When I came to Fukuoka, one of the places I wanted to visit was an eel restaurant. Especially on a hot mid-July day, I needed to build up my stamina. So, I visited "Yamamichi" here. I arrived around 5:00 PM on a Saturday without a reservation. The parking lot next to the restaurant can accommodate 5 cars. When I parked and entered the building, I found the reception on the second floor. A staff member came up when I went upstairs. I told them that I didn't have a reservation, and they asked me to wait a bit. After a while, I was seated. Phew, glad I got in! By the way, someone who arrived at the same time as me had made a reservation. It's always better to make a reservation if you can. I was seated in a tatami room and looked at the menu, which had eel rice bowls, eel rice sets, hitsumabushi, and various à la carte dishes. There was also alcohol, but I didn't drink when having eel. I ordered the eel rice set and hitsumabushi. The eel rice set here comes with soup, a steamed egg custard, a side dish, and eel bone crackers. You can choose between liver soup or a seasonal option. I chose the liver soup. The eel bone crackers arrived first. While nibbling on those, I waited for the eel rice set. The fluffy eel with vinegar was delicious. Next, the steamed egg custard appeared. It had a delicate and tasty broth. The side dish was also delicious. Finally, the main eel rice set and soup arrived. When I opened the lid of the set, I saw a generous amount of eel. I took a bite, and the eel was tender with crispy skin, extremely delicious. The sauce was perfectly balanced, not too strong. The rice was a bit firm, but it paired perfectly with the eel. The liver soup had no unpleasant smell, just a refined taste. The staff were friendly, and the atmosphere inside the restaurant was excellent. Above all, the cost performance of getting all this for 5000 yen was amazing! This is a place I would definitely want to visit again. Thank you for the meal.
