-awaited revisit. The queue was even longer than before, with ropes set up to guide the line. I wish I had come more often when there was no line... The low-temperature cooking process takes time, so even though they open at 11:30, you can start eating around 12:00. You need to line up about an hour before to be one of the first to enter. I don't like waiting in line, but the taste here is worth the effort. On this day, there were many Koreans in line, showing its popularity even among foreigners. After waiting in line for a while, the restaurant opened and a woman explained the process in a polite manner. I chose the Tokyo X rare pork loin and the assorted pork cutlet set. I was captivated by the beautiful pink color of the pork cutlet as I took a bite. The juicy meat juice and tender meat were irresistible! I have had white cutlets at other places, but the tenderness here is on another level. It's so delicious! The sweetness of the pork loin and the tenderness of the meat are outstanding! Honestly, with my palate, I couldn't really tell that it was Tokyo X... because even regular pork loin tastes this good... it's so delicious that even regular pork is exceptional, so other delicious pork is just as good! The sweetness of the pork loin fat is irresistible, but I also like how the assorted set with the fillet is refreshing while still allowing you to taste the meat. The juicy texture of the minced meat and the surprisingly large and bouncy texture of the assorted set have become a staple for me! This pork cutlet is so delicious that I feel like I don't need to eat it anywhere else for the rest of my life! I'm happy that there's a line, but also sad!

I decided to go to a famous restaurant. I arrived around 12pm on a weekday and had to wait for about 12 people ahead of me. I waited for an hour... I tried the TOKYO X Rosu for the first time, adding the fillet, which ended up costing over 3000 yen... ^^; It was indeed delicious, but the regular option is also very tasty, so I'll stick to that in the future. The batter and fillet reminded me of Narikura in Takadanobaba. It was so tender and delicious~

To Yoshida, a tonkatsu restaurant in Ropponmatsu. Located a 5-minute walk from Ropponmatsu subway station and close to the landmark 421 in Ropponmatsu, Yoshida is a top-rated tonkatsu restaurant in Fukuoka city, ranked number one on Tabelog and selected for Hyakumeiten 2022. The area had several restaurants, creating a small gourmet plaza. The cozy interior had 5 counter seats, 2 two-person tables, and 1 four-person table. As it was my first visit, I ordered the classic Rosukatsu set meal in a small size (1600 yen). The menu offered various options, including premium pork brands like Matsuzaka pork and the rare TOKYO X. I remembered enjoying TOKYO X at Yoshii Juuhachi, but I opted for a more traditional choice this time. As noted, the tonkatsu is fried at a low temperature after ordering, so there was a bit of a wait for the dish. The condiments included the classic salt and tonkatsu sauce, as well as a unique spicy sauce for flavor variation. The Rosukatsu, even in the small 120g size, was substantial. The set meal came with miso soup, cabbage, pickles, and even grated yam. The complimentary grated yam is a nice touch as it's not commonly offered. The cabbage was dressed with sesame sauce. The miso soup had a refreshing yuzu flavor, balancing out the richness of the tonkatsu. You could choose between white rice or mixed grain rice. Rice, miso soup, and cabbage are all refillable once for free! The highlight, the Rosukatsu, had a crispy coating while locking in the deliciousness and juiciness of the meat. The sweetness and umami of the meat were fully experienced. I'm curious about how other premium pork brands would taste. A small pineapple juice was a nice palate cleanser. Next time, I'd like to try the hirekatsu or other premium pork options!

I visited around 13:30 on Saturday and waited for about 40 minutes with 10 people ahead of me. I ordered the TOKYOX Rosukatsu set, while my companion ordered the Matsuzaka pork Rosukatsu set. The taste and cost performance were both good, and the cooking was exquisite. It was a taste that was hard to compare with the famous Inokawazu in Hakozaki.

I was debating what to eat on the plane, and decided on "tonkatsu"! I rushed to this restaurant in a rental car. Lately, I've been disappointed with tonkatsu at other places, so this time I ordered the loin cutlet lunch with shrimp fry and fillet cutlet toppings. It arrived in about ten minutes. The loin cutlet, perfectly cooked with a beautiful pink color, was a bit oily and heavy at first bite, but as I continued eating, the breading evolved and the egg flavor became more prominent, creating a perfect harmony with the meat. While there are many delicious tonkatsu out there, this one's taste changed so significantly with temperature, making it the first of its kind for me. The shrimp fry was a bit too hot, but the fillet cutlet was just right, with a great texture that exceeded its price. I am extremely satisfied! Thank you for the delicious meal! I wanted to try the spicy sauce on the table, but the tonkatsu was so good that I didn't want to ruin it, so I only used salt. I regret not trying the sauce. I would definitely revisit this place when I come back to Fukuoka!

Lunch during a business trip to Fukuoka. This time, the main attraction was the tonkatsu here. Around noon, there were 4 people waiting outside. After about 20 minutes, we were seated inside. You can choose between small and medium sizes for both loin and fillet. This time, I ordered a medium fillet, 150g. You could also choose between mixed grain rice and white rice. It took a generous 20 minutes to be served due to the low-temperature frying. Five fillets with a pale pink cross-section appeared. When I tried it with salt... Wow! The tenderness was shocking. The aroma of the pork was gently fragrant, so this might be a point where preferences differ. Personally, it caught my interest a bit. However, the white coating was light like powdered snow, making it a fillet cutlet akin to the Snow White of tonkatsu. The shredded cabbage was fresh, and the sauce was perfect. You'll definitely want seconds. In addition to salt, there was also wasabi salt, soy sauce, and a recommended spicy sauce for flavor variation. And the fact that grated yam comes with the rice is a nice touch. Miso soup, rice, and cabbage are refillable. To finish, a small glass of pineapple juice is served to refresh the palate before leaving. Thank you for the meal.

Open for just over 2 years, this popular tonkatsu restaurant in Fukuoka has taken the tonkatsu scene by storm. With only 13 seats available, you must be prepared to wait at least 1 hour before opening time to secure a spot. Even though we managed to get in on the first round, there were already 4 groups ahead of us, resulting in an additional 30-minute wait. The tonkatsu, fried at low temperatures, originally used "Aged Akita Hachimantai Pork" but now uses domestic branded pork, meticulously cooked using two pots with different temperatures. The unique variety of condiments, including soy sauce, wasabi, and even spicy seasonings, reflects the owner's dedication.

Recently, Tonkatsu Yoshida in Rokumonmatsu became the number one tonkatsu specialty restaurant on Tabelog. It has been very popular since its opening, and I waited in line for an hour and a half. One of its distinctive features is the tonkatsu with a white coating. I ordered a set where you can have both loin and fillet. They are fried slowly at a low temperature and tasted delicious with salt and wasabi. They were tender, juicy, and very tasty. It was worth the wait, and I would like to go again. You can choose between white rice and mixed grain rice. I chose mixed grain rice. It also comes with grated yam, side dishes, and pineapple juice. It has a different charm from my favorite "Inokawazu."
