Visited on Saturday, February 12, 2022, around 12:00 pm. Located on the 2nd basement floor of the Asahi Building directly connected to Hakata Station, in "Hakata Umakamon Street". There are 7 stores in Fukuoka Prefecture, and also one in Takadanobaba, Tokyo. It's even listed as one of the top 100 restaurants on Tabelog. I visited for the first time as a final stop for Fukuoka gourmet before heading back to Osaka. As expected, the restaurant was full, so I had to wait for about 10 minutes. The turnover was fast, so I was able to get a table relatively quickly. It operates on a food ticket system, so you choose your menu first. The recommended menu is the limited quantity "Daichi Set" for ¥660. It includes udon topped with burdock tempura, meat, and seaweed, along with 2 inari sushi. The prices are reasonable. They offer various types of udon such as hot, bukkake (hot and cold), zaru, kamaage, and kamatama. The toppings are also abundant, including the famous burdock tempura, round tempura, and yam. They also have rice bowl dishes, with the mini bowl priced at ¥320. It might be a good idea to decide on the menu you want to eat before going to the restaurant as there are so many options to choose from. The highlight is the "Burdock Tempura Bukkake" (cold) for ¥710. The burdock tempura, a representative topping of Hakata, is a must-try. The burdock tempura at Daichi Udon is made by frying thinly sliced burdock in a spiral shape, and it is served in a large size of about 25cm. The udon noodles have a transparent and shiny appearance, with a chewy and smooth texture. The broth is light and sweet, and when poured over the noodles, it enhances the flavor. The burdock tempura is crispy and flavorful, adding a unique touch to the dish. It may be a bit messy to eat elegantly with chopsticks, but tearing it into bite-sized pieces and savoring it is the way to go. Adding a warm egg for ¥100 made the dish even better! The "Mini Katsu Don" for ¥320 is also delicious, with a good balance of sweet and salty flavors and crispy pork cutlet. It's great that they offer a mini size option. In conclusion, it is the top udon restaurant in Fukuoka where you can experience the amazing "Burdock Tempura" and "translucent noodles". They accept PayPay payments. Local people in Hakata don't eat ramen. If they want noodles, they go to an udon restaurant. Even with about 10 people waiting during lunchtime, the staff work quickly and you get your udon within 10 minutes. I had the Daichi Set for 700 yen. It came with udon topped with meat, burdock root, and seaweed, along with 2 small inari sushi. The burdock tempura was delicious. There's a large stack of burdock inside the restaurant, which is a nice touch. The udon doesn't have much chewiness, you slurp it up smoothly.

There were about 30 people lined up, but it moved quickly. There were pictures of the menu (very well done) and numbers outside, making it easy for foreigners and tourists. Inside, I purchased a meal ticket from the ticket machine and was shown to my seat. The staff were energetic and served customers quickly. The udon noodles were not thick, but had a transparent and chewy texture. I enjoyed them with delicious burdock tempura.

When I was in Hakata the other day, I stumbled upon this hidden gem udon shop. It's called Daichi Udon, and I was surprised to find it tucked away underground. It was a bit crowded around 6 PM, and I randomly selected the full stomach set from the ticket machine. The tempura burdock udon that came out was delicious but quite filling. The grated yam and wasabi rice bowl was okay, not amazing. Overall, I don't think the cost performance is great, and I prefer the taste and value at another shop. The udon had clear, slightly chewy noodles.

Just before noon, I had some time near Hakata Station, so I had lunch at Daichi no Udon Hakata Station. As usual, it's a popular spot, and even though it was around 11:30, it was already full with a line of over 10 people. It was hot, so I was thinking of getting cold udon, but before I knew it, I pressed the button for the Niku Gobo Tempura Udon on the ticket machine (laughs). It was delicious, with freshly cut and boiled udon, freshly fried tempura, and a comforting broth. The soup is delicious on its own, but I also like to change the flavor with the shichimi pepper on the table.

I have tried various udon restaurants in Hakata, but this time I tried Daichi no Udon, which I had never tried before. They also have a branch in Tokyo, so I plan to compare the two next time, but for now, I wanted to try it in the authentic Hakata location. Luckily, there wasn't a long line when I went, so I didn't have to wait. When I was seated at the counter, my order arrived in about 10 minutes. I ordered the Burdock Tempura Udon for 550 yen. The price was reasonable and the tempura was huge! It looked very appealing. The udon noodles were so clear you could hardly see them, and despite being a bit difficult to eat due to the size, they were freshly fried and delicious! The broth and the noodles together were amazing. I love udon enough to come all the way to Hakata for it, and this one was very gentle and delicious. I will definitely go again! It was delicious! Thank you for the meal!

I tried the udon restaurant that I had been curious about for a while. I chose the set with burdock tempura because there were burdock displayed in front of the shop and it looked delicious. The udon noodles were slightly translucent and had a unique texture. They didn't get mushy even after some time and maintained a good chewiness. The crispy burdock tempura was delicious and I could keep eating it forever. It can get crowded during lunchtime, but the turnover is fast so you can eat quickly even if you have to wait in line.

I visited the restaurant before noon on Saturday. There were about 8 people in line, but the turnover was good and we were seated quickly. The interior of the restaurant was not particularly clean, but the kitchen and waitstaff were energetic and their cheerful greetings gave me a boost. I purchased a ticket for the popular Gobo Tempura Udon from the ticket machine and waited for my turn. Water was self-serve. The waitstaff efficiently guided us to our seats. The Gobo Tempura Udon was served with crispy, thinly sliced Gobo tempura, and I had fun deciding how to eat it - dipping half in the broth and eating the other half separately. The udon noodles were translucent, chewy but not too soft, and just the right texture for me. I left feeling full, but I wished I could have finished the delicious broth with rice. As I left the restaurant, the line had grown even longer. It's definitely worth waiting in line to eat at this udon restaurant. Thank you for the meal!

Visited during lunchtime. It's a popular place, so there's always a line, but the turnover is fast so it's fine. It's been a year since my last visit. This time I had the tempura bukkake udon for 750 yen, and the tempura was huge. It was so big I couldn't even hold it with chopsticks. The udon had a nice chewy texture. It was delicious. I really enjoyed the udon I had.

Before the store opened on Monday at 10:30 (it ended up opening at 10:40), there were already about 15 people lined up. I could hear Korean and Cantonese being spoken, so it seems popular among overseas travelers as well. You buy a meal ticket and are guided to your seat. I ordered the Daichi set for 690 yen. I sat at a table for two with a stranger, but they still placed an acrylic board between us. Surprisingly, I didn't have to wait too long. The Daichi set comes with tempura burdock, meat, and wakame in warm udon noodles, along with two pieces of inari sushi. The tempura burdock is thinly sliced and fried crispy, which goes well with the warm broth. The meat adds a sweet flavor to the broth. The udon noodles are slightly translucent but have a smooth and chewy texture. They hold up well against the slightly salty broth. The inari sushi is small, and the portion of udon noodles is also on the smaller side, making it a good amount even for women. There are various menu options, but I think I'll be satisfied with this for a while.

It's still a popular restaurant with lines, but the turnover is fast. Even if you line up to the stairs, if you're alone, there are counter seats available so you can get in within about 10 minutes. You purchase a meal ticket first. Then you wait a little more until a seat opens up, and the staff will guide you to your seat. The water is self-serve. I felt like eating it again after a long time, so I ordered the meat and burdock tempura udon. The udon here has a slightly translucent texture. The meat is tender and well-seasoned. The burdock has a crispy texture. When you dip it in the broth, it becomes soft. This is also delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I always line up here. But even though I have to wait, the udon here is worth it. There is a ticket vending machine near the entrance. Today, it's still hot so I had the bukkake udon with burdock tempura. It was cold, had a good texture, and was slippery - I love it. Sharing a table with others is unavoidable.

I visited Daichi Udon to try their Hakata Udon. It was dinner time and there were a few groups waiting, but I was able to get a table quickly. I purchased my meal ticket from the machine and sat at the designated table for four. Later, a couple joined us at the table. It seems to be the system since the restaurant is crowded. I tried the meat tempura udon, which had a soft but chewy texture. It's a popular place, but personally, it didn't meet my expectations.

I visited around 12 o'clock on a regular day. There were about 10 people waiting in line. The turnover was fast, and I was able to enter the restaurant in less than 10 minutes. I ordered at the ticket machine. This time, I ordered the Gobo Tempura Udon (large size). The noodles were slightly thin, with a transparent and chewy texture. The Gobo tempura had a striking appearance and was a bit difficult to eat, but it was crispy and had a distinct Gobo flavor. I would like to try their warm udon next time.

I was near Hakata Station so I decided to stop by after a long time. It's still a popular restaurant! There were many customers waiting, but the friendly staff handled it well! I chose the Burdock Tempura with grated daikon on noodles for 740 yen. I was tempted by the great value Daichi Set, but it's too hot today. The Frisbee-shaped burdock tempura always makes a big impression. I love the firm and smooth noodles. The interior is a bit messy, but the bright and energetic service is great. Among the various restaurants in the Fukuoka Uradomekai, this is my favorite!

It has been a few years since my last visit. I usually go to a shop in Takadanobaba, but today I am in Fukuoka for the first time in a while. The store is full of inbound customers, creating a lively atmosphere. The taste is just like Takadanobaba! Now, here's a question. There is one thing that is different from the Takadanobaba store. What is it? The answer is that the topping of seaweed was served separately. It was a discovery at this shop... I will definitely go back!

I had been avoiding Fukuoka udon because it tends to be soft, but I heard they have udon with a chewy texture, so I decided to visit. There was a line of about 20 people, but I was able to get in after about 10 minutes. The noodles were semi-transparent and had a good chewiness. Since it's the season, I chose the cold bukkake udon. You can also choose between warm noodles and cold noodles for bukkake udon. I ordered the Gobo tempura, which seems to be a specialty, and it was a great choice. (I also got a pickled plum on the side ^^;)

Burdock tempura udon...550 yen. A place I used to go to during my student days. Somehow, I haven't been able to go there recently. The popular burdock tempura udon is probably the number one dish. The thin, translucent noodles similar to cold noodles, and the huge burdock tempura may not be familiar to people from outside the prefecture, so please try it! It can get a bit crowded during lunchtime.

I came to an udon restaurant located a few minutes' walk from Hakata Exit at Hakata Station. I arrived around 2:30 pm, but there was still a long line at this popular restaurant. I waited for about 5 minutes before being seated. I ordered the Kakiage Bukkake Cold Udon (710 yen), which came with a very large kakiage (containing burdock, carrot, onion, eggplant, etc.) topped with shrimp tempura. The udon noodles were freshly boiled and transparent since they were rinsed in water, making them firm. It was served with bonito flakes, nori, and wasabi. The portion size and quality for this price were exceptional. I can see why this place is so popular. The taste is a mix of the broth, noodles, and kakiage, so it may be a bit oily, but those who like it will enjoy the variety of flavors. The menu is extensive, so I would like to try the hot udon next time. Bon appétit!

During my 2-night business trip in Fukuoka, I was planning to try Hakata udon. Fukuoka is known for its ramen, but since I had meetings for lunch and dinner that day, I thought it would be best to avoid the strong smell of tonkotsu ramen. So, I decided on udon instead. On the second night, I visited a place near JR Hakata Station and ordered their most popular dish, the meat and burdock tempura udon for 730 yen. The dish arrived with a striking burdock tempura disk on top of the udon noodles. I dipped a part of the tempura in the broth, letting it soften a bit before eating it, and it paired perfectly with the broth. The noodles were translucent, slightly soft but with a firm chewiness that was incredibly delicious. It was my first time experiencing noodles like these. The broth was slightly sweet with a gentle flavor, not too salty. I was impressed by the gentle taste of the dish and thought to myself, "So this is the kind of udon that exists."

When on a business trip to Fukuoka, it's easy to gravitate towards tonkotsu ramen for a meal, but suddenly I had a craving for udon and decided to revisit this place. It was still popular, so I had to wait a bit, but once I tried it, I couldn't help but be satisfied by its deliciousness. The udon had a chewy texture, and the broth was just right. It's a taste that makes you want to come back for more.
